i dont think there are any official stock ROMs for the focus S
if you updated via zune it should have made a backup, go to settings update, and click restore
If you used the cab sender then you should have made a backup first, if you didnt then your in a spot of bother
but hang on a sec, have you tried to do a hard reset, ive not seen that error mid way through an update, so perhaps its just a case of formatting it
Could the error have occurred because all the languages were not properly installed previously during update via cabsender?
Actually, just update everything to 8773 via cabsender

Were you able to install any updates?
If so, then it may be that you are not updating in the proper order of 7720 -> 7740 -> 8107 -> 8112 -> 8773. For each version make sure ALL languages are being updated if they exist before moving to the next version.
If not, then it may be configuration issue with your computer. Either try a different computer or try the fixes suggested in this thread: http://www.windowsphoneboard.com/samsung-focus/1120-80070057-error-message.html

so, i have a german milestone, running a 2.1 serviceable non-branded german rom. the device originally had a vodafone rom.
i checked for updates today and it found an update as available, around 34mb.
i downloaded it via wifi but the update process failed, probably to the vulnerable recovery installed.
so, i've gone back to stock, and i'm trying via cable, but the software update hangs forever in the "reading configuration data". any solution for that?
can anyone else in germany verify if the update appears as available for them too?
l.e: gave up on cable update, trying hsdpa since i have no wifi available nao ; it's caled "update package" and is 32.1mb in size.

32mb is quite small for an update like that... but who knows. i've just checked android-hilfe.de and motorola europe group on facebook- none of them telling anything about any update.
@saptemai- which version are you currently running anyways?
this is probably the 2.1-update1 update.
It has to be the 2.1 update-1 Version.
Maybe you haven't applies that Update to your Milestone.
I believe Motorola will announce it in Facebook, etc if Froyo will be available for download any day now.
yup, false alarm, no froyo - still shows 2.1.
however i was already running update1, which doesn't explain exactly what this update package was.
nevertheless, this thread can be closed nao. sorry if i got people's hopes up.

I have an AT&T HTC HD7 with 7.5 and I decided to upgrade to Windows Phone 7.8
I went to http://www.windowsphonehacker.com/articles/want_windows_phone_7.8_now_try_this_easy_tool-01-31-13 and I tried to install 7.8, but installation crashed a few times before that. Unfortunately during this "installation", my phone lost the hability to access Wi-Fi, SMS many other features, and I was unable to reset it to factory defaults (Settings > About didn't work).
Then I found the amazing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37384687&postcount=1478 and I moved to 8779, 8783 and finally 8858 (Windows Phone 7.8). Now 7.8 is working but I still can't access Wi-Fi, SMS, Settings > About and many other! When I click any of these options, nothing happens or the next screen crashes and it goes to the last screen.
Then I decided the best move is to go back to original 7.5, but I couldn't find the ROM and any real solution to do that.
How do I install original (factory) AT&T version 7.5?? (Settings > About doesn't work so I don't have the option to restore using "Reset to factory settings" option)

Well, after trying many solutions that didn't help me, I sent my phone to mobiletechvideos (google it as I'm still not allowed to post outside links here) and they unbricked it! SWEET!
They were able to restore the factory default installation and everything is working now! I (obviously) lost all data, but the phone is perfect and I'm installing all updates since 7.5 using Zune. If you have a similar problem, I highly recommend their service!
Hi all , 1st post here so hi from Scotland.
As t' title says I'm having Hassle's updating my GT-N7000 from 4.0.3 OTA vie settings/about phone/software update/update. It downloads fine, reboots and runs the extraction/update however when it gets to the home screen I'm told that the update has failed and to connect the phone to a PC via Kies Air. Only problem is I don't have a PC but i do have a nexus 7 13 which says is incompatible with kies according to Google play.
So I'm here begging favours people, anyone got a suggestion or workaround thingy? And thanks for reading.

No, there's a couple of launchers installed but it's not rooted.
I was wondering if I downloaded it and then booted to the boot-menu if I could run it from there, but then would that make a difference?
You can make a backup of your files & settings and do a factory reset. Maybe after that the ota update works. Give it a try, if not you need a PC and flash latest Stock Rom...

the Same update is coming, and i tried everything:
Install the Update approx 20 times
Check in Hicare -no update
Check in Hisuite - NO update
Email Huwai - No answer
Hard Restet (!) - Same
I have read that sometimes a newer update pops up, or with hisuite theres a new update, but always the same.
Any ideas?
I didn´t have the same problem but for me it was that I never got the 9.1 update.
Changing to another operators SIM-card triggered the update, and then after updating to the most recent version I switched back to my default sim.
Maybe it´s the solution to your problem as well, might be worth a shot at least.

I had that problem when I did update via moded HiSuite from 9.0.0.286 to 9.1.0.325... I downgraded again to 2.0.0.286 and then I updated first to 9.1.0.311 (no problem), and after that to 9.1.0.328
So try if you want, but I'm not responsible if something goes wrong...

Changed hosts file
installed hisuite and copied the modified files
opened ff on my p20 pro, approved .328 update
does not work, error.
Am i doing something wrong still?
I can download the update in ff, is there a risk to install it this way?

Have you changed the DNS in your wifi connection? Check out the box for IPV6, disconnect the internet, connect again and make sure that your mobile and Laptop are connected with the same network, you just need to change the DNS in your host file, nothing more, good luck.
Aaaah, i finally made it, wlan router with the dns settings did the trick, this was not mentioned in the manual i think?

Hi there's a new OTA update MP4 for my global BS3 I'm currently on MP3 compilation the thing is every time I tried to update my phone it always fails it starts the OTA download but fails after is completed I got to say I did the process without root but didn't work tried also relocking bootloader but didn't work either, I know some people said we have to manually update with dial configuration but that doesn't work either so if anyone figured how to update please let me know the version I have is terrible it drains so fast the battery

Ive used the global rom and its buggy as hell. The latest chinese rom is much better.

I also faced that what you had. then I flash fresh/stock/factory rom qith qfil. then I didnt do anything except flash MP4 with dial, because I had the MP4 zip rom. it succeed.
