What I have just done was very stupid and careless, I know, so please don't remind me...
I'm pretty sure I've fully bricked the phone.
Okay, so this is what happened.
Yesterday I got a new Galaxy Ace Plus.
Last night I successfully rooted my Galaxy Ace Plus and installed CWM on it.
No troubles yet.
This morning I set my task to remove the virgin mobile branding and apps permanently. I figured that installing official Android 2.3.6 firmware would be like a fresh install, like when you reinstall an operating system on a desktop computer.
I used this guide: http://www.androidauthority.com/gala...irmware-74471/
Ok, so I wasn't (and still am not) aware of the significance of the PDA code. But anyway, I saw s7500 and Android 2.3.6 and went ahead.
With some confidence, I flashed the PDA to the phone with Odin.
At about 85% it said it failed.
So now begun a set of actions that would ultimately destroy my phone (I think...)
I found another 2.3.6 firmware from sammobile.com (S7500XXLC3_S7500VIRLC2_VIR), downloaded it, tried flashing it. Again, failed.
I realised I had 2 kies processes running in the background. I ended them
Tried flashing again. This time it worked.
I was relieved... But then I realised that superuser was gone from my apps, however all my old apps were still there. I was confused.
I took this to mean that my phone was now de-rooted (again, still not sure if I was right or not)
I tried recovery mode when it was off and I couldn't get to it...
I then did the cwm and rooting process again...
I used Odin and installed CWM again.
Then, I successfully got into CWM recovery mode.
I used the RootMe.zip with a bat file to root the phone again.
I then pressed reboot now.
But then it reboots in recovery mode again. It was permanently stuck in boot mode.
I then spent ages looking around online, sort of frantically trying anything I found.
Every guide though, suggest you remove your sd card to put the required files on it. I can't do this. the only micro sd card reader I own is the phone.
I then found you could use the ADB push function to add files to the sd card while it was in recovery mode.
I followed the instructions from this thread: http://www.transformerforums.com/for...0-windows.html
This is where I did the stupid thing....
So, I follow the instructions to put exitrecovery.zip (from another CWM recovery thread) on the sdcard. I run the zip from CWM recovery.
I reboot.
Still boots in CWM recovery...
So then, I fail to notice that I am in fact reading instructions for an ASUS transformer and follow steps 1 to 10 in the aforementioned thread like an idiot.
I install the zip provided fro the wrong phone, and then I even more stupidly on the command line execute:
Adb shell
echo boot | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=0
exit
And then, I rebooted the phone.
And it never turned on again.
It is completely unresponsive.
The phone is literally not even a day old and it's fully bricked.
Well, I assume as much. I've tried recovery mode, download mode, and just plain turning on. Nothing.
I guess the next question should be, what do I do with my 1 day old brick?
Is there a chance that I can return it and get a replacement?
I'm very upset right now, so I remind you, please don't tell me how much of an idiot I am.
Here are some solutions:
TRY THEM FROM 1 - 4
1.FORCE DOWNLOAD MODE: -WORKS 50% (BEST TO TRY THIS ONE!)
If your phone doesn’t boot into download mode and you have a black screen after flashing froyo, here’s how you unbrick it. It has worked for many folks.
Instructions:
Prepare odin with the firmware u want to flash (in my case was gingerbread 2.3.3) and get it ready to go.
Remove battery, SIM and SD card, next connect your galaxy ace to the computer.
Hold Volume down + Power + Home button at the same time.
Insert the battery and wait a bit.
At this point Odin should have detected your SG Ace ( Yellow rectangle should appear)
Click Start button in Odin and wait about 5 min.
If all goes well it should come back to life.
Click to collapse
From Supermini
Click to collapse
Also you should know how to flash via odin:
1.On ODIN select the OPS button and load the Cooper_v1.0.ops file unto it. Ensure that the Auto-Reboot, Protect OPS and Reset Time is checked.
Unzip the firmware .Zip file in a folder If you get have the contents in .TAR (or .tar.md5), Check “One Package” option on the left side & skip PDA, Phone, CSC, BOOT options & directly go to ‘One Package’ option. Browse for the .tar (or .tar.md5) file & select it.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Else leave the ‘One Package’ option unchecked &
-Click on BOOT and select the file called APBOOT
-Click on PHONE and select the file called MODEM
-Click on PDA and select the file called CODE
-Click on CSC and select a file called CSC
WARNING: Do not select anything in EFS
Before connecting to the pc boot your phone in the download mode which can be done by pressing Middle Key(HOME Key) + Power key and Volume Down Key .
Click to collapse
4.Now connect your phone to PC via USB cable. On ODIN a COM Port mapping will indicate and turn to color yellow if the device is already detected. Click on Start.
Click to collapse
Wait until the whole process completes (around 5 minutes). A progress bar on the left side of ODIN will show you the downloading progress. When it says “Close Serial Port & Wait Untill Reboot” , unplug the USB. You’re phone mostly likely to reboot into new ROM now. Change the default language at your own Region & you’re done. Note- In some cases, you might get a bootloop. Simply shutdown & reboot into Recovery Mode. Wipe Cache partion & Clear personal Data/Factory Reset. Restart Again. Done!

Click to collapse
Also after it flashed (asuming it worked) go to recovery again and wipe data/factory reset
2.USB JIG:Cheap, you can build your own google "download mode JIG" -WORKS 50% of the time
3.Service center:Take it to your cell phone provider and ask for a repair when they ask you about roms...etc. act dumb..if the say ROM you say "Cd ROM?"They will laugh but fix you phone. -ALWAYS WORKS
4.Jtag repair: this will cost you some money, hopefully there is someone near you who can do this google for "JTAG repairs" -WORKS 75%
GOOD LUCK!
Option 1 doesn't work.
There is absolutely no sign of life.
Also, Option 3 - the nearest service centre is in Cornwall, Hayle, and I'm in Exeter Devon. That takes over 2 hours to drive there. Do they allow people to mail in their broken phones?
I've sent an email to samsung describing no more than 'my phone has died unexpectedly and I want a replacement'
They have yet to get back to me.
On the Samsung site, I noticed they have another support page, and in the top right, it says "Repair & Track Status", a bit like Apple have...
I've registered and clicked on this, and it takes me to a completely broken part of the site. I try and register my phone in My Products and it just hangs and says Data processing...

This is a nice guide to fully brick your device. You need to send it to samdung service center.

Uh oh
Okay. So after giving up with the email system (utterly useless), I finally phoned customer support today.
I described everything that had happened (a version in which my phone just dies unexpectedly with no wrongdoing from myself...), and I was sent an email with all the information I need to send it to a repair centre.
So, it's all packed and ready to be sent to Norwich Samsung Repair Centre.
...I am quite anxious though.
I asked if I'd be getting a replacement, and I was told I would be getting the phone I sent but repaired. Well... if they DO repair the phone, they'll see that I've tampered with it.
Unlike what I thought, I won't be getting a replacement... but what if they can't repair it?
I'm nervous I'm going to get an email or a phone call from someone at the repair centre with bad news... or confronting me on my heinous crime.
Also, if they find something, they'll likely remember my phone and my details and have it blacklisted from being repaired in any repair centre.
To add to my worries, I finally got a reply from my email:
Unfortunately we are unable to replace your mobile phone as your warranty in accordance with your statutory rights within the first 28 days lies with your retailer, after this time has elapsed your warranty is a repair only, therefore if the retailer are refusing to exchange the unit for you, all that we can offer you is a repair.

More and more seems like they won't be sending back a new shiny phone... which is a shame.
The virgin mobile branding really pisses me off.
Also, I have written a description of what happened to my phone which I must send with the phone to the repair centre. At the end of it I've added:
If it does turn out to be completely unrecoverable like I expect, I ask that you refurbish me with an unlocked phone. Unfortunately, the seller I bought this phone from claimed it was not locked to a provider, but it turned out to be locked with Virgin Mobile. In the time the phone was working, I had not yet changed providers/sims.
This would be much appreciated to save me the hassle of doing this.

Is this a good idea? Given that it seems quite unlikely I will be receiving a new phone, should I ask them for an unlocked phone?
I'm not sure if it looks a little suspicious...
Should I even send it off??? If I go in person will it increase my chances? Could i walk away with a repaired/new phone in the same visit?
Please give me some answers
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure they won't know you've tampered with it if it's fully bricked
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
You use the excuse of updating it via KIES, that should have bricked more phones than ROM manager.
One of the later resorts is to get 3 100ohms resistors and make a USB Jig, youtube it if you want further information. I havent tried it myself but it seem to have rescued quite a few phones.
It's been sent back.
Probably should have tried a jig first... but I figured I MIGHT get a replacement unlocked phone if I sent it back and it was beyond repair.
...Or, they might find out I tampered with it in a bad way, black list me, send back the phone and give me a firm slap on the wrist for being such a stupid **** (starts with c, ends in t).
Also, in the email, it said this:
You can send the handset off for repair by using one of the below address options:
‘FREEPOST SAMANREP’ (This is a freepost option)
(On the front of the envelope)’
OR
‘A NOVO COMMUNICATION HOUSE (This is a standard delivery option and will be chargeable)
SAMSUNG
VULCAN ROAD NORTH
NORWICH
NR6 6AQ’

So, I did the above option, I just put FREEPOST SAMANREP on the envelope. This seemed strange to me at the time. When I took it to the post office, the lady behind the window looked at it and gave me a puzzled/concerned look, and I explained to her the reason behind it.
I sent it anyway.
Won't be too surprised though if it's sent to the return address in a couple days...
What's weirder is googling FREEPOST SAMANREP returns absolutely zero results. Try it yourself if you don't believe me.
What do you think? Weird?
Also, I'd like some reassurance about my return. I'm quite anxious that I'm gonna get in trouble.
you should have send it through standard courier. FREEPOST SAMANREP doesnot seem to be an address to me. Even I googled it, but it returned 2 results which were your post at xda. So I dont think such a thing exists. But anyways, just hope that I am wrong and your handset reaches samsung
Arses.
If it's wrong then really, wtf Samsung!!! I knew it looked weird... damn it.
I've seen a sorting office, and I know they do a very good job of finding the correct address if it is incorrectly written/illegible... But if the address doesn't even crop up on Google, then it can't be an address surely, and I'll probably be getting it back in the mail by the return address.
Wait and see....

Hi all
I would like to thank everyone in advance and hopefully someone will be able to guide me to resolve my concern, Bell Samsung Vibrant will not go Pass the Galaxy S logo once powered on.
-Was the Phone ever rooted in the past? No, it's less than 2 weeks old, First ever Android, previous Windows mobile/ Iphone User.
-Did I encounter any error? Yes, Invalid or Damaged internal SD, I believe my main mistake was taking the battery off while the device was left powered on. The device was stuck on a loop cycle then after.
-Did I install any Apps on an External SD card? No, never got a chance to.
- Why not save the hassle and just return/ repair phone from your carrier? Unit bought online from craigslist and was not provided with a receipt, Paid a decent price and confirmed IMEI doesn't have any negative file from carrier at the time of purchase.
- Did I contact Samsung Canada at all? Yes and they won't take any accountability as the carrier must follow their own repair/ return process.
Just a Summary of what was done:
Charged and attached for atleast an hour.
- Tested by plugging it to the Wall charger (Device assumed OFF), the screen goes on a loop cycle from the Galaxy S Logo to a blank black Screen back to the Galaxy S logo and so on.
-Attached and tested ALL USB ports (Windows 7 64 bit) and the screen goes on a loop cycle however this time I get a drained battery logo and a stuck time capsule in the middle of the screen.
Downloaded Samsung softwares: Kies_1.5.1.10074_2_6, Kies_1.5.0.10024_74, Kies_1.5.1.10074_45.
-The device only goes on a loop cycle from a drained battery logo back to a black screen while connected to the USB port. It appears the device is not being detected. No visible partnership between Bell Vibrant device and the Kies drivers.
Desperate to attempt anything, I even tried rooting the device by attempting all possibilities to get it to Recovery mode or Download mode however my best efforts did not avail. Before anything was attempted, I confirmed the device was powered off first before taking the battery out.
-Held down the Up volume button and Power button and released the power button only
-Held down the Down volume button and Power button and released the power button only
-Pressed Up volume, Down volume button and Power button and released the power button only
-Held down the Down volume button, Home button and Power button and released the power button only
-Held down the Down Volume button, Home button and Power button and released the Home(middle) button only
-Held down the UP volume button, Home button and Power button and released the power button only
-Held down the UP volume button, Home button and Power button and released the Home(middle) button only
Also downloaded Update.zip and android-sdk_r06-windows.zip
-extracted and confirmed SDK was installed successfully however my device was not detected. Ran from CMD [unable to enable the USB debugging in Applications]
-confirmed the how to steps taken intended for Bell.
Im still optimistic that I can expect the best possible outcome from this situation or I have to hunt down the individual who sold the device
Please verify if I can attempt an alternative or if took a wrong turn with any of the steps mentioned above.
If you live locally in Toronto [GTA] and would like to take on this challenge, Please PM me..
Feel free to drop your comments as to how this issue can be resolved. Please!
Thanks in advance!
Kind Regards,
mamasboy
Update: 3:00am
Hours later and still no luck!
Any ideas how I can approach Samsung Canada directly and have them deal with the situation?
here is a post here on how you can access using something called ADB ? It can be used apparently where the three button recovery can not be entered. Try looking under three button recovery in the search on the forum. Hope this helps.
How i get into recovery mode is by restarting the phone by holding the power button and continuously tapping all 3 Home +power+ vol up at the same time
And if it works it will go into the recovery mode before the screen changes.
see if you can boot into recovery mode
wiki has instruction to get into recovery mode http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Galaxy_S/Vibrant_GT-I9000M
once in recovery mode, try the data wipe option, also the cache wipe option
then reboot back to normal

Hey,
The SDK was successfully updated. It downloaded all the new patches and required files, the sdk does work however when I get to the point of:
adb device (Hit enter)
list of devices attached (blank entry)
-even attempted other commands but getting error: device not found

Hey AllGamer,
Thanks for the help and I checked the link and reviewed and re-attempted but still to no avail..
I may have the disabled recovery/download mode Bell batch and it seems the only option out of this is to get the device replaced
I had the same problem...Currently Samsung is 'repairing' my phone. Instead of going through all this trouble, I would rather suggest you to go and exchange it.
If they dont replace the phone for you, just call samsung social hub help desk (1-888-751-4078). They will give you a ticket number and then you can send your phone to samsung via any Bell corporate store.
The samsung social hub guy told me that it would take 5 business day to repair but the person at Bell store told me that it can take 2-6 weeks.
I'm in the same boot as you, altough i'm in a different country.
nevertheless, same sh*t
I did however discovered today that when I start the phone, connected trough usb, I does detect what seems to be a part of the phone, have a look at this image (was done on a XP virtual machine, but my WIN7 does the same.
I get a G: and a H: in the device manager.
But I cannot access those, maybe or maybe not, this might be our only hope, before I send it back.
But I refuse to give up (yet)
Exact same problem you had. Phone would not load past Galaxy S logo. I did not hack or root my phone either. Seems this is becoming a larger issue. Recovery mode was disabled on my phone too. It is now with Bell being sent for repair. I would suggest you do the same, I wasted 3 days trying to get the phone into recovery mode to no avail. If Bell has any in stock they may swap for you. They did not when I took mine in unfortunately.

Wow thanks 5 business days is acceptable. I'm currently back on my Windows Mobile device as a back up phone for now. I will definitely give them a call first thing tomorrow morning!
This is what concerns me going down the road. Any of you recall the Samsung Instict? aka Iphone Killer.. "roll eyes" Could it be that Samsung didn't put enough research and development into the Operating System/ Hardware and deployed the Galaxy S series prematurely? One can only ponder...
To be continued...

Hey patj3, it seems you have a better chance than the rest of us. Attempt to delete or uninstall what you highlighted in yellow, unplug device, reboot computer and before you plug the device, Install the latest kies software from Samsung and allow it to fully install. It's missing drivers and is unable to recognize the unit. search "[GUIDE] ADB, Fastboot, and Nandroid for Noobs" here in XDA.
Good luck, I may be throwing the towel as early as tomorrow

Just an update..
I went through the regular repair process, it looks like I'm looking at 3-6 weeks.
Regards..
I had the exact same problem except I rooted it and it was after I applied a lag fix but luckily it wasn't even a week before I got the phone so I just brought it in and bell gave me a new one on the spot lol. Hope you can get it repaired.
The same problem here also. I did not root it or put anything aftermarket. Only unlocked it with a code. Bestbuy did not want to do anything because it is 4 days pass the 30 day mark, not talking about the 14 days 30 min. I spoke to Samsung support and they told me to go to Bell store and have it sent for repair. I did complain to Samsung that it is unacceptable to have a 34 day use of a device and 2 months for repair. Now I am waiting for the superviser of the tech suppoert to call me by the end of the day today, but no news from hem yet. Tomorrow first thing in the morning I am calling again Samsung to look for the superviser of the superviser.
P.S. Bell did not ask me for an account number of phone number with them. Only took $47.00 in case if there was a water or mechanical domage. It is refundable.

What if they dont have it in stock?
That was case with me,
so i went to another bell corporate store,
they send me away, claiming that only the place you got it from can replace it.
its been now 20 days with the phone, and the guy (bell corporate location) does not have it in stock,
he says he does not know when he can get it.
so i dont know if there is truly a shortage, but that is what they are telling me.
help.
if it makes you feel any better
I've had one on order through my corp plan at work for over a week, usually if quantities are low it will say so on the ordering site, or it will say on backorder, well it didn't, they don't have them, supposed to get a shipment this week, shipment hasn't arrived yet.
this will be my 2nd crack at a Vibrant, the first one was riddled with small yet important issues as well as the GPS didn't work. Hoping for a better one this time, if not I'll try and get a 'Desire Z' down the road.
Neil
Yes you read it right I want to know how I can brick my phone or make it stop working completely. Now let me explain the reason why. I had installed an app called "Launcher Pro". Later I uninstalled it and that is when all hell broke lose. Basically when ever I would swipe my screen to unlock the phone, I would get constant error messages that would reappear the moment I would close them, and to make matters worse it would lock out the rest of the screen so I can not click any thing else (just like in windows vista and windows 7 when a UAC message pops up). This is further complicated by the fact that I have a Bell Canada Samsung Galaxy Phone, which does not have the 3 button recovery ability but that is not the end of my problems. I got this phone at a store called Best Buy and got their warranty. Now one of the things that voids the warranty is unlocking the phone, guess what?? My phone is unlocked. So since my phone is not dead, it boots up, the lock screen loads up, the top bar shows u the battery life and the fact it is getting service and can receive calls (but which I can not answer since when it comes to that screen, the screen freezes up with the error messages). So if I take the phone to Best Buy, they are going to pop in a different sim other then bell and when they see that it works, will hand me back my phone and void my warranty. So I need to have the phone in such a condition that they can not check that and yes there can be no physical or water damage either. How do I accomplish this?
Is it rooted ? Did u happen to enable usb debugging ?
If so a mere "adb reboot recovery" followed by a wipe data would solve ur issues
Ya it is rooted, but usb debugging is not activated and I can not activate it the normal way through the settings screen, if you would know a way to do it some other way, that would be great. Just to let every one reading this know, I do not want to change my phone if I can help it, if there is a way for me to fix this with out bricking the phone and getting a new one, I will be more then happy to keep my current phone. Thanks

Have you tried booting into safe mode. Usually booting into safe mode will disable any 3rd party apps from loading. This might give you the chance to uninstall LauncherPro or even enable USB debugging. The method to get into safe mode for the Bell Vibrant seems tricky though:
Menu + Home + Power On right when you see the Samsung logo (specifically: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8583886&postcount=17) probably hold the keys. I know in the other Android phones (HTC Ion) you have to hold Menu from beginning til it boots.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758678
Seems to work sometimes...
Why dont you just re-lock your phone?
Sent from my GT-I9000M using XDA App
Why unlocking it with code would void the warranty? if you flash, yes, maybe. but you enter the unlock code... isn't the official way? Don't bother how i got the code, I bought it, it's mine, i can unlock it. period. i dont understand how they would consider to void the warranty because you unlock with code. btw, Bell does give unlock code for 75$. so, my phone is not eligible for warranty?

Guys c'mon.. At least read his post. He can't gain access to the phone at all right now. How do you expect him to relock?
Honestly with no adb you can't do much if u dont have 3button working
Try all those 3button tricks posted for those who can't get to recovery/download mode.
One if i recall is :
Turn off phone
Press n hold Home + Vol Down (or Vol up, up 2 u) + power
Keep holding, your phone will restart once, then twice, then let go off power button.
Its worth a shot
I work at best buy. They will not stick another sim card into the phone. Is it within the 30 day return policy? If its within 30 days go return it and show them the phone dont work and they will exchange it for you.. If its not within the 30 days they will most likely have to send the phone out to Samsung.
What i would do :
1. Take the phone back to the store.
2. Tell them the thing dont work...they wont know if its unlocked or rooted.
3. Ask them to exchange it under the manufactures warranty (if its not within the 30 days) and hopefully they will exchange it and not have to send it out to samsung.
WIN.
PM me if anything.
Asked the rep at best buy (by the way this is best buy Canada), and he said warranty is void if unlocked.
like eduard said, just take it do them. don't even ask or mention unlocking coz that will make them think that you have unlocked it.
take it there, say it doesn't work. done. don't ask, don't tell.
lol thats why you dont tell him you unlocked it! wow man.
its not about you telling them that u unlocked it, their procedure is to insert a different sim into the phone before sending it out for repair and/or exchange. And that is when I will be caught. So aside from giving best buy the phone, does any one else have any other ideas?
Did you try this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813580
I also have a Bell SGS. I got it from Wireless Wave and fortunately I have 3b recovery. You've tried both (up+home+power) as well as (down+home+power) right? You let go as soon as you see the boot screen that says i9000.

Water damage is not covered by warranty.
From what i read, i can't imagine this is a hardware problem (though i could be wrong), so probably the worst that can be is that your phone needs a reflash. How much would that cost in CA if you can't talk it into a warrantee case?
Ya its not a hardware issue, its a software one. Let me give u more information. The phone boots and goes to the lock screen. Shows the correct time and date and shows on the top that it was connected to my phone service but the moment I swipe the screen to unlock, I get repeating messages, one of them reads "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. please try again." and the other reads "The application TwLauncher (process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". Both messages have a "force close" button on the bottom that takes the message away just for it to reappear a second later.
Also from what I have been reading in the forums, if I can only get my phone into usb debugging mode in any other way then the typical MENU > Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging, it would solve all my problems. If any one knows how to do that, please share your knowledge.
There is a post on here for making a USB dongle that powers the phone straight into download mode.
You need a USB plug and a resistor.
You can then re flash.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Here's what you can do:
When you've started the phone (and the error messages come up) you connect your device to your PC with the USB cable.
At that point you'll see a new menu on the background (behind the error messages) for the selection of your connection (Samsung Kies, Mass Storage, etc...)
Click away the error messages very quickly and press the button Samsung Kies (you may have to try several times before you can do this but it's possible)
Then you open Samsung Kies and you use the procedure that is mentioned in the post below to reflash your device with a test firmware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=766589
Make sure to read through that tread to know what codes you have to use in the registry. You should be able to flash your device in Kies with a (test/official) firmware this way.
In the end you my not even have to return it at all...
Firstly, may I apologise, I know this has been covered, I've trawled the internet for hours but just can't seem to get an answer.
I recently updated my UK, unlocked Galaxy S to Froyo via the registry hack, all was fine (ish). Because Froyo had been delayed in the UK and wasn't as great when it was running on my phone I thought it would be safer to revert back to 2.1 and wait until the official UK release came out (I know some will ask me why I did this, I just felt that Froyo was held back for a reason and I couldnt get an answer as to if I could update to the UK version if I already had the Scandinavian one). So I did the reg hack again and was offered 2.1. Everything seemed to go smoothly until the phone rebooted after downloading from Kies. Now the phone's animation starts then the flashing S symbol displays for an extended time. After that, the screen goes black. If I touch the two touchscreen buttons they stay on but do not go off. If I hold the power button the phone turns itself off and when the phone is powered off and I plug it into my PC with a USB, the battery charging sign comes on.
The phone was rooted and I did have the OCLF on but uninstalled that and un-rooted before changing the firmware so it was back to stock.
Before I get 20 people telling me to put the phone in download/recovery mode I must tell you that I can't. My phone has never been able to do it. I've tried every single way and button order suggested. I'm not the only one who's phone won't do it either so it's not just me. The only way I ever saw recovery mode on my phone was when I used the one click root on the PC.
I'm at a total loss. Debugging was turned off because Kies won't let you do anything with it turned on and so ADB recovery is out also.
Please help if you can.
Many thanks,
Ryan
Boot to download mode, do a repartition with Odin and 512 pit flash, remove battery and boot again to download mode and then do a odin firmware flash to which ever firmware you want.
thanks intratech but I can't boot the phone into recovery or download mode (sorry should have stated that). Believe me, I have tried every combination. I did a lot of research and discovered that there are quite a few people for whom that feature was disabled.
if the 3 button combo is not working on your phone, you should not do these risky stuff actually

thanks Noobproof. I remember coming across that thread last night. Although I consider myself ok with software, soldering and slicing just isn't my forte. I haven't got a clue about soldering, etc. I've just come back from the Carphone Warehouse (Samsung suggested I go there as they are the service centres listed on the Samsung UK website). The engineer had the phone for half hour and said that the "board was faulty". Haven't got a clue what he meant by that, unless he meant the internal SD which a few people have had go on them. Anywho, he told me to ring Samsung and send it in for a repair. I did that and need to send my phone special delivery to a company called regenersis in Scotland.
I knew rooting and flashing custom roms was a risk, that's why I never touched Odin, etc. I used Kies to upgrade to Froyo and Kies to downgrade back to Eclair. You would think that sticking to official Samsung software would be safe. I must admit, when it was going well I loved my Galaxy but more and more I'm starting to wish I'd opted for the Iphone. It just seems that there have been so many glitches and bugs, I mean, why should there ever be a need for lag fix in the first place? I often found myself keeping my fingers crossed when downloading simple apps as that was usually touch and go!
Feeling a bit deflated now. Was hoping some clever boffin had designed a software solution that would recognise the phone and force it into download/recovery mode.
Ah well, thanks for taking the time to respond anyway.
Best wishes,
Ryan
You know i was very happy when i for the phone for the first time and while i was doing a research (i live in turkey and there is no stock android market here) i came along this forum. And i have learned that i havent got the 3 button combo. I downloaded the 3 button fix abd took the phone to samsung centre.
They told me that they cannot flash it and i made a huge fight then they accepted and i have my 3 buttons. Never give up your phone. I dont think the internal sd is faulty it is just corruppted if you can access the recovery menu you could fix it. Any way you have to find a service centre that has an anyway jig box other a jtag box otherwise they will have to replace the motherboard. Good luck

Hope it helps others with black screen problem after booting
thanks

I had the same problem too. This method really works.
Wysłano z GT-I9000 z użyciem Tapatalk
I attempted to root my Galaxy S (Ohh, i live en Denmark and it's not branded but my provider is "3") but i somehow got some links mixed up, so instead of getting the right firmware for my SGS for 2.2 i got one which is 2.2 BUT, when it starts/shuts down it takes 2-3 times longer because there's an "AT&T" logo/bootscreen.
So i thought i would just flash it to "I9000XXJE2" so it would be 2.1 and i could start over. But here comes the biggest problem, is that when i just connect it to my PC it shut's down
And since it got the personality disorder where it thinks it's from the US and AT&T i can't get into download mode either, have literally searched since 11 PM last night (10 PM here now..) i'm so freaking tired and annoyed, been using a "Nokia 3310" to make calls.
So i don't now what the hell to do!..
Is there some how a way to root/something/fix whatever from the phone? Cause i can start it, but download mode/recovery doesn't work, and it i connect USB it shuts down immediately.
Hope you Android masterminds can help me!.. I'm going to bed now and see if there's answers later...
Theres no way to fix it, Send it to repair shop or search in the site for Galaxy S JIG as its hardware device that forces the SGS into download mode.
The JIG method would work fine. Give it a shot!
just encase you're not sure about the JIG thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
Hope you get it working
Thanks very much! I will try the jig thingy for a final try!.. Hope it works!
Okaay.. So apparently it's VERY difficult to get those resistors if you live in a small town in Denmark, and your mom denies to buy ANYTHING on the net..
And now the phone almost died, apparently it won't charge (Didn't notice at topic start) any other advice?.. I'm guessing Samsung/"3" won't help since
root=no warranty?..
EDIT: If it wasn't clear i can start the phone, but can't connect to pc get into DL mode, but i can access SD card from phone, so is there maybe something i can put on that? To help?..
Anyone?... I wrote to "3" and Samsung, but they say something about root and they can't help.
So i guess i somehow gotta find that resistor or=no phone?.. I mean, if it would just charge, i could see if i could make it work.. But now there's only very little battery, and i've tried SO many things from this forum!

I'm also from Denmark which software have you flashed and how?
You still have the white "Galaxy S" logo, not the AT&T logo, as the first thing on the screen when you boot up, right? It sounds like you have the AT&T CSC loaded, which is not the same as having the AT&T bootloader, which is what happened to a few people.
You still have the phone booting so you probably don't need the jig solution. Have you tried Terminal Emulator app with the commands "su" + "reboot download" (root required)?
It is rooted and i can start it up, and it won't recharge.
When i press powerbutton there is a white AT&T logo and then the normal Galaxy S start-up.
I rooted with "Doc Froyo" and then by accident in "SGS tools" from market pressed, and i'm not totally sure here, cause it was an accident. But something that said something about changing the lockscreen? and i either pressed JM6 "Eclair"
Or JE6 "Eclair" by accident (Stupid fat fingers..) and then it froze, and would'nt do anything so i rebooted it, and then it said AT&T and won't charge now/connect to PC both things shut it down, and it divides numbers weird..
I mean, it says for example: 123-45-1234 or something, ya know.. The US style, and it is like i'm driving at 9000 mp/h with the noise when i call someone (Tried it a couple of times)
(The number should be along the lines of 12345678)
Not sure what "Terminal Emulator" is, is there a guide/video to it?--
Tingen: I used something called "Odin v1.3" i think it was called and "Doc Froyo's"
And it was perfect, but cause of my fat fingers/clumsy self, i pressed "Apply" instead of the homebutton, and then it got "You're a moron" disease -.-'
And now the homebutton don't work either (Guess Captivate (Which it thinks it is now in menu, but when i start it, it says Galaxy S) has a touch homebutton or something?.. And back button which used to go one back, e.g. If i was in "some setting in settings menu" and pressed back it would go one back, now it goes back to desktop, back is kinda what "home" was before..
There's not much battery left, 25-30% but i can start it quick to see what it says in settings (The kernel/something/something) if that would help?..
Last time i turned everything off and connections of and no live wallpaper and airplane-mode and brightness down so hopefully, i can try something without it dying.. But just say if it can help and i will post those data
Thank you both, for answering my post, thought i was going to get no replies and end up with a new paperweight..
EDIT!!!: I think i'll post a video in a couple of hours (It's the middle of the night in Denmark right now)

It's the "Android Terminal Emulator" app from the market. Running it and entering the commands "su" and "reboot download" should get into download mode.
It's really risky flashing with so little battery left, you could end up bricking it much worse. If possible find someone with the same phone or a store who will let you charge the battery.
Because you've replaced the bootloader with the AT&T version you need to flash a full ROM that includes the standard bootloaders. Don't flash a 3-button fix or an update ROM. To check you have a full ROM make sure the PDA .tar file that you're flashing includes boot.bin and sbl.bin. You can open it to check with WinRAR.
I just very quickly tried that.. I got the thing downloaded, but when i wrote
SU it said not found.
So back again. I guess i need to see if others have a Galaxy which will let my put my battery in theirs so it can charge.
EDIT: Ohh, and also got the data from setting:
Model: SAMSUNG-SGH-I879
Firmware: 2.2
Baseband: I897UCJI6
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
[email protected] 11 #1
Build: FROYO.UCJI6
EDIT2: And the charger is in, and i noticed (Still can't see battery logo or anything) that from the M-USB (Cover is off) and to where the hole is (Where the battery sits) it's warm, but battery even now after 10-15 minutes isn't warm at all, it's like it goes all the way to the little gold thingys that connect the phone to the battery, and then stops there just before the battery.
The battery is getting SLITHGLY warmer in the top, but i think it's just from the top part of the phone being warm.
I'll post some pics/video with description later.
OH! If it helps, it seems it was not SGS tools! But "Galaxy S Tweaker" or GST from market, it has a white logo with a wrench on it, if you search on appstore and download the app you can see what i did.

It needs to be "su" in lowercase, did you try that? If it still doesn't work in lowercase it means your root didn't work, or isn't installed properly. Try the z4root app to fix it.
Tried lowercase, don't work.
What is "z4root" for?
I see it says root/unroot, but which should i choose?
Ok. downloaded it and i could choose root, so i did. now it says
"Please wait while root completes and you
device is rebooted..."
been like that for 3 minutes, how long does it usually takes?..
OMG I ****ING LOVE YOU! LOOK LOOK LOOK!!!!

It's been like that for a long time, but at least the pc recognizes it now, and DL mode is working! THANK YOU! If you lived in Denmark you'd be getting a case of beers now!
Even if this won't work, i at least can charge it and get into DL mode, the Z4 thing solver the root, and Terminal worked after that! Thanks!
Hmm it seems that it get's stuck in odin (tried odin v1.3 and on-click) at "SetupConnection"
But i'm going to see if i can maybe charge my phone now
EDIT: Aaaaaand now there's a weird
"mobile phone - - triangle with ! - - computer"
icon, hard to explain..
Hmm. Seems now i'm really screwed..
So if hairdryer heat thing won't work, i'm sending it to support, and hope they don't say "screw you, you broke it" (In sciency terms of course) and send a bill.
I hate this, right now until this work, my phone is an old Nokia which can make calls and won't send text messages.
I've been using smartphones for 5-6 years. I feel so "trapped" or "claustrophobic" with this Nokia.
Mailed Samsung a week ago, they said i should talk to my provider first, so i mailed "3" 3 days ago, and they said i should contact Samsung.. :S
So wrote to "3" again that they said i should contact Samsung. But they haven't answered yet, god it's frustrating!
As the title suggests, i'm having great difficulty connecting to any network (secure network at home which was working w/o problem and 2 other open networks).
It will show them "name - secured (wps available)" and upon putting in my password will remain "connecting" before staying "disconnected" or after it scans again turn to "saved - secured" and repeat this process.
I can manage to connect it via WPS however cannot get any access to the internet or it will repeat the process.
This happened after many trouble free days using a custom ROM. I'm not sure whether it started happening before or after i flashed a new rom, however nothing I do now seems to help. There doesn't seem to be any defaults to clear (looking through running applications and titanium backup), I've re-flashed different roms, kernels and modems with every combination of wipes and performed a 1-File factory firmware install on ODIN. I've read through towers of threads and haven't found an issue like this one but am getting frustrated in my limited knowledge of the android system.
Any advice is appreciated!

I will also add that using my phone as a Wireless AP works fine.
Another update which may help diagnose whats going on.
After getting it to connect to wifi via WPS button I can use it however bandwith is quite low and it connects on these channels, and after increasing my distance from the router it disconnects however is still visible

Have you tried resetting the modem router. When I had a s2 I had a similar kind of issue that was resolved by resetting the gateway.
My wifes motorola razr also had a similar problem and after upgrading firmware, wipes I had to factory reset the gateway to resolve the issue with that device.
I have only had it happen to me once with a samsung galaxy phone but I would give that a try

yes, i used my father's i9300 last night before bed to update his app's on wifi.
one thing that's crossed my mind is how well i've flashed the roms. as each rom i've gone to i've had my APN's in most and saved connections in some of them. is there something that isnt getting re-written or deleted when flashing or formatting? i've formatted the mounts in CWM, performed factory resets and cleared my caches in any number of ways... is there something i'm doing wrong :\
even after flashing a stock rom i still had my mobile AP's and misc. files on internal SD
have you tried any of these two fixes that work for some people

i don't understand what you're saying here. what does APNs have to do with wifi? what do you mean APN and "saved connection" (??) "IN" some of them? what does that even mean?
it doesn't sound like your wiping process is the problem here.

yes, the i9300 works fine, no reception issues with it nor any device at home. it is on ICS. as did my previous i9300 on ICS or JB...
THIS phone (my i9305) was working fine for the past 2 weeks on L335K1s 1.1.. until flashing a few other roms
what i was saying that after performing a full wipe (and obviously clearing cache), and flashing different roms i've found that sometimes it will keep my mobile APN's as well as some still have my saved wifi connection and some don't..
by comparison, when i first got the phone on an optus firmware i had to send myself the telstra APN via their mobile setup page. when flashing the same optus firmware last night my access points were already there when on first boot as was my wifi network name "saved & secured".

Im having the EXACT same issue (i9305 LTE 2gb UK on orange), HOWEVER i can confirm i've been running a stock ROM since i got it (around 2 weeks ago) so i can confirm its not just you having the issue, and it mightnt be through modding your firmware.
I get 6ft wifi range *at best*, although the range for network discovery is normal (i can see my router anywhere in the house as normal with max strength), but it only connects when within 6ft of range. Means WiFi is pretty much useless im physically sitting on/beside the router. I've tried this at my house, my mothers, friends, and at work, including wireless B, G, N and multiple brand routers (tp-link, Virgin Superhub, BT Home hub) and i can confirm nothing has worked.
Ive tried the *#0011# turning off wifi power saving to no avail. Tried turning off notification, and keep wifi on during sleep, and disabling check for internet service. nothing makes a difference.
All that happens is that it sticks on "connecting" for ages, then disconnects, occassionally saying theres no signal strangth despite there being full strength. Means unless i forget my networks its in a constant state of trying to connect which hammers the battery, and it doesnt connect when it should in the first place.
Tried doing a factory restore 3 times which has made no difference. My phone is rooted so i can use apps like titanium backup but apart from that its stock. I now need to figure out how to un-root it (to get rid of the red ! on bootup) so i can send this POS back
if you find a solution, please post it here and i will do the same. Any help or suggestions is appreciated
Livid to think we've only had the bloody thing a couple of weeks and this happens
Cheers

Not sure if this has been tried but what if you forget the network you are trying to connect to so the login info is erased for it and then re connect to it. I saw a similar thing on the weekend with a relatives phone after I made some changes on the router and forgetting the network and reconnecting solved his issue
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Premium HD app

What a relief that i'm not the only one, that is exactly what was happening to mine. (All I know is mine is an early model i9305, perhaps different to a majority of the i9305T's sold here, perhaps earlier hardware?)
After testing all I could, trouble-shooting with samsung through some pretty basic stuff, and performing hard and soft resets between flashing roms, I decided to send it off for repair, suspecting a hardware fault.
My advice to you, would be to get it exchanged immediately as if it is under a month old, it will fall under "Early Life Failure" (ELF). Whilst the issue doesnt completely render the phone useless, it was a fully functioning part of the phone that stopped working out of nowhere!
To un-root download Triangle away from here:
http://galaxys3root.com/galaxy-s3-unroot/how-to-unroot-galaxy-s3-i9300/
And download your stock firmware.
Triangle away appears to require a custom kernel to reset to 0 on this phone.
When you are ready to send it away, install a custom kernel, then install the Triangle Away app.
Run this, and then turn off your phone (do not restart or go into recovery as this will reset the counter again).
Now boot straight into download mode (or the binary counter will go up), and flash your stock firmware through ODIN.
It should now be a completely stock i9305, and after performing a hard reset (with *2767*3855# in the dialer), you should now have a clean phone to send away. :good:
I'll let you know the outcome of the warranty claim and what Samsung say.
Alright chap, update time. Let me break down your post so i can answer it bit by bit.
I ran triangle away, it got rid of the red "!" showing on the top left of my phone boot screen, cheers for that!
I next grabbed the latest firmware which is I9305XXALI5_I9305EVRALI5_EVR.zip from sammobile
flashed that with mobileODIN, now back on stock firmware which I already was on, and no red "!". however when i go to settings->about device and software update, it says "there are no updates available as your device has been modified" and when you go to Settings->about device->Status, then scroll to the bottom, device status shows as "Modified". I'm gonna need to get this back to "Normal" before i send it back.
Anyways, regarding my ****uation with orange. *******************************
My contract was upgraded renewed on the 9th, I got my S3 LTE on Monday 12th (of November). On Friday the 23rd I discovered something had happened with the WiFi, and it was completely borked for no apparent reason and is now since then reduced to its 6ft range distance. spent all of Friday night and Saturday morning trying to figure it out, including rooting on Friday night to see if that helped, to no avail.
Note: between getting the phone and rooting it (AFTER i got this issue), the phone was completely stock. Now i know how stupid it was to root after discovering the issue, but sod it I've done it now, so imma have to undo it. ANYWAYS....
Saturday (the 24th) afternoon, I went to an EE / Orange retail store, where all of the employee's in the store had a try to figure out the issue, with no success. They tell me to contact Orange via the telephone for a replacement (as apparently because I ordered my handset via the telephone, i had to contact them for a replacement).
I contact Orange on the phone on Wed the 28th (by now its passed the 14 days cooling off by a couple of days) and I get through to an absolute idiot who fills the foreign call center staff stereotype perfectly.
He gets my name, phone number and handset wrong several times EACH during the call, and tells me all i'm eligible for is my phone repaired. When I tell him i'm not happy, he changes his mind and says he will "make a call" and get a new handset sent out to me, and even asked me when the following day (today) i would like to take delivery of my new phone. This call takes approx 50 minutes, 20 mins of which was waiting for someone to answer, then 10 of the remaining 30 of the actual "call" was spent on hold.
He then calls me back to tell me my iPhone has been ordered and i should have it tomorrow (today). When i pointed out i don't want an iPhone, and my phones an S3 LTE (for about the 10th time) he says "the phone line for getting a new phone has just closed at 9pm" (it was then a couple of minutes past 9) and he gave ME a number to call since HE made a f*** up of the order.
Wake up today, go to work. On my lunch break call the number, which turns out to be the insurance hotline (Orange care) The lady on the phone reads my notes and is confused, according to what the guy last night had wrote down, My phone was a Galaxy note 2, later in the story it became an S3, and then he put in a claim for me having a broken iPhone.
I re-explain everything to her, and she was very sympathetic. She told me it wasn't an insurance issue, but a fault, and I needed to speak to someone from faults. I asked her to find me a English speaking person, of which she agreed. She came back twice after putting me on hold to say she'd found someone to speak to , but they could barely speak English. On the third attempt, she found someone who "can just about speak English, I've explained everything to her, so you should be OK".
After a 5 minute wait I get put through
I get put through to a lady who is speaking in broken English sentences. She first puts me on hold while she reads my notes (insert 10 minute hold time). She says all that can be done is for it to be sent away to be repaired. I say I want a new phone, as it was within 14 days of getting the phone, and I don't want to mess about with waiting to get my phone back, I just want a new one. She says "all that's popping up on my screen is repair". I said I'd go into the Orange store and take it up with someone in person.
/end of ****uation *********************
il update you on this once i get to the Orange store, which won't be until tomorrow.
in the meantime, any ideas on how to change it so settings->About Device->Device Status back to "Normal" and not "modified"?

Sounds like you were having just as much a PITA situation as me. It surprised my friend the other day that I had to send my phone away for repair (being an iPhone user...) and surprises me too for such a premium handset. I wish more companies took a page out of apples' book on this one. I generally try and be as patient as I can with these people and show them that i have done a lot of troubleshooting myself to save time. Often it will result in being transferred to the correct person to talk to a lot quicker.
Ok I should've made it a little clearer, I found that the phone would only be unrooted if I flashed a rooted firmware with custom kernel, and after running triangle away flashing the firmware ON A PC. This is what I meant by going straight into download mode (something about the way mobile Odin installs the firmware still causes the custom binary to appear)
Samsung have however repaired my phone (according to their online job tracker) and my phone is being sent back to me! (After almost 10 days.. probably 14 before I get it back!!!!!!). I will try find out what was wrong although I'm not sure how much Samsung will tell me. I am glad that the unrooting procedure worked without trace and my warranty was honored!
Another update: used desktop Odin to flash my phone back to stock rom after previously using triangle away. Still showing as modified in Settings->About Device->Status.
gonna go into the Orange/EE store tomorrow and complain (when i say complain, i mean about the dodgy wifi issues, not complain about it showing as modified XD). Any suggestions about how to get the modified status back to normal is most appreciated.
Did you flash from stock rooted rom? I had the same issue doing that. It was fine flashing from a rooted rom with a customer kernel
yeah i did, so that could be why. im pretty new to android (been an iOS guy for the last 4 years) so still trying to figure stuff out. doesnt really help that theres not much info out there for the i9305.
What custom kernal/firmware should i use from here? im guessing you mean to flash the rom again but to a completely modded firmware of some type, then back again to the stock one yeah? I've read something about backing up your imei and elf/efi data incase stuff goes wrong but ii havent done this yet, should i do that first?
Another Update:
Went into the Orange/EE store. was messed about by a member of staff who told me i had to go home and phone orange, then arrange repair via them. Left the store pissed off and went to Burger King. Went back to the store as by this point i'd wound myself up into a frenzy about the whole situation, Demanded to see the manager, demanded HE phone orange for me there and then, and sort this sh** out.
he got a regular call centre guy who said "all the computer is saying as a solution is repair, so thats it" so i demanded we got his boss on the line.
His boss comes on and says its out of his hands and he cant do anything about it, i told him "in that case you're no use, put someone who can" i demanded the orange store manager ask the call centre manager for his boss. He also tried being a smart arse saying it was out of the 14 day return period when i called orange to say i wanted it replaced. I pointed out it was INSIDE the 14 day period i first reported it as an issue to the orange store, and it was tough sh** that they hadnt acted to fix it then.
10 mins of hold later, guy next up the chain comes on, and says hes the person who over-rides the system for returns in odd cases like this, but says he cant override it without HIS bosses permission (you see where im going with this)....
10 minutes of hold later we get HIS boss on the line, who agrees to authorise the replacement.
we get passed back down the chain all the way to the beginning person, who arranges for a new phone to be delivered to my house between 9am - 1pm tomorrow via a courier (on a sunday).
Win.
I get home, my phones been flashed back to stock rom, but is still showing modifed as mentioned before. I do another factory reset on it (i already done one before) and its now showing as "normal", so maybe the un-rooting proceedure takes 2 factory resets? as i already done 1 earlier but it was still showing as modified? Either way, thats that done. My phone is now ready to be sent back to orange tomorrow, fully un-modded as it came, and im due a replacement as I wanted.
Finally Happy, but it wasn't easy.
Just hope my next S3 LTE doesn't suffer from the same issue, as there literally seemed to be nothing that would fix it.
Hope that helps anyone who has this problem with theirs.

How's this for a joke....
I recieved my phone back yesterday! (Yay?) I read my service report and find that the handset has had the latest firmware installed (the same one I had on it) and it has been tested to Samsung's Quality Control standards. Great?
I turn it on and within 10 seconds of starting it up (getting to the "connect to wifi" screen), I have the exact same issue and phone I sent off 2 weeks ago! They didn't "repair" anything, and now i'm being pushed around to other departments because apparently no one can deal with it directly. I'm now awaiting a reply (in 5-7 Business days) as to what the next step is in this saga, it's just so frustrating that someone didn't even properly test the phone after "repairing" it.
Sure enough my new phone arrived on sunday, the guy only took away the broken phone and charger, so i scored for a free pair of headphones and the box etc heheh.
I would bet my life samsung have got your phone and went "hmmm.... wifi signal shows as full strength", then tried to connect it to a router/tethering phone that theyre sitting next to/holding in their other hand, then said "well it connects, so it works" then sent it back, without even trying it at any sort of distance. I nearly flipped my lid in the Orange/EE store when they tried to tell me "the wifi is working as its working here" so i made the girl leave the note2 she was tethering from on the counter and take 3 steps away from the counter with my phone in her hand (at which point the wifi dropped). Its like you have to demonstrate to them what the issue is.
Also, this is something completely different, but i thought i should bring this up.
Hold your phone in 1 hand by its sides, then flick the centre of the screen with the other hand. Does it feel like its vibrating inside? almost like theres springs inside? Im just asking because the phone that broken was VERY "springy" inside, almost to the point of where you could hear the vibrations inside seconds after flicking it and it felt a bit like it was rattling, whereas the replacement lte (despite being an identical handset) has much less spring to it and feels a lot more solid in comparison, it only vibrates slightly inside when flicked. Tried with my mates regular S3 i9300 which has no spring to it at all, and feels much more solid, wonder if it just with the LTE's. Seems strange to try the same thing on 2 brand new phones and them to have a completely different feel to them though
