Battery extender? - LG Optimus Black

Hello, i am going on a long bustrip to Berlin,
and i would like to watch movies then. How can i extend the
duration of my battery? i use the ZEUS rom. Maybe someting i can do in
zeus tweaker?

-Underclock your cpu
-uninstall useless apps or keep them closed or freezed(mostly background apps)
-use dimmer light
-use low power earphones(in ear ones)
-use 2g mode only
-turn off lights of the buttons below(menu, home, back and search)
-disable sync of google, facebook, etc
-best thing...buy another battery or take your laptop or a portable dvd player with you

Best way to save battery life in cm9 alpha

I would love to have some tips on saving battery life in cm9 alpha. Especially when using the touch pad.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Flash the latest CM 9 nightly and you shouldn't have any problems with battery.
http://techerrata.com/browse/nightly_kangs/tenderloin
According to the changelogs it doesn't look like much has changed with respect to battery management in the latest nightlies . In fact some people have complained that it has gotten worse. How fast does your battery discharge during use?

I think the best way to save battery is that you dont use it at all...I mean if you're getting 10-12 hrs..then i think its good enough
I just flashed the latest CherryKang with the Bricked Kernel, and so far battery life has been much better. Aside from the rom/kernel, keep your brightness low, turn off any unecessary synching, etc.
If I'm not going to be using it for more than an hour or two I shut it down. CM9 boots up pretty quickly so its not a big burden.
Make sure Google talk is logged out, unless of course you use it. I do not, but read that it would be logged in automatically... I opened it and checked and sure enough it was logged in. That's one less app constantly communicating to the internet.
in settings go to wlan -> advanced and change wlan in standby to only when pluged in. this saves a lot of battery
additional to this im using setCPU and some profiles to save energy.
1. Time 00:00 - 06:00 max: 192; min; 192 and powersafe
2. screen off max: 432; min: 192 and conservative
3. battery <25% max: 594; min: 192 and interactive
and as overall profile ive set max: 1242; min: 192 and interactive
anyonelse who uses setcpu and might share his profiles?

When you're at the wi-fi settings, touch the 3 dots in the top right of the screen and touch advanced. You'll find it there.

Thanks MrWilliams I found it.
Hmm... the setting doesnt appear to be working. When I look at the Battery info even when it shows the the touchpad as being not 'awake' wifi always remains on. Any ideas?

[Q] Power Saving

Hey guys,
What do you think of turn on "power saving" when the phone is plugged to the charger in the night? I think it slows down the speed of the processor, so it might be a little help to charge it faster.
Am I wrong?
What do you use it for?

I don't think you will notice any difference. All it does is turning of wifi, BT and the gps. It also disables all auto sync. It won't affect the CPU since your phone goes to deep sleep
Hope I answered your questions!

Thanks but I want to add that I think that it actually underclock your CPU or turn off one core, becouse when you turn it on, the phone turns considerably slower.

When you charged your phone the power saving mode is disable if your phone works properly. In other work, the power saving mode only apply if you are using the battery.
Yes the power saving button just underclocks the CPU to a maximum of 1200Mhz (and probably disables a core too). Other features of the phone are disabled when you're in custom power saving mode.
It won't really charge it any faster as your phone's cpu always runs at a minimum of 200Mhz when charging. So unless you're using the phone as you charge, power saving isn't going to speed things up.
If you download CPU Spy you can see the percentage of time your cpu spends at certain speeds. Interesting stuff!

Best setting for better battery backup(not in idle situation)

Hey guys i use ICS333 ROM with Semaphore kernel 1.2.6s.

The first step in prolonging your battery life is to find out which apps and components are using the power.
Press the Menu key, tap Settings, scroll to the bottom of the Settings menu and tap About Phone. Tap Battery Use in this menu to see what's eating the charge.
Better is use Gsam battery monitor, if you have apps eating your battery this app will find them.
Lock maximum frequency to 800 or 400. Phone will be slower but you'll get better battery performance.

[Q] Do you think using auto brightness is good??

I heard that auto brightness consumes more battery
But its also something exclusive to our phone comparing to the s3 mini
So, do you guys think its worth using??
No, if you want to save battery. Btw, I don't think you need to open a thread for question like this..
For a long time I used autobrightness, but now it seems to be better if I change turn the screen brighter when I need, or if the sun shines so bright, any other time my brightness is on minimum.
What i do is:
Brightness- lowest most of the time
outdoor- auto when i want
Btw, for dialling no.s quickly i used a tasker profile (when i launch phone/messaging b/w 8am-6pm it sets auto brightness on)

For those who don't know , tasker is an app which is used to automate your phone. (It uses an"if this then that" logic.
Search Google play for tasker.
Such a setting is called a profile.

Ya know what button to hit!
I always have brightness at 100 and still a good battery life

Auto brightness is constantly using the sensors to gauge the brightness levels so is no good for battery life.
Use it only when needed like outside in sunlight.
Indoors minimum brightness is fine and is much better on battery.

Sensor should be shutdown when screen is turn off and active only when screen is active. The easiest way would be check interrupts in kernel
Code:
cat /proc/interrupts|grep sensor_name
. If it generate a lot of interrupts when screen if off it may cause battery eating, but then is fault in driver.
I turn off auto brightness first thing. It never goes dim enough when in a dark room or bright enough in daylight. I also see battery saved when I manually control it. Been doing this with all phones I have had... just sayin'

LG P990 battery drain when the overclock to 1.4GHz

LG P990 battery drain when the overclock to 1.4GHz.
I think the kernel I used support overclock to 1.4GHz. But it happens that battery drain so serious that I cannot even charge the phone?
I am using LG android 4.1 rom. Anyone faced similar problem and know how to solve? thanks
Its known that higher OC = higher drain. But the drain shouldnt be so much massive.. Try to check with BBS what OS using your battery..
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
thx for suggestion, I am now using BBS to check battery state.
But the most weird thing is that, if i stick to no overclock, the battery life has no problem.
BBS result: I found that if i overclock, the mobile cannot deep sleep. Or in fact, if I overclock to 1.3GHz, set as interactive mode. The CPU keeps at 1.3GHz for most time.
So that's your problem.
Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=75
Use trickster mod app and set min/high frequencies and on governor control setting choose on over which load your cpu will go on high/max frequencies....

I guess i find the problem.
The media server is draining the battery.
As far as I did not listen to music, it is ok.
But if I use EsExploer or playerpro to play a music for an hour. The BetterBatteryState showed that the CPU freq keeps at 1GHz for an hour.
What can I do to solve the problem? I googled a lot, including "repair" all music on sdcard, etc, many so called solutions did not solve the problem. thanks
