Sorry in advance - I know there are a lot of guides for unrooting and re-flashing stock ROMs, but I've so far had no luck with any of those. I rooted a while ago and since then have been locked out of OTA and stock ROMS – I’m using a modified version of stock Gingerbread. I have downloaded the ICS update.zip and was hoping to flash this, however I understand this isn't possible (but tried anyway) with my current set up.
I know I can wait for some kindly soul to produce a 'cracked' version of the update but would rather be able to use stock and OTA a lot more easily. I think the issue is the root method I used, was the first available for Inc S at the time, so I think it was Unrevoked, although if not it was Revolutionary. Have had to update Hboot since then to get my GB ROM to load on.
My current boot info displays as:
Vivo Pvt Ship S-off RL
HBoot-7.00.1000 (it’s the 4pda.ru one)
Radio_3805.06.03.03_MeMMC-boot
I’m on 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0 and the software number is 3.08.405.3
If it’s relevant at all, when I first get in to bootloader I am greeted with some img32 errors.
Don’t think (read: hope) I’m not being too much of a noob here, although would love a quick fix! Does anyone have any suggestions or know of a guide to follow for this? Thanks a lot.

Hello,
I have some question regarding HBOOT:
What is HBOOT?
What is the difference between Bootloader and HBOOT?
Why should I upgrade or why I shouldn't?
If I upgraded it is it easy to downgrade?
Mine is HBOOT-0.33.0012 and there is a version HBOOT-0.35.0017
Because some ROMs requires the newer version and I saw some article warn not to update!!
Thank you and Regards.

1. Hboot is the boot loader.
2. See above.
3. Upgrading to the new Hboot supposedly gives you some small benefits such as better reliability in certain cases. It is also supposedly required by gingerbread. Most of the AOSP builds of gingerbread don't require the updated Hboot, but the initial builds required it. If you upgrade to the new hboot, I believe you loose the ability to flash images by the PASSIMG method (renaming a signed image to passimg.zip). The new Hboot was rolled out as an update along with the FRG83D OTA. I see no real reason to upgrade it or downgrade it. Messing with it could be dangerous.
4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726258 I wouldn't say it is easy, but it is possible to downgrade. Not sure why you would want to. Downgrading an SLDC Nexus will brick it.
The warning to not update was due to some ROMs not working on .35 as the update script was checking for .33, however this was months ago and is no longer an issue.
Thank you guys for the reply, I already upgrade it to use a gingerbread rom, I think I'm going to stick with it for awhile. If I needed urgent to downgrade it I will try it but not now.
Don't worry, you'll never need to downgrade it.

Hey xda,
I kind of feel like needing help understanding my situation. Normally I read a lot and understand all this stuff around modding quite ok, but I'm at a point with too many grey zones of half-understanding, I guess.
So I have an HTC ONE, bought in germany half a year ago, with Sense and all that HTC-branding. When the google edition came out, it was easy installing a custom recovery and a vanilla JB google rom (I'm not quite sure today why I did it, but I also flashed HBOOT to 1.54). There was no need thinking about s-off (I'm still s-on) and RUUs. Even OTAs worked seamless.
Then came the OTA for 4.4, I hit update and got stuck in a bootloop. Finding out that it was cwmr took me a while.. I began reading and realized that I would need s-off to install the OTAs. Here's my first question: Why? What changed that I can't install it via custom recovery like before?
And is it just a matter of time, until there's a flashable version of vanilla kitkat?
Now I'm running OneDroid by ssrij, which doesn't requires s-off - why doesn't this one need s-off, but most of the others do?
Any words for clarification would be really appreciated!

I would forget about the why and just get busy getting rumrunner to work to get s-off. just flash a stock rooted 4.3 rom and use rumrunner.
also make sure your on TWRP 2.6.3.3 before flashing any of the kitkat roms
this is as close to pure android as I could find
HTC One Nexus Edition 2.0

luckily I'm still happy with onedroid rom, so no need for further experiments
but the why is bothering me nonetheless. especially: is it just a matter of time (like something official isn't published yet) till there's a s-on flashable vanilla kitkat?
i'm a bit new to android and the whole rooting and ROM so please excuse my ignorance.
two days ago i updated my phone to KitKat 4.4.2 and since then i have almost no WIFI it keeps disconnecting i tried many solutions but non seem to help. Also i have been experiencing crashes from different apps and lets just the phone is not that usable anymore.
HTC One is my favorite phone i ever owned until i updated to 4.4.2.
i read a lot about ROMs, flashing and S-On/Off but it's getting very confusing at this piont specially to which version i might need. so maybe some one cant point me to the right place.
i just want to be able to restore back to 4.3 which was running a lot better then 4.4. is it possible to do so?
if it means i have to install a costume ROM that's fine as long as i can go back to 4.3.
i have HTC One (Europe) bought without a contract.
I got this information from holding the power and Volume down buttons.
--locked--
M7-UL-PVT
S-On RH
HBoot: 1.56
radio 4A.25.3263.21
OS: 4.19.401.11
is there any other info needed?
is it possible to downgrade to 4.3, preferably RUU if not possible then ROOTing.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE
Maybe just a heads up if it's possible to downgrade? or if possible with Flashing an older customer ROM?

a LOT is possible, but you will need to unlock your bootloader, and possibly need S-Off, depending how far you want to go.... the question is, are you really intending to do that?? my first impression would be, probably not
there's a lot of reading and research to do for that (at least if you want to do it right)
as for WiFi, this didn't help: http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com/2014/02/how-to-fix-wi-fi-htc-one.html
neither changing the channel on your router
Hey guy I have been doing research for about 2 hours now but can't really find a straight forward answer and I was hoping for the expertise of the users in this forum instead of thread crapping on my post. Here is my phones specs for my Sprint HtcONE (m7)
ViperROM 1.0.4
HBoot: 1.44 S-ON
Radio:1.00.20.0315
Recovery: TeamWIN 2.5.0.0
So yea, as you can see really old stuff lol. I have been away from all of this in a really long time and lost most (if not all) of my knowledge on updating. I am trying to obtain the latest available updates that Sprint released but I am not sure where and what to begin from. All the information I was seeking isn't really specific and if it is, it is specific to the subject at hand (i.e. updating from the last previous version) and not updating from such an outdated versions. I am interested in obtaining the latest radio, hboot, etc... for my sprint phone but also being able to put on modified roms. Ideally I would like to try out the new Viper Rom. Do I have to achieve S-OFF and then get the latest Sprint OTA update to have my phone fully updated to the latest software? If so, I tried going to the htc site and sprint site but cant find the latest updates. Where do I look? Does the update install all stock or do I still have the custom recovery? Any information to help me achieve the latest updates and moving to the latest Viper Rom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

... Dear 1st of all unlock your bootloader from htcdev, then go to rumrunner.us and get S-Off. Now you are ready for next step which is to update you firmware. follow the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658910. After s-off flash the full firmware from the before link and then run latest RUU from the same link and you will be on latest firmware and stock rom. afterwards have fun with your device installing custom recovery and root ...
Hey all,
I am happy with all things rooting/flashing etc... been doing it for years. Problem is when i change my phone i usually go for a different make thus need to learn all new procedures. I rooted my HTC ONE with no issues, and i have been upgrading my TWRP with flashable zips.... Alas now i need to do more to get phone uptodate with firmwares etc...
Today i finally got round to S-OFF my phone (i am on 1.54 HBOOT) and all is good. I would like to upgrade the firmware and HBOOT to newer ones simply because i feel i need to now. Reason being - i am so many firmwares behind now the new ones have got to improve my phone (Some areas my reception is rubbish if not non existant!!). I need to update my TWRP to 2.7.1.x too as the new Viperone ROM wont install on 2.6.3.3...
So i was going to install https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LQDLpVZYyUpXPgC2sh1BvAS9Oo8B-fTiZU_JhpIH-fU/pubhtml the latest file from here - 18.08.2014 6.09.401.5 http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712458599
c650f37bde1ef869ed1218c23047fafb m7_ul TWRP 2.7.1.1 but i wanted to double check that im ok to do so and its the right file??? This i presume from what i have read will update the firmware/radio and latest TWRP with stock HBOOT of 1.57??
Can anyone just clarify if this is right please before i go ahead... If i should do the HBOOT/firmware/twrp all seperate thats fine... just wanted the advice first from more knowledgeable people!!! :good::good::good:
And... if it is right - should i reflash the ROM i am on after or as its a no-wipe it should boot ok??
Im really sorry if its a simple answer. but i just cant get a definitive one from all the threads i have read - plus some mention MID and CID which i was hoping i wouldnt have to touch really if i can help it...
Really do appreciate any help here... sorry for the long post...
ps i am currently running ViperONE 6.2.1 if that makes a difference..
