Why Chrome? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Themes and Apps

So after updating to ICS decided to download Chrome. After doing so i found out 'NO FLASH', what gives? I did a search and found out this was known back in February. Regardles of this why push something only to criple it? Is Google becoming Apple or why didnt Adobe include Flash support for Chrome? I guess stuck with Dolphin or now try and use stock browers. What do you guys think of this? I am a bit pissed.

If something like that pisses you off, then you need to take a step back and take a deep breath.

As if you did not Chrome does not have flash. Flash is buggy and crashes and just crap. Any website that forces flash is pretty useless.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

i beleive that the lack of flash is directly related to adobe's decision to stop releasing new iterations of mobile flash. the updates that adobe pushes are merely fixes for the current version of mobile flash. there will be no new version releases afaik.

Chrome
- fast
- sync with desktop
- did I say fast?
win
TBH stock ICS browser is pretty fast IMO not hard to keep it around for the occasional use of flash. Anyhow flash is on the way out with no more official support in 4.1. Wouldn't want to be an adobe shareholder

Only reason why i am asking is because i browse several website that run flash. Not really wanting to have different browser for different sites, but it looks like i will need to.

Not having Flash support on mobile = not having full web experience
even thought Flash is in its way out, it still relevant and widely use in a lot of popular sites (hulu, dailymotion, local news web sites etc) yeah they all offer mobile apps or mobile sites, but that is not the full web experience is crippled experience. The main reason I have an android is to be able to watch every freaking site like on my desktop and watch videos from earthcam and firstrowsports, if 4.1 is not going to have flash support then I'll just move to apple.

hmmm... before i use chrome... i have a little bit hesitation because it dont have flash... but some of the site has start supporting html5 and most of the flash site i used to browse also have no problem being open in chrome...

Adobe Flash Player for Android will die in a month, there is no reason to support it on a new browser. Read this

Have you tried Flashify?

why use chrome?after ics update the stock browser is much2 better than in HC.no more lag n speedy + flash support
chrome is lagging

Opera Mobile is the best browser for me not only because it reads flash but it's the one and only to have dynamic text formating ability.. With other browser when you zoom in, text is cut on left and right side.

Adobe stopped flash development in Android devices , it's no longer supported

Not supported by Adobe. But there are still tons of sites which use flash on the Web !!

I can't recommend Firefox nightly enough. Fastest, most smoothest browsing experience yet.

Yes, Opera have been the best for a long time. I've gotten used to the start page together with Opera Link to sync favorites etc. They have been lazy on updates and bug fixes on mobile version though... too many old bugs.

Wrong forum. This is an app right. And there are many better browsers currently than firefox.
Just tested it, I love desktop Firefox, but this version is much slower, and is having much bigger problems with elements like Flash than default browser - it definitly has much to improve.

Its got a nice UI, but its pretty slow right now.
Stock browser as always been the fastest and the must compatible with websites (formatting).
However, xScope comes as a very close second with great speed and functionality. The new version has a nice ui, but the free version has a watermark (xScope 6). The old paid version is now free on the developer's website however.
(these comments are based on my experiences looking for the best browser)
Stay with stock or try xscope imo

Yeah, the sync is one thing that I live by right now as I move from OSX, Ubuntu, Windows, Android it is nice to have the same thing everywhere. Marry it up with LastPass and all is rocking perfect.
I have Dolphin HD as my primary still though. Firefox will get there. I suspect that as the tablets start hitting the market, and FF4 goes mainstream we will see a huge push in this dev as there will be a huge market for it.

I think we are losing sight of the fact that this is a BETA! nowhere near the final product, I have been testing this app since pre-alpha and it has made miles of improvements, if the fixes continue at the rate they have been since it was available for download, the final product will sail

Totally agree. This product is no release candidate. Look at it for potential, not current usability.
New beta is now smoother and faster than dolphin
Still no flash, and the dumb thing restarts everytime you go into it. You lose your last webpage.
I also noticed that you can't pass url's into it (like out of an sms)
Using it sparingly now over dolphin because it's smoother. No replacement yet.
I just downloaded and installed the latest. Slow and buggy.
Uninstalled.
Will definitely try at a future time.

Is the browser on Gingerbread truly awful?
Im gonna agree. I have problems navigating back on all gb roms, sometimes it just locks up and refuses to do anything, other times it takes ages to load pages.
I've given up on it and use maxathon browser.
Would be nice if we could use the browser from 2.2

I really hate the default browser on gingerbread, I hate it so much that I went back to froyo because of that.
The part I do not like is where I can't scroll a long page all the way from top to bottom with only one swipe. Samsung for some reason copy that crappy iPhone thing to this phone.
the reason I keep using the default browser not 3rd party one is because it continue to load when the screen is off. Yes, I only have EDGE connection.

The stock browser sucks. I recommend the dolphin browser. Stock browser has all sorts of problems. I wasn't able to download many files with the stock browser but they downloaded perfect with dolphin. Sooner you stop using the stock browser, the better off you will be.

The stock browser is so bad, that the dolphin browser is always one of the very first apps I download. I switched over 2 years ago and every time I have played with stock since then, I see that it still has issues.
The dolphin browser is so good, Mozilla has been trying to play catch-up for 2 years with their mobile Firefox browser but are still very far behind. I don't think android has a browser that can compare to dolphin, even though opera and x-scope are alright.

Just wait until you come across some website that won't load properly on the stock but will load properly on the other browsers. They're out their. One of my membership sites has trouble with stock but loads perfect on every other Android browser. Majority of my customers login issues are fixed just by switching their browser from stock.
On a side note, the stock browser has different issues on different phones, doesn't matter on the version of Android. Samsung phones' stock browser has different issues than Motorola does or HTC does.
With all the issues that have been fixed just by having users switch to an alternate browser, I can't recommend the stock browser. Not every Android 's stock browser has the issues, but many of them do. It's became easier for me to recommend the dolphin browser to my members up front, than to have to handle the customer service when they have issues that are due to the stock browser. Dolphin browser runs more universal than stock so its easier to figure out any problems a member may have if they are using dolphin. The ratio of problems that I get reported are about 10:1 with stock having 10 to every 1 dolphin has. That's just too big of difference for me to ever recommend the stock browser.
While many users might not notice the problems with the stock browser, they are there. I guess it depends on how much browsing you do if you will notice the problems. I'm a pretty heavy android user, lucky to get 8 hours of battery life at the most, so I notice some things that ordinary android users may not.

Kind of funny how something as simple as switching browsers can solve a problem. You not being able to download from the stock browser is just one of several issues that stock browser has.
I like that you are able to save your settings and bookmarks to your SD card with dolphin. Makes it convenient when flashing different roms and being able to have your browser set up easily. The themes they have are also nice.

Just wanted to let all Nexus 7 owners know...

It seems Dolphin has disabled Flash. I tried to turn it on some time back and it gave some message about HTML5 and flash causing your browser to crash. I was just reminded of this a few minutes ago and wanted to update anyone who is interested. Anyway, I had side loaded Adobe flash some time back and it is still working on Mozilla Firefox. Not sure what other browsers support it except for Frost lite. Hopefully I posted this under the right topic because all of my posts always get moved, lol. I am not rooted because I like the way everything is currently and have no real need to root. So, I guess it seems dumb for me to post this seeing most on here are probably rooted? God bless!
As you can see it no longer allows you to turn it on.

Best browser for nexus 7

Firefox vs chrome vs Dilphin ..
Addons vs speed vs gestures, which is better in ur experience ?
I periodically try the others, but keep going back to Maxthon. Not much in the way of add-ons, but then I don't need much. The built-in "reader" mode works for most sites and gives an easy-to-read, clutter-free experience.
Boat browser, by far.

Tried a lot of browsers but stock browser is still my favourite by far. Its Quick Controls feature is something I can't live without.
I was actually getting fed up last night with chrome and chrome beta crashing every 2 seconds so i jumped on play store and grabbed a random browser just for fun, i found UC Browser HD and so far i absolutely love it! It works great in portrait and landscape and it feels like it loads pages really quick. Also, i almost forget to mention two finger swipe for adding and closing tabs and a handy little toolbar on the bottom right that you can add shortcuts to, right under where your right thumb usually rests.

I'd like to mention that for me UC browser was horrible because it spammed my devices. I complained directly in their forum and asked for ad free version but they don't have a pay version. So for me UC was out of the game.

For all fans of Dolphin browser ->
read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319529
Right now I'm using stock CM browser.
The AOSP browser by a long mile, IMHO... Sure, the other browsers (Dolphin, Opera, Maxthon) might have more options (lots of bells and whistles), but AOSP has the edge in terms of speed and smoothness.
For anybody not rooted or unwilling to flash a custom ROM, then Lightning Browser is the next best thing to the AOSP browser... (IMHO, of course).

Tried almost all browsers in market and my favorite browser is AOSP browser love that speed and flash support. But sometime using Chrome because of browser sync feature is really useful.
How do I get firefox to work with flash ?
I tried installing the archived android flash from adobe website and nothing ?
I've recently switched to AOSP browser, and I'm happy with it.
I used chrome before, but got annoyed by those popup bubbles when clicking links, because it ended up showing a bubble EVERY time I'd click something.
And also I can't stand their text scaling, most signatures on XDA were MASSIVE while actual posts were tiny.
I tried other browsers as well, every one had something that bugged me (like swiping from one side would bring up a menu or such...)
I still use Firefox occasionally when chrome or AOSP won't download something or for very rare flash.
