Re-unlock bootloader HTC Incredible S - HTC Incredible S

I unlocked my inc s bootloader using htcdev method. I then installed 4ext recovery and then the a custom rom. I now want to revert back to stock rom and re-unlock the bootloader. Am thinking of doing this. Please correct me if I am wrong.
1. Restore stock rom from nandroid backup.
2. Use htcdev relock method to get back to unlocked state.
My question is will the custom recovery create any problems. If so how do I get back stock recovery?

Why do you need to re-lock? If you want to receive OTA update, you need to have stock recovery.

OK so going back to your original question, yes the custom recovery will cause you a problem with trying to receive the OTA update. It will let you download it, but will then tell you that you have a custom setup and won't let you install it.

i guess its more or less same case as mine
you can refer to my post before

btw, I finally run the RUU... :silly:

Help restoring back to stock

Well I need to go swap my phone :banghead: just realized my phones speakers are making crackling and popping noises.. problem is I've unlocked my bootloader and I'm currently on vipers rom.. so how would I go about getting back to stock?

Your best bet is to restore a nandroid of stock or flash the odex stock ROM. You won't be able to fully return to stock. Next, grab the stock recovery IMG and fast boot flash that. Relock your boot loader with the AIO toolkit. At that point you are mostly back to stock but not completely. You cannot completely return to stock until an RUU is released. Even then your boot loader will say relocked and not locked.

One small edit, RUUs reflash the bootloader so it would say "LOCKED".

Oh, thank you. My apologies. I haven't run HTC since OGEvo.

If you unlock your bootloader then relock it, it will say Relocked.......even after a ruu.

We need true root, not HTC's dev-unlock if I'm not mistaken to go back to compete stock. One of the reasons I'm waiting to root.

Would i also flash the stock boot img?
I would, myself, I would flash every stock image I could find. Just in case they go perusing through the phone. Technically they aren't supposed to take it, but normally they don't look that deep if everything seems normal. I would also hunt down the apks that are deleted during the boot loader unlock just in case

would you know how to get rid of that red warning message at the htc bootscreen?
That's caused by unlocking the boot loader I do believe. Won't go away until it is changed back to LOCKED

okay so i flashed the stock odex rom from viper but whenever i try to relock my bootloader it won't boot into the rom just straight back to the bootloader
Once you re lock you have to run the ruu. You have a custom boot.img and recovery that isn't signed thus it won't boot unsecured partitions with a locked bootloader

this might help but your phone will always have relocked in recovery or did you backup your stock rom if so just flash that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752
Thanks for the link
I am going to do the following
Wipe in recovery
Flash stock rom from that link
Flash recovery from that link
Relock bootloader with hasoon2000 toolkit
Is this correct?
I relocked bootloader and flashed a ruu, seemed to work

Before rooting... A few questions

Hello everybody,
I am considering rooting my htc one, but I have a few questions about returning to stock and rooting before I do.
Edit: When I say I want to return to stock, I want to be able to receive and install ota updates from optus.
1. If I make a nandroid backup straight after I root the phone can this be used to return to stock if I reflash stock recovery or do I have to flash ruu?
2. Is there anything else I need to go back to stock if the above method does not work? Where can I find the optus ruu?
3. When rooting with the all in one toolkit, do I select att htc one or international htc one? I have a HTC One 801s that is locked to Optus in australia.
Thanks in advance, if I do root my htc one, I'll probably only be flashing roms if that matters. My phone is an australian HTC One 801s that is locked to Optus.
Anyone?

1: yes you can
2: to go completely stock, flash stock recovery (to receive OTA) and re-lock boot loader.
3: International (AT&T is US based)

How do I relock my bootloader?

Often you can get faster answers by searching.
Drop to fastboot on the phone and issue this command from your PC:
fastboot oem lock
You don't need to relock to install OTAs.
Sorry about that, I guess I was being a bit lazy. Thanks for all the help you guys gave me.

I'll Ask Another Way

Unlocked bootloader, flashed TWRP 2.6 but supersu did not root. Fortunately I did a backup of my stock unrooted rom and was able to revert back to it. I just want to know if I un root and relock my bootloader can I still RUU a stock rom since I wasn't really rooted. If so will I be able to receive OTA updates in the future. Thanks

Stock OTA update

So I'm rooted, S-Off, and SuperCID, and I get the 4.3 system update notification. I know I need to have the stock recovery, but do I also need to relock the bootloader? And will I lose root access after updating? All help would be appreciated.

Just flash stock recovery and lock bootloader. Accept OTA, after update, flash CWM, re-root.
