[Q] [Help] CM7.2 Networking Problem - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I install CM7.2 yesterday and everything looks good. However, I find I cannot use mobile network in my GT-S5830.
I have tested the Internet by using Wi-Fi. It is working via Wi-Fi at home. Then I turn off Wi-Fi and only do data enable in Mobile networks, and nothing works. I don't know what's going on.
I have read a few article by useing app (HiAPN) to reset my APN but still not working?
Can anyone tell me how to get my mobile network back to work?
Thanks:crying:
PS: Location - Australia servers provider: vodaphone

Call your service provider and ask him for the apn settings. Simple.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium

Use the default android APN reset
Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > (Options Menu) > Reset to default
This might work, if it does not, call your service provider

Calling the service provider is the dumbest thing to do,the APN settings are integrated in Android(apns-conf.xml) ,so they cant really be screwed up, calling the service provider is the same as saying "I flashed a custom rom,so my warranty is no longer valid i'm going to pay for repairs from now on" directly to them.
You can try to re-flash CM see if that helps tho.

Not really that way, you can ask for the APN settings directly, that does not mean you have an custom ROM... Just ask for APN, username, password, MCC, MNC and authentication method, simple like that but there are several APN apps in play store... Brazilian carriers have for example the APN Brasil app that can set all those settings automatically

No 3G with Darky's Rom 10.1

I finished installing Darky's 10.1 Extreme Mod onto my Samsung Galaxy S the other day, and since then I have not had any connection to a 3G network.
I live in Australia and my phone carrier is Virgin Mobile running on the Optus Network. Before I flashed over from a Voodoo Lag Fixed stock 2.2, 3G worked fine.
I have checked in the wireless and networks setting to make sure the phone is set to "Use packet data" under mobile networks (Data roaming is turned off), but it makes no difference. I have also turned packet data off and on to make sure. Network Mode is set to GSM/WCDMA (auto mode). During setup for Darky's Rom, I left the Modem to defualt settings, JQ1 or something.
I'm not sure what I have broken but I'd love some help getting 3G back. It is very limiting to what a good smart phone can do.
Thanks
which model of I9000 u have? most likely is a modem problem i installed GB in my GT-I9000T and i had to go back to froyo cuz i didnt had 3G and low network reception...i recommend you to wait for more versions of GB come out if that is your case...

So far as I can tell from the About Phone settings page, it is just a plain GT-I9000 with a Baseband of I9000XXJVO. Though I can't remember what it said before the flash.

There is nothing in the APN Settings. Should there be names?
More Info
I looked up the APN settings for Virgin Mobile Australia and entered them into the phone but when I saved the new APN it didn't appear in the list. Just gone.
I inserted the SIM Card into an unmodified Samsung Galaxy TAB in which I have used this SIM card in the past. Still can't get 3G on the TAB, and there was no settings in the APN section. Could be a problem with the SIM card?
I also used a feature on virgin mobiles website to send the APN settings to the phone but they return an error when trying to send me the settings.
virginmobile com au/internet-on-your-mobile-phone/the-vibe/get-set-up
Oddly enough if I just enter in the name of the network and no other details, it does save the APN correctly and works fine again. Sweet
Thanks though all.

Just as I suspected. Those are the 3G settings for your network. If you used Titanium Backup those settings are under [SMS/MMS/APN] Dialer Storage, just restore and reboot your phone and thats it.

I didn't check the apn settings but is it
Compulsory? If it is. Then I might have to
Go to the office of the network provider.

If the provider's APN details are not in the Samsung ROM then you will need to set them up manually.
Check out the provider's website, the APN details are probably there.
Without the correct APN details in your phone, you don't get mobile data.

I have t-mobile as a service provider and when I place my sim card into the phone it displays "Emergency Calls Only". When Im outside sometimes it switches over to were I can get a signal but the signal is very poor. I called T-Mobile and they thought it was the sim card. I replaced the sim card and Im still having the same problem. Is there any way of fixing the problems

Some of the carriers a new sim will take minimum 48 hrs to activate. Have you tried a working sim card ? So whatever replacements on Sim card please give 48 hrs before checking. if you really wish to check settings > more settings> Mobile networks> Network operators ---- see if you are able to find your service provider, takes some time to pop out. Select and then check. Also on this same page ensure "Select Automatically" is enabled.
Another thing you need to check is settings > more settings> Mobile networks> select Mobile data if you want data access.... Hope this helps.
By the way Note is a beautiful device, never gets issues unless some external problems....so dont worry.

[Q] AT&T, unlocked, no mobile data in Europe?

Hi. I live in Europe, I was jealous of you guys, so I ordered Moto on ebay. To save some cash, I ordered locked AT&T version. Everything went great, I was able to unlock the phone, it accepted the sim card, I can make calls and send SMS. So far, so good.
Then I turned on mobile data. And...nothing happend.
To clarify: Using the same sim card, I was able to use mobile data on good old Samsung i9000, so the data is activated. It's there and should work.
So I started looking around in settings, tried turning on the data roaming and looked into the "about phone" section.
Here's what it says:
Mobile Network Type: EDGE
Service state: In service
Roaming: Not roaming
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
Is there something I need to do to "force" the connection, or should I rather discuss this with my mobile network provider?
Thanks for any help
P.S. I tried the usual stuff like reboot and eject sim and put it back, I even switched from ART back to Dalvik, The phone is running latest avaliable KitKat and is not rooted.

You didn't mention whether you checked the APN settings. My guess is that because you purchased a locked AT&T device and then unlocked it, you don't have an APN setup for your European provider. APN will be in Settings -> More -> Mobile Networks ->Access Point Names. If you go in there and either there is nothing listed or it's not the APN your mobile provider recommends, you will need to manually create the proper APN. I'm sure a quick Google Search for your provider's APN settings on Android will get you the answer.

I knew I was missing something important "Copied" the APN settings from old phone and it worked like charm. Thanks a lot
Interesting thing is that on that old Samsung, I tried new ROM every month or so and never had this problem. The phone just "knew" what to do. Guess these are the perks of unlocked devices, right?

Glad that worked. Correct, Custom ROM's often self-provision based on a database of Carrier/APN's.

Mi 9 mobile data loss on 4g daily

Hi,
I am using a Mi 9 for the few days now and at least twice a day my mobile data connection is down, in order to restore the mobile data I have to disable mobile data and re-enable or switch on and off flight mode.
I have the latest global MIUI 10.2.13, there are no data restrictions on the phone, data roaming is on, mobile data when device is locked is set to never, same sim card was used on Huawei phone whitout any similar issues. Beside the signal bar there is showed full 4g reception, but mobile data is not working.
Does anyone have a solution for this issue?

Have been having data loss on 4G since.... And I own the device from April....! I don't know if it is related to the device of just the network provider...
But... Enabling Airplane Mode and disable it after does the trick....

This worked out for me and the issue dissapered, I am not loosing mobile data anymore.
Go to the APN settings (Settings -> SIM card Settings). Choose your sim card with the mobile data, enter APN settings, scrool donw to the very bottom and in a field called MVNO type select IMSI.

Enabled it....will report back if no network loss anymore...
Just enabled it now. I'll report too in a few days testing..
Can you explain us what's is that configuration?
The Mobile Virtual Network Operator will use data from the sim-card, International Mobile Subscriber Identity, to configure THE phone.

Mobile virtual network operator type / value
Together, the Mobile virtual network operator type and Mobile virtual network operator value fields allow an APN configuration to be restricted for use only when using particular MVNOs or subscriber accounts.
Without this setting, custom defined APN configurations are selected according to MCC and MNC only, which specifies the mobile network the phone subscribes to but not the particular retailer or reseller, or account on a network.
This setting is useful if you want to use different sets of custom defined APN configurations with different MVNOs (resellers) which access the same network, or even with separate subscriber accounts within the same network or reseller. That is, if you switch your SIM card to one of a different subscriber or reseller but the same mobile network, you can set your device to use a different APN configuration.
To use this feature, you need to set both a type and a value. The matching algorithm depends on the type selected.
Types
None
This is the usual setting, and means that this APN configuration is not restricted to use on a particular MVNO or subscriber account.
When the type is set to None, the value field is not used.
SPN
Indicates that the value to match is a SPN value (Service Provider Name).
IMSI
Indicates that the value to match is an IMSI value (International Mobile Subscriber Identity). This value is unique to every subscriber account on any network world-wide.
GID
Indicates that the value to match is a Group Identifier Level 1.

I would take a note of al the settings then remove/reset them and create manualy new one with the exact settings and it myght let you change the MVNO type, or google them for your network provider.

Yes I've tried this now and I was able to set the MVNO type by creating a new APN and copying all the other details over.
And it didn't work. I've been on the London Underground this morning and obviously lost signal, and every time I come above ground, no data passing until I toggle it off and back on again.
So that's not a fix for me.
Mi 9 shortly going for sale....
The same for me.. I was on São Paulo's subway this mourning and when I went out there was no data until turn on/off airplane mode.. disgusting...

Could you perhaps provide a list of your APN settings and the name of your operator?
I have the same problem .. I have received a new phone from my seller. My first mi 9 was on version V10.2.26.0. PFAEUXM. My new phone runs on V10.2.15.0. Without 4G problems. So its not possible to update my phone.
Next week I will unlock the bootloader and flash the pixel rom. Would the problem be solved then?
Hello, I'm with software global 10.2.30.0 PFAEUXM and still happening data capability lost. Does anyone still with this problem? Thinking on return to samsung, it's very bad bug...
I complained to Amazon where I bought it, they gave me a full refund. Apparently not the first Mi 9 to be returned with this fault.
Now I wait four days until my Pixel 4 XL arrives. Expensive, bit hopefully supported!

SM-G781N won't connect to 4G/5G, only works in 3G

hi
i got the phone from korea, the problem is when connecting to 4G the phone would lose internet and calls then lose the network, i get a message saying "failed to register to network (15)" but if i forced the phone to connect to 3G then it works fine. here's what i tried to fix the problem :
turning off the mobile network then turning it on
resetting the network settings
removing NR Whitelist
and none of them fixed the issue. there's a korean menu in the service mode, but i didn't miss with it. i have attached screen shots of the software information and the korean menu in the service menu.
Who provides your service? Have you tried going into network settings and APN and see what that says
If it is a Korean phone and you aren't in Korea and it is locked into the network then you won't be able to get service somewhere else I don't think
