guys after flashing and reflashing various roms i have a problem. The roms work fine, however when trying to use the usb mass storage in order to put files on my phone , its seems the regular drive has been replaced by a much smaller capacity drive of 236kb with FAT32 written below it.
Any help would be much appriciated
Hey mate, flash this in recovery. If that doesn't work, flash a fresh copy of your rom and then flash this.
Good Luck!

Is there any way I can get a new ROM on my device if it can't boot? The USB port hasn't worked (for data) for months - I posted about it here, no-one replied. The DIAMIMG.nbh file on Internal Storage is the ROM that won't boot, it just sits at the boot logo doing nothing.
I have other ROM files on my Internal Storage, just no idea if I can get access to them and flash it.
I take it no-one has any idea then?
Gday, Well I have spent 3 days searching, researching, trying, flashing, rooting, rummaging and swearing... and am back to exactly where I started, so going to go out on a limb, and ask for help:
I have my sisters old Galaxy S I9000, when booted up it force closes pretty much everything, all her apps she has on it, all google related apps including Market.
Factory reset via phone (privacy menu) option, recovery menu option, and dialler code option do nothing. By that I mean they say they are working, the phone reboots, yellow text suggests everything is being formatted and wiped, and then it reboots to exactly the same state.
I have flashed various 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 firmwares, same result.
I have trie to flash custom ROMs, but can't because of the other problem; the USB storage appears to always stay unchanged no matter what I try to remove from it, or add to it (eg. zip files for installing). On my PC I can see the rive, and I can drag/drop zip files to it, I can even delete all the folders if I want, but when I disconnect the cable, the USB Storage in the phone is EXACTLY the same as it was before I connected it to the PC....
SOOOOOOOOOOO Frustrated....
I've searched high and low, forums galore, many seem to have had one problem or another, but nobody seems to have had exactly the same problems in their entirity. Even the forum I read about fixing the 'protected' USB storage suggested flashing a patch, which is a zip file, which is impossible for me to do as I can't write to the USB storage...
Your insight/wisdom/assistance o nthis matter would be GREATLY appreciated! Cheers in anticipation..
By the way, I am definitely talking about USB storage, the internal type, not my external sd card, I have had that removed for the last day or so to avoid any confusion. I currently have XXJPY 2.2.1 on the phone if that helps bt can change it to anything else that s Odin flashable if need be.
You say you had a patch thats a zip... If you have the external sd card put it on that, and then go recovery and install the zip, or however else you need to. Does it need to be on the internal sd card?
Or do you mean you can apply the zip but because you cant write to it it makes no difference?
Any chance your still on stock firmware then?
I can put zip on external SD card but when i choose install zip from card within recovery menu it shows USB storage folder, not external SD contents. Can't put zip file on USB storage as it wont let me write to it (even though it shows on my PC as having been added ok, at least up until i remount)
If xxjpy is stock firmware then i might be, but have tried several others and had same result. If u can recommend a different firmware ill happily dload and flash.
Im running darkcore, and the rom you see below, im not sure which CWM this is but i just checked with update from zip/sdcard and yes it showed me the internal sd card but just look for external sd, itll appera like everything else and i could go into it. So if it doesn't work in your current recovery menu, try install another one.
I've tried a few different recovery versions now, none show external SD card contents. But if i understand ur post correctly, ur suggesting that the external SD card shows within the USB storage list, like one of the folders on the USB storage? If that is the case, the only one it could be is /SD? But there is nothing in that, whereas there are several folders and zip files on my external SD card...
Hello all,
I've got a GT-I9000, which have a ugly situation:
- on starting some apps generally break down with errormessage (Maps, Mail.web.de and others
- any change in the system are not persistent (passwords are lost, new Apps can not be installed, Apps can not deleted)
- Changes on internal SDCard are also completely not persistent (nor Deletion or copy files on the storrage, nor formatation)
- complete wipe are also not persistent, but after a new start the smartphone makes a initialisation-Setup (asking for settings Google account and so on), but other settings are still there (background pic and so on)
- Wipe did not work over settings and also not over the CWM recovery
- Flashing did not work for the system. Tryed one file versions, and three file versions with and without 512.pit and repart. But odin (1.85) told everything was fine while flashing
- Kernel and recovery-flashing works without a problem.
- used actual drivers, Kies not running in system (shutdown via taskmanager)
- Downloadmode, recovery works. Access via usb is possible in running system and over CWM, but changes are nor persistent (so it is not possible to flash via CWM, because I can not store data on the SDCard, and I ve actual no external SDCard..
So after searching a lot of forum enrys I can see, that there are some other guys which have the same prolem, but I found no working solution. I think that there are the following possebillities:
- the NAND is brocken in some areas
- the partitions/partition-tables are not working right
- maybe the MFT is brocken...
- motherboard defect
- negative energy from space or aliens lives in the phone
So I'm interested in you thougths, and your ideas. I ve no problem to use Linuxs or windows tools, and it would be absolutley great if someone can told me that there is a posebility to recover the phone (other way of check the ram, partitioning in other ways and so on)
What do you think,
Best regards
Solar Plexus
PS: sorryfor my mistakes and my english, but the used keyboard is poor, and my english is not good

IF its a hardware problem, you need to use a box or JTAG solution to identify the problem, so just try exhausting Software solution, till you are sure its a hardware issue.
visit My Android Collections downgrade your phone to the earliest version, Eclair ( but your combo keys will not work) so you need to flash the fix or try froyo or try the i9000 rescue kit with heimdall or recovery tools to flash
or.
get an 8 gig EXT SD card, partition it as a 2 gig and 6 gig in rfs /vfat format, try flashing the ROM with speedmod kernel for i9000
Thanks at first for your Informations!

So I'll retry at first the Software-way. But nevertheless I'm thinking about to buy also a JIG, because it seems that I flash more and more, and then it will be a good idea to have a emergency-tool to reach the download-screen. I've read sometimes that this stickers clean also the counter and triangle stuff, but I'm ot sure if this will also work for my new S3? (sorry, is a little of topic)...

OK, I'll try the downgrade and also the rescue-kit at weekend. We will see...

Here I'm a little puzzled. If I understand it right I have to format the SD-Card with two partitions, and then I flash the Rom on it?? I've never heard that this is possible. If yes, Odin recognize this automatically? Or does this only mean, that the I9000 have then a external Storrage which may improve the flash-process for CWM?
Thanks, and Best regards,

Nope, what I am looking at is, its possible your problems could be due to internal SD card corruption ( hence trying to isolate it using your External SD card to perform as its internal SD card) , as such by using the external SD card, with speedmod kernel, which is capable of reading that as your Internal SD card. In other words its like switching the cards and flashing the ROM. Read this
BTW this will work when Internal SD card totally corrupted and I am not sure it will work in partial corruption ( as you indicate) but worth giving it a try.
also look at this
yup, usb jig will work for S3 too, and triangle away works only for s2 and up, and S does not have a flash counter.
OK, sounds as we have maybe a way... SDCard switch is something what comes not in my mind, so now I have a little hope
So as I can do that only later in the weekend, I'll post my tests later.
Thanks

Hello,
the external SD-Card could do the trick. I've startet in that way, format the ext-sd-card in two partitions (one reiserfs and one Vfat) and flash the modified firmware which was found in your link. Now I can start the Smartphone. but I have no acces to the SD-Card, but I can see, that the problem seems to be the internal SD-Card.
So now I'll try to use a custom-rom (maybe slim 4.1.2) and try to modify it in that way which was described in your link. If I will succseed, I'll maybe upload the package, or try to store it in the slimrom-area or whatever
By the way:

I did not find a option in the speedmodkernel for switching the internal and external SD-Card (K17). But I've try to find that while I have no ext-SD-Card in the phone, so maybe the option was hidden...
Thanks up to now, and best regards,
SP
There is no switch in speedmod kernels but it is designed to read both rfs and ext2/4 formats and partitions as such it will automatically read the available partitions as its internal SD card. And its best to use ICS or Jbean custom ROMs, when Internal SD card is unavailable due to any reason.
good luck on trials and do upload whatever here or on a new thread that may help others solve such issues.
Hello fellow Taskers,
i hope my thread title describes what i want, but if not here's what i'd like to happen.
Whenever i connect a USB Stick via OTG to my N9005 i want it to sync (copy and only add new(er)) files from my Internal SD Card to the USB storage i connected.
I have no idea how to make this work so i completly rely on the skill of you guys here =)
i hope you can help me make this work, or maybe offer a different approach if that's not possible.
thanks in advance! =)
Hi, i've just bought this phone and i'm waiting for it to be shipped to me. It is my first phone that comes without a MicroSD which i heavely used for modding to store APK, Rom zips, etc. This way i was able to totally clean the device formatting cache, dalvik, vendor, data, etc. each time i had to swap from a ROM to another, and to clean the device from time to time to keep it as smooth as possible. This will not be possible with my new Mi 9T Pro, but i was thinking if i could use a USB-C Flash Drive to store what i used to store on my MicroSD, will TWRP Recovery be able to read the Flash Drive and use it to Flash the ROMs on the device?
Twrp support install from usb otg, and u can even transfer file from pc to phone in twrp mode nowadays, using mtp mode.
No worry even u need to format internal memory, in twrp just connect to pc and transfer the file again.
You can just connect to pc as mentioned earlier. It's not a problem
Or you can use a USB OTG adapter with a USB drive or USB sdcard reader
It's definitely not a problem more like an annoyance, got used to mod freely without having to worry about files saved on my device because of an SDCard on my poco but now you have to think more deeply when flashing new roms because of the lack of external storage
