[Q] clockwork mod - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone can tell me how to use heimdal to flash clockworkmod to Galaxy Tab P1000?

You need to flash a kernel that has cwm, for example Overcome Kernel 4.0
Unlikely in some devices where recovery is on its own.

[Solved] How can I restock using Overcome on Linux?
Btw, you better wipe cache when you change kernel.

Thanks,
I managed to flash CWM recovery, but the previously installed Overcome ROM wont boot anymore. I guess I should reflash now.

[Q]

Dear all.. please help! I was originally from the official CM10 nightly, but I found it was too slow. So I decided to revert back to Gingerbread AOSP (Cyanogenmod Future 7.2)
1) I installed as per normal, from CWM recovery, flash ROM, flash GAPPS, wipe data, cache and dalvik. I managed to enter until the ROM setup screen, where I was supposed to click on the Android logo, but everytime I did that, it always showed error with setup wizard..
2) So I went back to ROM installation instructions and saw that I was supposed to format system in CWM recovery. I did exactly that, but afterwards it was downhill.. i could not even go past the bootlogo (the galaxy tab 7 logo)...
3) afterwards I tried using format sdcard from CWM recovery, no change.
4) I tried to flash stock p1000 rom by ODIN, with repartition UNCHECKED --- it looked hopeful, i went past the SGT7 boot logo into the samsung logo.. but it was stuck there..
5) I tried flasing stock p1000 rom by ODIN, this time with repartition CHECKED --- no change...
I would really appreciate it someone could help me how I could recover my phone. When I flashed the stock samsung ROM, i lost CWM recovery also.. now I am on default recovery from Samsung.
Please help! Thanks a lot...
Use overcome method. See my signature.
Download the PDF guide and follow to the letter from page 7 to use Odin to restock.
The flash overcome kernel to get CWM, don't need to flash Overcome ROM itself.
Flash your CM7 instead.

Priyana, thanks a lot! I will try your method. Do you think should I try the CM7 beta or cyanogen to 7.2 the future? I wonder why using either one, I could not get pass the Android setup screen.
Thx!

[PARTIALLY-SOLVED] Galaxy Ace S5830 - Can't boot into cwm recovery

Dear Community, greetings.
I have a problem as wrote in the title: I can't boot into cwm recovery. I am gonna try to summarize the main points that lead me here.
Assumption
I used to install custom ROMS flawlessy, following always the instruction etc...
Last rom I've installed was CM7.2 Apocalypse, Project Silk and Link2SD
I needed to restore stock rom
I searched with Google and came across the following solutions
I searched on XDA and came across the following solutions
What I have done...
I flashed using odin 4.38 -> GB 2.3.6 2012 October 2.3.6 S5830XWKTS S5830ITVKT2 downloaded from sammobile.com
I rooted the phone with upd_1.zip (that is attached to this thread)
I tried to install recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-galaxyace-fix.zip
...and trying to boot into recovery pushing POWER BT + HOME BT the phone stucks on the screen with "Galaxy GT-S5830" and the top-left corner was green
What I have done #2
I tried to use S5830XXKA6 but I dind't neither managed to boot properly (wiped data/factory and cache)
Tried to flash CWM directly with Odin using "One Package"
Could you kindly help me out?:fingers-crossed: I am also willing to give you further information as you ask.
Thanks everyone for your time.:good:
F.
---- PARTIAL FIX by myself ----
1. Format the sdcard in linux with GParted (you need to install android-tools-adb, android-tools-fastboot)
2. Flashed stock firmware S5830XWKTS S5830ITVKT2 with ODIN Multidownloader 4.38 (downloadeble from www.sammobile.com under ITALY)
3. Rooted with upd_1.apk and updated with Superuser 3.0 (attached)
4. Installed CWM 6.0.1.4
5. Restore an old backup of mine.
6. Rejoice

First of all, thank you very much for the reply. Then, the answer is yes and no. I flashed several firmwares. Some of them did work, others don't. Right now I managed to use the one I've mentioned before and
S5830XWKT7_S5830ITVKT1_ITV
S5830XWKP6_XWKPN
but trying S5830_XXKA6 it goes in bootloop also wiping data and cache.
Further information:
I noticed a problem with CSC. While booting in standard recovery an error message appeared saying something like "can't open /system/csc/XEU/system", so I've created the whole directory path and put the files that were in /system/csc inside. This issue is fixed. I am going to investigate and let you know if with other firmware I listed above I get the same behaviour.

He flashed with Odin, so his recovery must have been flashed back to stock. :/
@OP, flash a "Full-package" file with Odin and see what happens
Re: [TS] Galaxy Ace S5830 - Can't boot into cwm recovery
You could alwayd manually move recovery.img with dd commands to your partitions
But atleast you should have recovery 3e if you reflashe odin rom

Obtained this error

Try flashing this:
CWM 5.0.2.6. FIX
When your system reboot, wait until Android boot again, install TERMINAL EMULATOR's app and type this commands:
Code:
su
reboot recovery
After you've done it, your device'll reboot into recovery mode automatically

[Q] Custom ROM on STOCK Galaxy Mini?

Galaxy Mini running Android version 2.3.5 (Gingerbread)
How do I install this CM10.1 ROM on my phone?
I've rooted + flashed ROMs before on my i9100 but it appears the Galaxy Mini process is much different. Help is greatly appreciated!
Does the Mini have to be rooted prior to installing CWM or custom ROMs?
As far as I know I simply plug my phone into computer, download a CWM file and flash it to phone with Odin. Then I drag the CM10.1 zip file onto the phone and using the CWM recovery menu, flash the ROM?
Thank you in advance

I don't understand what you are meaning here. I asked in my original post the instructions for flashing CM10 onto my Galaxy Mini and whether or not the steps I outlined above are correct or if I am missing something.
Ya thats right, but u before must do hard reset, cache and dalvik wipe but i think u already knew that
Sent from my GT-S5570 using xda app-developers app
First root it , then flash cwm tar file in odin as one package , and thej you can put custom rom on sd and go to cwm recovery wipe cache/data and cache partitation. Then just install the rom zip and there you go.
If you dislike the rom just flash another and if your tired off custom roms flash back stock rom

Stuck on boot screen after Restoring with CWM

Hi,
I flashed CM 10.1 codename BAZINGA and I then tried to restore it back to stock, but now I am stuck on this boot screen:

What should I do?

I eventually entered recovery mode, and flashed the CM 10.1 again, and it worked, but if you say I must try a kernel with CWM, how exactly do I do that?
Can you link me a good kernel (stable.. better battery life<<sorry I'm noob :laugh, and also link me to a guide on how to install/flash a kernel? because I've never tried a different kernel, so I have no idea how to install a new kernel, Thanks!
**I have another question cyclops : If you flash a kernel, and then you change rom, will this rom remove the previously flashed kernel? or the kernel I manually installed will remain?

ALWAYS what you want to restore a backup do the 3 wipes (data, cache and dalvik-cache) fist and then restore your rom
