I got it when i rooted my tab.
I think root access is required for cwm btw...
now i rooted by super1rootclick.
and now i can access recovery mode.
that's mean cwn is not require anymore ?
You can always access recovery mode.
The stock 3e recovery.
But you want custom recovery, ClockWorkMod recovery being the only one for tab.
Flashing cf-root kernel will give you cwm.
But staying on froyo is not so good, with some having protected boot loader.
Why not just find overcome rom in dev thread and flash it.
You won't regret.

ok i'll find it
now i want to test an AOKP ICS rom.
and i not sure if i flash it without cwm on my tab.
I'm a noob here. sorry everyone.

Thanks a lot for that link priyana! Now got a nice guide with pictures
The overcome guide works like a charm, used it on my GT-P1000. It's now running the AOKP ICS 4.0.4 build #36 nice and smooth.
After completing the full overcome guide you can simply flash the AOKP build with cwm.
Download this file:
http://www.4shared.com/zip/g-uW6vGt/CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v33-CW.html
Also download odin v1.7 (google it). Boot your tab in download mode (turn off tab, then hold power button and volume down button simultaneously)
open odin and select the above mentioned file as pda
connect your tab to your pc
start flashing
you will get a rooted tab with cwm installed
please thank me if you found this useful

I tried this as I too was having difficulty booting into Clockwork and now my tab won't boot on at all. Someone please help. I don't know where to go ?
Try this as per my post in the thread.
Post back if you have problem.
Btw, you can still get to download mode?

Basically you need to try flashing gb stock safe package from overcome using Odin.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Hi Priyana,
Do you recommend I do the following but with gb stock safe ?
1) download overcome 4.0 kernel tar file and keep it in your PC
2) download aokp build 38 and gapps-ics from the link in aokp post. Put both on external SD card.
3) read the guide and jump to the part that guides you to flash overcome kernel.
Make sure Odin can see your tab and everything looks exactly like in the picture.
4) flash the overcome kernel and the tab will reboot. There will be a female robotic voice. Stimpz0r recommend no need to wait for finish. Just force power off the tab.
5) power up to recovery by pressing volume up and power button.
I find it a bit tricky sometimes, maybe the way I hold the button. But you will get there.
6) from cwm recovery, choose to install update from external SD card and browse to aokp zip file and install. Some message about checking bml/mtd and you see the tab reboot.
7) you may get a boot loop, it may not boot into recovery, or it may go direct back to recovery. If it does that it is normal.
First time coming from bml to mtd will do that.
Just flash aokp one more time.
You will notice the cwm is not the overcome one anymore. It looks similar but it is not. You will have to browse to internal SD card instead, because this recovery somehow calls your external SD as internal SD.
8) so flash aokp again, and when completed, flash gapps-ics
9) when completed just reboot and sit back and wait till it is done!
I see you came across my old post.
Yes, that should work. But download stimpz0r AOKP build 40.
The post was back when 38 was latest.
If the AOKP failed to flash, you need to go for entire gb stock safe though.
Go ahead try as per this AOKP install post and let me know if you have difficulty.

Great , I am out of the endless boots I was having and now have Gingerbread installed. Bit behind the times though my tab is functional and bit more snappy then the old Froyo. If you have any ideas on how to install Jellybean or any other roms you recommend for GT-P1000 I would really interested. Thanks again champion you have saved me alot of heartache.
Go for AOKP!
you have the instruction laid out here, nothing stopping you.
And if you are bored you can try cm10.
From now on the steps are the same.
Boot to cwm, wipe data, cache, and dalvik, and flash the rom and the gapps.
Please note gapps for ics is different from gapps for jb.
Btw, this is the many times I see cf-root way fails while overcome method works.
Thanks to team overcome we have such a reliable method to get cwm recovery.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
I have the rom and gapps from this link http://www.androidauthority.com/gal...-4-1-1-jelly-bean-cyanogenmod-10-cm10-106995/ but I don't think I have clockwork installed as my recovery looks stock. I'm not too sure on where to go from here asthus where I kind of got stuck last time.
You have the 9 steps I wrote.
From step 3 to 5,
At the end of step 5 you will have cwm.
Which one you didn't get?
The guide? I was referring to Overcome guide.
Jump here for the kernel and the guide:
Here is the kernel (tar format for Odin, zip isn't the one you want I guess)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27801159&postcount=8
and guide here
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7k...EyNS00Yzg5LWE0MTktYmYyMjA1MThmYzQz/edit?pli=1
So, open the guide:
3) read the guide and jump to the part that guides you to flash overcome kernel.
Make sure Odin can see your tab and everything looks exactly like in the picture.
4) flash the overcome kernel and the tab will reboot. There will be a female robotic voice. Stimpz0r recommend no need to wait for finish. Just force power off the tab.
5) power up to recovery by pressing volume up and power button.

Thanks I will give that at a go now but reading through the guide I forgot to flash the modem file. Am I able to do this seperately?
Don't worry.
The modem was for non mtd.
Once you flash AOKP and the mtd conversion takes place, all partitions are wiped out.
On second flash the rom is installed and jpz modem is included.
It will be just a file in /radio/modem.bin in MTD rom.
If you need to replace the modem in the future, just unpack a modem package and use root explorer to copy and paste the new modem file to overwrite the one there and reboot.

Fantastic From Froyo To JB !
So let me get this right, If I want to change Rom in the future.
All I need to do now is boot up CWM Recovery then Flash Rom And Gapps and if anything goes wrong Flash GB Stock Safe through Odin in Download mode.
Can I ask which Rom you are using/prefer ?
This JellyBean Rom looks good but is not as responsive as GB also I'm having difficulty rotating in home screen.
Thankyou for all the information you have provided me.
You did see me mention AOKP many times, right? that is my favourite.
AOKP and CM9 are ICS.
CM10 and Paranoidandroid 1.99 are JB.
Btw,
don't forget to flash gapps.
Yes, most rom for ICS/JB here are MTD rom, so just do the wipes and flash from cwm.

Hi guys. I have a I9000 and i want to install the CyanogenMod 9 on it. I`ve Already rooted my phone using the Unlock Root. However, I can`t go to the Clockworkmod recovery to install customs rooms. I tried to flash the CWM recovery using the Rom Manager app, but when i was installing, an error happened. I figured out that the problem is my kernel that is not compatible with the CWM. I know that i have to flash a compatible kernel using Odin, but which kernel should i flash??? My device is a Galaxy S I9000, 2.3.5 android, and 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVT-CL617736 kernel. Already rooted. Please someone could help me??
Thank you so much
Don't use rom manager, use Odin to flash, CWM is bundled with rooted kernel (CF-root, Semaphore)

Hi, I have the same error problem, cf root was not bundled with my own root package. I flashed to gingerbread 2.3.6 xwjw1, I also tried rom manager to flash recovery and it was successful, but when I rebooted to recovery to backup my current rom it bootes to the android (3e) recovery. As I've discovered it seems rom manager is not compatible with the xwjw1 series. How do I get the correct cf root for xwjw1? Believe me I have tried google and am scared of the things I see since "jw1" is not behind any of the cf root packages I see. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

On xwjw1 you can Odin flash as PDA Semaphore 250 tar kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14481782
Untick re-partition before flashing.
After reboot you may need to install Superuser from Play Store.
That will give you root, CWM, gingerbread ready for CM9.1

Use Odin to flash (put .tar in PDA and uncheck repartition). You can flash Semaphore JVT 1.8.0 or CF-Root v4.3

Thanks Sunny men, but OT's advice worked, I can now boot to semaphore recovery and wipe etc.
Question though, if I now flash cm9.1 rom, will I be able to boot to recovery without the holding any button combinations. What I mean is can I boot to recovery from the shutdown menu or do I need an app for it?
Also is cm9.1 the best rom for my phone? any thots guys? Thanks again.

Yes, in CM 9.1 you can boot directly to recovery from the shutdown menu. CM 9.1 is very stable and fast, so try it. And when you flash CM9 for the first time, your galaxy will go into a bootloop. Then remove the battery, put it in, go to recovery with 3-button configuration and flash it again.

Hi guys, thanks for all the help. I have flashed CM 9.1 successfully.
Everything works OK for now.
Also flashed gapps, CM 9.1 seems to be a great ROM.
I have a question though, the gapps I flashed seems to have only a few Google apps, play store and Google talk. The file size was 49mb so is that all that's in gapps or is there a hidden mode or something.
Also, sin007 I can't find any reboot to recovery from the shutdown menu, though I flashed a stable version of CM 9.1 and not a "nighty version". Could that be the reason? But no biggie, CM 9.1 comes with rom manager.
Finally I wouldn't mind any tips you guys have on making the most out of the ROM.
Thanks and all the best.
Shutdown menu - Reboot - Recovery
OK?
There is an APP on google play, sgs kernel flash, it is easier and faster than Odin. And works perfectly. I've flash the speedmod kernel and finally upgrade to cyanogenmod 9.1.
Anyone knows if this APP works on galaxy s2 (i9100)?

Hey guys, I am not exactly new to the "ROOT" world. Have been using CM 10.1.2 on my SGS. I tried updating it to 4.4 using an unofficial CM 11 build which it did but the ROM seemed quite immature for my tastes. Then I tried the Mackay 4.0.6. But since I have updated it, the phone starts and keep frozen on the startup screen which says Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000. I can't enter the CWM at all. Three button method works for entering into the Download Mode. Please help, what should I do? Also is it possible, that is Odin has to be used, I flash straight to CM 10.1.2 or any other stable ROM?

When you only have download mode, you have two options
1) flash kernel alone ( meant for version of ROM, ) to get it booting you can try his SD card switch version kernel
2) flash back to stock ROM (gingerbread) than climb back to ICS>JB>KK (follow this)

In this thread is a very good tutorial. My favored.
I've tried to restock my tab many times with teamovercome guide, and then I got CWM 3 but it can't flash any of my roms. It always say assert failed, get.prob .... (status 7)
I understand that the cause is from the old version of CWM, so I tried to flash AOKB Kanged Gummy kernel which has CWM recovery 6. in it. So the CWM 6 can flash my desired roms easily. But the problem keep happen again, after I flash that kernel and install my rom, the tab keep rebooting to the CWM recovery instead of OS.
So i tri to find other kernel which has CWM > 6 but none of that exist, I I'm really frustrated right now :crying: please someone help me. Thanks a lot

If you follow overcome method to the letter (from page 7 of the guide, skip the rooting and bootloader patach and backup, etc), I guarantee you a CWM that is good to install CM9, CM10, Sapir, AOKP, Paranoid, etc, etc, etc..
Been doing it for over 100 times if you count those done by those who asked and I replied to.
One thing to remember, when you flash CM10, it first upgrades your kernel/CWM to CWM 6.0
so it seems to reboot to CWM but it isn't
It is a normal bootloop.
You need to flash the ROM zip at least 3 times to get the process going progressively.
First round, CWM upgrade, second round, BML to MTD conversion, and 3rd round ROM install.
You just have to read the message on the screen when it scrolls, don't just assume you get a bootloops and meaning it doesn't do a thing.

No no, i read but my problem is when i follow your signature's link to the guide until I install the Overcome 7 4.1.0, but the recovery said that "can't open, ... the rom bad" so I try to flash custom rom like CM9, and it say assert failed (status 7) all the time I try to flash. So i flash a kernel called "Kanged Gummy p1" which has CwM 6, this is when the bootloop problem occur. So I think my solution now is the new kernel which has Cwm 6

What do i have to do know to install cm11 on my p1000?
Thank you.

Just grab cm11, and the correct gapps. Put them in your external sdcard
Boot to recovery and flash cm11, to be safe flash it 3 times.
Then flash gapps.
Then boot to the new ROM.

I tried this way, not 3 times but the installation aborted. And after this, it did not start the overcome recovery but the old recovery cwm that was installed on the tablet befor i installed overcome.
You are doing it wrong.
Firstly there is no older cwm.
The gb stock safe v5 is having stock recovery.
Once you flash overcome kernel you get cwm5.
You use it to flash cm11 3 times. Without wiping or rebooting in between.
Then flash gapps. Only then you reboot.
