Not all user know how to root. Will be great if you could put up the instruction.
We already have the root guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21584547
If it work. Maybe you can update Jade to input on his OP IMO
PS: I'm rooted with Edan's DeoDex slim rom

does not work

Maybe put the "su" inside /system/xbin is better.
also if using the zip provided in OP should manually installed superSU from the Play store.
also busybox is not included yet, should manually inject to xbin.
The most stranger is why mount /system on mmcblk0p4, should on mmcblk0p9....in HC...
edited:ha...CWM.zip from NOTE, it a way I used to install zip for long..

from recovery, install CWM.zip
then use the CWM to disable the signature check and install the root.zip

Does not work (and will not work unless signature verification is first somehow disabled.)
OP, please update your post.

[Solved] any other alternative to flash
I lost root after upgraded to ICS and can't get into recovery too, any alternative I can flash this root ?

I had a similar issue.
If mashkuov's solution of uninstall/reinstall does not work, try what I did.
I ended up going into the manage applications and made sure I killed Titanium Backup. I had to Force Close it twice, once in the Running, and once as a Cached process. Then I restarted, and this time I made sure I hit Allow , perhaps I accidentally blocked it the first time when I ran Titanium backup.
Also make sure it isn't somehow remembered as Disallowed in Super User (crazier things have happened... )

I have a question
when I try to move widget or drag on the screen. Sometimes it goes in to apps search mode. it is very annoying how to disable it.
I have 4.0.4

Did you try the given instructions?
Mine failed at first because I thought Cwm only uses buttons but it can be controlled via screen. (not like the recovery option)
Another thing I found out is that: The rooting instruction might be contrary to the Cwm options (instead from install from external sd, try browsing the zip file via internal sd) someone mentioned it here and it worked for me.

Unable to flash ROM Galaxy Ace S5830

Problem solved long ago
Delete thread
Wrong thread to post in.
Anyways,
When you use "update from SD card" option the code is installed from "update.zip" in sdcard - so if there is some garbage code in update.zip it will corrupt the installed ROM on the device (or even the kernel - as might have happened in your case) and errors like bootloop and errors in recovery show up.
That being the background ... you should ask around in the galaxy ace section for specific instructions to use odin to restore your friends phone
Here's a little guide on how to flash a ROM via ODIN by me:
Requirements:
- A Windows computer
- A Galaxy Ace plugged into the computer via USB
- You must have ODIN installed , duh !
- (Windows Vista/7 compulsory) Running ODIN with Administrative rights:
- Ended KIES via Task manager:
Instructions:
1 - Download your favourite firmware here
2 - Extract the .rar out using WinRAR or 7zip (password is samfirmware.com)
3 - Check if it's a FULL package or ONE package:
FULL Package instructions:
1 - Open up ODIN (MAKE SURE ALL REQUIREMENTS ARE MET)
2 - Set your phone in Download Mode (Home + Power + Volume Down)
3 - Once you have correctly entered Download Mode and plugged in , this should appear in ODIN:
4 - Place the files in this order:
OPS - Select the file named Cooper_v1.0.ops (or anything like that)
BOOT - Select the file named "APBOOT_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03_user_low_true.ta r.md5"
where "xxxxx" = Your firmware version
Phone - Select the file named "CODE_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03_user_low_true.tar. md5"
where xxxxx = firmware version
PDA - DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING
CSC - Select the file named "GT-S5830-MULTI-CSC-xxxxxx.tar.md5"
where "xxxxxx" = the CSC region
EFS - Select the file named "MODEM_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03.tar.md5"
xxxxx = firmware version (Be VERYVERY careful with this EFS part)
After you're done , click on "Start" and let the magic reveal itself slowly......
ONE Package method:
1 - Open up ODIN
2 - Set your phone in Download Mode while plugged into USB
3 - Tick the option "One Package" in ODIN (Refer to previous ODIN picture)
4 - Select the only .tar.md5 file
Now press start and watch the magic.....
Click to collapse
more of the above here
Good luck.

Right now just try to wipe everything, and format system!
Try this time to flash the custom rom correctly!
Choose zip from SDCARD and not apply update
If that doesn´t help
try flash with ODIN 4.38

Try redownloading the file.
I have redownloaded the file and replaced on SD card but still get the same problem. Should I be installing the "CWM 5.0.2.6" file in the clockwork mod part(yellow text) or the Android recovery mode (orange text) part?
So frustrating, Im obviously doing something wrong!
p.s if I try to apply in the android update from from sdcard I get a status 2 error.

Galaxy Mini 2 recovery loop

I was trying to make a backup of my entire system through CWM(based) 5.0.2.8, but after it was done and I rebooted it, it started up in recovery mode again, and it does this with every reboot.
I've tried 1 fix I found which could have worked (exitrecovery.zip), but it did not work, and I couldn't find one specificly for the GT-S6500D.
I am hoping someone knows of a fix.
Cheers.
edit: I'm also not able to access Download Mode for some reason.

Whose CWM did you use ? Squadzone's or mb-14's ?
You can access the download mode by holding Volume Down + Home + Power pressed until the download mode prompt appears , then press Volume Up to continue .
If you manage to get into download mode , flash Squadzone's CWM with Odin and the problem will be fixed .
I hope the so-called "exitrecovery.zip" didn't make the Download Mode unavailable and you were just pressing the wrong buttons . If you won't be able to enter DM , your phone is quite toast .

I hope the so-called "exitrecovery.zip" didn't make the Download Mode unavailable and you were just pressing the wrong buttons . If you won't be able to enter DM , your phone is quite toast .

I got the same problem as you! But I wen to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255214 and download the file Root Zip for G2X: http://www.mediafire.com/?92qpr525ztblh8w and put in a SD card... then in recovery go to install zip from SD card and install that file, and reboot. I will be just the same recovery-loop but now at least I could go to download mode (volume down+home+power) and put odin from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768622 and install the ClockWorkMod 5.0.2.8 again with odin and then my cellphone fix! Hope this help you too man!

this solved my problem.
I had the same problem with rooting S6500
I give you here my fix that stops boot with CWM Recovery (you will still access CWM recovery with Volume Down + Home + Power pressed)
Resolution 100% for bootlooping S6500 with CWM Recovery
1 - Grab a stock rom
2 - Extract boot.img
3 - Go to Linux and run
Code:
tar -H ustar -c boot.img >boot.img.tar
4 - flash boot.img.tar with ODIN (donwload mode Volume Down + Home + Power pressed)
you boot normally now!
5 - try recovery CWM - Volume Up + Volume Down + Home + Power pressed
NOTE:
‘ustar’ Creates a POSIX.1-1988 compatible archive needed for ODIN (7zip and others on windows doesnt have this option, and gives errors on flashing, so dont use them)
have fun!
i've resolved this problem by flashin cwm thru odin again..
TAR for Windows
Here is the link for "Tar for Windows":
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gtar.htm
Download and install it.
after instalation:
1. Extract boot.img from the firmware file, using 7zip (ignore the error)
2. Open a command prompt window in the folder containing boot.img (Shift+Right Click anywhere in the folder window, or CD to the folder)
3. Run the command instructed by testz:
Code:
tar -H ustar -c boot.img >boot.img.tar
4. flash boot.img.tar with ODIN (donwload mode Volume Down + Home + Power pressed)

[Q] Cannot get from UCKH3 TO UCKK4 kies/ota fail.

my kernel is 2.3.35.7-i897UCKH3-CL461307
The wiki states I must be at Android 2.3 build UCKK4 (AT&T) to get to cm10.
I tried the captivate OTA update- says I am at most recent firmware.
I tried kies- and it says unregistered device.
I just bought this phone (new-unlocked) from amazon to replace my failed captivate (running cm10). I really miss CM on the phone. lol.
Can someone point me in the correct direction? I am hoping there is a way to get to cm10 from where I am.
Any help is appreciated.

Quick few questions please? (elaboration)
from the read-me / many posts:
**Once u have the i897 Gingerbread Bootloaders, it is not necessary to flash them again. They are
backwards compatible, therefore you can flash Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, CyanogenMod, MIUI without issues,
per the proper install instructions.
-Are the bootloarders mentiond, the ones from flashing, or from samsung/att itself. eg. I have stock gingerbread 2.3.4 from the factory, should I use the bootloaders or not?
-Would it hurt to reinstall the bootloaders if there was any question?
- I performed a dry run, and cannot get the "digging down android" I get this:
Android system recovery <3e>
Samsung recovery utils -for bml-
image:
http://imgur.com/bJcQDXU
What I expected:
http://apcmag.com/images/galaxy-froyo-3.jpg
Did I do something wrong? (edit: built a jig- goes into digger mode now)
-since I am on 2.3.4 I am tryin gto install the kk4 you linked-
the instructions say get to download mode (done)
run oding as admin (done)
yellow com lights up(done)
press start? --how does this get to the correct file? do I load it under PIT, PDA, PHONE, CSC?
thanks much.

any advice?
Have u looked at this Captivate - PC Connection Issues... thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33227541
Be careful flashin packages with bootloaders. If flash fails during the install of the boot.bin or sbl.bin u could possibly brick ur phone.
If u were on anything gingerbread before this, then u have the gb bootloaders. So u can use a package without the Bls included.
Try a different micro usb/usb cable or diffferent usb port. More info in that thread i linked.
Majority of the time, the trying of a different cord is the solution.

Yea, I bricked it. Back running though. Was a hairy couple of hours. lol.

Here is how I did it (100% working)-
From android 2.3.4.
Directions that worked: I used linux host running a xp virtual machine guest. This may have presented sopme issues, but it worked.
I used the odin method. Each time I connnected the phone I needed to goto devices and click the phone. I need to do this
because I needed 2.3.5 to get a rom installed, and OTA/Kies failed everytime.
Preliminary: Download Rom (and gapps) and get on internal 13gb SD card. power off phone.
Flash to Stock I897UCKK4 Gingerbread Firmware
A. Download:

B. extract
a. run as administrator odin file contained in the archive itself.
b. get to download mode (i used the jig method- button method may be used also)
C. click start.
a. (took me 5 tries to get a successfull install ..whew.. each failure I removed battery
and held the up/down vol buttons and tried again whhile the usb was connected. I believe it may have been a
corrupt download, as when I redownloaded it it worked on the 5th try)
Install CornKernel & Rom
Prerequisites:
Download Odin3 v1.7.zip & install
Download CornKernel_UCKK4_v70a

[RECOVERY][ROOT] Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini 3G (GT-I9190)

WARNING! ONLY USE THIS ON THE GT-I9190 MODEL!
Hello all S4 Mini owners!
I'm happy to finally release ClockworkMod recovery and an insecure kernel for the GT-I9190. With these two installed on your device, obtaining root is easy.
Attached to this post is the necessary files needed for this task. Download the following files:
Odin_v3.09.zip (if you don't have it already)
recovery-clockwork-6.0.5.1-serrano3gxx.tar.zip
S4Mini_RootKit_v2.zip (contains SuperSU v1.89 and BusyBox v1.21.1)
Extract recovery-clockwork-6.0.5.1-serrano3gxx.tar.zip file to your computer.
The procedure is as:
Copy the "S4Mini_RootKit_v2.zip" to your device SD card.
Turn off the phone.
Press and hold home, volume down and power. Download screen should appear.
Connect USB cable, and press volume up.
Start Odin, uncheck "F. Reset Time", and then click AP button.
Select "recovery-clockwork-6.0.5.1-serrano3gxx.tar.md5" file that you previously extracted, and press Start button. The phone will reboot when finished.
After the phone resets (it vibrates) IMMEDIATELY hold volume up and home buttons to boot into recovery mode.
Select the option to install the ZIP file you have previously copied to your device and begin flashing it.
After flashing using CWM, reboot into system and enjoy your rooted device.
To get rid of the the warnings about applications doing not permitted actions, delete the following files from system/app, or let SuperSU fix it for you.
KNOXAgent.apk
KNOXStore.apk
ContainerAgent.apk
Sorry about the delay, but here's root and recovery for the GT-I9190. Note that it's untested though, as I don't have this device.
Thanks sir Arco, you are great.I tested my device everythings working good.
arco great work, however can you compile/port twrp aswel? they have the source code and seems to me like it's the same thing.
just asking :-"
Could this work on i9192 dual sim model? Is it safe to test?
Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Dual sim version is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368561
First post updated with RootKit v2. This replaces Superuser app with the app from Koush (ClockworkMod author) and with updated su and busybox binaries. Also some kernel updates merged in from MG3 sources.
Also updated CWM to 6.0.3.7
I'm really scared of doing this as i am uber noob, lucky my friend is using CM10.1 on his Galaxy S2 and can give me some help.
I will attempt once a CM ROM is available for the i9190
Thanks a lot Arco :good:
arco68 you don't like twrp? why don't you compile it for the s4 mini? twrp has alot more advantages than cm recovery, you can select what partitions to backup, built in file manager, touch, built in command line and so on. I think it would pimp this phone even more.
Added S4Mini_RootKit_v1.zip to the first post. This should work on all S4 Mini's, as it doesn't require an insecure kernel, meaning root works with stock kernel. Also fixed the issue with BusyBox.

Did you miss entering recovery after the phone rebooted after you flashed with Odin?
You must catch it or else stock recovery will be reloaded. Just redo the process and make sure to catch entering recovery immediately after you flash with Odin
