My local GameStop has them in their back room already. Release should be any day I hope!!!!! Just wanted to spread the good news.

Staples website said the earliest they will arrive at purchasers house's will be the 13th. So, I'm guessing the 13th may be the day Google has given the all clear to release.

Was told my my local manager that if it does drop Thursday, then all of us who ordered it from him would be welcome to show up at midnight on Thursday to pick it up. How dope would it be for a midnight launch:good::good::good:.

that's great news for those who ordered from Gamestop - specifically speaking, your local store. Too bad the same isn't reflected here in Australia for our local EBGames stores. Still showing up on the site as an estimated release date of 27/07/2012. Either way I'm sticking with my PlayStore order, as I'd assume would be arriving sooner than the 27th.

I pre-ordered last night at Gamestop and the manager told me they already had a stack in the back room. He also said that I would get one when the release date is finalized.
However, after this, like many have seen, the release date on his screen shows up as 7/31. Said he'd give me a call when/if that date changes and that they'd probably have a midnight pickup.
I can't friggin wait!!

I wonder how many employees that preordered themselves are in the back room after hours playing with their nexus tablets. Back in the day I worked at blockbuster for a while and we always got goods early... sometimes weeks in advance. I never bought a game system or anything but we were allowed to watch movies a week or two in advance.

Yeah I loved having a mom that worked at the movie store! lol...always had stuff a week before it came out.

I was thinking that myself. The reason I preorderd it through Google was so I could get it first. It'd be a bummer if it didn't work out that way.

I understand you being mad (it makes sense), but you shouldn't be mad at the people who get them. You should be mad at Google.
EDIT: Ok. I was wrong. You shouldn't be mad at Google either. They're busting their balls to try to make it fair for you. If some people do get them (which they will) then you should be mad at the company for releasing them.

If you do end up getting it tonight, will you post some pictures and stuff just to prove that it's possible to get it from GameStop early? I'm going when they open tomorrow and asking if they have mine. I'm pretty sure I was the only pre-order and I live in a smallish town, so I doubt they've received anything telling them not to release the devices.

Just confirmed with a personal friend of mine that is a manager of a gamestop. They currently have their stock of Nexus 7s in stock and ready to be sold but are waiting on Asus to give a street date for them. :good:

Already confirmed and there is a topic for this.

Good luck with that. Asus and Google won't want to upset those that ordered at the announcement online, when they could have walked to the end of the road and picked one up instore quicker.
Expect store units to be delayed until after the initial shipments of online ordered have been dispatched to prevent a PR nightmare.

Well just called to confirm my preorder at gamestop. They asked when I preordered and since I was the first one to preorder they said mine is available for pickup tomorrow. Apparently not all of the preorders will be filled tomorrow and it depends on where in line you are. There has been many many cases of devices being available earlier at a local store than people received them direct from the manufacturer. This looks to be the same :highfive:

I suggest you get there at opening, and don't give them time to read their corporate EMails.

I pre-ordered on June 26th (thru the Play Store) just after the Nexus 7 was announced at Google I/O. It grieves me to know that I would have been better off waiting two days and ordered thru GameStop after it was announced that they would be selling the Nexus 7 Tablet, because waiting two more days to place the order would have gotten the tablet in my hands faster. (This is going to make for some really bad PR for Google...)
Edit: Had the wrong date of July 4th... (wrote from memory and remember a big event on July 4 - LHC announcement of finding the Higgs partical... Somehow crossed that with the Google I/O event the previous week)

i pre ordered yesterday at the store, the guy told me august 1st but probably earlier. went back today to finish paying it off and the same guy told me that they had to wait for asus and google to set a release date. he also said that i will more than likely have it in my hands way before august 1st but couldnt give me an exact date. heres to hoping i get that call tomorrow or the next day. congrats to those of you that are getting it tomorrow, assholes! im jealous

NOBODY is getting it until google and asus announce the official date.. unless you went to Google I/O... they cant and will not give it up before its official.. maybe that is a big hint that tomorrow might be the day, who knows. all i know is that even if it is tomorrow, my local gamestop hasnt recieved their shipment yet, so i wont even recieve mine unless it comes tonight (IF it comes out tomorrow)

So half the GameStops are saying come and pick up and half are saying we were told we have to hold them so I guess you just have to be lucky

I received a call from my gamestop saying to come pick it up in the morning. I have no reason to not believe them unless I get a call back from them saying sorry not tomorrow

Gamestop came through.

Received a text at 10:20 and a call at 10:40....picked up my 16gig at 11:00 and couldn't be happier!
After my trade-ins I paid $45usd!
Now to root!

What Gamestop? Hawaii is not selling as of yesterday. Of course its only 0630 here.

Ipod nano 6th gen, (85$) and some misc ps3 games. This was a Gamestop in WV

I can also confirm I have my tablet from game stop!!!
Called me earlier, had in store waiting for me.

Checked my messages at home and got a call from gamestop that my nexus 7 is ready for pick up. Headed there now to pick it up!!!

Man these stores are going to get into serious trouble for selling these, and now that they are actually being sold at retail, we still arent getting any word from google about our play store pre-orders, more and more people are getting them at their local retail stores now and no other info what so ever, really a shame as I sold my other tablet early because I expected to get this based on what they had said about availability and you would figure that pre-orders from their site would be showing up on people's doorsteps now if others are actually buying them from places like Gamestop. Of course Gamestop isnt supposed to be selling these, so thats probably why, you are lucky you got it because you werent supposed to

Just bought mine from GameStop. I didn't pre-order.
The only devices they had there were the ones that had gotten pre-ordered, and the guy working there was the only one to pre-order it. So he sold me his reserved one. Said he would wait a little longer and take his girlfriend out to dinner or something.
Made my week.

Reserved it yesterday. Turns out I don't get it for another week or so since they don't have any except for pre orders (and I was the only one).

I won't list the city because we don't have a lot of Gamestops in the state and I don't want ours getting in trouble, but got the text around 9:20AM and a phone call at 10:30 (while on the phone with one store rep who said they couldn't sell it...) saying it was ready for pick up. Went and got it, was told they got an email this morning to "sell them if you got them"...and we were "supposed" to be the August 7th wave...but still got it today...and the price rang up as $99,999.00 originally, took a LOT of finaggling on the clerk's part to get the price down to the $249.99...then the poor kid gave me CASH BACK (the ENTIRE nexus7 was paid for by the trade in of a butt load of "older" games and an ipad 1st gen 16gb, which the nexus was replacing) for my store credit, and I did the math, they didn't pull my extra 20% that they were supposed to...bonus of $20 for me today!

Samclub is selling them also. I'm in line buying it right now.

Seen the "Gamestop ok to release Nexus 7" article this morning. I called mine and they said since I pre-ordered on the last day I would get it tomorrow or Monday. Then my wife got a text saying I could go pick it up today. Don't know who to believe, the manager or the text!

I just talked to a Gamestop rep in Slidell La. Gamestop stores in Covington, picyune and Mandeville are in stock. No stores on the south shore have them yet but she did say they're expecting their shipment later. I guess around 3 pm.

I pre ordered on the 27th but ran out a couple hours ago and grabbed the last one that Abt Electronics had in stock. Gonna either return this one or sell it to my friend when my other one gets here. This thing is pretty badass.

Yep. I called in before I got there and they had 12 left. By the time I got there they were down to 7. They sold out of those 7 from online orders during the 3 minutes I was playing with the floor model. I made a small stink with the manager and made him sell me one of the 7.

I have two arriving from Google..whenever..(preordered on 6/27) so unless I find out some of my friends want them, they're being refused.

I ended up buying mine from Samsung club and ill give the one from the play store when or if it ever comes.

I expected myself to have more patience lol. As soon as I saw that everyone was going to Sam's club I couldn't resist anymore.
Anyway I hope Google learns something from this. They pissed off a lot of loyal customers by just not giving out an official release date.. They should know we can't handle that ****

I called Google today about this. I was told the usual story about how it was too late to cancel, but was advised to simply refuse delivery. I'm under the impression that as long as you make sure the UPS driver is not allowed to leave the package at your location, you will be refunded in full. If you cannot properly refuse delivery, bringing it to a UPS facility within 5 business days (with the box unaltered) should also net a full refund.
The bottom line being: don't open the package. don't wait too long to return it if you couldn't refuse delivery.

I bought one from my local sam's club.. I had pre-ordered one from google on July 3rd.. but nothing seems to be moving.
If/when it comes, I'll offer it to my dad if he likes it. If not, I'll either sell it or send it back to google.

I preordered and ended up ordering one from GameStop on the 11th when that whole July 12 date starting floating around.
Just got my shipping confirmation from Google play. Going to try to contact ups to return to sender before having to refuse delivery.

Nowinstock was showing that Wal-Mart recently had them instock, but the website wouldn't let me purchase... I'm having some bad luck!

Gamestops around here.

MacMall.com, Staples, Office Max, Sears.com, Walmart.com, Sams Club, Game Stop. Sears had a 16gb for $239 yesterday I think but it wouldn't come until August.

Same here. Closest thing is Staples 2 hours from me. Was tempted but my pre order is finally due tomorrow. Hoping my patience pays off with a good unit.

Staples - you can check inventory online at nearby stores everyday - very good real-time updates of stock.

Me too. Staples. Followed the stock online and it is very accurate. When you see "not sold in this store", Just means they are out of stock. Keep checking and the same stores will change to "in stock." My store changed late saturday nite and showed in stock Sunday, I bought on Monday, they still had one for a guy on the phone while I was there, and Monday nite it changed to "not sold in this store."

Staples. Like the person above said, you can check in-store stock online. My local store had TWO 16GB ones in stock on Sunday when I checked, so I left immediately and got one

Staples is great. They get the nex7 in everyday on ups shipments. Seems like the average is 1-4 per store. Call around 10-11 and see if they have one.

I found mine at a micro center in my city(Kansas City). Checked online and they said they had 9 left. Called and they said they had 7 left. Then again the area that it was in was wealthier area. Pretty sure everyone in that area had iPads. They could care less about a $200 tablet

Got mine at the MacMall in Torrance, CA. Seems the store there and Huntington Beach have a substantial supply (Huntington had 60 last I checked). In store only, 16gb.
I initially tried the Staples route but there was only one store in Southern California that sold it (Pasadena). Must've annoyed the hell out of them calling everyday. They seem pretty clueless as to when they were expecting shipments.

I got ,one at staples but just got shipping notification from the play store after I tried to cancel. If anyone can't find one I'll sell the extra 16 gig nex7 at cost just to avoid having to refuse shipment and whatnot.
