Hey guys,
I got my xperia t yesterday and i immediatly updated it to jelly bean. Ive done 3 full charges already and mediaserver keeps draining my battery. I put in an empty sd card and ive only got a few photos. Does this go away after a few days or should i do something about it?

Let it settle for a few days. It will get better. This is normal behaviour
Odp: Mediaserver battery drain
In my case Mediaserver stands ONLY for any app that plays music when the screen is off. So for me it's PowerAMP.

Okay i hope you're right. Battery is still pretty good though even with the mediaserver draining it. I find it a great phone already!

Mm it's been three days now and somewhere.around 7 charges and mediaserver is still draining my battery. Is this still normal? Should i leave the device on as long as possible to let it settle? Or should.i reboot every day?

This is really strange. It shouldn't be that way.
Well if you want, you could try repairing the software using PCCompanion or Sony Update Service. And then check if the problem still exist.
Re: Mediaserver battery drain
It's slowly getting better im just going to wait a couple more days. Screen is highest consumer now instead of mediaserver but its still high.

If youre on root, download rescan media root. Disable automatic scanning.
Then download rescan media to rescan manually.
Both are available on play store

Hello guys. It seems that I have extreme battery loss after a charge, but then the drain drops to a manageable level. I am running CM9 20120512, stock kernel. Here are some pictures:

Hey jc. Really? That can cause issues? I noticed that after like 3 hours it did enter deep sleep. I also just recalibrate the battery twice, but instead I let it fully discharge after calibration, then allowed for full recharge. It seems to be working better but will keep an eye on it.
Thanks for getting back to me and I love the work you're doing for the touchpad

There's lots of info on using BBS here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
There's a bit of learning curve to using it.
Alternatively, you could re-install CM from scratch without installing any apps. Test battery drain. Install one app. Test battery drain. Install another app. Test battery drain. Etc.

Hmm that is an option. I actually had that app installed previously. But I'll check out the forum. I notice that Facebook messenger uses a lot of battery, but everyone and their mother has it installed.
My Xperia V was draining much battery while sleeping, so yesterday I flashed cm-10.1.3-RC2 hoping it could get better.
But it's still draining almost 30% in a period of 8 hours, while I'm sleeping.
I can notice a huge drain caused by Google Services and have already greenified some apps.
It can't be normal, right?! Could someone help me?
Despite this problem, now I have a really better smartphone... So, thank FXP and, please, keep supporting Xperia V.

Not sure if this question belongs to be an own thread...but ok. here we go.
from my experience with Cm i can tell you, if you want better battery life, then you maybe should use a stock firmware!
I used CM and AOKP some weeks before, but the battery drain wasnt normal, not to say horrible.
But this is my experience. You should ask in your CM-Rom Thread, or CM Q/A Thread i think.
I'm a new member and I couldn't ask this in CM thread
I understood what you've said, but even using stock rom I was having that percentage of draining at night...
Do you have a Xperia V?
Could you (or someone else) tell me how much draining is considered normal in the period I've mentioned before?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
30% in 8 hours means that on average your battery will last a day.
That is perfectly normal.
Also, if you keep flashing stuff and installing apps then it drains battery quicker. Leave it alone for a week and see if it settles down.
Sorry, i have a Xperia T.
in the xperia T thread of tilals unofficial CM build (development section) someone mentions also such problems:

Seriously though this ROM is great. All that needs to be fixed are the camera bug, music wakelock thing, and heavy battery usage from Android System and Google Services and then it's basically perfect.

So, i guess its normal? But an actual CM User can give you better report. Not using it anymore.
awww, gregbradley?
30% in 8hours sleeping? horrible....but you are right, let it settle, fmlogin
Omg, my Galaxy s3 loses only 2% in the same period while sleeping, it's a BIG difference
I had been facing this problem since I bought this phone (2 months ago), that's why I tried to flash CM yesterday... So, I think that nothing will change if I just wait...
Anyway, thank you guys...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
apologies, I didn't see that it was 8 hours while you were asleep. That is not right. But it may be because its working hard after a flash. Please leave it for a while and it should settle, or install better battery stats app (Free on xda) and see whats keeping the phone awake.
Also check what your cpu is set at and the governor, if its on performance it will be maxing out all the time..
The governor is ondemand and I didn't change the clock of cpu...
I'll install the app and come back with a screenshot, so I think it'll be easier to find some problem

Mavhia, can you notice an unusual consume from google services?

Some screenshots.
The graphs show another problem: it is like the phone just know that lost some battery when I turn on the screen.
For example: if I leave the phone with 95%, it pass the hole night "thinking" it has this value, but when I turn on the screen the battery instantly loses around 15%, this "fast drain" stabilizes when it reaches the "real percentage".
Could it be a hardware problem? The battery itself...
Has already someone noticed something similar?

Haven't had problems with screen freezing, but I was getting some pretty subpar battery life.
It may be counter-intuitive but my battery life has Drastically improved by turning off power saver. I don't know if the throttle up/down on cpu and brightness is too aggressive and does more harm than good or what but this was the major offender for me. My battery went from ~10 hours to ~20+ on normal usage.
Some other things I did that netted a gain before turning off power saver.
Change Settings/Wifi/Advanced/Keep Wifi on During Sleep from always to only when plugged in.
Freeze app/task for S-Search
Freeze S-Voice
Turn off settings / controls / motions
Turn off settings / controls / air gesture
Turn off settings / controls/ smartscreen
Hey thanks for all the info. Will try all that u suggested

Hi all..... My phone is suffering from intense battery drain on any KitKat rom I put it on..... KitKat is faster than the stock ones.... But the battery drop is literally a straight line.... Typical symptoms. Buy a new one.
Um..... A new battery right? I have one...... I'll try it and see how it goes
Weirdly though, the battery drop isn't noticeable on stock ROMs..... why would that be?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Free mobile app
Maybe you have some major wakelocks going on, but I don't see the phone being awake all the time..
You could always try disabling sync, sync in apps such as facebook, disable GPS, remove the Google+ app.
Do that and see if the issue persists. I'd say it's a dead battery, but the confusing thing is that it doesn't happen when you're on stock ROMs, like you said.

Check Settings -> Battery and see what's actually using your battery.
Install BetterBatteryStats (you can find it here on xda) and use that to pinpoint the problem.
