Look like shoud be as easy as opening WD My Passport
Woudl be good to know, or lets hope these batteries are decent to last...
It's a bit tricky, I damage my friend's DS7!!!! Right now there is ni extended battery for the DS7 (Correct me if I'm wrong), only the external (4 X AA) batteries.
If anything goes, I'll let you know.
Ouch, 1st report we hear and its "Damaged DS7" so what happened when you damaged it, Give some reports and precautions please. =)
Hey theres a video somewhere with a guy opening the ds7! Don't remember where! Google it!
From my CM7 urban themed Glacier
Video isnt the same as actual feedback with someone who will caution and so. =p

Firstly: Please post in QA section
Secondly: Try pulling the battery then restarting.

went out of your way for that? this is the general section.. seems a fair place to ask? q&a is more for the roms i thought?
but whatever, thanks for the advise! lol.. but i tried pulling the battery..
anyone else?
edit: ok, ya got me.. i meant to post in the general section! how the hell it ended up here i dunno.. my bad, could a mod please move it?
It isn't possible for it to just 'die' out of no where. If it was working earlier and it doesn't turn on something is definetly wrong. Sorry for your phone.
you did try taking out the battery right?

ALL QUESTIONS GO IN Q&A... That's what the q is for.
General is for, general discussions about the captivate.
There is a big banner at the top of the general section that says "don't post questions here"
Thank you. Have a nice day

It's in Q&A now.
Sometimes my phone locks up like that, and I have to pull the battery. It restarts fine and runs fine once I do that. It doesn't happen often (thankfully). I think it's a kernel problem, it was more frequent when I used the 4.1 kernel that came with Serendipity VII. With Talon it is a rare occurrence.
This is why, when I get my Note, I'm going to do nothing but root it for awhile. It'll be nice having a stock, fast, stable phone.
I guess the issue solved
I never would be able to live with Stock. Seeing how buggy that Stock is - Samsung GB 2.3.4KK4, I'm looking at you: Browser lag, Gallery black out, camera and music player with battery limit, intentionally low volume, SMS time bug etc.
As far as theming I tend to agree - stock Samsung theme is pretty good.
Also: having stable undervolt and overclock is causing a shout of joy in my nerd innards, I can jump and sing at the triumph of technology.

[Q] Problem with my new Vietnamese galaxy note battery!

Hello everyone, yesterday i figured a big problem with the battery of my 3 Weeks note.
I'm so upset and its driving me crazy.
I screen captured this. Battery life became so short it hardly works for 10 hours maximum if i don't use it much. Thanks
might want to get rid of that any.do app or change the settings. .
No i don't think any do is the problem as i downloaded it about 2 Weeks ago, and the problem started just yesterday.
what settings do you think i should modify?
well maybe any do wasn't the problem 2 weeks ago.. but it is the problem now.. why ask if u aren't going to take advice?
do you have the original samsung batterie? or an cheap rebuilt one? I've made some bad experience with cheap chinese batteries...
Do you have the stock kernel? In some old versions of Abyss Kernel i had bad batterie lives...
Dear bambo i did take advice and deleted the app. I've formatted the device 30 minutes ago as well.
Still having the same problem.
Mr David its the phone's original battery made in Japan finished in China
I took a screen shot after the formatting. Its just getting worse.
Thanks for helping guys
tap on the graph to expand it and post that.
Try badass battery monitor pro and see what may be keeping the phone awake, or waking it up often.
what graph?
I've had loads of batt drain problems, and found the batt stats app to be really misleading.
In nearly all cases a random app 'appeared' to be the culprit but further investigation yielded it as being some other app filling the system log (logcat). Try looking at something you installed more recently. Uninstall them one by one and check foe when the batt drain stops. That'll be your culprit I reckon.
The more complicated approach is to install something like catlog from Google Play and read through the system log and try to work it out that way. I used his approach to discover WidgetLocker was capping my juice even though AVG was being reported as the battery hog!

Go to market and install Better Battery Stats. It will give you all the wakelocks and the culprit apps and kernel that might be eating your battery and not allowing the device to go into deep sleep and conserve battery !
Thanks for helping guys, I formatted the phone yesterday.
I‘am afraid the battery has a hardware problem. I'll have to contact the store I think, thanks to ALLAH I have 1 year full warranty. But I've got 2 questions for you guys:
1- I charge the phone while sleeping, so it stays plugged about 4 hours after its fully charged. Does that shorten the battery ‘a life?
2- Does the Android get viruses? Cuz if its not a battery problem, it might be a virus though.

-1- No, dont worry about your batt if u plugged more.
-2- I dont know about virus, but what i know if u install crack apps its maybe a virus.

[Q] Temperature

Since yesterday my phone gets really hot while charging.
Both a standard charger and a USB connection to my laptop have this eeffect.
The only thing i can think of that i did, was an update of NFC software from playstore.
I have removed all NFC software and will test again tonight.
Anyone else with similar problems?
Greetz....

Yesterday my phones turned off because it reached a too high temperature, maybe because I overclocked it lol

Since this could be a serious problem with some Xperia phones (i am not the only one having this problem) i thought it would be a good idea to open a thread on the topic concerning the Xperia SP.
Same problem

Don't bother. It is normal for phones to get hot while charging, especially when you are running heavy programs and Wi-Fi.
My phone did reboot once due to overheating. No big deal really.

Thanks!!!

I also wi'll be looking for it. I'll advertise you if I find the solution before.
There are two possible solutions. First of them is to root your device in order to underclock the CPU to 1,2 Ghz. You won't notice any performance decrease but a considerable heat disminution. The other one solution is to unlock your SP's bootloader, rooting it and install a kernel compatible with undervoltage. Then, undervolt it.
I hope this may help you.
Cheers!
Could NFC be the problem?
First off, thanks everyone for your reactions.
I am a bit dissapointed by the reaction from Sony:
If the battery gets around 60°C or more, you are right to be worried. Try to keep the battery temperature beneath 50°C for a healthy battery life, there are apps and widgets on the Play Store which can measure the temperature.
Make sure there aren't too many demanding apps running in the background, try closing some apps and see what impact it has on the phone (charging or not)
My problem seems solved however. I remembered giving OK to an NFC software update the previous day.
So what i did was undelete NFC software and do a cold reboot.
My battery drainage is back to normal (meaning LOW) and no heatproblems anymore.
Furthermore the heat semmed to be worst arounf the NFC contact area.
Since this is a company phone i cant fool arounf with it to much.
I am curious to know if anyone has had the same experience?
Thanks all and Bye

Find Screen On Time

So.... I feel absolutely stupid asking this question, but I've been on AOSP ROMs for the longest time, and just recently switched to a Sense ROM, and I'm looking for where I can find my Screen on time and just cannot for the life of me find it.... I've searched the web to no avail either....
So.... if someone could kindly let me know where I find this it would be great, I'll even accept the namecalling for such a dumb question... Especially from someone pursuing a degree in Math and Computer Science......

So there is no way to find exact screen on time? What I'm looking for is something similar to AOSP with an exact time of how much time the screen has been on during that battery cycle.
Yes look for betterbatterystat apk around here or I think gsam battery monitor in play store

Awesome thanks, that did it. Wish there was a native way to show screen on time, but I guess gsam will have to do.
Np, if u like to get a little more out of ur battery try to find the betterbatterystats apk floating around. Helps a lot with wakelocks and apps that drain. I like it a lot more than gsam. I'll try and dig it up and post it
