Thinking about doing this for our kindle fire. I'm sure I'm one of many doing the same upgrade as they are pretty much identical tablets (besides JB/amazon ui of course)
I'm gonna post this on fire forums to see who is leaving too...

I don't understand why people are doign this. you are paying 50 more dollars for the device, and probably will get it after people that ordered from google play?
edit - found out it's the 16gb version

I don't understand, what's not impressive about it?
I was amazed at the fire when it came out, and jumped on one. it's pretty much the same reason why everyone wanted a kindle fire. it was awesomely priced for what it offered.
now this thing offers everything the fire doesn't have like gps, front facing camera, more memory, quad core, 12core gpu and more stuff for the same price point. all it needs is a memory expansion slot, which I can live without since I don't keep music on my stuff, which means 8gb or 16gb will be plenty for me.

The fact that it runs JB, has Google Now, will have a great dev community, looks and feels great, has mid-high end specs, and of course that low price tag.
There's already a thread on this subject.

It's all in how you pimp it
that is one ugly car
Yeah, I'm not particularly a fan of pimped Civics, but you can't deny the parallels. Both the NC and the HC hit that sweet spot of being cheap but halfway reputable, easily customizable, and characterized by a community that will make the machine do any number of outrageous things just because they can.
I see you're point but also think you could have found a better example picture.....
Once the NC has a flourishing aftermarket, I will agree with you

id say the nook is more like a jeep wrangler, its cheap, highly customizable, very hard to break (unless it came broke ), and can run anything just about anywhere.. i love both my nook and jeep lol.
I should have grabbed something with front and rear spoilers and visible groundlighting
A cheap, dependable car with low performance that some people hop up to try to make it into something that it isn't?
Sounds about right.
Civic of the tablet world.... hmm... I'm not sure that this is a good thing....

I'm not trying to make it compatible with anyone's brand identity. It is what it is. I have nothing against my brothers who stand around a Civic talking about swapping in lambo doors, even if I am more comfortable talking about swapping in a Honeycomb theme for a custom launcher on a Gingerbread ROM.

Hey everyone! So I just finished installing Angry Birds HD on my Xoom, and I figured I would share with everyone how I did it. All you have to do is install the apk for the Lenovo App Shop, found preinstalled on the latest Lenovo tablets, and buy the game through there app store.
I have uploaded the Lenovo App Shop apk here - http://www.multiupload.com/EF3RKHYBGP

it's appstore created by Lenovo. It has few exclusive apps which cannot be found on other market (android, amazon). BTW, it has better UI than amazon appstore.

Slightly better graphics....but I don't find it to be worth $5 personally.
I already have 3 stars and all of the eggs, and the regular version looks fine to me (and I have ad blocker).
Not really worth the trouble.
to be honest I love hd stuff so I am hoping it comes to amazon as the free app of the day one day lol
Its thw same exact game . Only thing diffrent is the HD lable
Well I realized the 10inch tablet is kinda.. a overkill.. and doesn't fit my needs for portability. Im planning to sell it but i dont know how much is it worth?
Hp Touchpad 32gb
Hp custom fit Case modded with velcro flap to close cover
Hp touchstone
Skinomi Screen protector on it + a brand new one if buyer wants to apply another one
+ 4 brand new clear overstock touchpad screen protectors
Hp usb charger
The serial warranty shows its till aug 2012
how much is this worth now on the market like craigslist.
I used it for about 6 hrs mostly installing preware, tweaks, andriod, 3 movies.
Thank you
$230+ for the device. $30 for the touchstone.
i think best way to sell it is to put it on the auction on ebay.....u will easily get the good price...but i agree with the above poster...its going anywhere between 230-300.....
sell it before those cheap ICS tablets comes out...
Above sounds about right. If you wouldn't mind, I'd be interested in seeing how you modded the case.
um ok

How? Even $300 is only half way there. Plus they are having serious range issues due to the casing with WIFI and GPS. That and Asus has already leaked that they are releasing a newer version in a few months. I would wait for that.
The new 7 inch transformer prime is 250. HD screen, tegra 3. I don't know when it comes out though.

Thanks, that looks really clean. I've been wanting to do something like this myself but wasn't sure what the best way to arrange everything was. I can't understand why HP didn't just put $0.25 worth of velcro or a magnet on this thing themselves.
Good luck selling your TP. I have a Nook Color with CM7 and love the form factor. It feels a lot more portable than just 3" smaller because it also has a 16x9 aspect ratio vs 4x3. The performance probably doesn't measure up to the TP or other tablets you can get now, but I still love it with CM7 and overclocked to 1200mhz. You can find refurb's for as low as $120 or so from time to time, and that will probably keep dropping.
Howdy!
So heres the story, I currently own an early 2011 17" MacBook Pro with an 2.2 Ghz i7 Processor. Recently I've had an itch for a 27" iMac but the buffed version is well beyond my budget. So I had another idea, what if I sell my MBP for say ~1.5k and use that money to build a custom PC with similar specs of the 27" iMac. However as many people might know already, Apple released their new line of retina display MBP's in which they also discontinued the 17".
My particular MBP model happened to be the second to last model they sold so technically speaking, its not incredibly outdated compared to other 17" PC's in the market.
Here's where you guys come in. I have consulted with my family in the matter and all in all, they are very against my idea in saying that it would be a waste of money. Here's a few questions if you guys would be kind enough to give me your sincere opinion (Please leave the fanboyism out of this):
1) Since the 17" MBP was discontinued, do you see it rising in price due to its "rarity" or depreciating due to the new hardware in the new line of MBP's
2) Whats a realistic amount to ask for my 17" MBP (Full specs below)? The computer is in LN (Like New) condition I should add.
3) Anything else I should consider?
Specs:
Hard Drive: 750GB 5400 RPM
Display: 17" High-Res Glossy Display

Oh wait, I forgot to mention that I would be installing OSX since I myself love OSX while the Windows 7 partition would serve for gaming and such.
High five then! Go hackint0sh! Go ahead then, build it. Give it Lion, and you will be happy! Apple ain't that great but, OS X is boss. I'm a hackint0sh-er myself

Tech value will only go down (at least until it becomes Antique but I doubt you want to sit on a computer for 20+ years). As far as asking price you should probably shoot for roughly 1/3 to 1/2 of what you paid for it since it's in LN condition.
Just thought I would share the link on the review Toms Hardware does on the Nexus 5.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/google-nexus-5-smartphone,3720.html
It's a decent review until they get to the reviews.
Then they pretend like they know what they're talking about.
They know that the Note 3 'cheats'. But they fail to mention that other OEMs have closed source optimizations, other devices besides the Note 3 also 'cheat'.
Then they get too much into scores treating the phone like a new video card that's released. Good PC Reviewers (Which Tom's is also not but it's adorable that they try) don't always make for good phone reviewers.

Yea, they definitely focus mostly on benchmarks. Which is kinda lame. No one bases their decision to buy a phone on benchmarks.

People that read Tom's Hardware do. They know their audience well. That is why they focus on ridiculous benchmark numbers in all their reviews.

Well, I do take performance in general into consideration, but benchmarks are *so* unreliable that it's hard to base a decision off of them alone.
However, after reading the full review, I do think it was a good review. The Nexus 5 is a game changer and they realize that.
