I like an old boot animation that was made in March 2010... if I flash it, will it still work even if I'm using the newest HBoot and CM7 nightly?
no need to flash anything, just replace the bootanimation.zip file in /system/media with the stock one, I attached the stock N1 animation for you

Can someone help me get my boot sound back most of the roms are without I'm on FireFly_2.1_Clock and the ujgl2 modem I have wav file i've tried sticking it in the system/etc file the system/media/ui file do i need to rebuild the bootanimation.zip file? Or change something in the xml?

Custom boot sounds don't work with the cappy kernels that have a modded playlogo1 file, which we need to have custom boot animations, and all of the current dev kernels use. It just doesn't work.
If you build roms in the rom kitchen, you can restore boot sounds with sgs tools

Just thought I'd share this custom boot animation I made.

You'll have to push it to your device using adb or android commander or something at the moment, if someone would like to educate me as to how to make this into a ZIP that is flashable via Clockwork then I'll do it for this and any others I create.

They could also try this to install your Bootanimation:
1. Copy bootanimation.zip to the root of your SD Card
2. Move it to /data/local/ or /system/media/ and replace existing one using root explorer.
NOTE: Desire/Sense base phones push bootanimation.zip to /system/customize/resource/
Reboot and Enjoy!

No not at all, but it does say MIUI so it's up to you, I'm gonna work on some more too, I'll update this thread once I'm done.

Why not? Flash a custom kernel. Now open root explorer. Move to system>media and copy your bootanimation file here and confirm overwrite. Set permissions to rw-r-r and reboot.

I was checking out the long list of custom animation boot screens available at XDA
So resized the S3 boot animation to our ace..:silly:
All credits to XDA.
To install the boot animation,File browser method (Rooted devices only)
Connect your phone to your computer via USB and mount the storage card for file transfer.
Copy the bootanimation.zip file that you want to install, to your SD card.
Unmount USB storage and launch the root explorer of your choice on your phone.
With root explorer or any other app that allows you to get to /system/media copy the bootanimation .zip into /system/media (remember to mount R/W)
Rename to bootanimation.zip and set permissions to rw--r--r--
Should Look something like this

it didn't worked on stock rom...
there is no bootanimation.zip file in system/media..
i googled abt bootanimation in samsung stock and i came to know that samsung uses .qmg types of file..so unfortunately bootanimation cannot b changed in samsung stock rom..
but it it cn be done on custom roms..
anyways great work bro...thanks for your work
