HTC Vivid - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

Any can please set up thing for S-OFF on HTC vivid
this wire this is not working ..
I need to S-OFF because Official ICS update didn't work on my mobile and in my phone GB have lot of errs.
And when i contact HTC they said your phone is rooted , bla , bla ......
In that case i need to install ICS ..

Relock you boot loader and run a Ics ruu that's compatible with your phone. The wire s-off works unless you can't get the proper timing down right.
There is guides for this in the holiday/vivid/raider/velocity section of the forums.

How to update to the new HBOOT for S-OFF Users

Ive beaten the system!
back you entire image with backup in cwm4, you can restore the image straight after all this and nothing will be out of place.
firstly you need to create a folder on c: called Android so it looks like this.
C:\Android
in there you need these files
adb
adbwinapi.dll
fastboot
download this >these 3 files, unzip into c:/android
secondly, you need to add one of these this image files to your sd.
>O2 UK
>HTC Europe
>Asia WEE
>Asia India
>Voda-Hutch AU
>Hutch AUS
it holds the newest hboot version for your area or ruu that your running, allowing you access to the unlock code.
reboot into hboot and update it. ( when there it looks for pm11img and it'll say update press up).
reboot again in to hboot.
it'll go through first process again, but don't panic, just press down.
now it should show up with a pink bar at the top of hboot saying *****locked*****
good, now your in! leave your phone in its current state and goto the htc dev site, follow instructions to get code....5mins tops!
unlocked it via the instructions.
you loose everything and go back to your original ruu you flashed with. hence the backup
ok, now goto cmd prompt ( little dos window) and follow the guides shown with cmds for fastboot etc...posts everywhere here and htc tell you on there site.
ok. your bootloaders unlocked...it will say in the top in pink. *****Unlocked*****
now......you need to flash cwm 5.
follow kandeds post to the letter.
there cwm installed.
reflash your backup img to restore everything as it was....jobs done!
and the added benefit that its still s-off lol
now you can hopefully enjoy all the benefits of htc freedom instead of xtc lol.
2 other files as listed elsewhere in this thread are these. (Not tested)

great job, mate. so now the data2sd script works for you ? let me know.
hey hey hey where my credit lolz....?
after our breakthrough of replacing xtc with htcdev bootloader hopefully u guys will get some optimized rom... waiting for bigbear to test few roms for me & i'll also get my hands on a salsa tomorrow...

Yes I , BigBear and a veryfew others were the ones to S-OFF our devices even before the HTC Dev came up with a unlocked Bootloader for HTC Salsa and other devices
So even if you have S-ON no need for the xtc clip anymore...just follow the unlocking thread (in general section ) or HTCdev.com n than u can Root ur phone ...
xtc clip is only and only required to S-OFF the device but now as HTC has themselves given out the unlocks dont bother to s-off
Warning : Updating the HBOOT and Unlocking Voids the warranty

either i'm cursed or something is seriously ****ed with my phone and now i am regretting using the xtc clip to s-off
i've followed your guide to a T and still get and error after updating hboot and going to htc dev
i downloaded the correct ruu
and followed the step but each time it just goes to error phone model
i am so close to giving up and telling my wife to change her phone to something else
but seeing how much she enjoys using it i am holding out here
if you need more information about the phone which you think can help please tell me and i'll provide it
Everything u can. Get a pic of your current hboot screen. Current rom, kernel the lot. Post it up. I'll see if I can help. Software/about phone etc.

Pleaee note.....sometimes it will not update automatically via the HTC hboot update...hence my little files in first post.
If you are trying tto auto update via HTC.....stop, try one of mine, add it to your SD,
Boot into hboot and try and update that way. Let me know your progress...get some pics of above mentioned too....

Hi Bear,
Thanx.. I got it at last. What I did was after a few days, I did another check and update Software, then I am able to run from HTCdev. After posting the token I am able to Unlock Bootloader. I have tried one of the roms. Just to check, if we run again the rom, do we need to rerun the App2sd as well? It seems that the partition is missing.. I am actually doing it for a friend..
Thanx..
Regards,
Huzz107.
It depends but normally yes u do have to redo the data script on each rom

You have s-on.
For you it requires a proper update via htcdev and then unlocking. It will do it.
You may be able to use fastboot...I could but wasn't able to unlock till I has full update, and being s-off I had to create a work around.....which s-on users cannot use.

Referring to posts #14 and #16 indicates user huzz107 with S-ON as being able to successfully unlock the boot loader after an update software to the correct version. The phone I have went through a FOTA update recently to the current correct version as indicated on the htcdev website, I was under the impression this is a proper update just like what huzz107 did. I am now unsure as to what a proper update is

Secondly, The link is not working for step 3.
Also if I am already s-off I can skip step 1 correct?
And when I unlock bootloader thru HTC dev, I select HTC Vivid?
THanks again!
Worked great!
Followed the directions and am now running ICS - flashed to the dark raider 1.1 rom from another thread after and it works great.. was going to try wc's illuminati rom but the link on his site starts out downloading at about 30k/sec and then steadily drops to zero before i get over 60mb.. anyone have a copy they want to mirror or know of another mirror hosting that rom? I know he's not on xda anymore..that's a shame tho he's a good dev.
Anyway thanks for the guide to get ics for us raider users! Worked perfectly!
Sorry for the dumb question about flasing the cingular ruu first, i didn't realize the first ruu it points to was a gb vivid ruu. makes perfect sense now.. lol...sense.. no pun intended..lol

Unlock as you unlocked before doing any changes. If your not having HTC vivid then don't select HTC vivid. If you have raider the simple select others.

When I run the ruu's im in fastboot correct? Searching around I've seen different methods. Just trying to confirm. From the instructions it looks like everythings pretty much done while in the bootloader.

Ok so I ran the ruu's while in fastboot and I had to redo the unlock as if the phone was a vivid and get a new token and now all is well. At least if anyone has a dead brain moment like me they will see this and know

[Q] HTC INCS , How to root using the stock rom

Hello there , I have a HTC Incredible S,
Its untouched , everything is as we get from htc ,
its on 2.3.5 , hboot 2.01 , s-on , ***locked***
I am new to htc ,
I want to gain root and i dont want to lose the official rom , what i want is
to get root on Official stock rom , and keep getting FOTA and OTA updates (ICS IS REleasing next month hopefully).
Thnx if you can help
first, you have to unlock your phone!
you can go to here to do it!
www/htcdev/com
repalce '/' with '.',because i can not post url..
but keep in mind that your waranty will void if you unlock via htcdev method.
it's still a good and easy method if you dont want to flash radios.
Okay what after it ? They sent me a unlock_code.bin file via email. I flashed it using their instructions . I did not continue as it would delete all the data . Any way to backup it first and then unlock the boatloader
Don't use HTCdev unlock! Search the sticky threads for downgrading your hBoot from 2.0 to 1.13 using a goldcard and a stock ruu. There is a script to help too. HTCdev is a lazy fool's way to get custom ROMs. BTW, there is no S-off unlock with HTC dev. Check my signature for more info.

OK, first of all if you use the HTCDEV unlock method, you HBOOT screen will only show UNLOCKED, but it still shows S-ON, so you never really have true S-OFF with the HTCDEV method. The unlocked bootloader will allow you to flash custom images, such as boot.img, recovery.img, system.img, etc. but not radios like a true S-OFF bootloader does.
So the key is does your HBOOT screen still show UNLOCKED at the top? If so, then you can still boot into CWM recovery and flash another ROM.
And also it would be great if you used regular font sizes and colors...
since that was your first post, the heavens forgive you
but i need to look away cos my eyes hurt

can you get into hboot/fastboot? if you can then use the HTC Vivid All-In-One Toolkit to flash a recovery (cwm)
if that doesnt work the use the HTC Vivid All-In-One Toolkit to relock the bootloader (assuming its unlocked)
once bootloader is relocked flash the HTC AT&T Stock ICS RUU in order to flash the ruu you must first download it on a pc, make sure you have htc drivers-then run the ruu like you would any other pc program...it will walk you through the rest of the way...if for some reason you cant download the ruu from the link above, i got the link from here http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-vivid-att/software-updates
