CM10 eta expectations? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So what do you think guys when are we going to get first alphas?

The jump from ICS to Jelly Bean isn't as significant as Gingerbread to ICS. So I'd say a month

someone who knows things said (post in g+ by some cyanogenmod dude ) that code implementation is much easier than jump from GB to ICS. Most of the code is merged in a weekend or so, and after that alpha versions might start to appear. But yes..I'd say it takes close to month to have build that is close to daily runner.
But this just guessing..It's coming when it's coming

good points, but I bet on 2-3 more days

For our beloved SGS I9000, MKalter and his team are already working on a port. And I think they will have 90% of the features working in the next days They said they wont work on Call/SMS until sound is fixed. It's fixed since today, so i think they will now get it working and we all can start enjoying our JellyBeans *-*

[Q] Stick with the SGS or move to pastures new?

Considering what to do...
Will the SGS ever have a stable build of ICS? Why can't devs work from the Nexus S build and create a stable ROM?
If this isn't possible, should I simply bite the bullet and grab a Nexus S?
I don't know what your level for "stable" is but my SGS has never been so awesome since I decided to try the ICS builds that are in the developers section. Both onecosmic's and teamhacksung are just incredible ROMs, better then every gingerbread ones I tried so far. Of course there are promlems here and there but nothing that our experienced devs won't ever fix!
To me the problem isn't the Nexus S or the Galaxy S, now the problem is 4.0.3...
Of course the porting requires a lot of work to our devs while porting a brand new ROM to another device...
Just wait a little bit,
and devs will resolve most of the issues..!
I advice you SGS all you life, because it has AMOLED display.
Cheers

By stable, I mean, everything working, all the features the phone was shipped with.
The Nexus S is AMOLED too isn't it?
With Nexus S i mean this--> Nexus S...
I don't think has AMOLED diplay...
ICS on SGS by the way isn't stable devs are working in the porting.
I've got a colleague with this phone and he received about 1 month ago via official update on the phone ICS...
He tell me all the tima it still have some bugs on that!!
.......
yeah
were on the same page actually, but now i have decided to stick with my SGS, why? well said bec. it has super Amoled, and the firmware updates and ROMs that is growing fast <--there will come a time soon that developers will finally release a stable ICS for SGS..i guess..

It'll be ready in about 2 weeks........
LOoool!
I'd love for some android genius to finally figure it out. )... in two weeks of course...
First rule of Cyanogenmod - NEVER ASK FOR AN ETA.
Second rule of Cyanogenmod - NEVER ASK FOR AN ETA.
So, it's in the works. It'll be ready when someone's ready to make it so. Yes, I just said that like Picard.
Even with such a major flaw still cm9 as a daily driver and webos for skype seems to be the best solution, android 4.0 is amazing, drastically changed tablet experience.

AOSP rom for the Note

Are there any AOSP Gb roms for the Galaxy note? It would be nice to have at least 1 AOSP project for Gb without the Touchwiz crap. Luckily Ics has aosp rom now.

Unfortunately, no. Imilka had had built one and never posted it. He said he thought no-one would be interested. Then he suffered a HD failure, and GB AOSP was gone for good.
There really is no reason for a GB-AOSP rom.
There's plenty of ICS-AOSP Roms coming out, they're working forwards.
Making one at this stage would be like porting Windows Mobile 6.1 to the Nexus One, utterly pointless.
ics is @ its baby stage & may take time to be matured as GB is. So, would it not be prudent to invest some time on the GB AOSP??? Also since GB is @ its max heights...the last release of GB (LC/D 1, 2, 3 .....) would be a very good candidate for a stable one.

By all means, go ahead!
If the devs were interested, it would already exist.

LOL...
As the saying goes " If I could, I would. But I can't, so I won't!!!"
You are right that a fully-specced stable GB is better than any of the ICS-AOSP offerings we have have.
But to get to that stage it takes a lot of development and time. By the time it is developed, we would have ICS-AOSP at an acceptable stage. And later if we wanted to port the features from out pimped-GB ROM, they would be incompatible with our ICS-AOSP builds. We would've then pointlessly wasted all that effort.
You see we might have the TWizz build, but we don't have the source (!)
Sidenote: If we had the source, noone would be fiddling with Android. We would go straight to (native linux) alternatives like Mer or openSUSE-ARM.

Development on the Touchpad ? Where is it now

I use my touchpad regularly, ever since ICS came out on it, i havent seen anything new really. Whats the deal with the ICS ? has it progressed passed alpha 2.5, or the last update in march ? How is jelly bean coming along ?

ICS is pretty much over with, JB will be here two weeks tops. here's a video http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=17780840
Also this thread has nothing to do with anything you developed and is in the wrong forum.

It is a rolling 2 weeks...meaning at any point you ask, or even think about it, you can expect it to take 2 weeks from that point.

To put it politely Moghie, yes this is in the right forum, it is in the Q&A forum...
saadkhan07,
There is regular development and a healthy community developing for the HP Touchpad. Nightly builds are being built now, and are available through CyanogenMod's public page. You can also download goomanager and check on nightly releases that are available and download them. If you would like to keep track of the project through IRC, you can connect to freenode and join #cyanogenmod-touchpad; beware, it is a very lively room.
I dont know where the idea of "nothing new" is coming from. But there is plenty going on with the TouchPad. CM9 is being updated regularly with the nightlies. There are plenty of other ROMs. Jelly Bean has been proven to be in the works. And on the webOS side, webOS is in the process of going open source. This is a great device to own and its VERY MUCH supported.
Try owning a Droid X2. lol

[ROM] [p4wifi] [10/11/2012] CyanogenMod 10 Nightly Kangs

PREFACE:
THIS IS A COMPLETELY UNOFFICIAL KANG OF CYANOGENMOD 10. I DO NOT CLAIM THIS AS MY OWN ROM, I AM ONLY BUILDING IT.
IF YOU BRICK YOUR TABLET BY FLASHING THIS, I WILL CRINGE A LITTLE BIT, BUT STILL BE UNABLE TO HELP YOU. FLASH THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
ALL CREDIT GOES TO THE CYANOGENMOD TEAM AND PERSHOOT FOR HIS GALAXY TAB SPECIFIC STUFF.
Sorry for saying I was back, then disappearing again... I have a tough schedule now in college, and keeping up with this project got put aside, but now I think that things are under control!
Just like my CM9 builds, this is completely stock, NO cherry picks by me. All it is is pure, untouched, beautiful, tasty, jelly beany goodness served hot off of my processor and straight to your hungry tablet!
You can expect this to be built everyday by me, at varying times. (Generally sometime in the afternoon, but as I said: varying!) As I don't quite have the time to test every build, I'll be relying on you guys to report bugs so that I can list them here.
So far, NOT WORKING:
Nothing! (As in, as far as I can tell, everything works!)
I will not be including my own change log, but you can find the changes as they happen here on the CM Gerrit Review. I will only be including changes that are merged to the master source. Look at this post if you don't understand what that is, or don't know how to read it.
Remember, MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP of your ROM BEFORE you flash this, then WIPE DATA/CACHE, and I would recommend wiping the Dalvik cache as well! Then you can install the ROM, then flash the GAPPS package.
If you choose to dirty-flash -- or flash the ROM without wiping (this is generally OK but don't yell at me if it crashes a lot) -- you should still wipe the Dalvik cache. It takes two seconds and can save you plenty of headaches!
And finally, the moment you've all been waiting for:
ROM (09/04/2012) - http://d-h.st/XFV
GAPPS (10/11/2012) - http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
Also, I have a Rootz thread here (don't mean to plug a competitor, I just happen to use it more!) which I check more often than this, so if you're desperately trying to get a hold of me, try there!
Obviously, just for downloading this you become awesome, but if you'd like to become awesome-er, you can choose to donate to the CyanogenMod team for writing all of this beautiful code, or you can help me pay for a college education (I'm a freshman at Cleveland State University!) here! Any donation amount INSTANTLY makes you a SUPER COOL PERSON that I love!
DONATE TO ME!
Thank you very much... please bring some joy for 7500 owners too...

Yeah, I just noticed that the WiFi isn't working. I'm working on a fix right now, should be all better tomorrow if I can figure it out. Might have to use some old stuff from Pershoot.

Don't worry! I'm not gone or leaving you guys! I haven't been able to fix it yet, and Pershoot hasn't made any updates for the jellybean branch of the 10.1... I could build CM9 for you guys all day long, but that's boring (plus I'm sure someone else is already) and I'd rather work on CM10. I'm going to update as soon as I have a working build!

cm-10-20120916-UNOFFICIAL-p4wifi.zip

Just updated main post with working build! Flash away my friends!
again, what is the point of this (as i asked the other poster in the other thread)?
are you fixing bugs that have not been tackled yet? if so, have you sent pull requests for review to me?
if the answer to the above is no, and just merely building from sources i upload to github, this will cause mass confusion, as now there's random builds floating around all with different snapshots in time, and will surely deter proper testing.
if you want to help, please start working on the remaining bugs. this is a community effort and not a race to see who can get out builds faster.
thank you.
Any chance anyone could make it so smart glass is compatible please?
