Hai there. From some time im dealing with a fairly annoying issue that i can't seem to find help on google or out here. That calls for the new thread, right?
So, back to business, max of 2 weeks ago this happend to me, when you go to your messages, on the first step you have the list of all the messages you received and sent. Those with contacts will have their names, those without won't, but the thing is, that for some reason my phone is removing + from some of the message threads, instead of +353 (which is for the Ireland) im ending up with just 353. That causes message threads to loose their name (contact name) and unables me from sending txt messages to that contact/number. Yet, i can still recieve messages in that thread from the person who sent them. Ive tried deleting contact, saving it again, restarting phone etc, you know, the basic sunday fix things. Nothing has helped permanently. It just keep loosing the +. Im attatching screenshot to show you how it looks, but its fairly simple once explained. I hope that none of you have experienced it, but that some of you might know how to fix it.
Cheers!
edit: it appears that i cannot post images yet, pitty...

Guys!
when i send a msg to someone, very very often instead of sending 1sms it sends several, ranging from 2 to 6 even.
so heres the story:
1. write sms to a friend. = 1 sms less than 160char
2. send sms to friend
3. receive delivery report, or even if option is off, no matter.
4. get a reply from my friend that i sent him the msg several times.
- this is not isolated case, this has happened with numerous numerous numbers. from different networks and different numbers etc. so theres a problem i think. whats wrong?
Yes only recently I've been Having thois problem with my XDA2i
Happens if I shut down Messagin before its sent as it seems to send it but doesn't remove from the outbox and then sends again when I open messaging again.
no non o, i do close messaging always. but its like if you just choose also: NEW -> message from the today screen. but itheres no msg in outbox, and i get that it sent msg. and get delivery also.
mayb idnt understand ur story 2 well?
I have the same problem
I have the exact same problem. I think three is the maximum number of times I have seen it sent. My phone only shows it once in the outbox and, if I remember correctly, shows only the time I actually sent the message - not the time(s) of the repeat(s). The repeated message may go out many hours after the actual send. This has been happening for a year or more.
Sorry I don't have any ideas why it happens.
yeah yeah yeah. you're right. i had once 7 msgs sent to my sister over a period of 8 or more hours even the next morning when she woke up she got a msg at like 7am from me same old thing damn you know. can get confusing at times. no solutions?
i sent a multiple msg to about 10 people on my bill appeared that i sent around 70 msgs
holy sh**. darn that aint good at all. that really really aint good at all. talk bout a money spendin scam ok. no we need big big help on sb to help us out 2 that. but no1 has ideas i guess:/ hopefully this topic wont die and sb will b able2save us.
I had the same problem, i think it was caused by task managers, it only seemed to happen when i had either vbar or spb installed. I don't use a task manager now and i don't have the problem.
Yes, YOu're not alone guys me too have the same problem here.....
does anyone know how to fix the double SMS problem in O2 XDA IIi ?
everytime I send SMS, it will re send again, so the recipient always received two or more same SMS from me. :-( this is very annoying.
you know - ppl think i'm an idiot or smth and continuously keep sending me replies "no need to send it twice" and so on yeah....aint the brightest side o life. but i think what i read smwhere else is true - if i just dont close the messaging window until it sends then it should b ok i think. bnut thats still not a solution...
I flashed my phone to the stock WM6.1 firmware when it came out a couple weeks ago. Everything seemed fine. Then, one day last week, I received a text message from a friend. The next morning, after doing absolutely nothing to my phone other than plugging it into a charger, everything on my phone relating to text messaging disappeared. All the "settings" functions related to SMS are gone. All the ringtone settings related to SMS are gone. There is still a "messaging" option on my start menu, but selecting it does nothing. The menu disappears as though something was selected, but nothing ever happens. I had friends send me text messages, but I never get them.
Similarly, I have no more options on my phone relating to set up email. That's less important to me, but might be related to the problem. I'm really hoping not to have to hard reset my phone, because it took me nearly a month to get it set up the way it is. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? Am I missing files?
I have the same problem. I found out it has something to do with the memory card. check out this thread it seems to have fixed my problem.

About a week ago I hit delete and let it do its work over night since it was going to take forever.
First off, my Tilt only deleted the messages in the inbox, not the outbox. Then a few days later I reset my phone to check something, then ALL my text messages were back, and all of the texts that I've sent/gotten in between were gone.
Is there a certain way I'm suppose to delete this stuff?
I don't know how that happened, and I cannot think of any kind of special procedure to deleting SMS messages. What happens if you just delete like 10 at a time? Does that work?
Dave
Well the thing about that, I have over 20,000 text messages stored on my phone hah.. So doing 10 at a time would just take wayyy too long.
Whenever I hit my soft reset button, all my text messages from that day to a couple days before are gone. It's kinda weird and I don't quite understand it. But yeah, I'm just trying to figure out a way where I can delete them all to where they won't come back hah. Who ever thought it'd be so hard.
Has anyone else ever had this problem?
I can't view MMS messages now because it tells me to clear more space. I've deleted several large size mms messages off of my phone, on top of a grip of text messages to clear space, but it hasn't cleared anything. How can I fix this?
Hard-Reset
I had the same problem on my T-Mobile MDA...never did figure it out. But whenever I deleted them, they always came back. I haven't tried deleting all my texts on the Tilt yet.

I think unpredictable things start to happen when you have upwards of 20000 messages.
The other week my phone crashed and i had to hard reset it because it was carrying 47000 SMS messages, i think the problem i had was the SMS datbase corrupted when i as attempting to delete my biggest thread, with well over 6 months of messages in it.
So yeah, backup your messages if you want them and hard reset, and id try to not let messages get higer than 15000, just so the phone has space to breathe
I have the same problem with msgs that return mysteriously on my ATT tilt running the factory (att) default rom. The first time I tried it I had around 5000 msgs and I ended up having to hard reset. Right now I have around 15,000 msgs and still have the same problem (obviously haha). I'm probably gonna upgrade my rom anyway, but I just figured I'd let you know you're not the only one (and not crazy haha).

I have had the HTC touch diamond for a few months. For the most part I have liked it but now I am having problems. I get freezes like alot of people have reported but it's nothing consistent just a annoyance that you have to remove the battery just to make everything work again.
Recently I couldn't use the phone, network was having problems so I thought. Called Sprint and they said the tower in my area(only 1) wasn't at 100% so they said that could be my problem. Couldn't send or recieve calls or text. They changed my msid and also said I could try updating my rom. I had 1.09, now I have 2.00.
My main problems has to do with texting and settings for texts not being saved. When I have a open conversation and a text comes in, it keeps saying that I have a text to read but I don't(I have already received the txt during the conversation). Only way to stop that is to click on the persons name/number or leave the conversation an use the up and down arrows to find the latest text then it stops saying I have a text. Before the 2.00 update, all I had to do was txt the person abck and the message would go away(meaning I had read the txt) or just leave the conversation.
I cannot get any settings to stay saved. I keep getting like auto correct, suggestion for words and capitalization for first letter. I have them turned off but they keep happening. It's extremely annoying and don't want or need any suggestions. Half the time it's not even giving me the right word and sometimes I have to type the word, delete it then retype the word for it to just be accepted. I am also getting slight pauses/freezes when I text. Most of these problems I believe are caused by the 2.00 rom update. I did not notice most of these except for the settings not being saved. I believe that has always been a problem.
I have tried a hard reset but that didn't fix anything. I thought it would give me back the 1.09 rom but it didn't. No matter what I do, I still have 2.00. So If I am stuck with it, I would liek to know if anyone can help with these problems.
The time isn't always right. Sometimes it says I sent my text an hour before or an hour later and i get texts the same way. It's just random, nothing consistent.
90 views but no replies. Can anyone help?
Sorry to hear that no one is helping you. I been looking around and can't find a viable solution for you.
Apparently with HTC's website, it's better not to downgrade your ROM. So if you want to keep your guarantees or waranty with the phone, take it back to Sprint and they should be able to help. Or contact HTC directly.
I think that will be the best thing to do as no one here suffers the same problem as you. Hence for the no feedback.
Good luck!
Hey guys, so today I decided to backup my texts and once I did that I started to delete messages from my phone (as I normally do without any problems). I know it can take literally forever for just one convo to delete especially if you have over TONS of messages, so i waited and waited for the 'deleting messages' box to disappear.
I left my phone doing it's thing whilst ocassiaonlly using the phone at the same time, obviously I didn't do anything in texts, but when I went back on messaging I noticed it was gone, so I tapped on messaging again only to find the 'opening conversation' to appear and its been stuck like that for ages, therefore I cannot access any of my texts yet..
Any advice on what to do? Is it really still opening conversations? (it's been about 15mins probably!) and I have no idea if it deleted one of my convo's fully.. Is it safe to turn the phone off & then back on perhaps? I don't want to risk losing anything...
Hope it all makes sense. Thanks!
EDIT: nevermind sorry, it literally just stopped with the opening conversation message and back up. My convo I tried to delete is still there though, so will try again and not touch anything this time! Sorry, please remove this thread if you wish!

Appreciate the response, but I thought I would ask to see if other people had the same experience and therefore can share the right way forward?

Oh my days, it's now probably been about 2 hours since I started deleting and its STILL doing it - is it supposed to take THIS long?
I had my phone showing messages from another conversation/recipient a few days ago. In this case, all alerts from my train operator about delays were showing as being sent from my wife.
Killing the task and reloading messaging seemed to fix it, but it now has me worried that such problems might one day see me getting corruption errors, although I don't really have any texts I couldn't afford to lose.
