Escalation Advice - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I have now an unrooted bone stock Vivid on AT&T. I did have root and different roms but return it to stock to replace it.
For my job I travel the upper Midwest and experience a lot of edge coverage. Well as many know the Vivid can crash and reboot when toggling to get back to "4G". AT&T has told me to deal with it or go to HTC.
Who can I escalte this issue to get the phone replaced or move to another model? Account escaltion and threatening cancellation isn't doing anything.
Thanks for the help.

I had this issue with the Atrix 2 and never found a solution. One customer service rep advised to try a new sim card. They are free to exchange at any corporate owned ATT store.

Same issue here but I've watched the bars dissapear, go to the ! EmUse only icon, and then come back. Seems to be sporadic though as the phones been fine for the past few weeks. Figured it was just a bug or an issue with the towers around here.

[Q] San Jose, CA: HTC ONE, no LTE at LTE tower and loss of BT audio

Good evening,
I'm an Ericsson(Sprint) tech (Since 2000) in the San Francisco Bay Area.
My phone is unlocked (Via HTC unlock), had TWRP 2.5.0.0 installed, and is running stock other than that. Rooted with SuperSU
I recently got an HTC ONE and found two odd things:
1. After flashing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251788 , and Power Toggles from the Play store, my Bluetooth audio would go away. The call still connects to the BT headset, but no audio. A stock rom re-flash takes care of that issue 100%. Semi-noob lesson learned, back up BEFORE trying new mods.
2. This phone will not connect to 4G LTE. (more detail to come)
I have tried all the obvious choices: Reflash/Reset, make sure CMDA/LTE mode is set, even changed my LTE Next Timer to 5 from 300 in the ##DATA# screen. I even called employee care and verified that my UICC ID is properly set on the account.
Of course, the local store employees have no idea what to tell me.
I exchanged that brand-new HTC ONE for another brand new handset yesterday. It exhibits the very same exact issues.
This morning on the drive to work, it briefly connected to 4G LTE for a speedtest and I haven't seen LTE since.
For those of you who will say "Yes, but you're in a pre-launch market." I hear you. My response to that is that I physically work on the NV sites. I can take a cabinet key and open the cell site up to verify operation. I am testing this standing UNDER or a few feet away from a NV site running 1900mhz LTE, and my company-issued test LTE phone (different model) is picking up LTE no problem. In fact, I'm so close my download speeds are approaching 30mbps.
I've been lurking here for a while but wanted to see what the community thinks. Did I get TWO faulty handsets, or is there something I'm missing? I still have 1.5 weeks to exchange for yet another handset if I need to.
Thanks in advance for your time.
Disclaimer, these are my own opinions, and not those of Ericsson or Sprint in any way.
I'm pretty sure BT audio is a known issue in most custom ROMs.
Look up "Force LTE" in the Sprint forums. See if that changes anything. (You might have already done this, though)
EDIT: Dial *#*#4636#*#* and change it to LTE only and if that works, LTE + CDMA. If that works, try CDMA/EVDO/LTE (default).
BTW: Where is said tower in San Jose? I live there (here?) and I rarely get LTE signals (but I do).

Forcing LTE only didn't seem to help.
Here's my plan for tomorrow:
1. Drive to official LTE launch market
2. Test for LTE connection with phone as-is
3. If LTE=YES, happy camper
4. If LTE=NO, run the RUU to flash everything back stock (I know I shouldn't need this, but I'm grasping at straws here)
5. Test for LTE after RUU is complete.
6. If LTE=YES, happy camper
7. If LTE=NO, exchange for a black Sprint HTC ONE (Have Silver now). Maybe there's a bad few in a row.
I'll post tomorrow with results.
Also, to be clear, I'm NOT on a custom ROM. I'm on the Stock Sprint ROM, just unlocked and rooted.
I have had better luck with setting my network mode to automatic instead of cdma/lte ... I live In the Fremont area I see tons of areas light up with LTE now ..
But once I get to my house or my shop for work I have nothing lol.

There are a lot of people working really hard to get launched. Glad you're seeing some of that paying off.
I've been going into panic mode with my personal HTC One. I had a horrible experience directly with Samsung on my Galaxy SII. I was hoping to just pick this up and see the heavens open and the light shine down lol.
That hasn't been my experience thus far I'm jealous of all of you happy modders going crazy on this beautiful device. I hope to join you soon

Well, here's my results:
1. Drive to official LTE launch market DONE
2. Test for LTE connection with phone as-is NO LTE NEXT TO TOWER IN LAUNCHED MARKET
3. If LTE=YES, happy camper NOT A HAPPY CAMPER
4. If LTE=NO, run the RUU to flash everything back stock (I know I shouldn't need this, but I'm grasping at straws here) FLASHED
5. Test for LTE after RUU is complete. NO LTE
6. If LTE=YES, happy camper NOT A HAPPY CAMPER
7. If LTE=NO, exchange for a black Sprint HTC ONE (Have Silver now). Maybe there's a bad few in a row. CALLING TO EXCHANGE NOW
So frustrating. It worked for one connection the morning I got it and then nothing.
Maybe I'll ask for a black ONE just in the hopes that it came from a different production run.
I really want to like this phone, its beautiful. But this will now be my third brand-new handset.

>Getting my climbing gear out now< LOL
Black ONE is on the way.
Should I just leave the bootloader saying "Re-locked" or go through the dance to get it back to saying "locked?"
I sent the first dud back "Re-locked" as the guys in the store didn't seem to care at all. I guess it's probably no big deal.
I have done very minimal identical items to both phones:
1. Unlock via HTC /Fastboot
2. Install TWRP 2.5 into Recovery via Fastboot
3. Install SuperSU by following the prompts from TWRP 2.5
4. Installed the 3-button mod here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251788 via TWRP 2.5
5. Installed "Power Toggles" from the Google Play store. (After this step on each phone, Bluetooth would connect, but no audio. I also never saw LTE work again)
6. Reflashed the official RUU after things aren't working.
You guys are all pro modders, is there any step here that would stand out to you as potentially damaging to getting 4G LTE or maybe hurting the radio file somehow? I see everyone having a field day modding and flashing custom ROMs, now I'm scared to do even the basics for fear that somethings going on behind the scenes.
I've got to go do some actual work now. I'll post an update when the Black ONE comes in.
I have had the same problem of LTE not connecting anywhere. I have done the same things as you, including installing power toggles. If I remember correctly, I believe my LTE quit working after installing it as well. I find it hard to believe that the power toggles app could be the culprit, but it's a possibility I guess.

Hmm...weird. Before and after I rooted my phone and installed TWRP 2.5 with Super SU and left my phone "as-is" I fortunately have always had LTE in the downtown Hayward area.
I've been able to flash custom roms and not really have any issues other than those related to the Rom itself. Hopefully you really did just have bad luck...maybe buy a lottery ticket? Lol.
Good luck with your next One!
Hope it works out for you!

The only thing that doesn't sit right with me is that after I run the RUU to restore everything, you'd think the issue would be fixed right?
Well look at this everyone...does this sound familiar?
From: http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...scuss-All-Related-Questions-Here-ONLY/page509
"UPDATE: awww, one of those 2g/3g toggle widgets permanetly turned off the LTE radio. Yesterday I could see LTE from Tmo, ATT, Cricket, and MetroPCS. Today all LTE options are gone. When I go into *#*#4636#*#* I can re-select LTE/GSM/WCDMA as a preferred network, but when manually searching for network the phone still can't see any LTE. Power cycling the phone, the field goes back to "GSM auto (PRL)", does anyone know how to make the preferred network stick with LTE without changing back in this hidden menu? What should be in this preferred network blank? and how do you make it stick? anyone?"

Yeah you would think so. I have ran the RUU on 2 seperate occasions just to make sure and still no LTE. I will probably just end up trying to exchange it for another one and hope the new one holds up better.

Now we just need one more brave soul to test power toggles to see if it really is a problem. If it is, contact the dev and tell 'em to declare it incompatible with this device!

I agree. If this app is causing this kind if an issue with the One, we need to verify and make sure that nobody else installs it. Maybe someone has a One that they are about to exchange for a different issue would be willing to test this theory for us.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
I don't know about the 2G/3G facet of it (simply because it's never been noted as compatible with my device in Power Toggles), but I've used this app for a long time and I pull LTE quite comfortably.
Update: called Sprint about the issue and they notified my local Sprint store that when I brought my phone in, they were to exchange it for a new One (not refurbished) at no cost. They were out of stock and I should be receiveing it Saturday or Monday

Getting HTC one.. Sprint or Tmo

Not sure if this should go here or not.. But I've been watching the One since it was announced.
And I'm currently on the old $30/month plan from Tmo with an HTC Amaze..
Unfortunately I to get the one from Tmo the require $379 down which is a lot of money at once and will also up my bill to $70
But I also have the option to get one someones Sprint plan and get a One for $99...
But just looking thought the forum, its looking like the GSM One is getting better Dev support
Along with Google ports.
An another possible problem that comes to mind... is CDMA..
I was on sprint awhile ago and Had a HTC Hero and the battery drain was HORRIBLE compared to the my Magic. Not sure if that is still an issue with the new LTE stuff...
But yeah, my real question is, should I go for the Sprint One or hold out a bit and get the Tmo One?

To my knowledge, you're not going to have a significant battery difference between CDMA and GSM. Updates will almost always be slower for us in the Sprint world because GSM variants tend to be more common worldwide, but the devs here work plenty hard. I'd check the forum though yourself to see if there're any ROMs you actually like the look of instead of taking someone else's word on how "good" dev is.
Price-wise, you might be better off going prepaid on T-Mobile, but then you'd need an unlocked GSM One, and that's dicey stuff.
Tmo is the way to go imho. I thought about getting the one when I got my nexus....it's about the only phone I'd consider other than my nexus. I chose the nexus because of the bang for your buck factor and dev support. I'm happy with my choice but I still love the one! Really a beautiful phone, with the guts to match....good luck

Yeah, go Tmo. Once you go CDMA, you shall never escape...
T mobile if you can afford it.
You can fully convert it to GPe or dev unlocked edition. It gets more support.
I read somewhere that only Sprint has working Google Wallet, though.
Coverage wise, it depends. Tmo is fantastic here (at least, the HSPA was), but Sprint doesn't even cover some of the places it says has "Good/better 3g".
As someone above said, you should check out the prepaid plans. It might be cheaper/better in the long run if you buy unlocked and just put in a prepaid card. Even if you will go over the data/minutes, the overages may still be cheaper than a contract.
http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-plans Check out the $30 one at the bottom. Only 100 mins, but 5GB data.

Tmo base everything off of your credit check when they run it. For example, my cousin was told he he had to put down $500 and I was told $100.
However I chooses to come back to Sprint because I think they have good things coming ahead and plus Tmo service here where I live is little to nonexistent

I'm on the $30 plan right now. But to finance a phone for me its 3xx down and sixty something a month.
And those 100 minutes burn up FAST.
In the long run sprint is actually going to be cheaper because I'm getting on an existing plan for 20-30 a month for unlimited everything.
But I'm still not sure I want to go CDMA...
I live in Columbus so coverage for both sprint and tmo is great..

[Q] Switch Sprint HTC One to MetroPCS?

I'm not sure if I'm in the right section for this or not but anyways, I have an HTC One from Sprint and I stopped paying the bill. (I'm aware this is bad for your credit.) I'm wondering if it's possible to switch it over to MetroPCS or some other prepaid carrier. If there is any way to do so I would really appreciate the feedback.
I think you're SOL until you square up with Sprint.

Read my reply to your other post.....
Pay your bill
1. Decide which prepaid is best for you...example boost unlimited or metro pcs see which has better coverage in your area..
2.Find out who can do the flash for you call around several places see whos most experienced
3.Get a donar phone once you decided on a carrier boost/incognito metro/??? with the account on the phone.
4.Get your phone flashed
5.save money..
pay your bill or you wont have any phone service....!!!
Flash it to Page Plus, Its verizon towers and coverage without the crazy bill, I have a full guide here:

[Q] KitKat update breaks LTE on Sprint Flex??

Ok,
So I've searched through this entire QA section and have yet to find a thread related to my question so I'm going to ask.
I recently (as in like monday 05/05/14) updated to KitKat on my Sprint Flex and noticed that my LTE wont kick on...I update my profile and PRL and it will kick on for a split second go grey (gray?) and then go back to 3G. I'm curious, has anyone else encountered this issue or could this be a simple single issue I'm the only on experiencing?
mind you, YES I do live in an LTE enabled area (no Spark ) and my old HTC EVO 4G LTE gets service just fine as does my wife's EVO LTE but my Flex just wont kick it on anymore. I even tried resetting the radio with no luck. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be very appreciative!
Other than this little hiccup, along with the KB issue, this phone is saweet!
How was your service before the kit kat update? FYI you should head over to the S4GRU forums. You will find better sprint support there. Its not a corporate sprint site, its a community of sprint customers that have lots of knowledge of the network.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I'm convinced that Sprint doesn't want people on their LTE network. They recently started throttling their unlimited customers data once they use over 5Gb. I used a Sprint phone for a short period of time before our company switched to AT&T, and that phone would disconnect from the tower it was using whenever the phone would go idle. I would try to use the internet and it would say "no connection", but the second I made a phone call on it the connection would re-establish. It's all very strange.

I left Sprint last year for identical reasons. As T-Mobile was the only other carrier to offer unlimited data without hidden throttle points. I had to pay the eta but it was well worth it. Sprint may be better out in the sticks because they have roaming agreements with Verizon but if you live in an urban area you will be ok.
My 4G LTE was badass before the update to KK. I'm very familiar with S4GRU forums. My service has always been great with Sprint, so that's not the issue, I was simply curious if this is simply an isolated incident or if this is becoming a known issue..I'm content with Sprint. I'll have to look at the other forums to see if I'm the only one having issues..

I had an issue when at my home recently with service. Since the g flex will not connect to data when on a phone call, i noticed that my service would go to nothing or 1 bar. I contacted sprint, and they told me that the 3g portion of the tower was out that i connect to when at home. They said it would be fixed by the end of the day. My advice is to contact sprint. Maybe they can shed some light on the subject. Try to contact them through the chat on the website. They seem more knowledgeable on there.

OK.
so after I posted this thread i started checking the towers around me and found out i was not the only person reporting issues about this. apparently sprint is secretly updating the towers in Amarillo for spark. this didnt come from some idiot rep at the call center either, this i found out on my own. I verified it this morning and some areas in town my little sun lights up and my speeds are ranging from 15-25mb/s depending on the area of town im in.
I also got a phone call from a friend of mine in Austin because his iFag 5s wasnt able to connect to the interwebs even though he showed LTE to be active. they appear to be updating towers continuously in certina areas. thanks for the info on some of ya'lls part! i guess i just wasnt patient enough and jumped to the conclusion of KK breakin something in my phone.
