My quadrant score on my rooted stock V20q LG P990 is 1683, when it should be way higher. I've noticed it running sluggishly in general after being powered on for more than a day, and it's really snappy when I've just rebooted. Apps work perfectly all the time. Do you have any idea what the problem is?

When installing a new ROM, will my apps/settings/launcher be saved, or will they be wiped and i'll have to restore from backup? I've done the nandroid backup and the titanium backup. I also have a custom camera kernel, will that have to be reinstalled as well?
Also, I can't seem to find links to the ROM you mentioned...
Just search Django Manouche's ROM on this forum. Sorry but I am too lazy to link it with my phone.

mate,
it is suggested to make a complete wipe...wipe of user data, cache and dalvik...means a clean flash....so make a backup with TB and restore after the flash....
for the ROM you have to go to XDA Server and there you will find the DJ1.5RC1 and just put it in ur Ext SD card preferably, then wipe and then flash...configure after that...
you will see the magic then...got it?
ENJOY

I'm also running DM 1.5 RC2 and I've ran quadrant, and noticed a very low ~1700 score, while with stock ROM I've used to get about 2300. With Nova HD, I've got even more.

first the DJ is not RC2...still not in the planet except in Carburano's device maybe
second...it is never the score mate...it is about the feeling, the satisfaction and the goodness factor...who is going to see your score when you operate
third....ICS in the start has high scores and then starts sometimes to lag but there are several reports that it is still not very stable, some random reboots, thanks to LG H/W acc is not there ...so a few things missing....
SO ITS YOUR CHOICE and FEEL....

Ok, I am a total noob and I only understand about half of what I have read, but I am addicted to this stuff. I have a hero with the latest sprint release (2.1) and then I rooted (thanks to Regaw) it and loaded a non OC'd version of Aloysius 2.1 and then moved to the PureHero 2.1.
However, I cannot run ANY overclocked ROM's, not one. I have tried other builds and other dev's and it just boot loops. I have the kernel for OC'ing, but it just won't boot when an OC'd ROM is flashed.
Am I out of luck with this device?
Thanks!

Figures. I want to try out a few other ROM's and can't. Figures.....oh well, at least Aloyisus 2.1 is a great ROM.
Edit: Weird thing happened, I flashed Blue Echo and got to it's boot screen, but then it boot looped.
Hey just wanted to update, thanks to D3fault and this link, I was able to OC my phone. I am running 710 on Aloysius 2.1 snow (768 froze my phone, thank heaven for Nandroid) via the OC widget on the market. My LWP is faster and my phone loads pages FAST. One thing though, I still cannot download OC'd ROM's.
Anyone have another suggestion?

Yes, place on SD and flash. Once I did that I was able to grab the OC widget from the market and run aloysius 2.1 at 710. Makes a pretty significant difference BTW. Here is a link, http://forum.androidcentral.com/162759-post49.html
Ok so I've noticed a few things. 2.1 stock ran better than stock 2.2 on my phone. So I'm wondering if there are any 2.1 custom roms anywhere? Just to test,I'm running continuum v4. Its great but I've tweaked so much that I feel I need to take all precautions and charge 100% and flash back to stock and the charge 100% before flashing another rom. Any advice?

define "ran better"
You are kidding, right?
no.. seriously noone knows what you consider better..
battery? speed? features? lag? modem speed? call quality?
oh snap!
how long did you run stock before upgrading?
how long have you been using 2.2?
have you tried any other roms than the 1 you are using now?
are you running antivirus? or task managers with 2.2? (LOL that would do it.) WASTE!
Ok I ran 2.1 stick for about 3 weeks and 2.2 stock for about 2 weeks. No antivirus,no lookout or app killer. The roms here run much better,I was speaking as far as stock goes. The thing is that I have tweaked and feel like I've flashed "dirt" so many times (with less than 50% battery every time and never return rom stock) and I fee like its slowly bogging down. As far as 2.1 vs 2.2 stock,I felt like 2.1 multitasked quicker, and easier. And it did everything I wanted with no lag. 2.2 wasn't bad but waking the phone up always took a second to warm up and get going and would lag if I ran Facebook,Gmail, browser and messaging at the same time. I know that's alot but 2.1 stock, handled it. For me anyways. Buy different users get different results I reckon

I think you might wanna try out phoenix ultimate JS7, supernova JS7, FireFly roms and i'm sure it would cure all your problem. it's fast, really smooth, and really stable. the support is awesome so if you run into any problems you can get things figured out relatively fast.

Just the usual, back up, flash to stock, master clear, charge battery to 100 re download the rom to make sure your copy didn't get corrupted somehow, once you are ready to flash, In cwm wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, go into advanced and wipe dalvik cache, then flash rom. That is the cleanest flash possible.q
way to over complicate!
tibu backup
flash new rom in CWM (all good roms do a wipe NOW, going to stock is pointless!)
tibu restore!

I agree its way over complicated, I dont do it that way myself, he wanted the way to get the "cleanest flash" and the way you mentioned always comes with the disclaimer that if you have problems go back to stock. Usually a simple wipe or reflash would fix the problem but a complicated process like that gives a placebo effect also
I too just wipe cache partition and dalvik cache and flash over, but if you want just a little more super duper clean I go into mounts and storage and wipe every thing but the boot and sd. When I do the verbage actually says formatting not wipe. Who knows it, it could just be a placebo but I haven't had any problems yet.
Samsung SGH I897 Andromeda3 powered, fueled with win
will have to say,i tried clearing cache, going into advanced in recovery and formatting things. but after flashing back to stock and charging battery before doing anything, seemed to help. im back on continuum and its running better than i thought it was when i first flashed it..and,after playing with 2.1 stock today before rooting/flashing rom,i not withdraw my comment about it running better than 2.2 lol. i dont know what it was when i first got it but it seemed to run better.oh well,im satisfied
Hey I have just joined xda, Although I have browsed through the optimus 2x section of this forum many times before. I am just looking for some things that I can do to my optimus 2x that can speed up its performance all around. I have considered overclocking , I previously installed cm7 and tried installing a new rom and had bricked my phone, luckily I had found the original fido canada os files online and reset the phone myself.
Obviously my phone is already rooted, I have removed some of the pre-loaded apps that run all the time and waste memory and battery. My optimus consistantly runs between 2450 and 2511 on quadrant.
Any advice would be apreciated! thanks.

Don't rely on scores bro, use V6 supercharger script if you wish to see speed
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA
Quadrant scores should only be 20% of your basis for speed, a test drive is still more reliable.
I am concerned if you still felt that CM7 was slow though. A stock CM7 (coming from a full system wipe) should be quite snappy.

I looked at Owain's cm9 kang build, the bugs were the only thing that made me think twice about it, as long as I have a good backup so if something gets messed up I don't want to spend hours fixing it again. Are there any builds that have less bugs ?

When I installed cm7 I rebooted my phone and it got stuck at the LG loading screen, so I did a factory reset. I have never had cm7 working on my phone before. If you could provide me with some good instructions, and what things to install. I would love to try to do it again as long as I know I'm doing so properly. Thanks.

What you say is a bit puzzling for me. Doing a factory reset will not "uninstall" CM7, so I think you never had CM7 installed to begin with.
First things first. What's your Android version right now, is your device rooted, do you have ClockWorkMod Recovery installed, which version?

I have android version 2.2.2 . My device is rooted. And i no longer have clock work recovery installed.
Okay so I guess if I were you I would start by getting Titanium Backup and backing up the most important apps.
Then install ROM Manager app and install CWM. Then update that to rusty's 5.0.2.7 version. Boot into it, do a full nandroid backup so you don't have nothing to worry about if anything goes wrong. Do a dalvik cache wipe and a full factory reset. Get temasek's latest kang and flash it, easy
Temaseks Kang.
Enough said. It is fantastic.

The steps here are pretty straightforward, you can follow these:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/install-cyanogenmod-7-1-rc1-rom-on-lg-optimus-2x/
It's a bit old though.
I'd recommend:
CWM 5028
CM7.2 RC kang
Gapps for 2.3.7
(All from Temasek's mediafire folder.)
thanks , looks pretty strait forward.
I have just downloaded cwm 5028 , temasek's cm7.2 as well as Gapps. Will procede with the flashing of all of these tomorrow. Any more advice on things i should make sure to do regarding this would be good! I will do a nandroid backup before hand.

Did you do the Titanium Backup thing? TB is an app worth buying (~4$), it backs up all your apps and the apps' data so you dont have to get all of them back after a full wipe. If you want to you can use SMS Backup + to Backup SMS-conversations and call logs.
For a fresh start I would nullify my device with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1555404 or manually format cache, system and data at least once.
Hey guys, please only answer and keep reading if you are willing to help at a 100% rate. Don't need trolls here, but people who can actually help!
I want to reinstall my Stock ROM. I've been using Stock GB 2.3.5 since start, with Root, then I added CF Root b84 Fix. But its getting kinda laggy(I only have like 7 pages of apps, somewhere about 100+ new installed apps). But they are apps that only run after they are called, not background Apps.
So I was woundering if a clean reinstall would help my phone?
EDIT: Runnning Stock ROM 2.3.5 - Samsung Galaxy Ace.
Or should I update to a new version of GB?
------------
If I need to update to a newer stock ROM, how do I do it?
------------
If I don't need, how do I reinstall?
------------
Either ways, what's the best backup I could do in such a case? Use Titanium and back it all up? But I got a question, If i back it all up and restore it, won't it be impossible to recover everything, since i got Link2SD and memory is big because of that? If I put everything back it will say too small size. How will I arrange with that?
Thanks whoever answer all my questions!

Also, isn't CM7 more RAM eating and more battery draining? That's what people saying..
And again, that doesn't answers my questions ;p I want to remain on stock. Just dunno if I should update to 2.3.6 and HOW do I do it. AKA its on my questions above.

To clear your misconception,Free RAM has nothing to do with your device being laggy(Though reduces multitasking).Unless whole 278 MB ram is being used,no lags.2nd,Free ram is wasted ram.3rd,read sticky.Lots of guides are stickied which tell you how to use ODIN,Root,Flash and all this stuff.4th,yes a clean install of ROM will help.Try stocklite, completely stock.Or i suggest you to flash DDKQ8 but if you are paranoid about RAM consumption, then I should tell you even with no apps installed,200+ MB ram is used in.this firmware.

OT? xD Whats that.
Well, I know there's guides, but guiding, doesn't explain. I mean, a guide tell you, do this and that, but doesn't explains what your doing, or what is gonna be the result. Like with Link2SD, what gonna happen if I backup? If my phone is laggy, a backup from CWM will keep him laggy too... The lag from what i'm having is when I unlock my phone, the slide to unlock is laggy sometimes, and if you unlock it laggy, the phone will stay laggy for a while. People say its because of deep sleep(made a thread about it), but phones takes some time to go to deep sleep, and this is not the case.
So I have no idea what is DDKQ8, im no programmer or knower about those stuff. What are advantages, or what does DDKQ8 means..

OT is off topic thread.anyways DDKQ8 is baseband version.I recommend you do a factory reset and install the apps fresh.Dont restore data using Titanium backup or CWM.
Newer version of link2SD has relink option, which cross checks apps installed on your SD-ext partition, made for those rom changes. Otherwise, restore backup with titanium and link again.
Also, with 100+ apps lag is normal, if installed on SD card a higher class SD card helps.
To stop the lag when you turn the screen on,
Go to cyanogenmod settings>performance>CPU settings or download setCPU
Then change the minimum frequency to 245

In terms of cameras, just search for one on the Play store. There should be thousands. However, can you please link to the ROM you used? AFAIK none of the current ICS ROMs have this issue, so you might have an outdated ROM. I also don't know whether Dorimanx ever released a full HWA kernel compatible with ICS, so please check that you've got the right one installed.

Well, i thought i found the perfect one, lol, thanks for the information,
And which ICS Rom do you suggesst? Ive tried nexusHD i didnt like it because its internal storage was very low, i think its just on my phone so,
Is nexusHD2 the best ICS for HD2 out there?
i think i will have to look out for some new roms..
I personally use NexusHD2, but I'm going to change soon to a JB ROM (hopefully). For internal storage you can just flash an A2SD script or install Link2SD. However, I would encourage you to try ROMs yourself and find the best one for you. What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another person.

I think that rom is leading the JB roms out for mHD2 yet....
