I've been able to root my VZW SGT with Odin because Kies was not working. Now that it's has SU and CWM it is awesome. But now for some reason It won't back up anything. Here is a short list of what's going on:
Not Backing Up
3G keeps cutting off
Freezes when trying to flash a rom(any rom)
I don't know what to do. The SU works fine but CWM I'm using is v5.0.0.8 but it says CR is 5.0.2.7 and what phone model should I put I have the option of Epic 4G or SG S i9000.
Nobody has any info on this?? Should I unroot it and but the stock vzw setup then re-root?

Somehow while Rooting and Updating I lost all 3g service on my Verizon Tab. This is a replacement Tabe sent to me by Verizon. When I tried to restore the info from my prior Tab this one came up "No Service" I tried going back to stock, all the previous backups still on my SD card. Nothing works. Anyone know what I need to do to get the 3g back......
Oh ya
The baseband version is unknown
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955342
You need these I had a similar situation, but these are all the files you need including the modem for 3g
I followed those instructions when I tried to go back to stock. Do I just need to add the modem file in the modem spot in Heimdal or do I need to put all the original file back as well?
i did a complete reload when i did mine using heimdall
Hold down power and volume down to get into download mode.
factoryfs.rfs in factoryFS
zimage in Kernel(zimage) and recovery
this is important read carefully before selecting
there are 2 param. files you want the param. lfs it goes in param.lfs slot
cache in cache
and modem in modem
Those are the only files you will need. It worked from me I have been working on themeing the tab using the deodexed roms posted in development so i have really got stuck before and these have saved me everytime. Hoping to post and accurate battery mod ported from sbrissen over on the fasc forum he has been helping me on it and i think i have a stable version
hope this helps
chris
No luck, tried flashing the files twice no change. Still no 3g and the baseband still says unknown.
you said after you restored from your previous tab, What happened to the previous one? the same thing? and how did it get that way?
On the previous tab I was running KhasMek's K-leanMod v3’s Rom and KhasMek Voodoo Plus v5 Now with Full Voodoo CwM Kernel. I wanted to go back to stock so I could get the latest Verizon update. I wanted the Bluetooth HID access. After I converted back to stock I was unable to load the update. It would download but not install. The Verizon tech was unable to help me so they sent me a new one. I realized that I forgot to disable the lag fix before I went back to stock.
This time I Rooted (using super one step root), installed Titanium backup and installed my backed up apps. When I rebooted I lost the 3g service.
did you remove root and tb b4 you tryed flashing the stock files? Also did you have voodoo active if so deactivate before flashing back to stock.
I've looked at a guide on gizmoninja to take a VZW Tab to stock DJ11, then allow the new EC02 update to run, and then flash the Heimdall files for EC02. My question is why let the update run and then flash the EC02 files? Why not just flash the EC02 files? Is it because those Heimdall files are already rooted, is that the difference? I'd like to get to the EC02 update so I can use the Bluetooth capabilities. Or would a different/custom ROM be better?
As a background, my Tab was originally branded for US Cellular that I flashed to stock VZW DJ11. I then did a manual root. I haven't been able to get the update to run and I've flashed 2 different "stock" files.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
hmm, I have a rooted version of DJ11 installed presently, and I have no problem with Bluetooth transfers. As such, I don't think that you need EC02 in order to use it, unless I am missing something. Originally, I did install EC02 via the update, and was able to root it through superoneclick. I decided to revert back to DJ11 for the time being though, as I had installed a custom kernal and it was causing me to have a lot of force close issues.
As for rooting EC02, a lot of people have reported issues. There was some kind of bootloader change in that update that screwed things up. Perhaps that is why the guide suggests installing the update and then flashing a rooted rom.
I soft bricked my vzw tab yesterday. I was on ec02, but didn't know that the rotation fix file had to be unzipped. Did it twice, third time I just used the ec02 and flashed the new kernel after. Unzipped the fix this time! Haven't had a problem yet. Seems way more responsive. Since ec02 has all the files needed there is no reason to go backwards, it works without doing the dj11 steps.

Thanks!
Thanks for the input. I guess I'll take the plunge and just flash the EC02 files and see what happens....? I'll report back. BTW, Hammer, where is the rotation fix file that you mentioned? I hadn't seen any mention about a fix. Or maybe I just missed it in my quick glances!

I have a uscc tab flashed with the verizon stock rom, and the ec02 update errors at about %30. I think its because the baseband is still at dj29. I think I still have the uscc modem still loaded, because the verizon stock restore tut I followed did not have me flash a modem file. I could use either the verizon moden file and try to flash that, or if anyone has the files to restore ec02 to flash straight over. Can someone on a verizon tab tell me what their baseband is along with the corresponding build id?

Got it to work!
I finally took the plunge and just flashed the rooted EC02 files from gizmoninja and it worked perfectly! The Tab rebooted normally and I was on EC02. All my programs were still there and I was still rooted. I didn't have any issue with the screen reorienting when I turned it and it seems faster. I was also able to pair and use my "old" ThinkOutside/iGo folding bluetooth keyboard!
Here is the progression of device data:
Original:

Firmware version 2.2
Baseband ver S:I800.0.3K.DJ29
Kernel 2.6.32.9

After flashing to stock DJ11 from tutorials here at XDA and rooting via a combination of SuperOneClick and manually via ADB:
Model SCH i800
Hardware version SCH-I800.0.3
Firmware version 2.2
Baseband ver S:I800.0.3K.DJ29
Kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #3

Firmware version 2.2
Baseband ver S:I800.0.3K.DJ29
Kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #3

As I said in the OP, I started with a Tab branded for US Cellular and now I have a Tab that looks just like a VZW one! BTW, I use my Tab WiFi only; no data plan or cellular to worry about.
Hope this helps!
I have tried Superoneclick latest version with zergrush. Hangs on step 7. I would like to root my SCH-I800. Anyone shed some some light on this? Even a manual root via adb?

Will CF-Root work? If which file?
same here: no joy with either latest superoneclick or with the pure zergrush.
vzw may have patched that exploit
:/
I mean I can put it back to stock and not update it. Just seems a lot more stable with 2.3.5. More fluid and faster. I originally had 2.2 and rooted manually. Now seeing new update, I reset to stock and downloaded both updates to 2.3.5. No dice on any root method yet. I see CF-Root as method but our device is considered old by latter means? Also my kernel string only gives "2.6.35.7". Hopefully soon...
If you flash the kernel from my Cubed 3 ROM it will allow you to adb push the root files.

Can/should we flash the recovery as well? Is it possible to flash back to the stock kernel and/or recovery after rooting?
BTW, I really like your ROM, I just prefer to stay a little closer to stock. Thanks a lot for all the help you have provided us VZW Tab owners!
EDIT: I just now saw your rooted stock ROM in the development forum. That is really awesome, thanks! But, if possible, I am still interested in rooting the device without having to reflash the entire ROM and losing data/settings in the process.
Any update on this? Suggestions?
Just need to root, not change the ROM (yet!)
Hi, on Samsung Galaxy Ace Android 2.3, I can root it only by flash 'upd_1.zip'/'Acegingerroot.zip' from stock recovery. And it only ROOT the phone, it does not replace stock recovery.
Is it also possible on Galaxy Tab Android 2.3?
Try using zergrush. At least I think that's what it was called.

But perhaps there is someone who has tried 'upd_1.zip' on there Tab, and know if it works.
Because, I don't wanna try if it does mess up something.
Rooted a Galaxy Tab P1000 using SuperOneClick http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
worked perfectly

And you still have stock recovery?
SuperOneClick will root you and not replace Stock recovery. I did this several times when I was trying to find new ways to brick my tab. ;-)
If you don't mind my asking, why do you want to keep the Stock recovery. I'm not trying to discourage you from keeping it, but I've started playing with building my own kernels and I find life is a lot easier building in CWM recovery than just working with stock.
Okay thanks..
I also had the CWM on my own Tab before i sold it. But right now I use a friend's Tab while I was waiting to Tab 7.7 comes in stores. And I will not put CWM on my friend's Tab, because then he can not use the normal reset option 'Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset'. And he do not know (like all other normal people), that he instead should use 'CWM factory reset'. If the Tab has CWM.
Superoneclick worked for me but don't do what I did. lol
After rooting worked so great I reopened the superoneclick and tried a shell root thinking it must be even better! four white lights and soft brick was the result.
Hi all,
Does anyone know of a way to root the samsung galaxy tab since it's last update to Gingerbread 2.3.4?
I Only use the WiFi connection so don't care if its verizon root method.
I search for few hours and tried SuperOneClick a few ways already, but nothing has worked so far.
Would installing any rooted rom with Odin work. If you have tried it please let me know.
Does the Samsung Galaxy Tab SPH-P100 NAND lock with the last update?
If you have tried rooting android 2.3.4 please let me know.
Thanks.
Try putting tab in download mode (on/off plus volume up together).. I managed to root by doing this with oneclick.
Super One Click will not work for the Sprint Galaxy Tab on 2.3.4. There is a pre-rooted Rom you can flash through Odin. It's been around since the 2.3.4 update was released and works very well. You can find it here. Good Luck!

I had tried that previously and it's a no go on the 2.3.4 on the sprint tablet.
Thanks for the advice.

Since this would install all fresh rom it would delete all my application data for the games my wife and kids are playing. Is there a way back this data on a non rooted tab? once I do this I will try the Odin method.
Thanks.
The root worked great. I thought all my apps would be gone but not true, It kept all apps intact and their current status.
