not to miss the root permissions using Odin Mobile Pro, proceedings does not invalidate the warranty. So you will not have the counter incremented and no yellow triangle.

4.0.4 XXLRG is stock ROM and won't give yellow triangle OR increment in flash counter.
But it will just erase root and can be regained with CWM.zip method
But for best performance, one should go for clean installation.

Mobile odib requires root for flashing... So use pc odin to root.. but ul get the yellow triangle... But u can remove the yellow triangle using a jig... There s a tutorial doe that in developmnet section
You could either go for one of the root repacks (the ones which don't give yellow triangle, look for them in dev section) or flash an old firmware and use the zergrush exploit to root. I usually do the second option, I have a KK9 firmware on my hard drive just for that purpose
Once you're on a properly rooted Gingerbread, you can use Mobile Odin Pro to flash ICS and you will retain root.
EDIT: As to rooting directly, don't think you can without getting the yellow triangle
---------- Post added at 01:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:05 PM ----------
Also see this thread... apparently this is quite a bit easier

CWM is optimized for GB maybe... If u are able to go in download mode just upgrade to GB via odin and then install CWM 5 zip
Install Samsung drivers.... Then odin will detect ur device

its possible to do this without any problems?
thanks.
First flash Hydracore then you are good to go
Root following here
And use mobile odin to flash Hydracore
Reminder: you can not do any kind of wipe/flashing roms within stock kernel or you may brick your device

Having superuser doesn't mean you can flash anything from stock kernel and doesn't mean you have cwm.....
If you have root flash Hydracore with mobile odin then you can flash cm9

you can tell me how can i flash it in the most easy way?any instructions?
1- First download PC Odin.
2- Then download Hydracore Kernel tar file [not zip file].
3- Download Triangle Away and put it on your sd card.
4- Then flash the Hydracore tar file by PC Odin.
You will get rooted + Bussybox + Custom CWM but you will have annoying triangle to get rid of it install Triangle Away and run it and reset binary counter.
5- Press Volum up + Home button + Power button similtaneously and keep holding till CWM recovery menu appear from which you can install any custom ROM you want.

Do not encourage people to flash kernels with pc odin because then they will have to either get a jig or use triangle away.. And triangle away its a dangerous procedure..
In dr. Ketans tools thread its linked the easier way to root Wich makes you able to install mobile odin and the flash the kernel with it with no triangle

ok,and what about the tringle away he told me before.i have to do something about it ?or just flash the kernel with odin.
there are 2 odins
1. pc odin; if u flash the kernel with pc odin u will get yellow triangle and then u will have to use triangle away.
2. mobile odin; if u flash it with mobile Odin u will not get yellow triangle
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
ok.so can you give me link to the mobile version please ?
if you have yellow triangle in the starting booting of your phone, then your warranty is gone.. and up to my knowledge there is no easier way to get rid of it without triangle away apk file or jig.. Yes THIS IS A DANGEROUS OPERATION AND COULD POTENTIALLY BRICK YOUR DEVICE. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. A USB JIG IS PREFERRED IF YOU HAVE A WORKING ONE.
For me if you don't have the yellow triangle on the startup, then go for Philz-CWM kernel; it is safe, patched to disable superbrick bug with stock kernel and can be flashed by stock recovery mode without losing your warranty (no yellow triangle)

You can't have functioning mobile odin without root so root first then install mobile odin.. see dr.ketan post on how to get root
I guess he mentioned that he has super user on the device
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
for the OP idoguy;
the superuser su that you have is it only downloaded from google play or did you follow rooting procedure to have it??
If you just download it from google play, then it is not functioning; you need to go through rooting procedure then get mobile odin
My friend asked me to root his Galaxy Note and I am afraid to hardbrick it. I read many threads regarding the processes involved.
He is running unrooted GB 2.3.6 with Kernel JPKK2. I want to upgrade to either Allaince or Criskelo.
If I'm not mistaken, here are the steps just to be sure. Please someone tell me if I'm missing something:
1. Root using post 2 / part 2 with kernel KK2 here.
2. Flash ICS repack by chainfire using mobile ODIN (I read that it is not necessary anymore. Is that true? Can I skip it? If yes, should I flash the new ROM using ODIN or recovery from step 1? I don't want to increase the binary counter.)
3. Reboot to recovery and wipe data/ cache/ dalvik
4. Flash the new ROM and wipe cache / dalvik again
I also read that I shouldn't change the kernel and keep it CF-Root. But Alliance has Ficetos NoteCore ICS 1.0 and Criskelo CF-Root LRG.
Can I use CWM that comes after rooting in part 1 to Nandroid backup the GB room? Same question for the new ROM (backup using the recovery of the specific ROM).
If I'm not mistaken, somewhere, someone said that CWM should not be used to do anything other that flash firmware or it will hardbrick the phone.
That's why I'm confused.
Thank god I own a Samsung Galaxy S2. I can flash anything I want.
best rooting method
upgrade to ics and then root using philz kernel.
then u can install any Rom using cwm

How can upgrade to ICS before rooting. There is no new firmware using the built-in software update.
Simply flash any official ICS using pc ODIN? Will it increase the binary counter?

How do you want to flash lsa?

Use a nandroid backup to go back to stock ics
Only Flashing ANYTHING non-stock using ODIN will raise binary counter as far as I know.
->] [ALLIANCE] [ICS] [FINAL] [<-
Flashing anything other than SAMSUNG ROM's will increase the counter. I am on LSC and have checked - my binary counter is still at 0 (checked thru Triangleaway app). LSC/A are all Samsung leaked JB rom's.
