I've tried to install various custom roms but none of them worked. I've followed the steps on the tutorial and none of them booted!
So my steps were:
Upgraded to 2.3.4 using Odin.
Installed cwm recovery using Odin.
Went into recovery mode:
Tried both ways 1- wipe data/cache and then install Rom and boot. 2- installed the rom and then wipe data/cache.
None of the roms worked! Do I need to be on 2.3.6? Do I need to be rooted?
Please help!
Edit: yes in a galaxy mini!

For custom rom you need gingerbread 2.3.X doesnt matter what version so thats right BUT you need to wipe data wipe cache and wipe dalvic cache BEFORE and AFTER install custom rom!! Try it and it should work, and of cause you need custom rom for mini

Aftr flashing the rom , wipe data
Try like this:-
Put Zip file in sdcard..
reboot to CWM recovery
Wipe data
wipe cache
Advance
wipe dalvik cache
wipe battery stat
mount&storage
format system
format sd ext
Install zip from sdcard/choose zip

Ok guys I found the problem! It was the cwm version! Installed the latest and it works like a charm! Now it's just the great task of installing different roms and let my girlfriend chose the "cutest" one!
I've heard that cm7 is the top one! Which roms do you recommend?

And no need to wipe battery stats
Press Tx button on getting helped by me
What can I do to fix this, Ive tried searching but nothing useful will come up!
Thanks in advance

Give me the situation. Is the Bootloader opening or the recovery opening? If yes, good news, PM me. You can get a twinkie for yourself and recover from bootloops.
If none of the above works then try the PC Odin Method.
Link is here for extra read.
IF CWM Works:
1. Download any ROM which is safe as of now. (Eg. AceDroid )
2. Go to Recovery (that blue droid screen )
3. Wipe Data/Fac Reset
4. Wipe Cache
5. Wipe Dalvik Cache.
6. Flash the Ultimate Kernel Cleaning Script. Find it here. Read well before performing this.
7. Flash the ROM.
8. Reboot.
9. If FCs Occur go for Wipe Cache.
The full wipe did the job. Thanks guys

Are you guys sure, that you are having a P970? Not any other version of Optimus Black or Bright? Just wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik before the installation. Wait for the installation to finish, hit reboot phone and it should work properly. I cant explain it to myself otherwise...
Yes i got p970 2.3.4

I use ClockWorkRec5830i.zip from section dev and it does not install in boot ... it's temporary install that will vanish after reboot ... I install that rom that way :
1. Flash stock rom xxl1 with odin 1.84
2. Go to stock recovery (e3) and chose from sd card clockworkrec5830i.zip to install
3. You will be right now in cwm
4. Now you make wipe cache, dalvik and wipe reset
5. Remember to mount system and data partition
6. Flash v.2.1 simplicity rom
7. Reboot
After that i go once again to recovery and use cwm to install those 3 patches from thread (one of them is for google contacts synchronize )
After that reboot and working
I try to flash that rom half a day and my mistake was not mounting partitions ... always i was have brick
Sorry for my bad english
Can someone help me? I was on RRR v1, then I instal Stunner 2.5.14 with full wipe. Now I want to instal NX kernel 1.3.0. It's OK in CWM, but when I reboot, it stuck on STUNNER 2 screen. I waited for 30min, but no progress - battery drain first. Any clue? BR

Go to recovery again ,, wipe (data-factory reset / cache / dalvik / mounts and storage -> format system / preload ) then flash stunner + gapps then reboot system
After you setup everything reboot recovery and flash the NX 1.3.0 then wipe cache then reboot hope that helps ya
