try format it in your Nokia and using it again in your samsung, but many low end SD cards have this problem, even USB's, they get corrupted and it tends to return to write protected mode ...always best to get a good quality SD card

[Q] My external memory card's been erasing itself

Hi, I got my Galaxy S a 16GB memory card 2 weeks ago then I started to move my apps into the memory card. It was okay until one day when i restarted my galaxy S and suddenly it says "damaged SD card" and asked me to format it. However after a while the "damaged SD card" warning was not there again and i thought that my memory card recovered itself. but when i flipped through my external sd files it's empty.
After that I just reinstalled all my apps and tried to place them back into the memory card again. It was working fine for a few days. however i just realized today the content inside the memory card went missing again. No 'damaged SD card" warning at all..Just disappear.
HELP!! was it the memory card problem or problem on my SGS?
It was a Sandisk external memory card.
Sandisk web site have a test tool .

you probably bought a fake one or something off ebay.
I did not buy it at ebay. It's from a computer shop and on the box it says 5 yrs warranty.
how do i differentiate between a fake and real ones? tried searching for it but only told me about normal SDHC memory cards.
It may be defect on your micro sd card so if you have other phone let's try it.
i tried on an SE phone before when the first time it said it was damaged. when the photn read the memory card it was empty. after tht i tried placing it back to my sgs and the memory inside was lost but it can still be detected.
now the memory card cannot be detected by my sgs!

Sd Card not reconised.

Hello guys!
I've got a Galaxy S i9000 and i have a 8GB microSD. I used that SD card on my Xperia Play (sold it, but without the SD) and after i got the Galaxy I put my SD in it. Everything worked well, it recognised everything... but today I wanted to put some music on my SD and i noticed that it loads very slowly, and after that i got an error which said: "the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error". And I got that error everytime i tried to copy/paste something from/to my SD.
So I said, ok, I'll just format it. I formated it in recovery, and everything wen well...it was fast again so i just tried to copy some music (2 or 3 GB)...but when it was at 80-90% i got that error again.
I searched on the Internet...and found SD Formater and I used it to format my card again. And after it finished I rebooted my phone. After it loaded a notification came up... "SD Damaged"...i tried to format it again in recovery but nothing changed.
So does anyone know how to fix it? Please help me!
Thanks in advance!
PS: Sry for my English and for the long post.
Try to format the SD card in your Computer or another Portable Device like a Camera, External card Reader etc.,
Always safely remove USB & try to enable USB debug mode.

[Q] SD can not be mounted

Hello everyone.
I am using the Cyanogen mod 7 on my Galaxy Ace. Everything was going fine, I used link to SD to make an Ext partition and linked/moved all apps to the SD card.
Today I went to sleep and rebooted the Galaxy cause it had been a long time since I powered it off. When I woke up, all the widgets were broken and I had some overlay saying "Safe mode" on the bottom. I rebooted and widgets kept broken.
I realized that ALL the apps on the SD were gone, so I suspected it was not mounted.
Now the problem is that I can't get the phone to read any SD card at all. New, old, formated...nothing.
Thanks in advance if you can help me.
Regards.

Goto CWM and format your card. If in CWM i doesn't work, use a PC to do so and do not connect it via USB. Use a card reader or something. What class SD card are you using?
Anything below class 4 with Link2SD is bound to get damaged. I lost a 4GB class 2 and another 8GB class 2 because of link2sd.:crying:
And while you're on cm7, use s2e, it's recommended over link2sd for CM7. :good:

I can't, it says unable to mount in the CWM. The card is class 4.
But the problem is not the card, because I can read it in PC. And I tried another card in the phone and can't read it too. So the problem is in the card reader/mount.

Flash to stock and check if the problem persists. If yes, then maybe your card slot is damaged.

On what rom are you? On custom kernel (ICS) you have to disable fast charge.

I only get this message once I insert the microsd card into the tablet, I get the option not now or go to my files, and I always press not now, and it never come up again until I take out the card and re insert.
do you keep taking out the card or does the message just comes up without you removing/insert the card.

thank you guys for your quick reply. Apologize for the insufficient info. Okay, initially when I inserted the card, the tab is in off mode. Once I powered it up, I didn't get that message. I straight away go to my files and the sd card content is already there, so I thought that is normal, but after a while that message cames on. It goes off once you touch anywhere on the screen or the soft keys. This thing happened on and on. the only thing I haven't done is formatting the card. I gonna try that method afterwards. wish me luck...>_<

It is always best to go through the procedures when insert or removing the sd card, use the menu and unmounts the SD card then format, it's best not to continuous taking out the SD card, even though you can do that.
hmm.... I believe I have tried doing all the method mention before. no joy... formatting process unable to complete(using onboard programme), its only done half way before that message appear again....tried several times....still the same....can't format using PC(ahh....couldn't find my card reader)..so I've concluded that I have to change a new card...even though previously all the content inside works flawlessly. anyway....thanks all for the advices given.
I had that problem with an old microSD and my T810. Changing it with a new one (faster and best branded) solved the problem.
No more messages.

There are two more method you can try, download the Panasonic SD formatter and use that program to format the SD card, or you can format the card using a old nokia phone that runs on the old S40 OS.

I had a 16gb sandisk do this on my s2, swapped it yesterday for a newer, faster 64gb card and so far so good. I'd try a different card or buy a new one.

wow... I wanna give this method a try, looks very promising....
I can't guarantee that the SD formatter work, but it's. A very good program made by the SD association, but the Nokia one has a good chance, previously I has some dead micros, and some that will not detect, even on a PC, the nokia fixed it.
