[Q] BSOD Solution - LG Optimus 2x

Hi. Is there a stable solution for the BSODs (Black screen of deaths) problem?!? It happens with cm7 and miui roms (AOSP roms). Is it related to the kernel, to the baseband or what else? If you have suggestions...please share with us!!!

For problems with certain rom/kernel, it would be better to search for answer in their certain thread, as you haven`t write which is your rom/kernel. I would try with changing kernel first or try to over-volt current kernel to see if helps.
However, I would recommend you to go to cutom stock based roms/kernels, which are good, fast and stable. Put an eye on this one .
Or to be sure that it is not a hardware error, go back to pure stock first.

According to temasek their's a way to reduce it but not totally vanish this problem the source of this problem is unknown until today according to him

Modaco FR15 or CM7

Hi guys,
Currently running MCR FR15 but was thinking of giving CM7 a try...
Was wondering which people thought was the better rom at the moment in terms of stability / everything working / best battery life?
Cheers in advance.
I would stick with FR15 for now. It is very reliable. CM7 is way too buggy at the moment. Tried it for 1 day and had a couple of reboot.
i have tried both, CM7 is really not ready yet.
Cm7:
Flash video curruption, Sound stuttering, SOUND distortion , USB Mount to PC bug ,
Most important,
CM7 11. has a bug not all people has been experiencing yet, which the EXTernal USB card is not detecting under Recovery mode. THis **** end up having me NVflash my system, and lost everysingle thing on the device.
Note: if you read the forum , and i am not the only one that has this issue.
i will stay with FR15 for sure.
But to me i rather use STOCK LG ROM, issue free. if you can live with a bit slower UI and installation , other than that i think Custom rom isn't really that much better than LG stock rom with all the issue we are experiencing right now
I tried both, too.
MoDaCo feels more solid with less bug but the battery time kills me. Even with all apps suspended it still drains 10%+ overnight.
CM7 is quite buggy, yes. But I managed to get it running quite a-ok. The most important things work well (phone, gps, usb-storage, youtube, gmail etc...). There are a lots of issues with usb-storage doesnt work for some people and the video driver is still full of bugs (broken flash video, on-off animation don't work yet, screen turns on twice at wake ). Still, the best feature of this CM7 gotta be the battery time which is really really really important for me. Installed CM7 nightly 11 2 night ago and the battery drain has been virtually zero overnight. I will have to monitor it a few more days thought. Just wiped the battery stats yesterday so it might have not been correctly showed yet.

CM7 is completely separate to the recovery, and has no bearing on it. Whatever caused the problem was not CM7.

Totally agree with u.
I would stick with stock until CM7 is ready. Paul will lose interest in the O2X like he does with every device and development will stop. CM7 has a much larger development community and when the final builds are released it will be the perfect Android device.
But to be fair, Paul doesn't stop development on a device until his ROM is as good as he thinks he can get it (which, as I found on my Hero & Blade is pretty damn good - not installed FR15 on my O2X, as still thinking about taking it back).
Tested allmost all cm7 nightlies till v11. Its a dawn good rom, but not reliable at the moment because of the freezes and reboots. I will definitely install cm7 final but till then i continue using fr15 FEAR edition (stable and smoothness ****in rocks )
Hi guys,
Bringing this one back from the dead - we're a month on from the original post... is there any change?
Is MCR (FR17) still the best custom rom?
Of has CM or one of the FR18 roms from here surpassed it?
CM7 has come along way, annoying freezes are a thing of the past.
I'd recommend a modaco based rom. I'm running fear edition and it's nice and fast. Cm7 still has some bugs.
I'd recommend making a nandroid and testing a few out for yourself. Backup and restore is a fairly simple process

I'm running CM7 .42 build at the moment, and I must say I'm pretty impressed. Overall feel is better than with Fr16 (haven't used 17+, since that's when I went on to ecperiment with CM7 nightlies), app installation is faster, Gingerbread (should I say more? Well, yes: it brings UI changes I prefer to Froyo, like the widget selection screen, faster UI overall).
I had issues with Slick2x and Spoelstra's GB ROMs rendering my Wifi unstable and unable to connect after a while, but I have flashed CM7 off the official source and it is bloody stable, fast and I have yet to experience that WiFi bug again. (I have had one reboot, but I am pretty sure it was a sucky app (errrr, game) that caused it. Hard to blame CM7 for that.)
I'm currently not going back to Paul's ROMs for a while. I'll stay a subscriber though: he has magic fingers and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do when LG finally gets us GB....
I'm using the latest CM7 Nightly, it works perfect, but the only issue is that i'm not able to get the internal sd-card mounted.
Anybody got a solution for this?
Look in /mnt/emmc
Thanks, but...
For example the camera won't see it. I think camera app doesn't know the mountpoint. Same at gallery.
Currently, I don't have an external sd-card...
I'll have a try by editing the vold.fstab, perhaps that's it
Edit: just renaming emmc with sdcard and vice versa doesn't solve the problem.
Edit2: It works!
Tested fr17 fearless today, it's nice and quick but i just miss something.. don't know what. Back to cm7

+1 for Modaco or fear Rom CM7 just isn't there yet for an everyday rom, It's close. I still get sound missing or stuttering in MOST music players that only goes away after a reboot but come back randomly. A fair few games just refuse to run under CM7 that run fine under any other non 2.3 rom. So for me any 2.2 based rom is at least usable as 2.3 isn't quit there yet. If you however never use your phone for music/photo or games then CM7 may just be ok for you.
Kernel
Sorry, but you and 'ever fail to install rom with some kernel?? Let me explain:
Device: Lg optimus dual root
Rom can not install anything they "Flesch" kernel Modak r10.

Not 100% sure what you're trying to say...I recommend a wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition then dalvik cache in clockwork recovery. Then install your new ROM. If that doesnt work try nvflash back to stock.

Best custom rom bases stock.

I have tried a couple of different roms, and it is realy hard to find a perfect one. I realy like cm7-kang and miui. It has great speed and response, but the problems with the gpu drivers, is causing some of my apps to freeze and lag. I have been happy with the stock rom combined with horsepower kernel. Without the kernel, my phone gets slower after a day or two. With the kernel, it will take longer before the phone gets slower. So does anyone know a rom based on stock that has fixed the slowdown bug.
Thanks
I Suggest gueste v3 rom based on cyanogen and stock .!!! its perfect working , very fast , i am currently using it without any problems check it. : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1464986

[Q] Stable ROM for GT-I9001 ?

Hi all,
I am looking for a good and stable ROM for my GT-I9001. Yes, the list of available ROMs has been provided as a sticky thread in the forum, and a list of available ROMs is also provided in the Wiki for the phone too, but there are so many ROMs... it's very difficult to decide, specially when I am a newbie.
Also, am a total newbie in this area. I have just been using the phone as it is, with the stock ROM for over an year. I haven't even rooted the phone yet. But now, am willing to root the phone, and even thinking about installing a custom ROM.
So, please suggest some good and stable ROM(s) for the phone, preferably with latest Android, like JellyBean, or even ICS. Stability and efficiency is the key for me, because I am not too keen on changing ROMs regularly, unless I being to enjoy experimenting and playing around with the phone .
I was happy with the stock ROM until now, but recently, I encountered a problem with the Play Store, and thinking it was a problem with the phone, I reset it to factory settings. Now, am unable to upgrade the firmware through Kies because of some unknown error. Someone on this forum suggested flashing via Odin... so, I thought that if I have to flash it via Odin, and get dirty, then why not root it, and try some custom ROMs.
Am a bit nervous with all these processes as they are new to me, and also, if my phone gets bricked, I can't afford a new one . Still, atleast the rooting process looks easy to me. Rest, I will and try.
I am fairly experienced with computers and Windows, but Android and phones are a new area for me. But, I can pick up easily, just have to try. Can play around.
Any suggestions for a good stable ROM will be appreciated . Thanks.
No reply yet. Can other fellow I9001 users help me out there please? Share their experience with different ROMs, or just direct me towards a nice stable one.
Looking for the same...
Hi.
I'm also looking for same answers. Haven't tried any ROM yet but looking for a fast and stable one. Hoping for replies soon.
The CM10 port by ivendor (here) is very stable and feature-complete as far as I'm aware (except video-out, which doesn't exist on custom roms).
There is also a CM10.1 port by Xistance (here) of which there are a number of positive comments on the forums lately. However, this isn't something I've tried myself and I actually wouldn't really recommend it as very stable (there are a few things still missing and/or not working properly, such as bluetooth).
Next worth mentioning is arco's CM9 (here) which is pretty much rock solid (RC3 that is) but suffers from SOD (screen of death) issues since RC4 so I don't recommend RC4, RC5 or RC6. Although I very much enjoyed using CM9 for months I would recommend CM10 now though, it's equally stable and performs better (in my experience).
There are also a number of ROMs that are based on another ROM (usually one of those I already mentioned). They're usually comparable to their "unmodified" variant so you can just experiment with that.
Those are the ones I'd personally recommend but everyone has their own opinion on this kind of thing.
Thanks a lot for your reply Marshian, much appreciated . I think I will go for CM10. Will keep an eye on development of CM10.1.
Rooted my phone today.. yippie .
Will now read about how to flash ROMs, and then go for CM10.

[Q] What's the best CM7 Rom for P970

I must ask
because I like a lot CM7 ROMs, very fast and all the apps worked so good, even faster than stock ROM
but everytime I installed one of them it always happened the same to me, randomly, but sooner or later, my screen just got stuck and I needed to reboot...
is it a ROM based on Cyanogenmod7 which doesn't present that problem, I mean a really stable one??

CICI was one of the more stable CM7 ROMs, but it wasn't solid.

You want a GB 2.3.4 based ROM for the greatest stability and performance.

oh yeah I tested CICI once, it's amazing I almost left that one as my default ROM but it presented the same problem (system crash and random reboot) not sure if the latest has this issue fixed

[SOLVED] Custom 5.0 kernel for LT30P

Are there any custom kernels for the Xperia T compatible with CM12?
I want to solve the "sleep of death" issue on my Xperia T running CM12 (20151011 nightly) with the stock CM kernel.
It may not be a kernel issue, but I'd like to be able to choose a better/more customizeable governor.
My ROM includes a custom kernel and is backwards compatible with CM12, so why don't you give the latest build a shot?
After reading about all the optimizations you built into the ROM, I tried out your build a long time ago when I was between CM 11 and 12, but I never could get it to boot. I'll definitely give it a shot again.
In case it still doesn't work, is there any way for me to use just your kernel with CM12?
You might try copying the system/lib/modules folder from my ROM to your system and flash my boot.img afterwards. This is not confirmed working (yet), but it's the only procedure I could think of to make it work.
Close to 32 hours on your ROM and still no sleep of death.
I was also a bit wary about the "below-60%-battery" issue, but it seems to have been resolved.
Thank you!
