Jelly Bean 4.1.1 ? - XPERIA X8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone posted a JellyBean (Android 4.1) Rom for Our X8

You can check in the DEV section yourself, or am I mistaken?
The answer is no. The sources just got released, and seeing as ICS took a lot of effort to get it running fast enough on our devices, it probably will be ages before we get a proper JB rom.

I doubt it will take as long, as Jelly Bean seems to be more of an update than a completely new thing.

trudat

I don't see why not.
ICS does, and it's supposed to run worse on the same hardware.

Listen no one is gonna bother porting it.x8 its getting older by the day.

People said that about ICS, JB is a smoother ICS with a few new features. Why would the X8 not get JB?

I think someone will make a JellyBean ROM eventually, because it:s just an update to ICS, but don't forget we haven't got perfect ISC yet. In my opinion it will take developers 3 or more months to make it work smooth on our Xperias.
And i think that being able to use great GingerBread roms on our X8 is enough and we should enjoy it .
Sent from my X8 using xda app-developers app

The thing is....
1)ICS was never smooth.. not even on high end phones! So it could never fet buttery smooth in our phones.
2) jellybean is lighter then ics roms! Yes! So the developers had to struggle to keep the size of the rom small of ICS.. they wont have to do that on JB
3) JellyBean has most of the same libs for camera and speaker if I am not wrong. So devs wont be struggling for camera here. They already figured it out in ICS.
3) I bet Dx and nAa have already started the work as we discuss.. that's why you ain't seeing any development in their ICS threads.
CONCLUSION: We getting jellybean soon bi**hs

The first thing we gonna need is a JB kernel, because JB does not run on nAa ICS :/

i think that nAa knows how to modify his ICS kernel to be JB compatible. For crying out loud he made 2.1 kernel work with ICS and implemented backports from 3.0 kernel, so, i guess, a little modiffication from ICS to JB won' t be such a big hassle.
plus he has a galaxy nexus already and i'm guessing he is already running JB on it, plus the sorce code is out for allmoust a week now....
Plus THAT MAN LOVES TO HACK THE SHIZZLE OUT OF OUR X8's XD XD XD
I also think we will see JB on our X8's pretty soon...

maclaw.pl he already port JB to Galaxy Gio

Galaxy S Plus Jelly bean Port Status (CB10)

Hello Team,
Can any one please tell me if there would be a Jelly bean port for Galaxy S Plus (GT-I9001) Mobile ?
I found one Port try from Mr. vpupkin, but the last update from him was , as the jelly bean source was full of bugs he will wait till proper bug free source is avaiable. But this update he posted on Mid of June 12, I think after that no one tried to port the JB itseems .
Any Update please ?
None that I know of and I don't have the i9001 but I'll try to port it sometime next week if you want

@Latrop: That would be great if you can. I heard since Jelly bean got almost he same internal structure like ICS, and we have a 98% WOrking CM9 available I hope it wont be too tough to do that. Still I cant comment more on it as I am not a developer (But I could say I am good tester) and only a dev can comment the actual difficulty about this port. All the best and I am waiting .
Cheers,
Kirankumar.

this is the great people you should be talking to about JB port to our device :highfive:
Hello ,
Just wanted to give you a suggestion. You might have heard of the broodROM (Maintained by broodPlank) , that the only ROM which I found as non Laggy, rest all custom ROMs, some and other reason faces a lot of lagging issues. So if we can get the technique used by Mr.Brood, we could get a lagless CM10 Port. I know that Jelly bean has something called project butter which promises to keep the lag away, but if that does the solution while porting then fine, else we can get some tips from Broodplank.
Cheers,
Kirankumar.[/QUOTE]

FAQ:
Is it new basebands or old basebands?
This ROM is for old basebands. It is Froyo 2.2.2
Why does settings force closes when I boot up?
I believe this is caused by having the new basebands installed when flashing the ROM. To fix: See bottom of first post in this post.
I just flashed the ROM, and I'm in a boot-loop. What do I do?
I have yet to find out why, but my phone does this too upon first flashing. Do a battery pull, and the phone should start up fine.
Note: I have received reports of a calendar bug. This appears to be a flaw in Froyo itself. Also, despite a complaint about ADB, ADB IS WORKING. I checked it myself.
If you have problems or issues please follow the following format:
Problem you are having and steps you took to get there
Phone model number (P500, P509, etc.)
Baseband (Old or New)
Carrier
Kernel (if not Franco)
Android 2.2.2?? :victory:
this should have amazing battery life :fingers-crossed:
will give it a try tomorrow :good:

It uses the stock basebands from the p509 (t-mobile version of the p500). These should be the same as the p500.
Edit: The ROM is 2.2.2 so I believe it uses the old basebands. Updating the post to make Android Version more clear.

Suggestions:
1)first theme your rom to something like ics. maybe use metamorph or something
2)Add some scripts for better performance
rest all fine. good to see froyo again

Like glimming said, it could be a baseband issue. The only time I had this problem was in my first alpha build, and it was because it was based off of the wrong stock ROM. OptimusC is based off the LG P509 stock. I'm working to see if this was your problem too.

I do not think you can find one rom that is just the best as some users, like my self, hate sense but love aosp roms and others the other way around. Some users will say one rom is the best as it fits what they need and others will say differently. I do not user a benchmark tool for calculating what the best is as some roms is laggy even if antutu says it scores higher. My experience with jelly bean for sensation xl is that I think many users will love its speed and performance and just the look and feel

There is Totally Senseless wich is really nice like all others.
Other than that, I dont wanna vote for anyones sake, sorry. Every rom is unique and havent tried RunElites MIUI or Fshami Sense 3.6 V1.9 that much.
Everyone has good sides and, dont wanna say bad ones, but things I would have done differently. And some minor flaws of course.
In the end, its not a competition. And if it was, guys like me would be the winners. We dont know anything about making roms but still get treated by
developers hard work that makes our phones even more powerful, useful and interesting. So prost to you all !

Honestly, i don't know how people get this device bricked....honestly!
I tried ti brick it, and when i say i tried, i really tried.
I flashed One X ROM on purpose to see what happens, stuck on HTC Logo, flashed One V ROM on purpose, same HTC logo, so no brick.
Flashed broken recoveries, no problem, still got hboot, flashed broken kernels, htc logo, flashed incomplete ROM's black screen or htc logo...
So i experimented with this device a lot and still no brick for me (you can say i'm lucky), other than that, the original ICS kernel for this device Supports JB 4.1 and my new kernel for JB supports 4.2 so you should have no problem with kernel to at least boot an JB Sense based ROM.

[Discussion] [Official] For both custom and stock roms and kernels.

This is a thread i started because there are so many questions around the battery life, performance and what is the best room, kernel and so on.
What is allowed to discuss in this thread:
Battery life and performance in roms and kernels.
What rom and kernel you use and why is that.
Problems with different type of kernels and roms.
What is the best kernel and rom for gaming.
Also you are allowed to discuss good apps to improve performance and battery life.
I hope you now start to discuss these things in this thread, and that you stop starting threads about these things.
I think it is better with all these things in one thread, instead of that there is a lot of threads that are involved in these things.
Thanks for me!
Ok,,is this thread for official rom and kernel or custom rom and kernel discussion ?

What is the best kernel and rom for gaming.
Also you are allowed to discuss good apps to improve performance and battery life.
I hope you now start to discuss these things in this thread, and that you stop starting threads about these things.
I think it is better with all these things in one thread, instead of that there is a lot of threads that are involved in these things.
Thanks for me!

Do you use Iodak Kernel?, it's not necessary to hibernate apps, Android JB automatically pause them and even kill them if it's necessary.
What would you guys say would be a good kernel for battery life (on screen time>standby) and performance for stock rom?

Using Stock 20A with Iodak v7... Got best Battery life & Performance... If u like Stock based Custom Rom Then I suggest using Zaiben Or Magic Rom...

Any bug at all, is fast, stable and can keep your device cooler than the stock kernel, it has a very good memory management, and frequacy scaling tweaks, also it has latest Nvidia drivers from HTC One X+ and Project Ouya...
After flashing iodak's kernel do you need to do anything to activate the battery life saving? I know it sounds stupid but I've used it several times with stock and cm and threesome I got shocking results and it usually showed as either android system, brightness or Google services . Everytime I used greenify and brightness was all the way down. However I'm getting slightly better results using the latest kernel which is built in with cm...

[ROM][JB][4.4.2][4/6/14] CyanAOSP 4.4.2 v3.4.0 [Stable | For Gaming]

Main Features
1. Fast, stable and intended for gamers
2. Built from CM10.2 source with GCC 4.6 with O3 optimizations, heavily debloated , almost no 3rd party apps pre-installed
3. Cyancore kernel included for now
4. Additional tweaks ( vary from version to version )
5. For those people who love ROMs with lots of themes , customizations , apps etc , please leave now , you will be disappointed , this ROM is not for you.
3rd party apps
Nova Launcher
I understand that this ROM will sound simple and backward to many, but it is a stable and fast base for gaming, probably the fastest without OC, and with OC, it flies.......
Due to the cleanness of this ROM, it will provide exceptional battery backup too.
So do you users want a clean gaming oriented ROM or do you want your gaming to be riddled with problems and lags forever?
Feature Requests accepted, but only stuff which enhances the speed and stability, or betters gaming speed without lessening stability will be added.
Known Bugs
None ATM
Install Procedure for best performance

CyanAOSP ROM v2.0.0
Changelog
1. Android Base update - JLS36G
2. Huge CM10.2 upstream sync
3. Latest CyanCore 3.2.0 Kernel
4. Removed CyanogenMod Account
I had a problem with the installation. Coming from CM 10.1.3, I received a warning " incompatible layout partition... error 7 ...".
Yes just reflash again it should go through. If you wipe it then flash twice it'll fix the partitions

Yeah it takes 200mb from data to system even though some ROMs like this don't need it. So don't try to directly flash without backing up apps

Flashed without a problem coming from PACman 4.3 it is super fast and great I haven't actually played a game yet though. I will report back about that and battery life tomorrow. It is a lot more responsive then PACman though and I love it

No TV out I see (Slim 4.3 has it). Apart from this it seems excellent. Certainly the fastest rom I've used thus far...
