This is a thread i started because there are so many questions around the battery life, performance and what is the best room, kernel and so on.
What is allowed to discuss in this thread:
Battery life and performance in roms and kernels.
What rom and kernel you use and why is that.
Problems with different type of kernels and roms.
What is the best kernel and rom for gaming.
Also you are allowed to discuss good apps to improve performance and battery life.
I hope you now start to discuss these things in this thread, and that you stop starting threads about these things.
I think it is better with all these things in one thread, instead of that there is a lot of threads that are involved in these things.
Thanks for me!
Ok,,is this thread for official rom and kernel or custom rom and kernel discussion ?

Do you use Iodak Kernel?, it's not necessary to hibernate apps, Android JB automatically pause them and even kill them if it's necessary.
What would you guys say would be a good kernel for battery life (on screen time>standby) and performance for stock rom?

After flashing iodak's kernel do you need to do anything to activate the battery life saving? Though changing the kernel can definitely improve battery life, I would suggest changing the modem to the one which works best at your place.. further recalibrating your battery will have a major effect on your battery life..

I think you just have to try many of them Many times the newest is the best but not always.
Give couple of days per kernel and find suitable for you. And I suggest you to read OC/UV tips from Glitch thread. Underclocking and undervolting will increase your battery life too.
Has anyone posted a JellyBean (Android 4.1) Rom for Our X8
You can check in the DEV section yourself, or am I mistaken?
The answer is no. The sources just got released, and seeing as ICS took a lot of effort to get it running fast enough on our devices, it probably will be ages before we get a proper JB rom.

I doubt it will take as long, as Jelly Bean seems to be more of an update than a completely new thing.
trudat
I don't see why not.
ICS does, and it's supposed to run worse on the same hardware.
Listen no one is gonna bother porting it.x8 its getting older by the day.

People said that about ICS, JB is a smoother ICS with a few new features. Why would the X8 not get JB?
I think someone will make a JellyBean ROM eventually, because it:s just an update to ICS, but don't forget we haven't got perfect ISC yet. In my opinion it will take developers 3 or more months to make it work smooth on our Xperias.
And i think that being able to use great GingerBread roms on our X8 is enough and we should enjoy it .
Sent from my X8 using xda app-developers app
The thing is....
1)ICS was never smooth.. not even on high end phones! So it could never fet buttery smooth in our phones.
2) jellybean is lighter then ics roms! Yes! So the developers had to struggle to keep the size of the rom small of ICS.. they wont have to do that on JB
3) JellyBean has most of the same libs for camera and speaker if I am not wrong. So devs wont be struggling for camera here. They already figured it out in ICS.
3) I bet Dx and nAa have already started the work as we discuss.. that's why you ain't seeing any development in their ICS threads.
CONCLUSION: We getting jellybean soon bi**hs

i think that nAa knows how to modify his ICS kernel to be JB compatible. For crying out loud he made 2.1 kernel work with ICS and implemented backports from 3.0 kernel, so, i guess, a little modiffication from ICS to JB won' t be such a big hassle.
plus he has a galaxy nexus already and i'm guessing he is already running JB on it, plus the sorce code is out for allmoust a week now....
Plus THAT MAN LOVES TO HACK THE SHIZZLE OUT OF OUR X8's XD XD XD
I also think we will see JB on our X8's pretty soon...

If you are really concerned about a good battery life, then go for stock firmware or stock based roms. Such as Jana rom.

Hey guys , post here all the best combinations you use , even if it has stock with it. I need recommendations for my phone but i dont wanna wreck it. When someone answers with the right answer youre not helping just me , but every junior member here in XDA that want to discover and tweak their phone.
So the real objective of this thread is to know the right combination for
:Smoothness even with the sacrifice of battery
: Outlasting battery even with the sacrifice of performance
:Smoothness and Battery performance with no sacrifices
and, :What combination does Recognized Developers / Contributors use?
and here is the Combination:
Stock FWs +[Insert a random Custom ROM here] + [Insert a random Custom Kernel here] + Crossbreeder + 4cylturbo + Other mods
Including CPU Governor and I/O Scheduler SUGGEST BEST COMBO or tell yours
Mine is: SmartAssV2 + Zen
Thats it guys , im waiting for your answers
Regards, j-skeelz
And why you open this thread in the develop area?
It must be at General Section or Help & Troubleshooting
Moved to general
My suggestion is that you should try them all. Only then you will know the difference and see which suits you best. People's suggestion might not suit your taste or usage. So try them all yourself and see how it goes. Don't forget to make backup if you don't wanna wreck your phone.
Every phone is different..just try it by yourself..now i'm using lq4+cocore 5.0+turbo stock+4cyl script and my phone dont have problem with performance..just battery sometime didnt last longer as in chucky bean v9..

Which ROM uses less RAM?
Main Features
1. Fast, stable and intended for gamers
2. Built from CM10.2 source with GCC 4.6 with O3 optimizations, heavily debloated , almost no 3rd party apps pre-installed
3. Cyancore kernel included for now
4. Additional tweaks ( vary from version to version )
5. For those people who love ROMs with lots of themes , customizations , apps etc , please leave now , you will be disappointed , this ROM is not for you.
3rd party apps
Nova Launcher
I understand that this ROM will sound simple and backward to many, but it is a stable and fast base for gaming, probably the fastest without OC, and with OC, it flies.......
Due to the cleanness of this ROM, it will provide exceptional battery backup too.
So do you users want a clean gaming oriented ROM or do you want your gaming to be riddled with problems and lags forever?
Feature Requests accepted, but only stuff which enhances the speed and stability, or betters gaming speed without lessening stability will be added.
Known Bugs
None ATM
Install Procedure for best performance
You should take a nandroid backup if anything goes wrong
1. Wipe data , cache , dalvik cache (required while changing layout)
2. Format system and datadata (required while changing layout)
3. Install CyanAOSP ROM, you will get an error if coming from other Roms!
3a. Install it again, this will fix the errors this time
4. Install Gapps , link below.
5. Set up the ROM and leave it alone for 10-15 mins.
6. Reboot again and enjoy.
Users way to get good flash:
from 4.3:
1.had to flash fluid kernel to get cwm.
2.then i wiped, etc.
3.flashed build 1.
4.then gapps. (took about 4-5 mins to boot.)
5.Skipped everything on setup menu. 6.Rebooted to recovery.
7.flashed Fluid Kernel, reboot.
8.Then I went to developer settings and select art.
NOTE: THIS HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
