Thanks for the help. Now I know what was the problem... I thought that my girlfriend would clean up her PHOTO folder, and she was like "I'm out of space and I don't know why"... Maybe those over 400 photos and counting...?

Lol.... is she blonde?

nope, brunette. But she takes photos like I take breaths of air and she forgets to save them to pc (don't tell her but it's a good thing she didn't because my hdd failed and I lost everything and if she moved them well you know who would have been blamed)

Is it possible to get my memory usage even lower?

Currently using stock gb 2.3.6 and I just changed my wallpaper to static and deleted most of my running apps only to see my usage of ram is 400/800, any chance I can lower it even further without doing any flashing to the from...
Thanks

Either you are drunk or your keyboard has been cheating on you
+1 on the lighter ROM OR
At OP: there is an app called system tuner, where you could decide which applications should start, using that you could have a restricted start up and "might" be able to reduce memory usage.

want to enable swape ram in custom rom..

Hi guys,
i flashed zeus rom 6.39n two days ago
and tried to make swape file using swapper2
but always says fail...so it is supposed to be a custom rom
where every thing is possible
ao any help here ,,,
Swap is slow and your performance will suffer badly. Much better idea is to use memory compression from CM.

Use an app called swapper 2 in Play Store. Its free. Note that this worsens the SDCard Life.

As far as i know "swap" has to be supported by the Kernel.
And i think you dont need it cause there is enough RAM.

OB has a very weak RAM. Its 512mb is mainly eaten by Android. Leaving 200Mb+MAX left.
In average performance ROMs, it made OB leave with 160+ Mb
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk 2
Using the SD Card as a swap file is not a good idea. It's slow and will very possible make performance worse. In the KU5900 there is a partition for swapping on the phone itself and of course that kernel is built to handle it. The P970 can't be repartitioned to have a swap file on the phone itself, because it will make us lose space from userdata and we can't make the relevant changes to u-boot (We can make the changes to the partition header but then it won't boot ).
If RAM is a problem rather reduce RAM Usage by not having Widgets and not having millions of programs running in the background and use SuperChargerV6 that help a lot!

And that's not enough? I Think swap would'nt have a positive effect.
If that were so, there would have been someone implemented in its kernel.
Be careful with swapper, I used it and got perma-brick (the phone just didn't start, I could not enter s/w upgrade neither. I ended up paying 100 bucks for motherboard change.

Settings FC on ICS, with Internal Memory at half

I'm getting "Non Responding" box (old FC box...) on every ICS Rom I've tryied till now. Talking about ICS TW, stock or Custom.
When I go to Settings-Applications, the screen take some time to show apps (it's normal, OK), but after that, it doesn't show the apps size.
It freezes some seconds, then go Black screen, except for the notification bar. Nothing works, except the screen time-out.
After about 30 seconds, the message "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped working" or so, appears.
This issue appears frequently after a massive apps installation, i.e., after a data/factory reset changing Rom.
In other words: once the 2GB of internal memory are half-filled, the probability of this issue is high.
The phone works right, otherwise; but is hard to push big apps into the SD. I must open Apps2SD, be care to the "time window" while it shows "computing...", and force-push to SD, before Settings FC in the underground.
Sorry if I have been too long. The issue is really easy to see in the real life...
Nobody has/had this issue?

what's a "repetitioned phone"?
I've buy my Note in a very seriuos big shop. It's N7000 for Europe, original unlocked.
Coming with ... don't remember, maybe 2.3.5 Germany, but buy in Spain, back in mars.
Using deodexed LC1 for a long period, I think the most stable thing I've been using.

What kernel are you on? What rom?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Notecore 14.1 OC
CleaNote v6
But this behavior appears on ICS, on any kernel-Rom I've tryied, Last Philz's are glam, but same thing. Hydracores are the worst, even with CleaNote!
Best w. Notecores and Speedcores. Std or OC doesn't influences noticiablely....
Edited; this behavior remembers me sadly the fatal combination Milestone-Droid with official Froyo update, who had same problem, amongst others...
Run a scan with the following app, sounds like you may have damaged emmc. If the scan crashes its bad news.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I yet had this app, but only made brick-bug test ("bad chip").
Anyway, "test passed"....
Another suspect behavior: if I click Storage on Settings, it takes almost 5 minutes (!) to display the USB storage occupation.
Never seen that on GBread, even with a huge number of apps.
Edited: writing this with the Note. It really works, as you can see. In fact, the Settings issue is the only noticiable one.
Just as a last thing, try removing external sd card, see if you get same behaviour after reboot.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Thanks, I will try that tomorrow. Bed is calling me...
Edited on Monday 26th: Same thing without the external-SD
Anyway. Waiting for a good JB to see if this behavior stops.
Thanks so much for read all this posts!!

Big go up to this thread, sorry . Maybe this can help someone.
I've flashed a JB Rom, the Sweet Rom v 2,5. I have almost a half internal apps memory occuped, and things are right! :good:
No more Settings FC (by now). It seems that something went wrong with the ICS SD-USB organization, at least on my device...
Now things go faster an safer.

does SWAP help making games less lag?

soi curreltny made a 256 mb swap file and using v6 supercharger and everything but i didn'treally notice a difference in game performance , i can open like 5 apps but games nbot really?is it normal?
The smoothness of games depends also on the power of the cpu and gpu, which isn't the ace's strenght.
Swap helps for multitasking and keeping apps in memory longer (which reduces app loading time) but it won't make games run better or faster.
I guess little bit it help in performance of game as its usefull in load game data faster !

If your sd card is class 6 or lower, it can even slow down your games
After installing some heavy games, there's really no gaming difference. Only multi tasking has drastically improved.
I even tried out JB this afternoon using this same method and it still didn't make a gaming difference. The multi tasking is awesome though so I have no complaints.
How hard on a SD card is this?

I bought an extra one just for swap. Bought a 4GB class 4. Not risking my 8GB. It's hard on a SD with INT2EXT+ also installed. I don't know how long it'll last but once you got swap, you'll never go back.
I can play Tank Hero, switch to facebook on Opera Mini while answering to chats on WhatsApp and IMO instant messenger. Without having my game interrupted. AND run a bunch of widgets that would slow down my phone. Multi-tasking is incredible.
And the best part is, since I'm using a swap file and not partition, I can shrink or increase the swap size at will

Swap is pretty useless on mobile
And you get a dead SD card with it too, like those buy one get one free in shops

Don't generalize. It's useless to you. I bet you haven't even used it before.

Swap file possible?

I used roehsoft ram expander on my old wildfire buzz to create a swap file on my sd card to increase the ram memory and it worked pretty well.
Is it possible to use this with the same mini? I ran a test using an app from play store, screen shot below. It may not be accurate. It says the kernel isn't compatible.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using Tapatalk 2
The reason for this may be because willy had a custom kernel and our device hasn't got a custom kernel, I came from wildfire aswell.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
Well maybe you're right although I tried to run ram expander and it says error no sd card. I set the correct location and it refuses to detect it.

Do you realy need more ram?? 1gb is not enough?
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
While the system + running apps is using around 400 - 600 mb sometimes more, I don't want to have to clean up every time I watch a high quality video via my tv or play a heavy game. Some games optimally uses about 500mb, etc. No 1gb isn't enough xd.
Yes I can use su boost via console and it isn't hard, but if I could have more ram wouldn't that be optimal? Who doesn't want more? Why not just stick with a old handset if 1gb is all you'll ever need. I bet a year from now you'll want more when 1gb is relatively small
Sent from my GT-I8190 using Tapatalk 2
Yes you are right.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
So I guess the question is, what would need to be modified in the kernel to allow creation of the swap file in the SD? Things like this is making me interested in learning android development
