[Q] Galaxy Ace lagging a lot recently. - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I installed CyanogenMod 7.2-cooper-vo-1-RC3-Android 2.3.7 recently. I'm having major trouble with sudden lags in the phone. This lag deals with the following:
a. UI Lags
b. Transition Lags
c. Pop-up lags
d. Application lags.
This was never an issue when I had the older version of the same ROM. Is it an issue with the new version? I couldn't find anything on the thread of the same ROM.
I'm also using SlaidyBoost V2.3.
Is there any way to fix this issue? Please help.
Thank you.

Don't use animations and transitions to avoid lags. Also SlaidyBoost v2.3 is buggy. Use Adrenaline Engine instead.

Hey, thanks for such a quick reply. I have a doubt, since I have installed SlaidyBoost, is there a way to remove this? Because from what I read on the thread, I cannot install any other script with SlaidyBoost.
Thanks once again.

They aren't in my init.d folder. The files in my folder are:
00banner
01sysctl
02cooper
03firstboot
04modules
05mountsd
06mountdl
20userinit.
Does this mean, that I dont have the script installed? Because I'm not sure if it had flashed correctly.
And where do I get SmartAzz? Is it an app? I'm sorry for being so clueless about everything.
Thanks again.

Most of the patch are added to Build.prop so make a backup of your Build.prop you you can revert it back. Rest are the scripts that goes under Init.d folder. So you could deleted the script and reboot the device.
Hope this helps!
Tried both of them and both of them give me problems

The 825 seems stable at first glance for my Arc. Still use SetCPU btw to set the speeds to 0.122/1.5GHz and Smartassv2 governor. Will try the package for a few days to see speed/battery/memory.
Btw, does this make the v6 supercharger memory management obsolete? Or does is still work?
UPDATE: I can say the phone is stable at the above speeds. I don't really notice a difference in battery/speed/memory, but maybe it's due to irregular usage. I had no speed or memory issues before so maybe it can't be better.
I haven't done any flashing of rom (still afraid to do that hehehe) but i would like to share the things i added on my build.prop
I'm in Singapore - Singtel Carrier
(no more dropping the 3G signal while on call)
ro.ril.enable.dtm=1
(faster lock of gps satellite in my exp)
ro.ril.def.agps.mode=1
ro.ril.def.agps.feature=1
(not for speed hehe just to add 3g prefix somewhere. couldn't find any diff)
ro.ril.enable.3g.prefix=1

Yes. But I recommend to add the manually. Because in the the Build.prop might be for Arc. Check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233878
How on earth do you even get recovery on ARC in the first place ?
or this is some other recovery you guys are talking about ?
why didn't anyone post up their experiences with this yet ?

[SCRIPTS] Scripts Collection and Discussion for Vibrant

These are some of cool scripts found in different sections works with Vibrant.
I will keep adding and updating working scripts as I find them.
Ofcourse, I didn't wrote myself. Thanks to knzo for providing code.
What I did is bring them together here, so can be accessed by ROM chefs & users easily.
What Scripts are included:
strict minfree handler tweak
internet speed tweaks
vm management tweaks
misc kernel tweaks
battery tweaks
EXT4 tweaks (greatly increase I/O) (needs /system, /cache, /data partitions formatted to EXT4) --> Don't use on MIUI/CM7
Defrags database files
Remove logger
microSD card speed tweak
Loopy Smoothness tweak
Darky's Zipalign
Juwe's Ram Booster Script
To use these tweaks place the respective files in system/etc/init.d folder before flashing your ROM.
Some of tweaks are reviewed in below post.
> Works on any OS preferably Froyo and Gingerbread.
> Needs init.d access and busybox.
> You CANNOT flash this file anytime since its not CWM flashable yet.
> Its manual procedure to add scripts/hosts individual extracted file into your downloaded ROM zip file at paths specified. Please be careful with this else it wont work.
> If your ROM already have similar named script, keep only that one or delete that and add from these.
Miscellaneous file:
HOSTS file
Removes more than 95% of ADs from browser as well ad-supported applications.
Better than Ad-free application.
Works on all ROMs
Place "HOSTS" file in system/etc/ folder.
Share your experience with scripts.
Please discuss what scripts/tweaks really helps Vibrant.
USE THEM ON YOUR OWN RISK.
Loopy Smoothness Tweak:
Entering your PIN with minimal/no delay/lag
Minimising delay with lock screen pattern/unlock (not the time it takes to wakeup, but the touchscreen response lag)
Having smoother notifications on the status bar, and smoother pulldown menu response
Minimising Launcher lag while Media Scanner is running (can scroll through screens without heavy pauses)
Minimising lag when scrolling through the market while icons are still loading
Installing/Uninstalling apps while continuing other tasks
Minimising/eliminating intermittent lag spikes in gaming
No delay in being able to answer phone calls

Juwe's RAM script:

Yes, you can.
Just set permission same as that of other existing files in that folder and reboot.
i push the all scripts into init.d,delete the old.
reboot to recovery, clear cache and dalvik, fix permission.
then boot to the system,
open the titanium backup it said i didn't have the buybox.
root explorer didn't work.
seem to be i can only flash back

hit the link to jewes tweaks he has videos there. do some multi tasking open up a bunch of apps then open your task manager and see how mch ram your using you should be using far less ram than normal. I have so many apps that run in the background this compilation really helped out with the ram usage and the lags.

For e.g. sysct
If you want to test scripts, there is a app in market "GScript." Get it.

I installed but later removed both the kernel tweak and the sd card tweak. I was getting minor freezes and a fc after hanging up on a call using my bluetooth headset. I already had an sd card tweak, I think, and just removed the kernel tweak on a hunch. Benchmark scores are not that great but everything is back to smooth as butter. Download speeds seem to be down a little, but upload speeds went way up. On simply honey 5.1 with jewe's script (removed that to as I already had it) flashed and the build prop tweaks applied. Just added in the extra tweaks from this thread removing the ones I mentioned.

You can't compare both man. They are completely different scripts...
V6 - is a memory management script. It fixes LMK and OOM values so that apps don't run in background. Soon ultimately this may increase the overall battery.
Slaid - its a better script as it has many different features like smoothness, lag fix, battery tweaks, fast boot, etc. So if u want overall increase in performance... Go for this.
Adrenaline shot - similar to slaid but with some changes in code. Its here in dev section if not, go to Ace dev section and ask the Guy who wrote this to make changes for our mini.
Hope it helped you

Supercharge your GT i9100G!!! V6 Supercharger

**** ONLY FOR GT I9100G***
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
No launcher Redraws...No app drawer lags...Only Pure Performance
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a tutorial to supercharge your android running cm9 with a help of a script known as the V6 Supercharger
Note:
I am not responsible for bricking your phone(if you bricked it means...you are pretty bad at reading)
Neither codeworkx nor zeppelinrox are responsible!!
U r responsible for ur own actions!!!!
Before doing any of these actions...pls read the threads mentioned carefully and try to understand it!!!!
This is an advanced process...bt i wil try and make it simple for you!!
Always remember to take a nandroid backup before flashing anyting or doing advanced process!!! As it may save your phone!!!!!
Read these threads very carefully:
1.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583091
2.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
First all credit goes to
Codeworkx for creating the mighty cm9
Zeppelinrox for creating the awesome V6 super charger script
**Note**
1.This tutorial is only for Samsung galaxy S2 GT i9100G users
2.You should have installed Cyanogen mod 9(ver 20120604) by codeworkx (For instruction check the XDA forum or the given link below)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583091
3.If you were unable to install cm9..tn you cant use the supercharger script as it is only for Deodexed roms!!! Sorry!!
(But if you hav rooted stock ics 4.0.3 you can supercharge upto 50%!!)
4.Go to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276
Read the complete thread and understand what you are doing!!!
5.First Download these things...
a. Script Manager from Google play!!(its free but if u want an ad free ver pay for it)
(Download this app as it can even run scripts at boot time)
b.Download Supercharger script from
Directly from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=993904&d=1334036191
(or)
Download links are in the last of the post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18703418&postcount=5021
Make sure its file name is:
V6_SuperCharger_for_Android-Update9_RC8.2.sh.pdf
As the latest wont work!!!
c.Since you are already in cm9(the latest build i.e 20120603/04) your phone is pre rooted and pre busybox inatalled.
so you dont have to worry abt these things.
Note: Dont install or update the stock busybox on cm9!!
d. Root explorer from google play
Its not free but its very userfriendly!!....(You can use any root explorer app with mounting abilities)
Now you are ready to go!!!!!!!
First Stage:
1.Open the script manager...locate the downloaded V6Supercharger script and open it.
2.Open it as script mode and run it as root mode(Dont run this as Boot mode)
(Only the pirate head must be green)
3.Run it by pressing the run option in the beg!!
4.It starts displaying the v6 animation.
5.Now carefully read each and every line....what it says!!!
6.Choose the options as suitable for you (For beginners and noobs set the scroll speed to slow!!)
7.Since you are running deodexed rom...follow the instructions there and you will end up with Supercharged only 50%)
8.If it asks to reboot and clear your cache memory...do it...if not close the application!! and reboot it!!!
9.Now you have 50% Supercharged....To supercharge 100% you need to follow the below steps!!
Second Stage:
10.Boot up your phone and go to
http://android.mimic.ca/
There upload your services.jar file
It is located in: Root--> System--> Framework--> Services.jar
After uploading....Enter the details of ur mobile and your android os...
It will give you two options!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. One is to download a cwm.zip file and flash it over cm9 in recovery mode
(It did not work for me!!!...i had to reinstall cm9 fresh!! Try your luck!!)
2.Download the changed Services.jar
(Actually it is simple ...but it needs some extra steps!! bt don worry...not that difficult)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11.Replace the original services.jar file with the old one( Mount to read/write mode before replacing)
(Before replacing.... copy the original services.jar to some folder)
12.Now Go to the terminal(Default app in CM9) and type the following
(if the terminal app closes... reboot the phone and try again)
(Press enter after typing each line)
(After the first command su....allow root access for terminal app)
(Do some copy paste activity...if u r bad at using terminal )
su enter
cd /system/framework enter
chown 0.0 services.jar enter
chmod 644 services.jar enter
13.Now you are done with the terminal hence close it.
14.Open Script Manager again and run the script V6Supercharger in root mode only!!
15.Follow the onscreen instructions and in the end you will get display as:
100% Supercharged!!!
Please donate the developers on this site and thank me for sharing the info....
Congrats Now your phone is Supercharged!!!!!
Enjoy the new Performance!!!
If you got any bugs, or did not understand any of the above steps...pls ask me...no probs...we are here for noobs!!..we will help!!
Note:
If you could not follow my instructions...i can give you screenshots.....But try and understand...you aint tht noob ryt??
There are several scripts developed by zippelinrox
1.Die hard Batterycharger
2.3g Turbocharger
3.Kick ass Kernalizer
4.99supercharger
If you want any guidance for the above scripts ping me....
!!!Thank me if i was of any help!!!
Edit 5-6-12
Guys if you are experiencing force clousure of google apps.. Pls rerun d script and in d driver options run fix emissions...
(or)
Go to the created v6 folder and run fix emissions script in root + boot mode!!! ..
Run 99supercharger script in boot+ root mode!!!!
Edit: 5-6-12
How to run scripts in the easiest way!!...Simple make it as widgets!! I knw...easy ryt??
Actually some of u guys asked for a tutorial ....actually there is really not soo much to teach in this...
But...Read on
Note:
Even though you make a widget...you have to upload the service.jar and tn download...n tn terminal commands and ol...(Cz services.jar wil be rewritten each time you apply an update)So it only helps when you are fixed to the rom...i.e When there is a Stable release!!...I just couldn wait to test these scripts ...so i shared with you!!
1.Go to
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm9zLnRvb2xzLnNtd2lkZ2V0cyJd
Install the Script manager widgets
2.Now go to the app drawer and tn to the widgets menu....there search for SMWidgets...place it on to the desktop
3.Add one script widget---->...u find a lot of scripts there and select the V6 script....
4.The widget is created...so now you can run the V6 right from the widget....
5.There are many scripts options and you can try em out!!!...but beware of the mods...these are dangerous as they are system mods!!!
And for guys not experiencing the Supercharger.....
To experience it completely...
You gotta install V6 ...Supercharge to 100%...tn install 3G turbocharger.....Make Fix emission to run at boot...Make 99supercharger to run at boot...tn instal KickAssKernalizer...tn run Powershifts as widgets according to your wish...run 1 shot bullet-proof launchers...and enable timings for engine flushings (auomatic)
So if you do all the above process tn u can experience the performance...Nw its difficult and time consuming process to do alll the things i said....Because there will be nightly releases cm9 almost everyday ....and these settings will get deleted when you flash a cm9 update...so wait for a stable release ...i have just talked about the supercharger because its the main and covers abt 50%...So i jus wanted you guys to experience some better performance!!
Note:
Installing these settings scores you less in Anututu Benchmark. But as Codeworkx said....benchmarks are for kids...You are not here to race against points shown by an app....These things make your CM9 integrate with the system better....Therefore these scripts are there to comfort you!!! The real magic is CM9 and remember these scripts are just addons!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
No launcher Redraws...No app drawer lags...Only Pure Performance

CM9 updates and v6 SC
Hey, sorry this is probably a pretty n00b question, but I'm a n00b so what else can be expected?
Does flashing the new updates of CM9 effect this script at all? Basically do I have to re-run v6 supercharger every time I update to the newest CM9 nightly or is this script not at all effected by the updates?
Thanks in advance.
When I type cd/system/framework then enter
it shows sh: ch/system/framwork: not found
The following line also the same. What is the problem?

Put a space after the cd. So it should be "cd /system/framework" not "cd/system/framework"
If you type it exactly like it is above it should work.

Did you face the google apps forced close thing? I have this problem. I copy and paste the downloaded service.jag to the system/framework folder. After that, when I open terminal, type su => enter then it auto restart my phone. I restored my phone, try second time. The same thing. Everytime also su=> enter then auto restart. After restart then shows forced close to my google. Anybody know what is the problem?
Any other successful user to post their experience after supercharged?

[TWEAKS] Script for Speed/Battery/IO Scheduler and Governor changer

Hi everybody!
I've compiled a script with a few tweaks based on knzo post
This works on CM7, should work on stock also!
I've also added to the script a few lines to change the IO Scheduler and governor. You just have to edit the attachment (unzip it first ) and remove the "#" before the line you want to apply (I've just add the lines depending if you have CM7's stock kernel or huexxx kernel, but you can edit for any kernel, you just have to edit for the governor/io schedulers available or just leave that lines commented).
# change Governor
# Huexxx's kernel
# echo interactivex > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor;
# change IO Scheduler
# CM7's kernel
# echo "noop" > /sys/block/mmcblk0/queue/scheduler;
# Huexxx's kernel
# echo "sio" > /sys/block/mmcblk0/queue/scheduler;
.....
After this, do this steps:
1 - Install SManager
2 - Open SManager and go to the script, I put it in /data/script
3 - Single click the script "74diogo" and check "Su" and "Boot" and then save.
4 - Just reboot.
Note: It could take a minute or two to change the governor in Cyanogenmod settings.
That is it!
Feel free to leave to give your feedback
By the way... When I changed the default governor via CM settings and applied at boot, the phone becomes very slow in the first minute after boot...
Changing the governor with this script, that slow performance disappears
Also, you can activate JIT, use 16 bit transparency and disable scrolling cache (force disable) for a little speed and smooth...
I get a lot of not found errors is that normal? And also a lot of permission denied.

Yeah. You should choose the option "boot" and "su" and reboot. The settings will apply.
You can't change some values while the system is running... that is why there are those errors.
Thank you for your help. I get it now. But can we use a other scripts like v6supercharger and should we expect any improvements from them if we already have this script?

Yeah, it is possible. v6supercharger could change some values that this script change. Try both
I guess both at the same time won't work right?

It should work. I don't see why not
Did you notice any difference using my script?
I did actually, Cm7 was already pretty smooth but at boot up after the script manager gets root permission it loads a lot faster than before, by this I mean that the starting lag lasts a lot less. As for general use it works great but it also worked great before so I can't really tell. I noticed an improved battery performance too.
So all in all it's great

Why? Do you have any suggestion?
You can push that values in a file an add them to init.d folder and by this way removing the use of script manager. My two cents.

I should work!
Just have to edit (or don't use) the lines to change the governor and IO scheduler.
To edit, just put the name of the desired (and available) governor and IO Scheduler
