Help me to decide - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i am writing in order to ask you a question about samsung galaxy note buying. Past several years i am using samsung galaxy ace, and i would really like to buy a new phone. Is the difference between those two phones big? I love web browsing, videos waching, taking photos, gaming. So should i buy samsung galaxy note or should i keep my galaxy ace? P.S. sorry for my english i am from Lithuania.

dude get the Galaxy Note, The galaxy ace is decent...................If you live in the 60's !!!
But on a side note, If you have lived with the Ace for so long, Maybe you should wait a little longer and buy the Note 2 - it should be out the end of this year!

Thanks for your advice !! Probably i will wait till the note 2 comes out

It is really difficult to compare scooter and car !

Toffee Or Chocolate ?
Its up to u what tastes u more....

Galaxy Note all the way! This device is for games,movies,photos,internet,gps... and it comes with a big screen for better comfort! 1 thing before buying, go to a store and try one to see if you find it comfortable in your hands because some people have small hands and may find the Note unsuitable or too heavy for them. Just try it before.....

I already tryied note in the store, but s pen was broken, the screen wasnt responsive, and sensitive buttons wasnt working too, so i couldnt get an opinion about this device, becouse it was semi-defective, but screen size was perfect for me and my hands

The last update for asia was august. Pretty much acceptable for an 'old' model. If you sell your tab please inform us;-) . Anyway decision is entirely up to you.
Me when they stop overcome for the tab 7 it's time to get rid od it.

you must be crazy, the gtab is pawning all tegra 2 tablets so hard when it comes to playing hd movies its not even funny anymore, it came to a point where I wish I was able to scream and shout (with vulgarities included) at the dicko from Nvidia who came up with that incredibly stupid processor.
for myself , i bought the galaxy tab 10.1 3g , and i still have my gtab use it as a phone xD
I just bought one after lots of research into 7" tabs. I think it's the best 3G tab on the market still. What other 7" tabs can compare to it?

I don't see what difference development makes, if it fills your needs for a tablet, why sell it? If it doesn't fill your needs for a tablet, why wouldn't you? Mine still fills it's role just fine and it still fits in my pocket...a leading reason why I still have it and my iPad was stolen.
I just bought mine (seven days ago) because still it's one of the best tablets..for me at least..
I needed tablet which will suport ALL video formats and this little guy is doing that perfectly..
Only time whan I will consider replacing it, is when 7.7" comes out.. (but I think that price will be ridiculous, so..) because of SAMOLED and as far as I can see i don't have that retarded Tegra crap..
PS.
Only thing I would like to know is - Can we expect Ice Cream for our P1000?
If the galaxy tab had a keyboard dock like the transformer, I'd keep it for a long time

As I recall from somewhere I read, Samsung / Google guarantee that android device would get at least 2 OS updates
since we didnt get honeycomb, i think even Samsung will give ICS for us 7 tab owner
especially if the other smartphone that starts with froyo with roughly same specs can get ICS maybe, why wouldn't we?

Upgrade from galxy s2, worth it?

I can upgrade myself to galaxy note by adding about 50 $...
Should I do it? Is it worth it?

Depends on what you want to do with it. Do you need the extra screen real estate, do you have use for the stylus. What I did? I went to a shop and played a while with the note. Tried the stylus, the extra software that comes with it, the new calendar and most of all...the size of the device. I decided to buy the Note because it was more productive than my S2. Keep in mind that the Note feels a little slower than a S2.
No one else can make the decision for you...you have to give it a try yourself, if possible.
On the stylus issue.. Anyway I can link it up to a pc?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
try it out. Its mostly an yes but there are few no's too...
IF u get it make sure u use it for a few weeks. ( I hope they have 1 month return policy if u dint like it. ) The size does need getting used to. But once that is done, its an amazing device
Theres another thread around here with alot of post. Check it out.

Size is the biggest factor. You will look an idiot making calls in public there is no denying that, also it is more sluggish then s2. In my estimate bit like the original gs.
Buil is cheap and feels plasticky similar to s2.
You can get a bluetooth to avoid ever holding the phone against your ear in public or use the hands free kit.
Screen resolution is brilliant as surfing the net. Watching YouTube, videos, camera and video recording is brilliant. the best I have seen in this regards.
Has sd card slot another pro.
I would also suggest wait for upcoming HTC devices which will inmho more suitable and practical.
If you plan to use it as a media player I would consider holding off for now. Also not a lot of people can stand the grainy display a pentile has over an RGB stripe.. Better check the actual unit out before deciding.

I upgraded from the Galaxy S2 too. Both are great phones but the Note wins because of it's size. Worth upgrading definitely.

I just got my white Galaxy Note today and from the second that I opened the box, I was in love.
This thing is beautiful; its light, the screen is incredible, the stylus is practical and it's very fast.
I was really worried about upgrading from the SGS2, thinking that it would be a "SGS2 XL" but the overall experience is something completely new.
Only my opinion, obviously but I highly doubt you'll be disappointed
Sent from my Galaxy Note using Tapatalk
It's definitely worth it. You get used to it easily. It has all the features you need and battery lasts way more than Galaxy S2 with a proper kernel.
I've got them both and I could say that Sgs2 is smoother definitely but Galaxy Note form factor is amazing and the screen, apart from the black clipping and the banding that I hope Supercurio will solve with his app, is tremendous brilliant and clear for an easy reading.
The S-Pen is nice also but a little bit inaccurate when you write oin the screen.
If Ics will improove the snappiness and solve the screen issues it will be a monster for sure but for the moment I keep also Sgs2 with me everytime because it is a more supported phone by the community and also because, with the right modding, its battery is endless.
Hope it will help in your choice
I love my Note. It's big, at first, but now I find the S2, which my girlfriend has, too cramped and feel the Note as a normal size. Sure, it's less snappy than the S2, but that's no problem for me, cause it's still fast. And with ICS coming, it's bound to be even faster. I don't say either one is better, the Note has more to offer for me with the bigger real estate and stylus.
You'll have to make your own choice, but if I had to choose again, I would definately go for the Note again! You can wait for (even) better phones to come out, but whatever you do, better phones will come out whatever you choose. Enjoy the moment.

As what others have mentioned it depends on your usage, I was a short time Galaxy S2 user but I ended up returning it due to defects. I also had a chance to get to use the Galaxy Note for 7 days and noticed that it was not playing my media properly which is not acceptable for a device that is marked for 'HD', I believe that topic is extensively discussed here. But I really did like the device as I didnt need to bring my tablet along with me, size is absolutely perfect even for my small-ish hands, if ICS fixes the issue I'll probably get one back and ditch my tablet.

I am coming from an SGS2; I'd say definitely yes -- the screen + hardware is sweet. Can't go back...
I had HUGE reservations in getting Note due to it's size but I eventually took the plunge because of my smartphone addiction.
Out of all the high end handsets I have had this year (Sensation XL, Titan, Nexus Galaxy, SG2, Note, Iphone 4S), I must admit Note is my favourite.
It does have it's issues but so does every other handset out there.

There is an artical on the portal at the moment, but i would say its down to size realy no matter the spec.
If you are very physical or have tight jeans among other factors i would stick with the S2
I think the note has quite sharper images than the s2 which i used to dread for..

Galaxy Note or Galaxy S3?

Hey everyone,
I was wondering which phone you think I should get. I currently have the HTC EVO 3D but I think I want to try out Samsung for at least a year. I have pretty big hands, so the Note wouldn't be too big for me. Should I wait for Sprint's Galaxy Note, or Sprint's Galaxy S3? Thanks!

I went for G note in the end
I had the GS2 and had the exact same diliema of choice. I saw the GS3 on Friday and I think that it is really good and worth having a look at. I decided in the end to go for the note and I am very happy with the decision. The note is just so versatile and the extra size is a real blessing. Basically the note offers a flexibility that no other device has out there.
I would really have a good test drive on both phones because the GS3 is still quite amazing.
wait for GS3 IMO.but then again the choice is yours

hopefully the galaxy s3 for sprint comes out by july. if not, then I think waiting for the galaxy note for sprint would be a better thing to do.

SGS3 is superior to Note in every aspect except the screen size. Larger screen size is not a simple flavor tho. Everybody agrees once u get used to it u can never go back to anything under 5,3" . So if you could wait then wait for GNote 2 but there is no release date for now. And if you can't wait get both phones in your own hands and decide if you can settle down with smaller screen size. If you can settle with 4,8" then go for SGS3 with no hesitation. Otherwise i have no clear suggestion left to make as it's a tough decision. You can search youtube for SGS3 & GNote comparasion. 4,8" doesn't sound small compared to 5,3" but when u see both of them next to each other you will recognise only 0,5" makes huge difference

I am using both Galaxy S2 and Note. I use the Note more because of the big screen. If you prefer large screen then the Note is better. If not then the SG3 is better.

Sell or not to sell my gnote?

The question is how much to sell it and worth to sell it and buy the galaxy s3 or wait for note 2?

Personal preference really..
I could not go back to a smaller screen now I don't think so rules the S3 out..
Screen is much MUCH smaller when you use s3, especially bc it is 16:9.
If you do not have black clipping issue on your Note, I advise you to stick to it forever
Save this image and open it in galery. If you see numbers below 11, you have a black clipping issue. It is TOLERABLE if you see 8. Below 8: sell it
you are in the Galaxy Note section so people will tell you to keep the Note. on the other hand i have used the Note for a while and just recently switched to the S3. i say give the S3 a shot as it will last around 2 years or so and you won't have to change phones. the screen isn't THAT small. its still a pretty big handset compared to the general population of smartphones out there. personally i like it and if i need to watch something on a bigger screen i'd use my Galaxy Tab 7.7 or LED TV for that. but for a "phone" the S3 is pretty good, i love the camera it responds faster than the Note or any older model (even if you can use Fast Burst Camera, the quality of the S3 is far better due to the quadcore making it faster to process images in a jiffy). but if you're on a budget, the Note will serve you well for quite some time. screen wise it is still a SAMOLED display and it is still big.
i on the other hand, will be waiting for the Note 2 and will stick with my S3 at the same time (i have 2 carriers in use so its a win-win)
goodluck in deciding my friend. oh and if you decide to sell, sell it now because time will depreciate ALL values of phones. no phone will ever stick with its price tag. remember that
When you compare S3 screen with a 4.3 16:10 it is practically the same. I sold my Note and wanted to buy HoX or SIII but the screen is much smaller then Note and I will probably buy note again if I find one without a black clipping issue. I had htc HD2 before Note and I can say that the transition to s3 is minimal (comparing the screen sizes). Moreover, the screen on hd2 looks, and probably is, wider. Who likes big screens and had a Note will never buy any phone below it. I also have to add that Note is more towards a tablet than phone. But it is a pleasure to use. And I do not get the thing you said "if you are on a budget, the Note...". It is ~60 euros cheaper than S3, what the hell are you talking about? If that's "on a budget", than you must be a rich rich man

hahaha, sorry about that probably
the Note is nice, it served me well for quite some time. but my G-Tab 7.7 kinda rendered it useless. i'm not that much of an S-Pen user so maybe that's why i gave up on the Note easily.
for people who want to use their phone as something all in one, and want the big screen without caring about the quadcore and fast camera, yes to the Note. i mean i haven't even reached a point where i have to use all 4 cores of my S3, so dual core is still good. but c'mon, Note 2 will be exquisite, i'm expecting it to make my S3 obsolete so i won't have too many smartphones in hand.
EDIT: i know why i said that part, the Note is a whole lot cheaper in my country compared to the S3. the S3 here is around $680 while the Note is around $470. (had to calculate everything and convert hehehe)

also i am wondering about the development section on s3 because with the note section i am very happy with it.
I agreed with people say when you are using a big screen, you won't go back to small screen.
Note 2 have 5.5" screen and quad-core CPU. Hardware prices going down very quickly, personally, I would recommend your friend to wait for Note 2, and you stick onto SGN until it is worn out, probably there will be Note 3 by that time. ^.^

Have to replace my loved Note 4 - Need a case with a holding for my Stylus/Pen

Hey xda!
i am using a Note 4 (more or less). It restarts all the time and its basically unusable. I need to replace it and thats a big problem. There is no real alternative out there. The think is i really love the stylus with all its functions.. I love to write down little notes which makes my life so convenient! I know that you cant compare the screen of the note 4 with the oneplus 3. But i think (and hope) that it should be enough for writing stuff down. I dont draw stuff or do other things with the stylus... i just write stuff in my head down.. The oneplus (no matter which one) should be good enough for that, right?
So.. what i am hopping to find here is advice were i can find a case to store my stylus/pen.
Please guys! Help me to find such a thing.. I cant be the only one!

Not necessarily. I want to use the oneplus as a Note 4 supplement. If the Stylus from my note 4 works, fine. If not ill buy one which fits my needs. Since the oneplus doesnt have the function to attache a stylus the case has to do the job.

Okay.. First things first.. No the stylus won't work whatsoever, different tech for screen.. You're better off with a note 5 if you love note taking or wait for the note 8...
If you do want a stylus on the op3, you would need to get a capacitive stylus which is not as accurate or flexible in terms of functionality like the Samsung ones.. You should look at what they are and how they function..
If you do want to get one, a few of the capacitive ones will have a strap that you can attach to cases..

thank you My Problem with Samsung is that i completely lost trust into there devices. First the Note7 disaster and now my own phone goes bonkers and restarts all the time. As far as i know new Note 4s or 5s wont get assembled. And i really dont want to buy a used phone. The Note 4 i have right now was a used phone and i regret my decision every day.
However, yes, i saw the offers with line-attached stylus/pen. I think you have to put it were the headphone jack is, right?! But thats not really what i am looking for. I use my headphones very regulary and i think that would annoy me over time.
First i thought it cant be to hard to kinda make a handbutchered note-ish device myself. But i get the feeling that its much harder than i thought. The Note Fanbase isnt that small.. I am not the only one who is looking for alternatives.... Why arent companys seeing this?!

If I'm not mistaken the note 5 is still a pretty Good device, if you want you can get a second hand one.. If you wanna push your note 4 for a bit longer till the new one why not install a samsung based rom on it.. There's plenty on the note 4 forum..
I'm not sure about a stylus that goes inside the jack because from what I know most of the capacitive styluses are thicker than the jack.. I meant like the one with a strap that you can attach to a cover/case like those charms that people use..
Can't really fault Samsung for the n7 thing though..

I am already using a Custom Rom. Its my 3th ROM. The Problem i have is described here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/note-4-freezing-restarting-t3348821 It is not 100% sure if its a Soft- or Hardware problem. I think my Note 4 is pretty much dead. Since im on Note 4 (which i bought used) that only makes problems, i am a bit sceptical when it comes to buying a new (bought) mobile phone :/ But i appreciate your effort to help me!

I really really love the Note Series but from my POV its hard to trust Samsung again... Its maybe not fair from me because i dont know the real reasons for the burningnote7. But that.. and my broken note4 is enough to keep me on distance from samsung for a while. ....I still think its strange that its so hard to find a cases with a stylus holding for the op3. Maybe i am doing it by myself http://www.pocketables.com/2013/03/from-the-diy-drawer-accessory-attachment-system-for-cases.html
The thing is that in OP3/3T: a) you spend 100 dollars on a wacom stylus that has some functionalities (not even close to the ones Samsung is giving, just some "mouse click" options), b) you get an adonit which is precise but has little to none extra functionalities, c) every other option out there is just a replacement of your finger: 0 accuracy, 0 functionalities.
Seriously, if you are one of these few stylus note users, stick to samsung. Sadly, little to none other possibilities.
I've been a note user since the note 2. Had the 3, the 4 the 10.1, note pro 12.2, and the new chromebook plus.
While I love my note devices, I sold my note 4 for an axon 7 and also bought a oneplus 3 and do not miss that much about my note. The speed of the oneplus 3 is fantastic in comparison to the note 4.
I miss being able to pull out the s pen to do math problems, but that's what I have the chromebook plus for. ?
