Hey there
Is it possible to get Root and ROM on HTC Desire C? maybe a CM9 thing? or a stock rom with tweeks?
Thanks in advance!
A quick google finds this: http://www.modaco.com/topic/355158-r1-superboot-how-to-root-the-htc-desire-c/
You need to unlock your bootloader via the HTCdev site first.
I was hoping to find a better rom than the garbage preloaded on this. I found Nova launcher helps a lot but I don't know why anyone would want sense on a device. CM9 or AOKP would be pretty great right about now.
My Nexus and GS2 are both in for repair so I picked this up for $100. For the price I guess I can't really complain too much.
its a quite new phone, if this phone gets some developers i will probably buy it

I just picked up the Desire C from Virgin (Canada) and I am pleasantly surprised with its responsiveness running at 600mhz. If we could ditch the Sense it could have a ton of potential.

There is no even custom rom, so it will take some time to get at least something custom on it...
Ugh, I hate being a newb on a forum. And yes, I watched the newb video, and I totally get the 10 post rule. I'm not a guru, and I'm not (technically) a newb either. I just have a few simple questions about the Desire C, and I am searching the forums so I don't have to piss anyone off with useless questions that have already being answered.
That being said, it seems like there hasn't been a lot done on the Desire. I've already bootloader unlocked and rooted mine, and I'm in the process of downloading Nameless Rom 2.2 and I'm going to install that when it's done...
I just want to ask one simple question without sounding totally dumb: Will installing a new ROM change the CID? I've been looking into SuperCID but I'm not sure if it supports this phone or not. I'm not JUST trying to network unlock the phone, I'm trying to learn more about Android and mods in general. MY experience ends about a year ago, when I started dating a girl and my computer time slowly diminished... so my knowledge has gotten rusty. I was surprised to see Android 4 ... last time I ROM'd a phone it was to upgrade my friend's phone from 2.1 to 2.2 if I remember correctly.
Anyway, I hope this doesn't get deleted. I really am trying to look through the posts to see if there's more info but it's 8AM and I'm still awake.

The best rom for Desire C is Nameless 2.0.2 by einstein.frat. It boosts the performance, I noticed an increase of speed on my nds4droid!

So, I was wondering with the HTC Incredible out for Verizon right now, would it be easier to port Sense over from that to the N1 than from the Desire since they share many of the same parts? I know the Desire port is almost fully functional, but missing some things, would the same occur with the port from the Incredible. Or does it matter that it's CDMA?
I would love to have Sense on my Nexus, but these questions are moreso just me trying to get my head around how this port thing works.
N1 has more things in common with desire than incredible.
Aside from a few minor hardware differences (physical buttons, no noise cancelling mic) the desire is basically the same phone as the N1 but with different software and a non unlockable bootloader.
you should be saying HD2 port to incredible or visaversa

It would be more difficult since the N1 is closer to the Desire than the Incredible. Also, the Desire rom has already been available for months.

Why not try the Desire rom that's available now?
Starting from square 0 on Incredible would mean a port that's less functional than the Desire rom for at least many months.
Good info to know. I have no idea why I thought the Incredible was closer than the Desire... me being stupid apparently...lol. And I do plan on trying the Desire port, my N1 just arrived today. I will keep it stock for a bit just to make sure it doesn't have any of those pesky issues that can be fixed via warranty, but I'll get the itch to root and ROM it soon enough. My FUZE didn't last very long before I did so... I doubt this will either...haha.

Though I do wonder, if the Incredible's version of Sense is a newer/updated version of the UI, then would we expect to see those changes implemented in the Desire? Hence making another version of the ROM closer to what the Incredible has.
I'm assuming somebody will release the Incredible ROM more to make the current Sense ROM better.
Just a guess...
Ice cream sandwich looks so nice. I can't wait to have it on my incredible S. What are you most looking forward to having on your device?

yes we didn't.
The IS was launched just one month before the Desire S, it did not get Sense 3.0 and has been abandoned by HTC because of which this is probably my last HTC phone.
such a shame as we dont thinki we will get ics anymore too

Not sure I get your gripe, the phone is over a year old. It's time for you to take responsibility and flash it.
Let's forget about ICS for a while. According to our sources we have a sense 3.0 rom with 2.3.5. coming in December. I would be happy to grab that. I have a feeling that we are not gonna get an official ICS rom at all.
Don't want to flash. Been there, done that with my hd2 million times, there were always glitches and stupid bugs. Don't want to waste my time, warranty on custom roms on incS. Does a perfect bugfree out of the box like sense 3.0 rom exist for our device? Love the sense ui, so not big fan of cm.

Sense made my phone laggy and have terriable battery life. Why would I want that.
Cm7 is more like an iPhone. Battery is better although not quite as good as my friends iPhone 3gs that has 80% battery left at the end of the day on ios 5.
I agree. Why bother with official ROM's when year has passed - no warranty anyway. I get 5 days of battery life with CM7.

Sense is only good if you like getting loads of updates from Facebook.
we should be getting ICS update for sure ans some phones listed out by HTC are older versions than ours..also tried the ICS rom by galinet miui but somehow it does not go past the bootup screen..
Using cm nightlies and I don't see what the big deal is about ics... I'm not sure what else I want my phone to do that it doesn't do already. I can phone and text, send picture messages, browse the web, use torrent, watch movies, connect to a printer, feed other devices using the portable hotspot, play snes, nintendo, n64, sega, gameboy, game gear, take photos, record video in hd, use gps and navigation install any app I want and control my bell pvr while I'm taking a crap. What else is it I need?

that's one way of looking at it but i think you are missing the point. from what i've read, ics is supposed to enhance the android experience. in other words, add more polish and improve the look and the feel of the operating system. what you are referring to is hardware capabilities and app functionalities.
if I can have the same functionalities in a more polished package, I would at least want to give it a go.

that's a known bug with the new release. there's a workaround for that: you have to flash the weekly (non-ics) version first, let it boot up, reboot into recovery then flash the ics version on top. or you can just flash the previous release (v1.11.9). it's been flawless for me.
Hi Folks,
I've had the HTC Desire C for a while now, and have tried a few different ROMS to date. I'm currently running Nameless 5.03 on it (a bit old, i know)
I have a couple of questions really.
Ok, first off, what is the fastest, most stable ROM for this phone, as lately it's slowness has become annoying.
(I haven't tried overclocking yet or any of the other optimizations (scripting), but I'm willing to go there if i can't get a decent result with a ROM.)
Secondly, I've noticed in the music app, there are little interruptions sometimes with the smoothness of the music, which is annoying. I then check Task Manager and there is lots of crap running in there. I close most of it.. but later on it's runnig again.
Is it safe to remove these apps/packages altogether (I'm assuming it as, as the phone runs perfectly without them running)
And lastly, is there a ROM out there that is mostly stirpped down with all of these crapps removed already. I suppose what I'm trying to achieve is a streamlined and as fast as possible phone, without all the crapps.?
All answers welcome.. cheers! :good:

R: [Q] Fastest, most stable Peared-Down ROM
I'm running revolution De-Sene rom, and it's a bit faster than nameless because it's without sense (which make the phone slower). Anyway, nameless 7 is more stable and faster than nameless 5, but I didn't tried slim sense yet, maybe it's better than these...

slim sense is not better than revolution, because it's older and is still in 1.0.
the dev has left the forum and the rom hasn't had any bugfixes yet. i wouldnt suggest even trying slim sense

Sense is hard-coded into the Revolution base. It's not without Sense, sure, Sense launcher is not its default and it's made to look AOSP-ish, but it's still Sense.
For the record, I'm using the latest Nameless now and I'm happy with it.
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to move onto Nameless 7.x today and give it a shot.
Think I will try the OC'd kernel too and might have a play with some of the scripts etc. if i get time.

In all honesty speed wise theres no difference in my eyes between all the major roms .
Pick which rom appeals to you , oc it with the kernel that works best with your rom and then strip the guts out of the rom after installation . Thats delete all the crap that comes on these phones.
Then you will have a fast rom
IF you enjoy listening to music then imho Revolution> Nameless by quite a margin IF you install Kingbeatz . As Kingbeatz > all those awful beats mods that are on nameless .
If you do follow my suggested route delete Apollo music player and use your favourite one as it can be quite buggy. Just be sure to try Apollo first to get an indication of the sq that is achievable . Then try your fav player and see if Kingbeatz actually works with it .
Just ask in the thread and I'll hepl if I can or Russ will otherwise .
Hope this helps
all the best
richard
Just wanted to say I'm running Russell's Revolution rom with the 800 oc'd kernel and it's great. The phone has never been smother. I'm a happy camper!

Hi all,
It's been a while since I joined the modding fray - my last attempts were with the ZTE Blade a couple of years ago!
My fiancée owns an HTC Desire C but finds it to be really slow. I initially tried installing a custom launcher, but this had barely any effect.
What's the best option here? Do I just install a kernel and overclock, or should I consider a custom rom? If so - whats fastest and most stable? This is a one time thing - I plan on abducting the phone and having a tweak, but won't be allowed to swap rooms and things repeatedly, so I need to get it right the first time!!!!
Thanks
Flash CM10 (there are sam bugs , like wifi hotspot but its fastest) and nope/prometheus kernel... and some tweaks like superboost and adrenaline engine
... just do all steps

Im sorry but sense is by far not as fast as CM10.
There is no such thing as "the best rom" but according to the benchmarks and clock potential, CM10 beats sense.
So any rom that is CM10 based is good.
I agree. I had barely done any modding but the leap in speed and ease of use really makes flashing a cm10 variant worth it.
Best ROM threads are not allowed. Try out the roms and use the one that suits your needs best
Hi People,
Finally I have decided to move on from my beloved HTC Incredible S which has been my companion for more than 2 years now and I chose HTC One to be its successor (Yeah I am a HTC Fanboy so my obvious choice was HTC itself). But there are couple of questions that I would like to get answers to before I zero in on it.
1. If I get a HTC One Sense Version, is it easy to install the Google Edition ROM on it? because I love switching roms often and like Latest Updates on my phone just to experience it
2. How is the future of this handset? I am asking it because, my Incredible S had begun with GingerBread and now with awesome developers, I can install KitKat in it too Thats a whole long journey on it.. Just wanted to know if the hardware and processor is future proof because after spending wholesome money on it, I dont want it to get stuck at kitkat
I checked the forum and found that there are whole lot of ROMs available for HTC One and I am excited to go for it. So any guidance here would be wonderful
1. Wouldn't say it was easy. Just be sure to do your research. Read all the relevant topics and so everything exactly as detailed. Here's just one of the many threads you should read.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358781
2. Apparently stock sense will be supported until next major release 4.5 or 5.
Custom ROMs will go well beyond that I'm sure. Don't know where official gpe support will end.

Oh the Google Edition will be supported max till 2 updates eh? Didnt know that..
Also, why I was asking because, even if official souce code was stopped by HTC.. Devs had developed kernels from scratch and kept the In credible S Alive.. I would love the same happening here..
Any devs who can give info
Didn't say that. Said sense will be supported to either 4.5 or 5. Whichever comes first. I.e. one more big release.
GPE anyone know? Will it follow the nexus 18 month support?

Does anyone know how long will GPE be supported by google? Is it same as current nexus??
BTW, There is an Indian Variant of HTC One.. One which has Dual Sim and seems like Single SIM HTC Ones have stopped for no reason :/
Will the custom Firmware of this Single Sim Ones work on that?? Or there is a separate forum for that?
