Google Play speed difference - HTC Incredible S

I just got an Incredible S after an update from iPhone 3gs, I liked it very much. I had seen an HTC Desire HD with Cyanogenmod on it and I really like it because the stock HTC ROM was too boring and non-happening. After deciding to root my device and installing Cyanogenmod 7.2 on my device, I was really impressed of it's performance but then again I found that there are much better ROMs than the Cyanogenmod ROM and decided to go with Virtuous Quattro ROM but after finding out about the camera issues, I went with Virtuous Vivo ROM (back to the stock app drawer )
During the conversions, I noticed speed differences for Google Play (aka Android Market). While on Cyanogenmod, it was too slow, searching applications, opening the application, waiting for the "Accept and Install" window would take ages. I thought it was meant to be like this but after switching to Virtuous ROMs, I noticed they won't take any time at all. I found searching, opening and downloading applications to be very fast, faster than the Cyanogenmod ROM. Everything is now just a click away.
I was wondering if it was a problem with the ROM or something else because I really want to switch back to Cyanogenmod but the Google Play speed is just a let down. If the problem is with the ROM, are there any solutions or something to it?
Thanks.

I guess it's not because of the ROM. It's just the difference in the version of the app from Gingerbread to ICS

Virtuous for the win

It's called, get a phone with better hardware
The Hero just isn't built to run that kind of stuff unless it's really really dumbed down version of the original.
Good luck
Try PureHero out -

There's also an update needed for that rom -

Awesome that did the trick.

Impression of New Android 2.3.4 (Just a suggestion)

Hi guys,
I am not sure who else on this forum also has a Nexus S / One but I have just upgraded my Nexus One to Android 2.3.4... it seems that they have changed some things in the OS so that screen scrolling/panning is significantly smoother. I am not sure what it is they have fixed yet, it could be something that is N1 specific.
First thing that I noticed was the scrolling/panning in the stock browser is now a lot smoother, especially one of the sites that I always found slow: http://www.tsn.ca. I was so fed up with the stock browser so I ended up using Opera. I have tested it again today with the stock browser this scrolling/panning lag seems to be fixed! Another app that I found lagging was the official Facebook app. It used to be really slow when I scrolled down but it's not doing that anymore.
The reason that I am bringing this up because I have noticed the same issue with the Nook (running CM7.0.2 which is the latest stable) and I am hoping the Nook will get the same performance boost later! Thanks to all the developers who have been working hard on making tweaks for the Nook and I am looking forward to seeing 2.3.4 on the Nook when the ASOP is released.
Thanks!

Good ROM for Hero?

Hey All,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm tired of the version 2.1 stock ROM for the Sprint Hero. Even when its rooted and I clean out all the bloatware its still sluggish, buggy, and it has lately been aggravating me to no end. I want a nice lightweight ROM that has everything working (radio, wifi, data, etc.) but I don't want the HTC Sense UI if possible. Also, if it could have built in wifi tether (because all the apps I've used on the stock ROM tend to lock up or reboot the device) that would be great. Also, Apps2SD would also be nice but not a requirement.
Can someone recommend a good one?
Thanks in advance!

you are posting in the way wrong section this would have been better suited in general or Q&A
but my recommendation for you would be CM7 the official release for the HeroC, its stock android with some flavor. good battery life, apps2sd supported via built in manager (added in 2.2). built in tethering in the device settings menu (AOSP 2.3 feature) and last but not least it's AOSP based so SenseUI is nowhere to be found
I have tried all and in my mind the fastest has been hero deck. I even turned down my MHz to 691 when I use to have it at 768.

Deck's rom is fast....No doubt, but.....if you're looking for a blend of speed and stability I'd listen to ThoughtlessKyle and go with CM7. That is what I put back on my Hero for my son to use.

I'll definitely look into both ROMs. Thanks for the help!
My stock rom ran into issues the other day. Force close loop on senseui or something. Basically required a factory reset so while I was at it I decided to put a new rom on. I went with CM7. Had done a bunch of reading in the past and everyone was using CM6 then. Its nice. The one thing I didnt like is the voicemail. Getting it setup to download my voicemails to the phone was kinda a pain and the annoying texts from 9016 get old quick. Not sure why there is no solution for this. And running a separate program to block messages from 9016 isnt really a solution in my opinion.
I hear that deck rom has voicemail working with no additional installation/config necessary and none of the 9016 text messages so I plan to give it a try.

[Q] Reccomendation for quickest ROM?

After playing with the Xperia S a few days ago I want to sort my phone out finally (hasn't been properly setup in ages).
At the moment I'm running "DarkyRom JVQ V10.2" with kernal "2.6 35.7 #DarkCore_2.9.2_JVQ".
My battery life is fine (needs to be recalibrated though) but it's still a bit laggy, no idea if I have lagfixes.
I would like ICS if it'll enable it to be snappy/quick but not really bothered as I don't believe there's any major thing in there for me over gingerbread. The other thing is I'd like to always have the buttons in the notification bar if possible (stuff like GPS/Wifi/auto rotate), think I will be using the GO launcher based on playing with a friends. I also like customisation, stuff like notifcation bar icons, colours etc.
Any ideas or pointers to the right place? I don't need a big tutorial just a pointer to the right place would be fine, also a bit stuck with some of the tutorials I've looked at as they all seem to have so many ways and just reference "flash this kernal" without actually showing how/pointing to the right direction.
Thanks.
EDIT: I've done a bit of research and I like the look of AOKP (Kang project). It seems to have the most features and be the most solid ROM. What kernal should I use though?
Aokp with semaphore or devil kernel.

Try slim ICS 2.8
Been on it for the last week coming from Team ICSSGS RC4.2. Loving it, very responsive
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488096&page=1
Also if you insist staying on GB try Juwe's rom, haven't been updated or ages though but it ran well for me while I was still on it
I personally prefer using the GamerzRom. Although the name is kinda misleading, it is a good ROM for a daily driver.
Its faster than most ROM's I've played around with. Not too graphic heavy and I use it for my App development testing and for business purposes. All in all, it's fast, responsive and snappy.

[Q] ? CyanogenMod 11.0 or DModV6 ?

hey guys,
so i'm currently on DModV6 and am wondering if there are benefits of switching to CyanogenMod 11.0 ?
Although DModV6 greatly improved gaming lag on my device, it still exists So my question is does CyanogenMod 11.0 completely remove gaming (and other) lags on my galaxy s3 mini ? Thanks in advance for sharing your experience with these two custom roms Cheers
Hi @koragg97. I suggest you to try CM 11.0. You'll gain a lot of benefits if you're into games. Last week I missed the in-out indicator of data connenection on Samsung stock ROM, so I searched the forum and found DModV6 which is a ROM based on stock. I decided to flash it. After I used it for an hour, tried many HD games and apps, it gave me lags in games and entering to apps is a little slow than CM 11.0 so I had to go back to CM 11.0. Anyway CM 11.0 is not stable yet, you might face some problem like black screen in some camera apps, wierd sound in Twitter when pulling down to refresh and the light on touch key won't go off when it's got notifications while the screen is off. However it gives a very good experience for playing games rather than DModV6 because I don't get any lags while playing games. Try it yourself to know more

thanks for your fast reply. Chargin' up ma phone and gettin' ready to flash
oh forgot to ask one very important thing for me. Will installing my default FM Radio app on CyanogenMod 11.0 work. I really like to listen to radio while not at home (and yes original radio, not on 3g)
Don't think so.. I think the kernel doesn't have radio option and for disabling the softkeys on notifications there is an app called BLN Control

Yes, it works. But you have to install an app called Spirit FM. Once you've installed it, to make it work you have to go to Settings/Audio/Method and there choose Galaxy S3/Note/S2_ICS. Good luck!

The ROM doesn't come with a built-in offline radio. Don't worry, you can install Spirit FM
