So the support for the streak 7 seems to be pretty poor on xda right now, judging by the <10 posts in the dev section. Is this because its relatively new or is it a sign of non-interest with the devs?
I thought it would an ideal device, since it has the dual core tegra 2, but maybe thats not such a big deal. Im hoping for improvements like bionix gives me on my Vibrant, but I suppose I can just sell this one and put it towards a better tablet later.

Agree.
I think the reason is mainly it is relatively new and it is a tegra 2 dual core tablet.
Everyone has a phone, so a lot of devs are cracking those phones (including Streak 5), but not everyone has a Tablet, or people are very selective when it comes to be a tablet. They may wait for a better tab or just watch for a while.
I actually think with more and more different tablets in the market, Dev resources are divided in an unhealthy way, while Devs for iOS are having only one choice, iOS.
Maybe that's why Google nowadays are gripping tighter on how much a manufacture can customerize on its OS , so that compatibliity cross different android devices get assured.
my two cents.
As a happy streak 7 owner, I am gratefully waiting for DJ's tweak and at the same time will try as much as possible to explore something on my own. =)
I have created a few small business apps, and have been planning and working on another larger Honeycomb tablet app for a little while now.
I hope to have this app completed in the next few weeks, but it is beginning to look like we might not get Honeycomb in time.
I love my Streak 7, only had it a couple of days, but it is now blazing fast. It needed a little bit of cleanup, but so far the battery has been good for me. I used mine all day today, and had greater than 50% battery left by the end of the work day.
I think once its Released to the rest of the world there will be more interest but as we all know we need Developers to keep people interested

What kind of cleaning up did you do? You seem to be enjoying exceptional battery life!
Hi all,
Now, i'm planning to buy myself a tablet, but I can't make my decision because I don't know which kind of tablet should I buy. An Android one or Apple's one?
I enjoy the entertainment that the iPad bring to me, but I also like the Android one since it gives me more freedom in using it.
Any opinions? welcome to speak
Ive got my eye on the Motorola XOOM.
With Google at the helm im sure it'll get the support it needs.
It also has HDMI-out on it which is a bonus
iPad2 all the way for tablets for now.
Lets see what Ice Cream Sandwich brings to the table.
If I had to pick an Android tablet, it'd be the Samsung Galaxy 10.1

Why would you buy a tablet that can't run flash? Im sure you'd be using the web browser on that big screen at some point :S

Flash is barely an issue. Most websites have appropriated their websites for iPad compatibility.
As both a former XOOM user and current iPad2 owner, I rarely get any issues with lack of flash content. Thats just my personal use case though
XOOM is heavier, and subpar screen compared to iPad2, which are my main gripes. Sure the XOOM has higher resolution screen, but the display is definitely mediocre to that of the iPad2.
I have the ipad 1, BUT I would really buy a Samsung tablet now, just to taste a bit of both worlds. And yes you don't have to suffer a lot for the lack of flash, just not the case anymore.

To me it comes down to functionality. Id be using the web browser the most which is why the ipad doesnt appeal to me.
Thanks for your opinions though its good to hear from someone whos owned both devices whereas ive neither got the xoom or the ipad
Still after a XOOM though.
I am having this same debate also. I am all about Android and have been looking at the XOOM for some time. I just recently got my hands on an IPAD 2 and it seems very well polished and it functions well. I just don't like being limited on customization. Another good tablet on the market is the Galaxy Tab and it has come a long way. I'm leaning towards a Galaxy tab now, I will have to watch some more reviews before I make the plunge.
If I had to buy right now it would have to be iPad 2 unfortunately because of the quality of apps.
However, I would wait for ICS and hope GTab 7.7" gets ICS if it's decent. But tech is not worth waiting for as you'd end up waiting for A then B is not far off but then C may be even better.
I would ask yourself if you prefer the Apple or Android ecosystem & go from there. If you prefer Apple's then get an iPad 2. If you prefer android, then get the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
I was once an iPad 1 & iPhone user with tons of Apple apps but decided Android was for me & gave them all up. I don't regret my decision at all.
If you like widgets, go with Android. If you hate widgets, go with Apple. Wolf, Android, sheep, Apple. Flexibilty, Android, prisonlike restrictions, Apple.
I like Android.

Android one for sure. Same as comparing iPhone with an Android phone. Complete freedom versus pretty much locked down
I cant live w/o Airplay, other than that Android.
ipad with the calling capabilities (as of galaxy tab 7) wud be the ideal tablet -- a big 10 inch iphone
I have the original iPad, have no problem with flash since I'm using skyfire, and I need to just press an extra button for the flash content to load. Also welcome to the world of HTML5. No one uses flash anymore.
As for Android tablets, never really played around, but I know the Xoom is really heavy since I played with that.
the nexus 4 is a great device, and im sure the Galaxy S4 will be nice also.
I realize this is a Nexus 4 forum, but my question is this; is the s4 a worthy upgrade from the nexus 4?

By the time S4 becomes available the N4 will be over 6months+ old; this is a long time in phone tech these days.
For me the performance improvement isn't enough considering the time gap; just wait another few months for the real next gen.
Just ask yourself one question. Can you live without timely updates? Also, cyanogenmod devs are not going to be buying the s4. If I can find the source I will post it.

I feel you may be right, the s4 specs are good BUT there not anything spectacular. if anything its a minor update (in my opinion) to the S3.

ya i read that the other day on google currents (I have android central, android police, cult of android, and a few others on my feed)
Its a shame, but these companies noot to make unlocked bootloaders and easy to root, rom and flash
I dont do rooting or anything, but i understand the frustration from all you rooters...as I was with my verizon galaxy nexus
I haven't even rooted my n4. I've never been happier with a device.

if you like buggy stock ROM´s, even more buggier custom ROM´s, missing source code, no original development ... go for the S4
I´ll stick to my N4

Agreed it's not worth it at all, I had the S3 and I am never going back to plastic. The only thing I would get is the One, and that's if it gets S-OFFed. Honestly, I am 100% happy with this phone, I'll wait for the next nexus before I even consider anything else.

Honestly I my self am not impressed with the new changes to the s4(meaning most of the "new" features could have been a software update on the s3). I've owned the entire galaxy line accept the note family and just switched to a nexus 4. Samsungs got a lot of bug issue within there phones as well as hardware issues Samsung has really began to become the iPhone of the android world honestly I would wait to see what Google has in the works in there upcoming press conference before making any decisions then you have the three to choose from being the HTC one s4 and maybe a Nexus 5. Coming from a previous Samsung user and the experience I've had with there products I would not go back and for me personally as well nothing beats stock android and always getting an update weather your phone is 2 years old or 2 months old. Well that's my 2 cents take it or leave it and have a blessed day.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Samsung needs to stop trying to re-invent the wheel. They are are adding too much crap to the phones in the form of Samsung made social media crap, media players and other proprietary software.
If they don't add clean simple features then people will lose interest. When I bought my S3 I was fumbling around trying to find out how most of the new features worked, only to find it cumbersome and counter-intuitive. What good are features if you never use them?

I'm sure some of you watched the keynote live today. I wasted 3.5 hours of my life watching that keynote. No new N4,N7, or N10. Not even another Nexus Q. But they did announce a galaxy s4 nexus which I could really care less about. Oh yeah, and no new android either. 4.3 or 5.0. Pretty dissapointed. Just pitting the info here on good ol' xda.

Oh some people really do make me laugh.
You already have a Nexus 7 which is still an amazing and powerful device. It's running on the latest Android OS available and yet you think your time has been wasted?
What about the time which was spent by everyone at Google who put that event together? They spent all that time and effort for people like you to still moan about things.
What is the world coming to?

Google said this was going to be developer focused, and lots of important news came out from that side.
The new Galaxy S4 Nexus edition is pretty big news, in terms of what it could mean for the future of Android phones.
I'd rather wait and get a significant upgrade rather than have a half-arsed product be pushed out just so they have something to announce at the I/O (à la Apple)

Google, no Nexus 7v2, no 4.3. All no problem. But don't play silly on deciding which device gets Hangouts and which not.

These type of rants really make me laugh.
I for one am happier that there is no new Nexus 7 or Nexus 4, because both of those devices still kick ass. Stop turning into such consumers. What you have is good enough. The day Google starts releasing the same device with a tiny upgrade with an S at the end of it, is when I'll leave for good.
4.2.2 does the job. Some people complain about lag but I've never had any. You're doing something wrong if you have terrible amounts of lag, or a faulty device. It's that simple. Also, if you're having problems with the device, such as with the battery and lag or whatever it may be, play around with it and fix it yourself. After all, that's why you bought a Nexus device, right?
The updates to Google Maps are massive and very important, as are the ones to Google Hangouts. Tons of work has gone into them. Learn to be a bit more appreciative. Even if some people did get what they wanted, they'd just likely want more two months later.
Please stop being ridiculous.

I'm sure it's just a temporary glitch. For now, get the apk from the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2280184
N7.2 is needed to keep up with the performance of the N4. Now an N4 owner has settle for a tablet that is slower and lower PPI than the phone, or bump up to the N10 and accept the added bulk & weight.
Hoping for an N7.2 doesn't mean the N7.1 is not still a great device. What could be bad about getting an N7.2 with better specs for the same price as the N7.1?
I just wanted a new Android version (4.3, 4.2.3, whatever) so it would fix the issue with Nexus 4 wifi falling asleep and doesn't get notifications in time or able to answer wifi VoIP calls. It's a known issue since november 2012, and still not fixed in 4.2.2!
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42272
Well for me, I have a N7 but I will be probably be forced to hand it over at the end of the month.
So I'll be a new buyer. If the N7 isn't announced then I'll be forced to wait or buy last years tablet again. It has to be close because we all know Apple will update their mini this year.
I agree the N7 is a great device. I just don't want to spend $200ish on a tablet and a better one come out a month later for the same price.
Ahh I was really hoping. I even did my ritual Android dance before work today.

I am just sick of my Nexus 7 being laggy. I really feel like 4.2 was some cobbled together kang of 4.1 that they beefed up with a ton of features and rushed it out to the nexus devices so they could have a new version of android for the nexus 4 and 10 announcement. Granted with my 4's dramatically better hardware, I don't notice any lag at all, but it killed my Nexus 7. I've tried several roms and kernels too and it's still laggy, worst when it's resyncing from sleep. Google now can be virtually unusable at times on it too, with my keyboard taking forever to appear and then the screen not registering my inputs on it.
I understand for fragmentation purposes it might be the right thing to focus on play store updates, and core google apps and services as well as developer tools to give everyone who buys an android device a great experience. But if they are done updating android for a while, they gotta at least fix 4.2. It's the buggiest version of android since honeycomb!

Not for me. The nexus lags like hell with horrid gpu rendering. I wanted that updated spec nexus 7. Google io sucked this year. I assume we will get less android updates now to limit fragmentation. I think 4.3 was nothing but a rumor and they are at least working on key lime.

All of the custom roms and.kernels have lag for me. This is my 2nd nexus 7 to. This thing needs a quad core + 2gb of ram.
Would everyone rather have Google be like Apple and introduce products MINOR changes to devices and throw on a "S" to the name or come out with new innovation? This years I/O was not a disappointment. Its not all about the "products".

Just curious to know if its worth coming to the TF701T, from the 101. I know its not a very new device but the specs still look good to me having looked at some newer transformer devices they dont seem quite upto the job (a little underpowered). Love the versatility of my TF101 but its getting pretty tired recently so would you guys recommend it or something else thats not been around as long. look forward to your advice, cheers.

I upgraded from the 101 to this too and overall the experience is fine. Like most things in life it's not perfect but overall I'd recommend.
There are some threads on here mentioning hardware issues with dock, etc but I've had none of that
The main downside for me on the 701 is the lack of development for it or activity on the forum at all - if it's wasn't for Sdbags on here (with a few more people now) we'd all be stuck on stock.
Anythinkg else feel free to shout
Totally agreed with gav2fc . I had a tf 101 and was very happy with it. So, I bought tf701 when it came out. Never regret! But, I wished more developers could help to get more ROM.

Hey guys I was also wondering about getting this. I've watched a review of the tf701t and a rooting and unlocking bl tutorials etc... So I'm wondering if I should get something like this because the only other 10.1 inch tab I have is the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 which is great but I don't like the physical buttons or the design of it even though I use the virtual keys in cm12.1. I know the specs on the tf701t are good but I guess (heard) they are not good for gaming which isn't a problem for me because when I want to game I play on a console or a pc. So what do you guys think? I really like the design, bezels, keyboard, on screen keys and everything else about it and I haven't really heard about any issues with it like previous models. So what do you guys think about it? I'll take anything bad or good. Is there any other tablet that came out more recently like this one (doesn't have to be Asus) that has a 10.1 inch screen and CUSTOM ROMs minus the keyboard that I wouldn't be forced to buy from Amazon maybe? (If I couldn't install custom roms on this tablet I would be mad THANKS!
