Mobile Odin and wiping internal memory - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I read that wiping data and cache using mobile odin is safe. However I would also like to wipe internal sd card. Mobile odin doesn't have this option, so my question is: how can I safely wipe internal sd card while being on official ICS ROM?
Greetings

I wouldn´t wipe using anything while running an ICS kernel. It is best to flash abyss and wipe from there. The sdcard can be wipe or formatted using a sdcard reader in the PC.

[Q] ODIN questions

the "repartidion" does what it says, also wipes out everything in the internal SD
Re: odin questions.
Odin's repartitions will erase the data of your internal partitions similar to doing a full wipe in cwm .
data in the internal sd such as music pics etc etc are not touched . ext sd is also not touched .
No, they are not deleted internal memory and external

is it normal that ODIN flash with re-partition does not wipe SD

I flashed Darky 10.2 with ODIN with re-partition ticked.
However, it does not wipe any contents in internal SD.
so all my music, picture, etc are still there.
Is this normal?
Then how should I flash to be most clean?
Also, factory wipe does not wipe internal SD too.
it get rids of setting and my app but not pictures or music in internal SD.
I was wondering if this is normal too......
I am using Bell I9000M
Yes, both normal, why? Do you want to loose everything?

Good to know that my phone isn't acting weird.
Though I am kinda worried that the files in internal SD happened before lagfix was applied (stock) and new files to be added will have lagfix applied.
Wouldn't it corrupt internal SD?
Hi dude,
Don't mix up internal SD and internal memory.
Internal SD keep your personnal data like pictures, music and more.
Internal memory hold the OS, recovery and more.
Odin only works with internal memory.
In answer to your question, it's completely normal. If you want to wipe your internal SD, use recovery menu and choose wipe personal data or from android system, go to settings and look for storage menu, you can format internal and external SD from that place.
Kind regards

formatting internal SD card

Hi, friends. I flashed a few custom roms and kernels, also quite a few applications. Now I want to start fresh with a new custom rom and installing afresh applications. I do not know what kind of folders and files are in Internal SD card (accumulated over a peroid of time). Can I format the internal SD card, just before flashing a new rom. if so how? thanks.

If you are on safe kernel then yes you can format your internal sd card. Just go to SETTINGS>STORAGE>FORMAT SDCARD(INTERNAL STORAGE)

Yes you can format as above said by sahil, but make sure to copy DCIM folder, if your camera having default setting and your snaps are there. Same way copy any other folder, which you have manually create/edited like music/videos. Rest of folder will recreate as system need.
Another alternative is to mount in windows and format there, as Dr k said keep the dcim folder.

note that on some kernels, the emmc and sdcard are swapped, so format sdcard can sometimes wipe external.
Happened to me unfortunately a couple if times so take caution and remove external and format both to be sure

Hi All,
I have done repartitioning to my N7000 (using 16GB internal + 16GB ext card) with Odin with PIT file & the required *.md5 and used the 10gb Data partition PIT file.
But after reboot the application partition completed, but the rest partition not showing and giving error of "Blank USB storage"
I have tried to connect with PC to format it, but also there the partition is not able to format.
Kindly help if anybody have faced the same issue and done some solution to restore this internal memory.
@vikashrastogi PIT file is usually flashed aside and together with an entire stock firmware.
I have no clue how could your phone survive such attempt

Install rom of choice then use recovery to format /sdcard. It's found in advanced options in cwm. Not sure where to find it in twrp.
