Just repeat 3 times.
Nexus 7 is only $200. Nexus 7 is only $200. Nexus 7 is only $200.
Now repeat this 1 time.
The gtab 7.7 was $429 on a 2 year contract and $699 with no contract when it was released.
Would I pay over $400 for a Nexus 7? No I wouldn't. Would I pay $200 given that the screen is not equal to the gtab 7.7 or iPad 3? Yes I would.

nexus 7 is quad core!

Galaxy tab 7.7 has a superamoled screen. What did you expect. Thaw also why its over 600 dollars without a contract.

Super LCD > AMOLED, IMO.

My 52" Plasma TV has a bigger screen...
WTF Google???
That's it, I'm returning it!!!

WTF? Did you think the regular lcd of the 200 DOLLAR Nexus 7 would outclass your Super AMOLED Galaxy Tab 7.7? Have fun with your N7

Screen on the gtab 7.7 is a Super AMOLED + too. It's non- pentile.

Sure, but the N7 most definitely does not have a Super LCD so the point is rather moot.

2012 Tablet Comparison, is Nexus 7 better?

Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying the nexus 7. Came across this article that compares all the current tablets. Is the source accurate? Should I buy the 16gb or 8gb one?
Source
Specs look about right, except I think the Kindle fire has 1024x600.
For it's price and size the nexus 7 is the best. If you want full sized go for the transformer infinity.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Get the 16gb version asap. This device rocks. Very fast across the board.
there are a few not on the list dropping shortly. If you have 500 dollars i suggest Huawei media -pad 10 , 200, tegra 3 acer a110 similar nexus 7 less screen resolution but does has sd card slot and hdmi port. Might research more before you decide. and the nexus will get best support and development. so cant go wrong there either.
What do people think on how the n7 compares with Motorola xoom2 8.2 media edition which can be picked up for around 200 UK pounds...and will also receive the jb upgrade?

I was hoping that the 2011 tablets that haven't sold too well like the Xoom would drop to near fire sale prices because of the N7 but I guess not.

Given that you are asking on XDA...the Nexus 7 is guaranteed to have a massive development following. Other tablets are hit and miss. For example, the A500 has way more development than the A200, event though the A200 was one of the first ICS tablets on the market. What is especially weird is that the A200 has an unlockable bootloader and the A500 does not. But by the time the A200 came out, all the devs already had an A500. Acer tablets are very close to stock google, and they are pretty good about updates, but you never know where the development will be. So the A110 may be a great tablet...but given the massive presence the N7 has in the 7" tablet development world...I have my doubts.
It's just that i have purchased the n7 and not sure whether to keep or sell and get the xoom 2 media edition 8.2 which i can buy for a little more than the n7?

You are correct sir.
I have the Acer A100 and a Xoom. The A100 is good battery sucks so unless you can get one for around 100-120 don't waste your time get the N7. I can't really say anything bad about the Xoom is has reliable and will get a JB update. Now I think the 7inch screen is too small and personally I believe 8 is the perfect size. so I might try the Xoom 8.2 once they are cheap enough.

Get 16G
I got the 16G, would have been happier if they had an 32G option like the Galaxy Nexus phone or an SD slot but 16G is usable, I wouldn't consider 8G given that it lacks an SD slot.
The performance of the Nexus 7 is very snappy and Jelly Bean is a real improvement over ICS so if you are going to get a 7 inch tablet the N7 is definitely the way to go.
I can't find a Xoom for any cheaper than $300 still. If it was like 150 or less, it'd be bought in a heartbeat.

Do you guys think the price might go down during the holidays for Nexus 7?
I don't think the price will go down soon with so many places being sold out and play store stop taking orders for the 16gb.

Galaxy 8.9 (ICS update) vs Nexus 7

I have both and after the ics update the 8.9 is almost better, if it had Google Now it would be the better device for me because of the form factor. The 8.9 is smoother than the Nexus 7 now in my experience, Chrome works much better and for some reason the resolution seems sharper with ICS.

You can improve the resolution of the ui of your Nexus 7 by changing the ui density see this :

It might just seem sharper based on the type of screen each is made with. The resolutions in each are almost identical. For me the Nexus 7 form factor is absolutely perfect. If you prefer the 8.9 then I say go for it.

I loved the 8.9 but the Tegra 2 stinks. I feel skeptical of the speed claims too, but awesome for you either way.

have you been dissappointed with the nexus 7 when you bought it or do you think you have got a goot tablet?

I have a Desire HD and she has a Incredible S as smartphones.
I have a Samsung Tab 10.1.
So as mobile tab or for ebooks it's the best one I think.
And it's a very good price. For a tablet in 10.1 inch you pay 400 £.
If you want to invest 400 £ buy a Galaxy Tab 10.1 otherwise a Nexus.

I have been surprisingly impressed with my nexus 7. I bought it at launch, and I was already heavily involved with the HTC rezound and the Transformer prime tablet. I had also had two iPads so I thought I knew all I needed to know about tablets. Had my local staples not had one in stock aftrer launch or had it been more expensive I wouldn't have tried it.
But I'm so glad I did, because the 7 inch size surprisingly makes it feel, completely different from a 10 inch, and its so handy and convenient. My favorite part is the development. I set my tablet aside for a few weeks, and when I came back to it development had increased instead of slowed, so I get to flash and help work on toms of stuff.
If you have any more questions send them on but I highly recommend trying it.

For portability nothing beats it and you will appreciate the pure Android experience for sure. I also thought I'd miss the extra few inches but in fact I prefer it because it makes typing and playing games much easier as your not stretching to use the controls all the time nor are you fed up of how heavy it gets in your hands although I appreciate that depends on what 10" you have.
Enjoy it!

As a guy who has owned probably half a dozen different android tablets, this guy has said most of what I would have about the n7. At home I use it more than both my laptop and Nexus phone. Out and about I'll always take it with me in preference to my laptop as it's small enough to be very portable yet still large enough to be much more comfortable to use than my phone.

OK how about this just compare all the other tablets to the n7. Then look at what you get for your money. Hands down the n7 is underpriced for what's inside. The only thing that it lacks is a SD slot.

What phone compliments the nexus 7

Currently using an iPhone 4s alongside my nexus 7, OK its nice to have best of both world type devices, but I would like to use my nexus to be able to use mighty text type apps so I think its time to grab another android phone, got an option locally a guy wants to swap his galaxy note, but I'm thinking this is pretty close in size, what would you recommend?

Galaxy Nexus all the way. The Nexus 4 is too fragile and not worth the hassle in my opinion. Sure it has a quad core processor and 2Gb of RAM, but honestly.. who uses that on a phone.
I would recommend the HTC One X, but seriously... After some of the stuff HTC have been doing nowadays, I struggle to recommend HTC.
I have an original GNote and can't imagine having any thing else. There is a bigger difference in size then you would think.
And remember "When you go Note, 4 inches is a joke".

I am finding N4 compliments N7 greatly. Basically you get some great raw power on both devices, but the tegra in the N7 give way for different, but complimentary usage. Tegra exclusive games run with great power, while N4 runs non tegra with even greater power.
Maybe it was a design decision so that both devices have equal usage. XD
Well screen size is also a factor. I am not so interested in watching video on the N4. Still I find myself using both devices at once a lot. N7 definitely being the couch/bed lazy movie viewing device.

We're using a lot of these at my work. They only have 1024 x 600 resolution, that's the same as the original Galaxy tab and only 169 ppi, the Nexus 7 323 ppi.
Then there's the Marvell dual-core cpu which is basically a low grade cpu.
Basically, you bought an entry level tablet which has a lower resolution than the tab 8.9 has, and a camera without flash which is also only 3 mp and is the worst camera I've seen since my trust webcam 8 years ago.
Don't take my word for it, read any review like this one http://www.trustedreviews.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-3-7-0_Tablet_review#tr-review-summary
Even the older nexus 7 is a far far better deal than the tab 3 which was only released to suck people's wallet dry.

Im also thinking of selling my tablet. It is in very good condition. Not a single scratch. But just too ffreaking slow and hate touchwiz now. And no updates. Samsung abondoned the tablet too quick.
Wondering which tablet to buy next.

If you're partial to 8.9 inch screens (as I am), then there aren't any good replacements right now, though the recently announced AMazon Fire HDX 8.9 looks good on paper (if you've okay with being tied to amazon world)
Otherwise, I think the best bet is to wait for the next nexus 10. Hopefully, it'll weigh less than a pound, making it as light as our 8.9s. Personally 7 inch tablets (even 8 inch ones) seem crammed to me.

Seems like a successor to the GT 8.9 has finally come. The new GT Pro 8.4 unveiled yesterday. What do you guys think ?
Nice specs.
8.4-inch display with WQXGA resolution (2560 x 1600)
Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz quad-core CPU
2GB RAM
16GB/32GB
8-megapixel camera
2-megapixel front-facing camera
4800mAh
Android 4.4 KitKat
Fine size. Might be a bit expensive. Think I will wait and consider the next 10' Nexus first. Less bloatware and faster upgrades. I like my p7320 now that it has CM. Faster than stock 4.0.4, more settings, no freezes

I think that it's not bad but not optimal either.
First of all screen size is not optimal for me, I think 8.9 is the best fit, not a bigger one but not a smaller one too, and 8.4 is enough smaller. Maybe 8.7 would be barely sustainable as substitute for my optimal 8.9.
Second, subpixel matrix is the usual sh1tty pentile. Samsung seems as usual unable (or unwilling) to shrink subpixel over a certain extent, no matter if amoled or tft, therefore offering this ridiculous subpixel arrangement. I don't care of what they say, given a certain resolution the image quality is always worse with pentile. So I never consider any device of any resolution/ppi that doesn't sport 3 subpixel (full rgb) matrix.
Third, I don't like form factor, I know that Samsung needs to follow Apple design to sell millions of devices, and now 8.4 design is resembling ipad mini 2, but it can only push me toward other solutions. I don't like Apple and its design, so I won't like any design similar to Apple's. I still prefer tablet form factor over the phablet one.

The best substitute for my 8.9 would exactly be Amazon hdx 8.9, snapdragon 800 and 2560 FULLRGB and not pentile crap. Unfortunately atm there's no way to install a custom rom, so it cannot be a choice for me. Anyway I'm constantly following development there, eager to see a daily drivable cm on it, then I'll buy it.
What do you people think about the LG G Pad 8.3 - especially considering there is a Google Play Edition version and there is active CM11 development on it?
