Nexus 7 very hot by dock connector - Nexus 7 General

After about five minutes of initial use I found that my nexus 7 was getting very hot near the dock connector. Nothing really pressing, downloaded a few apps, light browsing.
Is anyone else having this issue?

Have not noticed anythig geting hot on mine
I brought a nexus 7 from goole play and benber seen any sunch problems.

I also have this problem. It's not exactly "hot" but it's definitely warmer than the rest of the tablet.

Nexus 7 Issue Reports

A couple thing's I've noticed, when doing some serious gaming, the unit gets VERY hot. We've seen this before with Teg 3 tablets COUGH*acer*COUGH, but my concern is putting a case on this thing... I'm worried that retaining all that heat might cook the thing's insides.
This will probably resolve itself, but last night I went to bed at ~80% battery, watched a movie, and when it was done, the screen turned off as normal... and when I woke up, the battery was down to 25%. My Razr Maxx had similar issues when new and apparently had to do with the OS calibrating it's battery meter.
What is everyone else seeing on theirs?
Use CPUspy to see if it was deep sleeping? BetterBatterystats to check wakelocks? Mine seems to be sleeping fine, haven't seen mine do anything weird yet
I'm not a serious gamer but I did put my N7 through about an hour of some pretty intensive gaming and it got a little warm like any device but it was never HOT to the touch. Battery life on day 1 was a bit weak but thats because I was too excited and did not give the N7 time to fully charge before playing with it.
Yesterday it was fully charged at around 2pm when I unplugged it.
Went to the library for a little over an hour and mooched their WiFi then went to my friends house.. from 4pm till midnight we were abusing my N7 pretty much constantly... showing off GNow, Maps compass mode, sports scores etc and when I got home around 1am I still had 47%.
Granted, I didn't game at all yesterday or watch much video.. but it was still being used fairly constantly.
Therr are apps that cause your device to wake. I discovered "hangaroo" does this on my wife's evo3d.
Some market apps are that annoying, just uninstall that certain app and the device shouldn't wake up randomly
on xda for android and mistyping like a boss
The only thing on my N7 that wasn't on my other Android devices was Dark Meadow: The Pact... I'm thinking, like mentioned, it's a new device issue that'll resolve itself as far as battery life. The 2nd and 3rd day with my Razr Maxx, I awoke to a dead battery, now it's rocking 2-3 days between charges.
And the heat, well, that was mostly during that Dark Meadows game and that's completely optimized for a Teg 3, so it's abusing all 4 cores plus the GPU portion of the chip. Still, not sure I'd want all that contained in some insulating case.
My Nexus 7 doesn't get hot like you described. My only issue is that the left part of my screen isn't stuck down completely. It pops up while people on reddit are saying is common. Anyone else with this issue here?

Played about two hours of GTA 3 yesterday, it did get 'warm' but not hot.
I think it really depends on how lucky/unlucky you are with the Nexus 7 unit you received. Some people are reporting a dead unit after using it for about 3 hours. Others are reporting dead pixels. And, you're reporting this...
I guess I was lucky enough to not have any of those issues with my Nexus 7.

Overheating

Is anybody nexus 7 overheating? It seems that the back of my tablet seems to be getting hot out of nowhere and i do not know why.
Are you doing any intense gaming? Could be that causing the N7 to heat up. My One X does the same, but not enough to be uncomfortable. Not got my N7 yet.
Mine gets very warm while charging, and slightly warm when using it. Nothing major though.

i am not doing intense gaming
Mine gets pretty hot along the left edge of the screen. My brightness is stuck on max though so I think it's the LEDs.

hello...?
My phone got so hot it called me maybe.
It gets warm after gaming for 30 minutes - 2 hours, haven't tried it with full brightness yet though.
Should I try to return the tablet?

More than likely there is nothing wrong, unless it's so hot that it's uncomfortable to hold.
Edit: Never mind. I see you starting multiple threads with different problems. Just return it.
Mine gets warm at the bottom back portion when watching hd videos w/o hardware acceleration (mkv to get sound). The battery temperature remains low though. It must be tegra3 in that spot getting warm, which is normal.

I am having a bunch of weird lag too, something unlike regular nexus 7's. I think I am gonna return it and get a 16 GB for now.

It's a computer. It has a thing called a processor and batteries. Those things get hot. heat is not the same as overheating. If your tablet gets slightly warm to the touch, maybe even very warm, chances are its fine. If it gets so hot that your tablet burns you to the touch, catches on fire, etc, thats when you have a problem.

Install a battery widget, it will show you the temperature. Mine normally is about 27 C. Working/Gaming 30C-33C Charging around 38 C
I think anything under 40 is safe.

Touchscreen Problems [Google Update]

Hey all---
I just got off the phone with a resolution specialist supervisor (whatever that means) for the N7 who is shipping me out a replacement for my n7 with the touchscreen dead spot / unresponsiveness issues.
Anyhow, he told me that this IS a hardware problem--Google is aware of it, and is sending out replacements for anyone with this problem.
If you bought yours from the play store, you should call in 855-83NEXUS, tell them you have the problem, and they will ship you a replacement.
Hope this is helpful to people!
Please describe when does the dead spot occurs for you?

HEY i just read 28 pages of partial crap and why this isnt an issue, BUT i would like to defend some of us nit pickers, I play the smule game and also a regular piano app, and i usually have my tablet in a case since i broke my first with a 2 foot drop and so i have a tablet, not grounded, and i want to play the piano, and since the keys are line up, and i like to press more than one note at a time they dont always hit, either making gameplay on smule unbearable or my songs suck, i admit it doesnt really bother anything else BUT it ruins my favorite game and i made a decision to buy a nexus and n7 vs the galaxy note 2, so im a little stuck because im sure i cant return both because i dont like one of the devices, so understand this problem can be serious to some.
For me the touch unrespond when the temperature is high (outside the home in hot climate) around 40C
Anyone have this issue?
And should be return to warranty?
I need also the costumer service email please..

I rarely see it and cant make it happen on command like some of the others like touching the screen prior to turning on the tablet and it not responding. Mine is sort of sporadic when it happens its definetly noticeable. So this is CONFIRMED a hardware issue huh? Looks like its going back to Office depot.. hope i can still return it. -_-

you can either plug in headphones or the charging cable. that will ground the n7 and eliminate the issue.
When I scroll up and down sometimes it registers swipes as a touch input. Is this the same problem? Sucks though cause this is a C90.

I exchanged that one already so I don't know what number that was. This had it occasionally but very minor but the colors does not seem as saturated as the old one. This one is JRO03S.
I have this on mine as well, but the screen is excellent with great colors, contrast, color temp, etc. After seeing a few with worse screens, I'll live with the occasional touchscreen glitch. If I were still within my return period, however, I'd bag the whole thing.

Got my Jp TF701

So i caved and got the tab.
it seems good to me.
the Jp has 2.2 running 2.3 doesn`t seem to be out yet.
i played Sonic ep 2 THD for about 1 hour tab went down 12% so seems ok with battery life, screen was 50%.
i noticed once only when waking from sleep while docked i got garbled screen. a switch off/on fixed this.
seems fast and smooth and i don`t have that sensor issue i saw on another thread perhaps why jp has not got 2.3 no big issues in software so no need to rush a fix?
As others mentioned would be kewl for a speaker on dock.
while i knew it would happen a few games from my acer won`t install to this new tab. Example sonic 4 ep 1 and sim city deluxe.
i did get the latest apk rom and do that way then let them download the cache but they freeze.
can`t complain i guess.
You mean JP SKU is still on 4.2, and has yet to be updated to 4.3?? I can't imagine the TF701 running 2.2 in ANY region!!
SwiftKey'ed from my White Sprint Note 3 via XDA Premium
You mean of course JB 4.2.2.
Can you tell me what production date is on the box of your TF701?
yes 4.2.2
date says 2013.09

You bought it with the keyboard dock?
When yes you have a TF701 from the batch that has the connector problem.
havn`t had any issues with the connector it has some slight movement but it seems the turning bit is moving not the tab wiggling on the connector.
Like i mentioned one time it was connected to dock it was grey fuzz on the screen and i had to reboot.
thats about it.

Look on the Asus box in which your tablet came.
There is a date on it like: Date 2013.09
Means September 2013.

Heating Problem

I have owned Asus ROG Phone 2 for abiut 2 months already and after this new update from WW1910.66 version, I think I may have been getting some heating problem on the top left of my phone even after playing some normal poker games. Is it just my phone is somebody else has also got this problem. Please share.

Top left is where your heat vent is. By design, the casing of the phone quickly heats up as it dissipates heat from the internals.
A good measure of how hot the internals are, is to check the battery temperature, you can see it if you swipe in from left when gaming. As long as your battery is below 50 celsius, you're all good, and the phone is working as intended.
