n7 delivered and your credit card charged: if you have a copy of order cancelation, use it for a chargeback with your credit card company. keep n7.
n7 delivered and you're credit card NOT charged: keep n7.
Good luck!
Let us know if you still got charged!
I tried to cancel my order but Google rep told me it had to be done within 60 minutes. It was nor really an issue because after I had bought a 16gig N7 at Sam's (saving about $20) the monet was not there for them to charge my account.
I called my bank and they told me there would be no nsf fee. No problems as far as I am concerned.
Google should fulfill pre-orders before sending them to retail outlets

Steal N7? People have no morals or ethics. It's disgusting.
The Truth of the matter is Google specifically stated in their terms and conditions of sale that there were no cancellations. As you are unlikely to have cancelled by phone (because they wouldn't let you) you have probably just used the support web page and sent it in. That isn't valid, your order is still good.
Correct way to move forward now is to phone them and request a return which they have said they will do if you have not opened the package.
The important thing to realise is that right now you have the device you ordered. Google's card processing system is catching up. If you have not been charged you you will be soon.

I didn't think they're was a cancel online, I did mine by having them call me, and even the first rep didn't do that right.
Eventually I called back and a different rep said my request to cancel never happened even though the first rep days before said he did it.
Second rep did it again and sent it off to the appropriate people. 24-48 hours later, I received email confirmation including the order number, was cancelled.

In that case you have a good set of history to now request they come at their expense and pick it up and return your money (if charged).
It would be nicer if the delays were not 60 minutes ha as a result of the level of borkedness of this release! Good luck.
If it says it was cancelled, you will probably get a knock on the door from a UPS guy saying that you have a shipping request. You can either a) say no, keep the tablet, get charged or b) give it to him, wait 2 weeks, get a refund from google)
All you can do now is either return the package unopened to UPS (You have 5 days) or sell it on Ebay.

No way he can get less than what he paid for it, they're all selling for a profit now. plus he might get his money faster since google refund will take a couple of weeks. However if he doesn't sell it he's stuck with it.

Thanks for the reply
I contacted google last night and they said that they would send a email regarding shipping however, this has still not arrived. I then proceeded to put a complaint against google for ignoring my request for cancellation of the goods.
I bought this tablet in the UK so regarding googles policy it really does not matter if they stated "no Cancellations" as this wanders into the realms of "goods law" and statutory rights of the buyer.
I have told a friend at work that I have one for sale or return she stated that she wanted it at the cost £170. Shame, though it would have been nice to make enough extra on top for a cheeky pint!
Also forgot to mention I have already purchased the 16 gig variant through HMV at 190 quid. Also TESCO are selling these at 190 with the order number/discount voucher thing of TDX-KPHM if anyone else is interested.
If this is UK and you were charged, send it back under DSR within 7 days and they must refund you.

So I, like many others, had a defective Nexus 7 (creaking sound, a bit of a screen separation). I called staples, and asked for an exchange, which they were happy to provide. They sent up a guy this morning with a new Nexus 7 to replace my old one.
The new one has pretty much the exact same issue as the last one. I'm considering asking to exchange AGAIN, or possibly just living with the glass separation issue.
Do any of you know if Staples will exchange/replace more than once? Also, how many of you ordered from Staples and actually received a perfect device (no creaking / glass issue)?
Thanks.
Just try to exchange it at another staples or try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28963551 if you are not afraid to open your Nexus

Thing about Staples is that I ordered mine online, so I call online for the support. I already opened up both this one and my last one, still no real fix.
Don't know if I should chance another replacement either, I might risk lightbleed/dead pixels (which I don't have now). What to do...
I would have no qualms about exchanging the tablet as many times as it takes to get what I paid for. It's a reasonable expectation to get one free of flaws.
Why open a new device and try to fix something that should be handled by the manufacturer?

Could I trouble to ask where you live/what the temperatures are like? At Jersey here, the temps are ~95+. And I feel like that may have something to do with it.
If I were you, I'd just ask for a full refund. Wait until your local stores to stock and buy in person (after checking the quality).
Just got mine replaced at staples. You have 14 days with each product to return it. Either they'll ship a new one or you can return in store.
I went to the store and opened it there to test it.

My tablet was delivered from staples yesterday in that heat wave we had here in NJ. I opened it right away and had no issues right out of the box. Everything is perfect.
I got mine from Staples.com as well and IMO, I have a near perfect tablet except for couple of things. For one, I didn't get the $25 credit. Slightly off topic but did all you (Staples customers) get the $25 credit? I'm weighing the pros and cons of returning it for this reason.
Are you talking about the Play Store credit? I thought that Google detects the google accounts logged in through all Nexus 7, and apply the $25 credit to the account. That way, they don't care where you got your N7 from.
Yes, the Play Store credit. I followed the directions explicitly to get the credit to no avail. I even did a factory rest and entered a different credit card still to avail.

I didn't get the credit when setting it up and seen nothing about it when I finished setting it up but I did get it later in the play store when I went to buy a app it had something like add your credit card to Google wallet and get 25$ play credit. After I added the card it gave the option to use the credit.
I also tried it at the Play store checkout. It gave me that option to add a credit card and get the $25 credit. I added another different credit card but, again, no credit.
Sounds like a lot of people have had virtually perfect tablets from Staples, in the NJ/PA area. I just called again, they'll be picking up my tablet on Friday and sending a new one on Monday. if THAT one has issues... I may just take it to the local staples to refund or to open a box / find one that isn't broken.
Online staples orders can be returned via stores right?
I called the Staples in my area and they said I could return it to their store. Did you get the $25 Play Store Credit??
I work at staples in audobon, new jersey. I'd like to say that we will continue to replace your device until you receive one that is what you had ordered.

I guess I was lucky, I ordered from the Play Store and I got one in very good shape. The left side of the screen is ever so slightly raised, but it's so minor that it's not worth the trouble. It has no effect on my tablet, so I don't care.
Ordered from staples, got my credit.

If you ordered your Nexus 7 from Google Play, you paid $19.99 for 2-day shipping.
But many (if not all) Canadian customers had whose Nexus went out this week had their packages shipped UPS Standard.
I sent e-mails yesterday and today, and didn't hear back, so I finally called tonight. I had to wait 25 minutes to speak to someone, but when I did, he was friendly and nice. Looked into it, said it was a fluke, and told me they'd issue a refund.
A $10.50 refund just appeared in my Google Wallet account. Not exactly what I'd been expecting, but I suppose it's better than nothing.
If your package was shipped UPS Standard, I recommend calling.
The above was from another web site that someone else posted.
I called the main Google number, 1-855-83NEXUS and spoke to the front line worker who stated he knew nothing about the switch to standard delivery but created a ticket and forwarded it on to the powers that be. This is the same route the other person had happen. I will update later if i also get the credit.
A partial refund of the $20 Canadian shipping isn't acceptable when they've shipped weeks late to Canada.

how do you request a refund for shipping?
I just called and basically I told them that my shipping wasn't the 2 day shipping on the website and that it was UPS Standard instead.
Basically they said they'd put a request for reimbursement and said i'd hear back with them in about a week.

Not a word from them after the Initial call. Then received an email on the 4th day about the full refund. Email will not work as they do not reply to them, you have to call. They will ask you for your email account you used to order it from ie: gmail and will respond back to that account.

That's exactly right the front line worker can not do anything, he passes it on to the specialist and they look at it. Once it has been determined that there was a shipping error you will receive an email from them.
Well I just called Google Play and he pretty much said that they are aware of the issue and instantly started the process to credit my account. Good thing I saw this thread - I admit I was a little perturbed that I didn't get my 2 day shipping but I was going to let it slide. Now I'll get a small refund.

Oh I doubt that they will retroactively go back and credit everyone....only for the people that actually call in and complain. So I definitely would place the call and request a refund of the difference. I had mentioned to the person that it shipped as UPS Standard and that I paid for 2 day (wasn't much of a choice when ordering) and he said that there was some glitch somewhere and started the refund process of the difference. Didn't have any issues.
I just called the hotline that OP posted and explained to them the same thing. They said they need to forward my issue to the "shipping team", and I'll get an e-mail in a few days with a final decision as to what they will do about my request for a refund (of the shipping).

If you perform a factory reset, and then register your N7 with a different account you will get another $25 Play credit. Interesting, since I use at least 2 accounts on my Tab regularly.

Has anyone received an additional $20 Play Store credit on their replacement devices upon activation?
Nah... I got the N7 this morning. Thought the trick would still work. I first signed in with my account, which I didn't plan on using this N7 much in the future, as my gf would be using it the most. I got the $25. I then reset it and use my gf's account. Nothing showed up. Tried resetting four five times, with different cards. No luck! Whoops...
Didn't wanna be an ass, so I'm sharing her credit with her.
If its too good to be true, it probably is....but I wonder if google would really come back after the money on your purchases?
ive just recieved my nexus 7, 2 infact and havent recieved any play store credit , added credit card as well.
it was mentioned all over the comments in that article that Google patched it. the advertisement was only for a "limited time" anyway so its understandable
It appears I cannot use the $25 credit for apps that are not compatible with the N7. The app works on my phone and is 9.95. But when I order it, even on the web version of "play" from my N7 the only option I get is my credit card.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
What about reflashing stock or a different ROM to the N7? Would that give you the credit back, or was this patched too?
So a month ago I ordered a nexus 4 8gb. The next day my friend decided he wanted to sell he's nexus 4 8gb. He said he will sell it to me for 300$ instead of 372$ from the play store. Of course I bought it. I wanted to cancel my order so went on my Google wallet account to cancel it. Surprise it doesn't work. Take note that the phone hasn't shipped yet. I call them and I explain to them that I will like to cancel my order. The lady tells me that my order has been processed and she can't cancel. She than tells me I have to wait until it comes and wen

I didn't make a big story and did what she said. I was charged the 372$. Tracked with UPS and when it was near my house, called UPS and said that I refuse the order and that they may send it back to the sender. Perfect they sent it back. And it arrived back to them the Friday, *02/15/2013 at*9:30. I emailed them to know when they will refund me.
They said : If your package is unopened, Google will issue a refund to the card originally charged within 2 weeks.
I'm OK with that no problem.
2 weeks pass. I call them starting to get annoyed.
Now they changed the 2 weeks to 14 businesses days :banghead:

I remind you that my nexus 4 didn't even make it to my door. Emailed them and got the same message pasted again. Called them and wanted to talk to a supervisor. They said that 14 working days is their policies blabla and that they can't do anything for me.
I was really annoyed and decided to wait the 14 work days. Which was last Friday. I was supposed to get my refund, or at least it should appear on my Google wallet account, but again nothing.

First thing is that I always call when I need a customer service instead of sending e-mails. I think you can call them again, and ask why tyou still
haven't get the refund because it's already been 28 days. Call with friendly attitude will help you a lot although I know you are angry and
frustrated. If I'm a customer service support, and I have a customer angry at me for no reason ( since I'm not the one who will issue you a
refund...), I will probably mess up your order again, and make you even more frustrated....This is just my thought.
Good Luck.

Yeah, keep calling if you have to. I did the same thing on an RMA and got too busy at work to follow up, but never got my refund after a couple of months. So if you want a refund just keep doing RMA but don't order a new device? just kidding just kidding don't do it, it will not work

In short, you bought something in error, and it's somebody else's fault.

I dunno, so far so good with their support for me. I'm in the middle of an RMA for a Nexus 4 because it won't read any SIM cards (hmm perhaps jamming my old nano sized cut up non-sanded SIM into it half way to see if it would work out of curiosity was not a good idea) and I've had to call once, and send a few emails and they've been quick and polite so far.
I work in customer service too and unfortunately things can slip through the cracks. It's sad but when it happens it's very hard to get it back out. Usually when a rep finally is able to resolve your issue after a lot of BS, they'll provide some sort of credit or bonus to make you happy for having to put up with it, because it really isn't your fault. especially if you make it clear you've been very frustrated and inconvenienced. In this case, their response of "we're switching to a new system" sounds plausible. Just keep following up with them, and ask for a supervisor each time you call so some nice heavy duty supervisor notes get left on your ticket as it crawls its way through the system.
That's why I never returned the faulty device back cause after getting RMA device the money that Google holds until I send my faulty device back got expired and my bank put that money back to my account and never sent the faulty one back. Screw up Google

How did it cost you 372 for the 8 GB? Outside US? And I know your pain- as soon as you get charged the order is almost impossible to cancel.

Exactly why I got mine from TMO(obviously have to live in the US to do so). I was able to get my N4 16Gb for less than $200, got lucky and was able to get it on release for TMO. That unit had terrible light bleeding and received my replacement within 2 days of calling it in.
Before anyone says anything about a contract I have been with TMO for over 10 years, I have 3 lines and all have unlimited data 5GB and I pay less than $190 a month after all fees and taxes. So doing an upgrade does not bother me, plus they always help me out when I want a new phone.

I'd be careful. I'd be scared of google randomly coming after me for another $300+ charge to get that money back. probly just when the cell bill is due too!

I'm not trying to be that guy but since you were bragging about price... You could get straight talk tmobile service with same unlimited service for 3 lines 135 a month. Or if you don't talk much use the 30 dollar tmobile prepaid plan. But I have no problem if you choose your route. Just saying.

You're not a mod. Shut the hell up.
To OP. I don't see anything out of the norm for a typical online retailer. You sound very impatient.
