Nexus 7 pre-orders are now arriving by Fedex.
Mine arrived today (19th) in Sydney ordered on the 29th June. (16 gig model). Some received theirs on the 18th.
Plugged it in to charge up. (arrived with 40% charge)
After about 5 minutes the first OTA upgrade arrived.(JRO03D)
First thing I notice is that a lot of my apps don't appear in the Play Store. I'm guessing they're not JB compatible. (update - I have sent a few from my phone to the nexus 7 via Dropbox and they install and work)
2nd. Did it already know my username? I don't remember typing it.
3rd. Google now gives me weather in Fahrenheit. (okay the settings are a 3 dot menu bottom right to change this and other settings.

I think there was an option to link the device to your Google account before checkout. Im guessing that's why it knows your usernames.

When you guys ordered then you probably left the default option of linking it to your Play account as ticked.
Mine looks like this at the moment http://d.pr/i/J9Hl What are the chances that it turns up here in Melbourne by tomorrow even though it estimates Monday? D:
My 16gb shipped on the 17th, it is estimated to arrive by the 25th. I live in Newcastle... Contemplating emailing for a refund on the 2 day shipping, anyone had success?
Ordered on the 29th, didn't ship until yesterday, and it's take 18 hours today to get from one side of Hong Kong to the other, and is scheduled for Monday arrival.
What was that about 2 day shipping?
Decided to buy one today on a whim, will be getting it tomorrow arvo. so stoked! woop :highfive:
Picked mine up from the FedEx depot this afternoon. Now unlocked, rooted and ready to play! This thing is awesome!!!

mine came a day earlier, which was pretty good.
but yeah, a lot of apps not jelly bean compatible yet.
if you ticked the option to link it to your account when you bought it, then it will know your user details.
ps, did english australia automatically pop up? im stuck on english uk.
Got mine yesterday (18th) and yeah its awesome! The keyboard and voice recognition is a big step up.
I am really impressed with the responsiveness of the screen and it looks great too.
Having fun playing with XBMC (Xbox media centre).
It scored slightly lower on Quadrant Standard than my HTC One X, but that was expected.
Now to root and ROM it!
I know the purpose of this thread is not so much delivery times as Australia Specific stuff, this refund question is probably Australia specific enough to count as your 2 day was changed to 3-5 day.

I am guessing I was one of the first non-IO Australians to have the Nexus 7 with mine arriving ( albeit broken :/ ) yesterday. Now waiting for a reply from Google in how to proceed with RMA! Fun times
What a waste?!
I have just got my nexus 7 yesterday, but there were some problems shown up today, okay here is my case, I found a black line across my Nexus
7 screen around lunch time today, then I called ASUS as maintained within warranty booklet, but they told me to call google play instead. and as
always, I called google play from about 2 PM and wait on line until 5PM, it is totally surprised me!there is no-one answer, seems like everyone just
as bored as I do, to wait on the Fkin line and waste my whole Fkin afternoon!
Got mine (16 GB) this morning. Enjoying it so far.

You should be able to arrange an RMA through the contact section rather than phoning Sydney to wait on hold. Right now the people there are overworked dealing with people's orders, the time should drop as we move on, however ask for an RMA, they will ship you a new one, you then return the old one.
Apparently.

Just confirmed with a personal friend of mine that is a manager of a gamestop. They currently have their stock of Nexus 7s in stock and ready to be sold but are waiting on Asus to give a street date for them. :good:
Already confirmed and there is a topic for this.
Good luck with that. Asus and Google won't want to upset those that ordered at the announcement online, when they could have walked to the end of the road and picked one up instore quicker.
Expect store units to be delayed until after the initial shipments of online ordered have been dispatched to prevent a PR nightmare.

Well just called to confirm my preorder at gamestop. They asked when I preordered and since I was the first one to preorder they said mine is available for pickup tomorrow. Apparently not all of the preorders will be filled tomorrow and it depends on where in line you are. I pre-ordered on June 26th (thru the Play Store) just after the Nexus 7 was announced at Google I/O. It grieves me to know that I would have been better off waiting two days and ordered thru GameStop after it was announced that they would be selling the Nexus 7 Tablet, because waiting two more days to place the order would have gotten the tablet in my hands faster. (This is going to make for some really bad PR for Google...)
Edit: Had the wrong date of July 4th... (wrote from memory and remember a big event on July 4 - LHC announcement of finding the Higgs partical... Somehow crossed that with the Google I/O event the previous week)

So half the GameStops are saying come and pick up and half are saying we were told we have to hold them so I guess you just have to be lucky

Anyone else in the same boat? Have you gotten the email from the escalation team yet? If so, how long did it take for them to contact you?
I am still waiting for the email the rep on the phone told me about last night. I explained that my speaker is too low compared to my GFs N7 and he mentioned a lot of people were complaining about this with the 16GB versions (go figure). He said that they'll ship me a new one and will send packaging labels to return this one. He said I should expect an email from Google some time this week and after that they'll send me the replacement with 1-day shipping. Is this accurate?
At least I can play around with the N7 for the time being. However, it's quite annoying knowing ill have to redo all my setup again. Só many apps, layout changes, settings changes, etc.
Oh well...
PS - Today at work I compared the screens between my 16GB and my coworkers 8GB and his was noticeably brighter when maxed out. Weird and sad that there is another thing I need to worry about now. I guess I expected these QC issues from Asus as an original Transformer owner.

Nice! Wish they would fulfill my order before sending you a second one though... no offense.
I don't really mind the wait for my replacement. I just want some confirmation that they'll indeed be doing it. Don't want to run out of my grace period without getting to test out the second unit.
I'm sure you'll be getting yours soon.
6pm tonight will be 48 hrs since I contacted them, I don't have high hopes of getting a proper 2nd email.
I called them on Tues about the lifted screen and I got an email from them earlier today about getting a replacement. It seems that I will have to order a new unit (my card will be AUTH but not charged) and then the replacement in. They need to get the device within 21 days so that my card doesn't get charged. I've already placed the order through a special URL and now just waiting to see when they will ship.

I contacted them on Tuesday sadly only a few hours after getting my N7. My speaker is defective as well, and like you said when I brought it up they mentioned its been coming up lately. Same deal, told me they would ship out a new one for me within 24hrs however they didn't mention anything about 1 day shipping. That would be great.
Just under 24hrs later last night I received two emails back including the return shipping label info and another with a link to a custom play store checkout with my 16gb replacement. I put in my order via the link they gave me but I was greeted with an error on the next page, however I promptly received an email confirming my order so I guess it went through anyways.
All that's left now is waiting to see when it ships..
I hope it's soon.

I just received the email from google. They sent me a RMA and a prepaid shipping label. There's also a link to have them send me a replacement unit.
The link takes me to my google wallet account, with a new 16 GB in the cart. They don't charge shipping or tax, but put a hold for $249 on your credit card. I have 21 days to return the defective Nexus 7.
I'm a little worried that I am basically buying a new Nexus 7, and not getting priority over someone who ordered today. If I have to wait 3-4 weeks, I will feel like google mislead me about this Nexus 7 replacement process.

Same thing through office Depot. They do next day shipping though but they do that ludicrous credit card hold. Probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard of and makes me not want to order online anymore. Walking into a store you don't pay shipping nor get a hold on your card. Very very inconvenient.

My issue is that there are many other online vendors that handle things fine... mainly Amazon.com. How google is handling this issue is terrible. "oh man, phones are getting flooded, TAKE DOWN THE SUPPORT NUMBER FROM OUR WEBSITE"
I have said this in other threads.... This is the last time I ever buy a device straight from google. Hardware issues can't be their fault 100%, stuff happens... It's how they are handling the problems that is frustrating.

This is what they told me that would happen. I'm still waiting for the RMA email but at least they are sending them out.
Bad news if you're technically buying a new one at zero price. Here in the UK, they've said that pre orders from June 30th are shipping next week, so I'm looking at a week Monday shipment at the earliest. Over a month since the initial order!
On a related note, just how low is this "low speaker volume" problem? I'd say mine isn't the loudest tablet ever, and now I'm wondering if it's possible to get one with louder volume. I have a tiny bit of screen separation and was going to keep mine (everything else is fine, and my screen's just the tiniest bit higher on the left than the right). However, if the volume is lower than it should be...
Also, anybody notice headphone volume also isn't very loud? Just loud enough to be acceptable, but not loud enough to be too loud. I'm used to devices starting to get too loud at about 75%.

So I'm creating this thread to try and determine a percentage value (%) for how many people were actually able to successfully order the new Nexus 4 device on the Launch Date (Nov 13th, 2012) from the Google Play Store.
NOTE: BTW if you picked up your phone from a retail store/t-mobile/O2(UK) etc, then please do not vote, this is for Google Play Store orders only.
If you successfully ordered 1 or more Nexus 4 devices, then click YES.
If you encountered errors/out of stock/coming soon/ or any sort of processing error which resulted in you not managing to order a device. Then, click NO
Thank You

Hi,
After using Windows Phone since launch, I've decided to switch back to android. Primarily to use the apps which still aren't on the WP platform.. I still think WP is the best mobile OS but the app store is poor, thought it would improve with WP8 but it didn't.
My Nokia Lumia 820 is on ebay and has been since Saturday, it ends this coming Saturday. I ordered a Nexus 4 on Saturday also so I would hopefully receive the device before I have to send off my lumia.
The shipping estimate is 1-2 weeks but I was hoping for 1 week, I read a cnet article which said it was more like 2 days... but XDA posts seem to conflict this.
My order has no status, it's not a "PreOrder", it's not been shipped and it doesn't even say processing... All I have is this:
Your order has been sent to Google Commerce Ltd.
Google Commerce Ltd is responsible for charging and shipping your order. Have questions? Contact Google Commerce Ltd.

Is there anyone who ordered recently who can shed light on the supply information? I can wait 2 weeks but I've been reading horror stories about it taking longer than that on here.
My issue is, when my Lumia 820 sells on Saturday and I send it off, I'll have no other mobile device... It's not like I can go and buy a cheap PAYG one either because I have a microsim.
Should I wait this out? Or Should I just cancel my order and go buy something else? Phones 4 U are selling the Xperia S for £179.99 on PAYG at the moment..
That's what happened to me!

Get a sim adapter (pennies) and use an old dumb phone / borrow one from someone for a few days. You'll live.

Still don't have the google received your order update yet but oh well, I'm in the same boat too. I don't have a phone at the moment and it's gonna suck really bad if I have to wait 2 weeks!
Just incase anyone else is reading this...
There wasn't really anything to worry about. Ordered on Saturday 9th, Dispatched Email Monday 11th, out for delivery Tuesday 12th.

So i ordered a Nexus 5 on the 20th of January. Google promptly shipped it out. I was supposed to receive it on the 24th of January, the tracker showed Out for delivery by today (Coming out of Concord, ON). I waited all day at home, no package. I called UPS to find out whats going on, the rep informed me that the package will be delivered on Monday January 27th, I would receive an "assurance" call on January 27 from UPS to assure me that my package will be delivered that day, I did not get that assurance call. On Monday, the tracker showed the same thing Out for delivery (Coming out of Concord, ON), the entire day passes, and still no package.
If UPS had lost my package they should inform me, they have all my information on hand, but they never bothered to do so. OK, so I call UPS and explain the situation to the customer service rep, who informs that they don't know where my package is, last known location was Concord ON on January 24th and to get my shipper to open a lost package investigation with UPS.
At this point, I called Google to inform them of the situation who proceeded with opening an "investigation" with UPS to figure out where my package is. I was given 2 options from Google
(1) one is to open an investigation to figure out where my Nexus 5
(2) cancel my order and re-order with Google (which I can't do because the Nexus 5 16GB model is out of stock on their website)

tl;dr : UPS lost/stole my Nexus 5. The last known location is Concord, ON. They do not know where my package is beyond that.
While that does suck, Google has SUPERB customer service and you have nothing to worry about; except a slightly longer wait than you might have desired. UPS also is usually really good, so if a theft/loss did occur on their part, I'm sure they'll take care of you as well.
I know how you feel. Ordered mines on the 18th and it finally came in yesterday, box was ripped up, phone gone. stupid ups. The best of luck to you!

... I'm in exactly, and I mean exactly the same boat. My Nexus was supposed to be delivered on the 28th. It made it to Concord Ontario no problem then sat there.
The tracking said it was on the truck and would be delivered today, the 29th. That was in the morning. It's now after 9pm and tracking still says the same... I'm worried now.

Had this happen with USPS many times with ordering stuff online. The tracking will say "delivered" however was not in my mailbox. I eventually get my package however one time I bought g2x from eBay gave em my old shipping address by mistake. As my old address was default by paypal. Called USPS and they said they personally held my package. And that it was being sent to out to me. Well that never happened and in hindsite glad I didn't get that phone as it turns out that was a POS phone lol. Still sucked to pay $150 and nothing usps or eBay/paypal could do for me except say sorry. Of course the seller didn't insure my package

That is really crappy man, sorry to say so, but chances are your phone is also missing. Give UPS a call to confirm, don't leave it to chance. The tracker keeps saying the package will be delivered today, until you report it missing.
To make the best of a crappy situation Google customer service is pretty good. If UPS says missing, launch an investigation with Google. They will refund your order if you choose to go that route.
I'm still waiting on an answer from Google to see what they found from their investigation.

... Ok, so phoning UPS is definitely the first step right? Even though they won't do anything, they need to confirm that it's missing. Only after its confirmed missing, phone Google.
Will start the process in the morning I guess. Sheesh... What a let down.
1LifeInAnalog on Twitter
Yes. Call ups to confirm missing/stolen phone. Then call Google and launch a missing phone investigation.

Stealing phones is pretty stupid thing to do since Google can easily block stolen phones from network use

Solutions have been given
Contact UPS, then contact Google. Google should have insured the package for its worth
Good luck
