I have a google nexus 7 and before the last google music update I was able to say in google Now something like "play shake it out" and it would launch google music with the song requested playing. Now it just shows me search results. Is it just mine or was the feature taken out (which would suck cause I liked it alot)
I just asked it to play guns and roses and it played fine.

Based on your response I tried asking for artist instead of just songs and when I ask for an artist it launches google music with one of the artist songs playing but when I ask for a song then I get search results.
Could someone try asking for a song and see if they get the same results which would mean they changed it since before I could ask for a song and it would play the song

Try saying "Listen to song name" https://support.google.com/nexus/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2583298&topic=2566670&ctx=topic
It works for me.
Took me almost 10 tries to get it to play Sublime.

Hey everyone. I'm just letting you all know about this app I wrote for Android. Its called "Goonchie Blunch" and right now its like 5th on the list of Just In - Games. It just plays some drum-set sounds. If you click start, then click to the beat at least 8 times, the beat will loop by itself and you can continue to play drums. I think its a lot of fun. I put on a music app and some song I enjoy, then try to match the beat of it as I play the drums too. Well you should all download it and tell me what you think, oh and give it a 5 star rating.
EDIT: Already on version 9 in 2 days! Now it works on Droid, still unsure for Vogue 240x320... Volume works, no crashes! And there are now preview images before you download it. Search the market for "Blunch", it should be the only one that comes up.

Is it free?
does it support small screens?
Yes its free. I paid a $25 developer's fee to publish a free app, but to publish paid apps I think you need to pay like a thousand bucks.
As for the small screen, I programmed the layout using density independent pixel spacing, which means it should all fit on the screen. I tested it on my Vogue 320x480, and the Droid, but not 240x320. Someone can tell me how it looks 240x320 possibly?
One review up so far says its too laggy, but really they are buttons and a button is activated not when you press it but when you release. This should help the timing of the beat! I'm considering changing it so as soon as you touch a button, the sound plays, because that would be quicker.
Bumpity bump bump. Anyone out there willing to take the time and review my app on the market? I sure would enjoy it, plus I'm looking for ideas.
I'm impressed. I've been waiting for two alvulms to show up on Zune and one isn't even on iTunes but they have it. I'm sold.
When will the updated Android Market get pushed out.

Make an account using a proxy, after that you can just use google music freely. Anyone can share the new google music apk? I heard it's already available on the market but since we are from Europe it doesn't show up for us.
probably in about 2 years
Not sure on that one. I'm really liking where Google is going with their ecosystem. I didn't expect their store to have this many albums I needed (still looking and buying ) since I don't have mainstream musical tastes. I guess I'm gonna be upgrading to another android phone soon.

Do you still have to upload ur music via music manager? Or does the music manager simply compare your songs to those in its server and comprise your Google music collection based on the songs that match its database? Waiting days to upload thousands of songs just doesn't cut it.

Google would have been much better served to come out with something more along the lines of iTunes, a program you install on your computer and tell it what folder to watch for your music and a few minutes later, there is your 10k song library! Not to mention the stupid music manager issues. The very first time I installed Google Music to my computer I got some stupid "can only use 3 accounts on this machine" error and I couldn't upload my music until I found a workaround.....change the Mac address of my ethernet card. That's pretty weak. I think Google missed the boat with this one.
how fast does the streaming work on verizon's 3g? any hiccups in loading?
Overall, it's a great service. But Google made some mistakes,
1) No matching service.
2) Should have gone at least 25k songs to match iTunes match.
3) Not available outside the U.S.
4) Can't buy songs from your phone... yet.
The sharing and independent artists features are impressive though. And best feature of all.. IT'S FREE.
So now that this is released does anybody know if they will ever have an easy sync like iPhone and iTunes for our Android phones?
Songs you purchase from google don't count towards the 20k song limit. So, that really isn't much of an issue, IMO.
I love how they do carrier billing for tmobile, too. Guess it will come to other carriers soon.

1) a one-time issue when first uploading and only IF you own a lot of music. Just leave PC on overnight once and you're good.
2) iTunes cloud isn't free and then it still eats up all your local storage.
3) Will be soon. Plus you can use a proxy to get around it.
4) New market is being delivered as we speak. Not an issue, just takes a few days to push the app out to 100million+ users with varying phones and networks.
The sharing, artists, g+, is all awesome.
My only issue is that android app is still a little cumbersome and has an occasional issue with shuffle feature and replaying of same song. lol.
I know i know ....i have some movies on my mac that i would like to put over to my nexus 7 is there an easy way of doing this?

What format are the movies? And did you download them from iTunes? It's possible that a.) they are an unsupported format, which depending on the format a 3rd party video player might be able to play them and/or b.)they have drm and can only be played by iTunes or an iTunes device like an iPad or Apple TV

Yeah, .m4v is not a supported format. There is an app on the Play Store called VPlayer that says it can play .m4v. Give it a try.
try mxplayer, it played everything i have so far, buttery smooth too.

I had problems with VLC player last night. I put a TV show, .mkv on it, and it was definitely choppy at times and got color distortion at times.
Those digital copies are usually loaded with DRM.
I mean, totally makes sense to copy protect a copy you're giving to someone who actually paid for the full version.

Does this VLC link work for people? I got it installed, and it comes up, prompts me that it's beta and may cause my kittens to die a premature death, and then within 2 or 3 seconds promptly crashes/closes. I've tried several times and same result. Anyone got a fix?

VLC beta (more like alpha) doesn't work well for me at all either. I've had the best results with MX Player.

No go on that.....I've tried all the players for some reason its not working
I'm pretty sure it's because of DRM issues.
All the movies I backup on my MacBook are in .m4v format... I just change the file extension to .mp4 and all is good for playing on my phone and Windows pc's. If that doesn't work then it has to be DRM issues.

Hello, google added the who plays this song functionality recently to google voice search, I just tried it and being in Canada it stated it's not available in my country.
I've never bought songs from google so I've never checked but I assume google music isn't available for purchase in Canada. On one hand I understand but even if it can't offer to sell me the song it could still give me the name if it has a hit? I guess if they can't sell you the song it's not worth it to them to give you the result.
I haven't tried "Who sings this song?" I have said "What's this song?" and received a response. (I'm in the US)

Does not work for me 2..when i say that it always say some same old song..google is so US centric..google reader wont even start(just says country not suported) and all other readers works fine..map navigation needs modifited apk to work (yes google can enable it with just one bit changed but it want) ..google music does not work 2 and so on..but i dont care about google as long there is xda.

I meant to title 'What's this song?' but same difference. I get they can't sell me the song but they could be nice and provide the answer.
I'm back with Android after about 1 1/2 years with IOS iPhone 6. Is there a app that comes close to Apples iTunes Radio? I got used to listening to that because it was built into IOS. I know there is Pandora, Slacker..ect. Which one is the easiest and free of course. Most of those have a limit of 6 skips a hour. I seen there is Double twist music player, but is that also radio as well? I'm looking for something where I can save certain fav groups and play that style of music. Please help me out.
Not sure this is EXACTLY what you're looking for, but IHeartRadio is a legit online radio service. You can't find specific songs like Pandora, but you can find radio stations who are simulcasting online along with their terrestrial broadcasts. I use it occasionally when I want to hear live talk shows or even the occasional commercial lol
