Bootloader - Motorola Droid Bionic

I sent an email to motoroladev asking for code to unlock bootloader. They told me the purpose of efuse was to identify an unauthorized program, like it is anti virus in behavior and would put phone into recovery until an authorized program was installed. They called it ecology or efocus something like that.

Wouldn't it have just been easier for you to copy & paste the email response you received?
Also, if unlocking the bootloader were as simple as emailing Motorola, don't you think we'd all have done that already?

You never know. Might get a sympathetic employee to help out.

Sometimes the easiest methods are ignored because they are expected not to work.
Like he said, you never know if you'll get a sympathetic employee, but to release that info could cost his job.
A more likely case would be that they can give it out if asked, but are instructed not to offer the info, and to not advertise that they have the info.
Was told to do this several times back when I worked retail, deals that were in the system, but unadvertised, for whatever reason.
Never hurts to ask.

Developer atrix unlocked bootloader

So mods I know that there is a marketplace but I thought it be appropriate for this one phone...
Go ahead and close this if im wrong. Thanks!
So I have a developer atrix that is factory unlocked, uncapped data speeds, and most importantly an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER.
I was thinking maybe someone here could really use it and would like to buy it to develop as I don't really know what I can do with it.
So ya im willing to sell to help out the xda community...
I am an experienced member here.
Thanks,

What happens when you boot with Vol + Down?
If i press volume up when booting it starts rsd protocol and volume down when booting it gives fast boot and other options.
Stupid question. If this gets in the hands of a developer who knows what to do can this provide a way to unlock the bootloader on regular phones? I assume not unless someone is able to crack the encryption?

Dont think so, someone else had one a couple of weeks ago. Todblt said it was just unlocked but made no difference as to how to unlock it.
Unsecured engineering devices do not give you any special advantage towards unlocking the bootloader. They do however, give developers a great deal of freedom to safely explore the possibilities of what can be done and are a very rare and valuable asset to any serious hacking endevours.
They often have earlier hardware though and sometimes don't perform up to spec with release consumer devices.
They should be handled very responsibly and access to the engineering builds that they run can be a vital asset too.
so is my bootloader unlocked?
coool!!!!!!!really cool!
It is a big news for today!
u need a locked device for compare the files...and trying rewrite the rights on lock device....soo....
I don't know anything about developing but this seems cool if it gets into the right hands. Can some developer please get his hands on this and start cracking.
Remember if you do get the bootloader unlocked this is waiting for you...

I heard they unlocked it by luck, Apparently it was encrypted as much as the Atrix was.
I emailed geohot about the bounty for the bootloader. I know he could use the money for his legal services against sony. Maybe if more people emailed him, it would get his attention more. I'm hoping for some kind of response from him. His email is [email protected] for other people who would like to try to get his attention.

it was locked, but it wasn't signed. so all they had to do was to flash the phone with an unlocked bootloader just like the one we have for the atrix. but since we can't sign it, it wouldn't work.

[Q] I really could use some help please...

First off, I apologize if I come off as "noobish". I joined this site about 10 minutes ago. Anyway, last week I left my Samsung Captivate unattended (like the drunken fool I am), someone guessed my pattern too many times and now I'm at the "too many pattern attempts" screen and of course I do not have a Google account. From my understanding, after readin some threads on here, one of the solutions is to use the ODIN program to flash the phone, is that correct? And also, is there any possible way, via ODIN or some other program, for me to view my text messages before I flash it and lose everything? I would very much like to know the contents of the texts I've been receiving all week. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this, and perhaps help me out.
The too many pattern attempts only locks the phone for a set time. Sounds to me like you "found" a phone that you want help with. Why not take it to at&t and have them return it or ask them for assistance if you are indeed the rightful owner.
I can assure you I'm the righful owner. I left my phone unattended at a party and my fantastic friends tried guessin my pattern too many times. I'm now stuck at a screen where you have to enter your Google account. Like a dumbass I didn't create a Google account when I first purchased the phone. So now I'm locked out of my phone for good. And I've already been to AT&T. We tried the hard reset, and just does not work and they won't give me a new phone.
**** flashed with Odin and create a new Google acc or call art and said that u lost the phone and paid those 125 but u still can keep the phone u have now and sell it truogh Craigslist or some place like that !

So its going to verify whatever he puts in there to a "blank" file, it won't match The point of entering the Gmail account is a second means of verification, if there is no account registered to the phone, it won't work.

I think you are straight up lying. dude, att isn't going to just say "sorry, can't help you" if its really your phone. plus, Google account creation is (almost) unsurpassable when you insert sim card for first time. please tell us how you used market without Google account because im pretty sure its more secure than that(especially for situations like the one you brought here).
if its truly your phone, go to att tomorrow, give them the last four of your social security no. and they will be more than happy to reset your phone.
btw none of the people who use XDA frequently have ever come across someone who hasn't created a Google account for market use.

Didn't they come back and say that the boot loaders would be locked but would provide tools to unlock after you agree to void warranty online? (Similar to what Moto is doing)

yes. and if you own a RAIDER, which is the version of the vivid for every other country but ours, you can unlock it from htcdev.com. the vivid on AT&T is specifically locked down and cannot be unlocked by using their unlocking tool.
This is specific to the AT&T Vivid, and not specific to the HTC Holiday/Raider

to expand on this a little more, the issue stems from the fact that the Raider IS unlockable and the vivid is not. when HTC was asked about it, they said AT&T was to blame, when AT&T was confronted, they said its HTC's decision to lock the bootloader. we are being lied to by someone, and at this point, i wouldnt be surprised if it was both companies lying to us. the bs needs to stop and they need to realize that we are customers, we purchase a device, and we want to be in control of that device. if i wanted someone else to control what i do with my device, i would get an iphone.

the bootloader unlock tool came about because of one of these petitions. if i lived in canada, i would have an unlocked bootloader right now because of the petition that caused the htcdev site to exist.
And the unlock of the motorola atrix bootloader came out shortly after one of these was started and had a few thousand signatures.
Not saying these were the sole cause but I'm sure it was at least a factor that helped push the company to unlocking.

I didn't say it did. But it gave statistics to how people felt about it. Specifically over 11,000 signatures. And it got the issue put in front of the media.

Why do you think motorola released unlocked bootloaders? Positive public opinion = new customers. That's the whole point of these petitions.
Given to us? *Motorola's* update to gingerbread for the Atrix unlocked all the bootloaders. The alternate unlock method made it so you can flash previous sbf's, and that was made possible from the leaked build of gingerbread *motorola* had made.

I have to type this quick, but I followed the thread about unlocking the Atrix HD (mb886) using this thread

and everything worked like a charm, on the recovery boot screen it says "UNLOCKED status code 3" or whatever it's supposed to say right before you weap tears of joy. Thing is, once it boots up, it still asks for sim unlock PIN. Any ideas?
Rock it gents.
That only unlocks your bootloader it has nothing to do with Sim unlocking.

[development] bypassing/rewriting bootloader

Hi sorry if this is the wrong section.
I like many other people have an Xperia z with bootloader unlock status = no.
I thought this could be a place to discus possible solutions and I will keep the opening post up to date with the latest development if any.
I do not claim to have extensive knowledge on such matters and therefore I am opening my phone up for testing any ideas devs may have to help out with development.
I am more than willing to read up and learn as much as I can to help out with this and I have one idea to propose that I'm sure will be up for critique.
My proposed idea is to place a kernel with the correct signature in an ftf that when flashed opens up all partitions to read/write then from there we in theory could change the fastboot permissions to yes or flash an unlockable bootloader image (do we have a system dump containing this?)
As I say thus is only an idea and I am willing to help out any dev that can help with this. I would also be willing to make a donation towards the dev(s) that help achieve this, and I am sure many others will too.

Getting it signed is mostly the issue.
If we could do that we wouldn't need to unlock the boatloader, as the system would accept what we flashed.
It would be nice if the method Sony use to sign was leaked, that would make things a bit easier..
I've spent a few weeks trying to find exploits, the way the moto devices were unlocked, by breaking the trust kernel, but I Can't see anything, and haven't got anywhere with it yet.

I had a thought the other day about the kernel that comes with Sony's AOSP, if it's signed by Sony I wondered if that or the full ROM could be put in an ftf and flashed, which I assume would/could give us the possibility to then be able to unlock.

Any idea is better than no idea mate.
Changing imei is risk I think our best bet is to look into working out the Sony signing method then creating a kernel signed in this way to rewrite all partitions to that of an unlocked device (unless devs then adopt signing all kernels in this fashion) or if we use an exploit as seen by Dan Rosenberg on the s4.
