I have to type this quick, but I followed the thread about unlocking the Atrix HD (mb886) using this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226504
and everything worked like a charm, on the recovery boot screen it says "UNLOCKED status code 3" or whatever it's supposed to say right before you weap tears of joy. Thing is, once it boots up, it still asks for sim unlock PIN. Any ideas?
Rock it gents.
That only unlocks your bootloader it has nothing to do with Sim unlocking.
As far as I know there is no way to unlock Sim in the hd forums unless you use companies online

Ok. That makes sense.
I have tried 2 companies so far, unlockunit.com and Unlockcellphonecode.com
unlock unit provided a refund after not working, and unlockcellphonecode.com has been over a week now- but I will say that costumer service is excellent. Reading other posts, I'll try americanunlocker.com
You are all great. I hope one day to contribute and help others like you have been for me. Big thanks. :good:
Try cellunlocker.net that's the site I've used to unlock all my other phones when I needed to

Go on Amazon and buy Net10 AT&T micro sim card it will work without having to unlock network only 45 dollars per month.

It wont be long until you all figure out as a collective how to rule the code- as long as you use your powers to help other noobs like us :silly:
I use Solavei for my wireless, it's $55 a month, and when you refer 3 people, they take $20 off your bill EVERY month, this continues until they pay you- a pre loaded visa card that just keeps giving. That's why I want my android up and running
Thanks all for the advice and help. Hopefully I'll get an answer from company number 3.
I'll keep everyone posted as the news unfolds.
So speaking of the bootloader, i'm hung up on windows with the run.bat. It hangs up at the daemon started successfully. It doesn't do a thing. I'm rooted and its on debugging mode and i've ran it as an admin. What am i doing wrong?

I had the same problem using motofail2go. I search the forum and found motochopper.
Downloaded and installed it, and it worked the first time.

Well, American unlockers came through for me to unlock my Sim. Have 2 codes from them. Not much for costumer service, but best results from all my looking around! Looking forward to exploring this new world with you all

Same here. American Unlocker took *forever* to send me the unlock code (more than a week after payment), and they completely ignored my repeated emails, calls, Facebook messages, etc. I was pretty livid. That said, they eventually sent me the code and it worked.

I know right? But I would much rather have someone totally ignore me and deliver, rather play happy and be worse off. I totally called and emailed, but I was so happy when I got those codes! and to have them work?? Oh yea.

Go ahead and close this if im wrong. Thanks!
So I have a developer atrix that is factory unlocked, uncapped data speeds, and most importantly an UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER.
I was thinking maybe someone here could really use it and would like to buy it to develop as I don't really know what I can do with it.

What happens when you boot with Vol + Down?
If i press volume up when booting it starts rsd protocol and volume down when booting it gives fast boot and other options.
Stupid question. If this gets in the hands of a developer who knows what to do can this provide a way to unlock the bootloader on regular phones? I assume not unless someone is able to crack the encryption?

Dont think so, someone else had one a couple of weeks ago. Todblt said it was just unlocked but made no difference as to how to unlock it.
Unsecured engineering devices do not give you any special advantage towards unlocking the bootloader. They do however, give developers a great deal of freedom to safely explore the possibilities of what can be done and are a very rare and valuable asset to any serious hacking endevours.
They often have earlier hardware though and sometimes don't perform up to spec with release consumer devices.
They should be handled very responsibly and access to the engineering builds that they run can be a vital asset too.
so is my bootloader unlocked?
coool!!!!!!!really cool!
It is a big news for today!
u need a locked device for compare the files...and trying rewrite the rights on lock device....soo....
I don't know anything about developing but this seems cool if it gets into the right hands. Can some developer please get his hands on this and start cracking.
Remember if you do get the bootloader unlocked this is waiting for you...

I heard they unlocked it by luck, Apparently it was encrypted as much as the Atrix was.
I emailed geohot about the bounty for the bootloader. I know he could use the money for his legal services against sony. Maybe if more people emailed him, it would get his attention more. I'm hoping for some kind of response from him. His email is [email protected] for other people who would like to try to get his attention.

it was locked, but it wasn't signed. so all they had to do was to flash the phone with an unlocked bootloader just like the one we have for the atrix. but since we can't sign it, it wouldn't work.
I sent an email to motoroladev asking for code to unlock bootloader. They told me the purpose of efuse was to identify an unauthorized program, like it is anti virus in behavior and would put phone into recovery until an authorized program was installed. They called it ecology or efocus something like that.

Wouldn't it have just been easier for you to copy & paste the email response you received?
Also, if unlocking the bootloader were as simple as emailing Motorola, don't you think we'd all have done that already?
You never know. Might get a sympathetic employee to help out.

Sometimes the easiest methods are ignored because they are expected not to work.
Like he said, you never know if you'll get a sympathetic employee, but to release that info could cost his job.
A more likely case would be that they can give it out if asked, but are instructed not to offer the info, and to not advertise that they have the info.
Was told to do this several times back when I worked retail, deals that were in the system, but unadvertised, for whatever reason.
Never hurts to ask.

You bought a phone knowing it was locked and had security. Fast isn't how this type of things work. More like impossible.
I can't recall an android device which has had its bootloader exploited.
Finding the algorithm is in the realm of possibility... but it would take an enormous amount of man hours and even then we don't know how everything is done correctly. By the time is would eventually be achieved we'd be moved onto a new device, and not have been so silly as to have gotten a locked bootloader in the first place.
I don't think its silly. Not everyone had an xda account or had been reading about this stuff. Many people expected android to be android. Which is quite normal for people that aren't developers.
With that being said I will say what's silly is trying. It will take a long amount of time like Matt is saying.

Hi all
There's a manual for Sprint HTC One http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44143251
Guys there use an apk from system to unlock sim (OMADM Test Client)
We have some similar apks in /system/app/ but I couldn't launch them, there should be some other command rather than there on HTC
Maybe anyone more familiar with adb could help
I've also came across the HTC unlock tool for Sprint. That would be awesome if someone could take a look at the possible usage of this approach for Moto X.
We have SprintOMADM2.apk in /system/app/ for example. And some other apks. The trick is to make it launch, cause I've failed at this, when I read AndroidManifest.xml from there I can't get what to use. I tried some variants but shell gave me error message. So I hope for some expert help in this issue

count me in, Im willing to give out 10$ to get my phone unlocked
Wow $40 already on table. I could do some research but I don't have sprint moto x. Lol
I'm willing to go up to 30 if someone finds a solution... Getting desperate. If someone finds a way 30 dollars is nothing for the genius that figures it out

i'm going on 3 days now with nothing and getting very impatient because i really can't use the phone without root as i use some apps extensively each day that require it.
so how long did it take for your unlock code to arrive?
also, is it possible to load other roms using the mi flash tool without root? i wasn't sure about that since i've only ever loaded other roms with twrp
almost instantly for me. Got the code via text literally 3 mins after I applied online. I'm located in the US btw. Not that would matter. Or would it?

Yes in the complaint section. I was polite and asked it to be urgent.
Took 5 days for me
What was the reason you guys used? I filled out the form basically saying I want to root and have full control of my device. Was that good enough or nah? I heard they handing out rejections left and right.
Requested mine an hour ago. Nothing yet.
Requested mine yesterday. Still none.

I know this is something new to a lot of us,(yours truly included) giving a reason why we wish to unlock.
Good/bad,or indifferent,it's their way & as long as the request sounds as if you know what you're doing/willing to take responsibility for whatever happens post-unlock,my guess is that's all they want to hear,to combat potential "My phone won't work/stuck/bootloops" warranty claims.
I told them as much, accepting responsibility for my phone & that I wish to use an aftermarket/developer ROM.
Turns out,I didn't need to ask, mine was already unlocked, but,I got the OK in about 3-4 days.
finally got my unlock after posting in complaints as suggested and then giving them more information - after doing that i got it a few hours later.
already unlocked, rooted, xposed - man this phone is so so awesome once you get that done.
I got mine very quick I just wrote I like the mi mix as my reason of unlocking bootloader.

This process, in itself, is frustrating. Inefficient. And puts into the question the service and organization methodology of Xiaomi.
48hours have come and gone, and earlier this morning was replied about there 10 day procedure. Yeah, ok. 10 days to wait. Hmmm
