CyanogenMod 9 Nightly and 720p videos - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. Latest CyanogenMod 9 Nightly working pretty fine, but because lack of hardware acceleration 720p/1080p videos lagging. Do you guys also experiencing this problem?

No problem, It's alright
Thanks

Same problem. For me especially missing AC3 makes software audio decoding necessary and that makes even playing 720 video a lot choppy.

i am using mx player with no problem

[Q] Problem with YouTube video playback

Hello,
Suddenly I have a problem with YouTube video playback. The videos start streaming ok, but the appear small (not fullscreen) and very low quality. It used to work fine. The locally recorded videos play nice even in 720p. The problem is with the streaming video player.
I installed the LagFix (which works miracles) at somepoint earlier. Do you think that this could cause this problem? Any one else has seen it?
Thanks,
Michael

mkv 720p with dice player/mxplayer?

Hi
I am about to buy an optimus 2x, but before that i have to know once and for all-
does 720p mkv work with dice player/mxplayer with hardware decoding at least decently?
i sold my i9000 to replace it, how are the video capabilities of the 2X if you compare it to the i9000?
i'd appreciate a fast answer- the deal is supposed to be done tomorrow
thanks
The o2x can only hardware-decode a very limited number of 720p videos (some tv shows you "find" on the internet works, other do not, most movies lag), however with software decoding (for example with mx player) it can play another bunch of videos, still not all though. Do not buy this phone for it's video playback capabilities.

Guys.... this is wrong section for you...

Really?
Haven't had a problem yet.
720p with dolby digital (software audio decode mode), DTS (software decode mode).
MP4 with CABAC and 3+ ref frames, shouldn't be possible but it works fine and in hardware too.
HDMI output is clean and has no issues, even with 25ft cables.
Maybe I'm lucky, maybe ergoen wasn't...
I really haven't found a movie that I can't play, I even stream them from my PC/router by mounting the drives in cifs manager and playing them in either mx player or quick pic player.
640x480= 480p
Screen Res= 800x480
SD space=limited
Hardware mode seems to get better battery life, software decoding a 720p movie used around 95% battery over 2 hours with airplane mode on
Hardware decoding a 480p TV show used 25% in 50 minutes, airplane mode on.

MX Player Problem

My HW acceleration has broken, I have my videos encoded in h.264 and i can't h/w decode them. vplayer is fine on the other hand.
bumpity bump bump anyone else having this issue?
This is a codec issue on their end. Change the acceleration to S/W fast or similar for video playback. Of course, it's software, but it still works.
Is it a bug on their end? I tried playing some videos in the 'gallery' player and it still stutters, unless the OP's videos are completely broken?
I could have sworn it was working before i had to factory reset it..

Lagging video playback

I m trying to play 720p mkv videos with my LG optimus 4xhd. The performance is mostly decent in terms of both audio and video but there is sometimes little lagging and twitch in both audio and video. I have tried many different video players and MX player with hw acceleration has offered by far the best performance. It would still be desirable to have lag free video experience so, I would like to know if there is any way to do this with optimus 4xhd, or do I just have to accept that having a PC like flawless video experience with tegra 3 device just is not possible?
I am currently on CM 10.1 RC2 rom and have rooted and unlocked the bootloader.
Thanks for your help in advance.

It's probably ROMs bug, try some newer nightie. I'm on JB and i play 1080p with absolutely no problem so it's not hardware associated problem. I use BS player.
I would like to stick with RC versions since at least since I last checked about a week ago, there was some gps and bluetooth audio problems for me with latest nighty version at that time. In RC 3 and 4 I on the other hand lost IMEI and could not make phone calls, but if there is no other way, I guess I have to give latest nighty version a shot, since if I remember correctly, I had this problem with both LG stock roms as well.
And I have also tried BS player, but still in some parts there is slightly noticeable lag sometimes.

[Q] S3 mini video crashes

Dear all,
Lately I experience a lot of crashes/problems playing video.
I'm using a s3 mini, with a quite up-to-date CM11 custom ROM. It's rooted, and in general it works rather smooth. The only thing, to maintain an acceptable battery life, I use greenify and Deep Sleep Battery Pro + some tasker stuff to finetune what I believe is necessary to run (or not) while sleeping of when display is off. (like: airplane mode at night, no wifi when I'm not at home).
My problems occur using MX Player as a video player.
(1) SHOULD H/W+ decoder work with CM11 on i8910?
Using H/W+ decoder for sure crashes MX Player from the moment it starts to play.
Using H/W decoder works when I don't touch any settings, but for sure it doesn't work all the time.
Playing video's on S/W decoder doesn't look reliable. Sometimes it works, sometimes it causes major problems with video and sound not synchronized.
As I don't know for sure how it works:
(2) Is decoding done by firmware or by software I need to install myself? Are 'all' players using the same decoders?
(3) When I stream video's, it seems to work much better. Youtube or Plex, most of the time I can use it without problems. But since about a month, Plex is giving me more and more problems. Mostly video/audio not in sync / video's which just won't be played by plex. But I can't figure out if it's a Plex-related problem, a decoder-related problem or a problem with the original video-files.
Maybe logcat and MX Player-log in attachment can help.
Any advise with troubleshooting or finding a solution is welcome.
(4) Lately I read somewhere that video-crash could be an issue with CM11, which could be solved with going back to CM10.2 What do you think about that? And do you think CM10.2 can give the same overall mini-experience as CM11?
Thanks for reading and helping out.
About H/W+ decoder, it never worked for me either ok anything based on CM 11.
