So, I'm pretty curious. I've not been on this forum that long but what all you guys do is simply amazing. How/where did you guys learn all this ROM making, porting, linux development and things?
I'm off to Uni next year and I'd like to study programming. So could you give me a little insight to how you guys got started?
Thanks

That's good to hear. So how did you get started. Reading documents/books etc? Help from other people?
I would also like some insight on this topic.
Also good luck in programming. I have it now. Intro to pseudocode and in a few weeks we're starting java. It's boring as hell, but the exams are easy. So far I'm a straight A in that class. lol

I know! I was thinking maybe his wife had enough of him being on xda and made him close his account. Of course I have no idea though. Remember when she threw his touchpad in the toilet? Really sad that he's gone...
Wondering myself what happened. His loss will be a large blow to the community so hopefully he'll be back. Just gunna keep my fingers crossed.

Just woke up to the news. I was shocked. That was out of nowhere. Especially after he just came out with new stuff.
RIP
It must have been something very serious to cause him to totally close his account and threads right after releasing new builds.
:crying:
Big blow to the Touchpad community. Hopefully it wasn't a mistake or troll.
Going back and reading some of the posts that SGA left yesterday makes me think something doesn't feel right. He showed no intention of stopping this. I'm confused.

Of course. He was the one who made a request to the mod to have him removed from xda. Abrupt but we should respect his decision and thank him for endless hours in developing this rom

i was thinking it was wife related too. considering she dumped his TP in the toilet once before. i'm sad to see him go, but i can understand he has more important priorities. if you read this SGA thanks for all your efforts
RIP
I may suggested that his wife used his account to inform the mod to remove his account? Just kidding, hope he can back soon

Hey you never know. Its so damn sad. He was a great developer for the touchpad. His account has been permanently deleted too.
Very sad news. Let's hope he and and his family is ok, and nothing terrible happened.
See ya later, bro and thnx for your legendary work here!
The only hint I could find was this:
I'm having major connectivity issues at home, and am starting to think I've been throttled by my provider. I've synced the repos so many times from scratch since I've moved here that at about 10GB per repo I'm probably around 100GB in the last few days. and I still need to fetch the 4.2.2 source (now that I've got all the ICS and JB ROMs built).

But this off cause wouldn't be a reason to leave our community without a word of goodbye. So I fear that something personal happend, a stroke of fate. :crying:
Otherwise, if it should be true that his wife was doing all of that she should know how much we miss him too and that we hope of a reincarnation in form of a SGA2.
Anyway we wish you and your family all the best: "So Long, and Thanks For All the Fish!"
Thanks, SGA, for everything. You're a class act. I hope that everything is okay.

Damn...thats rough.
Yes, very odd to dissapear so suddenly. Similar to when OaT left touchpad suddenly as he felt underappreciated as a developer (rightly so) but we learnt our lessons and treated SGA well.
Until we have news, SGA thank you for all your help. I'm still running your ICS ROM because it's just so stable. Good luck and I hope everything is ok!

You all do this dev a great disservice with this presumptious crap. Leave him alone. If he comes back, great. If he doesn't, be thankful for what he gave us. As far as I'm concerned, the moderator should shut this thread down.
As a user of his work, i certainly hope all is well. Should he decide to come back, i think we can find a place for him again.
That said, while i will leave this open, please do not go off the rails with crazy theories, or harassing him or the staff for more info. If he says something, that is fine.. but lets keep this simple, ok guys?
Just wanted to alsoexpress my appreciation for SGA. He will be missed. Hope all is well with him.

Thanks for the video. Friday's almost here!
I didn't realize they put the power button on the top left. That's a weird spot to put it...I do like that they put the proximity sensors on the left side of the front. That is a major design flaw on my s3 at the moment (every time I'm on a phone call and I try to swipe down notifications, screen will turn off since it registers my thumb.)

This was the same problem with the EVO 4G LTE. I'd always end up tripping the proximity sensor when I swiped down the notification bar during calls and what not. I like the new position, and it adds a little more industrial aspect to the overall look of the handset.

explicit, how is that battery holding up?
Also, it might be a network issue, but my LTE would have trouble with incoming texts that are more than 160 chars. So I would receive the 2nd text first, then the initial text would come in second. (When one long text gets broken down into 2). I was wondering if the One did this too.

Considering that some people who flashed AOSP based roms ended up with hard bricks, I would advise against flashing AOSP based roms. However, the choice is yours.

In the past months is a fairly broad net. It seems to have quieted down as of late, but as always it's a "at your own risk" sort of deal. It certainly doesn't hurt to check some of the suspected problem spots if you do flash though (such as your proc min/max frequencies).

Hey tool read the entire post and response. I know of one a month ago, that right there is valid enough. You are a worthless cook and a tool, anything you say has no credibility, anybody willing to listen to you deserves anything and everything that happens to their phone.

Hi I haven't posted any threads or questions in quite a while. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this question that I have, and that is the following.
I have the HTC Desire 510 phone and after using it I discovered that the camera quality is pretty low on the camera settings for photos that are taken using the stock camera that is built into the phone. I was wondering if there is a way to get better quality photos on it, by using a third party app?
