Cannot disable auto-firmware update - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone please tell me how to an automatic firmware update from attempting to install?
I have N7000DXLP9-------4.0.3-----------2012 May-----------N7000OLBLP6--------Singapore (SingTel) ROM installed and a few days ago, I got a notification saying that there was an automatic FW update. I assume this is the official Samsung release of ICS which is trying to install.
The only options presented are
Install
Postpone
If I allow it to install, it re-boots the phone then fails. The only option I have then is to postpone for 3 hours after which the install notification re-appears. Can I delete/disable the downloaded package using Root Explorer?
Would it help if I flashed the latest version 4.0.4?
I'm a bit out of my depth here.
Trevor

[Q&A] Official 5.0.2 Pre-Rooted

Q&A for Official 5.0.2 Pre-Rooted
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for Official 5.0.2 Pre-Rooted. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Can I flash it with other recovery than TWRP :/. Maybe it sounds weird but I don't bealive TWRP and prefer CWM
PS. I have 4.4.2 hope it don't brick my phone :X
Question. I already have 5.0.2. Can I just flash the recovery and flash SuperSU to get root access? If yes, where can I find the recovery?
What if i install this in a 6902?

Does this wipe other files on my phone or does it just install like a normal update?

if you are with 4.4.4 rooted and have a recovery you only need to clear cache before and after install . Update super su from playstore after install.
Root in official firmware ?
Hi, How i can root official firmware (.ftf) lolilpop for c6902 ?
Is there a method for lollipop yet? I flashed a prerooted rom but didn't flash the recovery and just rebooted.
Hi!
Can I flash Z1-lockeddualrecovery2.8.9-RELEASE.flashable right after flashing this Rom?
Hi, i'm having 4.4, 14.4.A.0.157. Rooted with dual recovery.
Based on my understanding, I just need to flash with pre-root.zip and NUTs Z1-lockeddualrecovery2.8.10-RELEASE.installer.zip. and only need to clear cache before and after install. (As in clear it from recover mode?) Update super su from playstore after install.
Then the phone consider as rooted?
I read through the whole thread and hope someone can clarify the step for me. Thank you.

Something you might want to look into is if you have some sort of Android Emulator on your PC (such as BlueStacks). If so, just terminate the process in the Task Manager and it should work.
I did a full wipe (data, system, cache, dalvik, etc), install the ROM, but not the recovery (i forgot), now I have a bootloop and does not like leaving, someone help me please?
having problems with this rom .... everything is working fine but i have random reboots...maybe 2 times daily...
anyone else have the same issue?

This is an issue many people have. Download it, then on the screen that says: Install now, Install later, or Don't install choose Don't install. Go into Software updates and remove the check mark from Auto-download system updates and it shouldn't bother you anymore. Hopefully soon HTC will release an official RUU with the update included. As of now there is no fix. I contacted HTC and Boost Mobile Technical Support and they both said there is nothing they can do about it.

Sorry. They aren't in the correct order. After the check mark is gone download and select Don't install again. It shouldn't bother you again.
Really thanks to you, it worked this time
Stock recovery is probably the answer
One a different device I had (a younger cousin to our fine desire 510) you couldn't apply updates without the stock recovery. I'll dig up the links of anyone is interested, but I'll bet that's the issue. I read a rumor that no one has a copy of stock recovery (can't remember the reason)? If so we're gonna need a RUU, then apply updates, then reinstall twrp and other goodies. I've got an update in the pipeline, now I know not to waste data on it
Edit : I didn't read close but one of the guy says he got update to install with the stock recovery and provides linkshttp://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-510/help/update-fails-to-install-t3076841

Updating via Firmware Finder

Hey guys. I found a new firmware that is approved for my device (not ROOTED) . It doesn't show up in my system update when I checked. So I tried the built in methods in the firmware finder app and it didn't show the latest update in the System Update app.
Previously, I have used the Proxy and DNS methods to install updates via firmware finder app, but now it seems those methods don't work as well. Are there any other ways to get the update?

That's "normal" nowadays. Huawei is shutting down it's own good sides. Like installing updates through FirmwareFinder and getting official bootloader unlock codes on Huaweis homepage. Some say it's still possible to install updates via dload. Check out this short thread.
btw it's not necessary to open multiple threads for one topic. Check the topics of existing threads. Most questions you encounter with FF were already answered.

Thank you. I'll check it out. I didn't mean to post multiple threads, I accidentally posted it on the discussion forum instead of the Q & A. So I couldn't find a way to delete from the app ?

Not getting any updates after having downloaded but not installed the Pie update

Hi everyone,
I know loads of people ask why they're not getting updates, I hope that my question is sufficiently different from those! If not then feel free to point me to the noob's corner.
In December I joined beta labs but never installed Pie beta before the programme was closed. Online I had the option to revert OTA but since I hadn't actually updated to Pie beta I didn't take that option.
In January I was offered the Pie update which I downloaded but then didn't install when I read that it was still full of bugs. I have disabled automatic updates in developer options which is how I was able to do this.
A few days after that my option of installing the Pie update I had downloaded disappeared and since then I have have not been offered any more updates. I have checked repeatedly. I asked support and they told me to try this:
Go to Settings > Apps and notifications > App info > Google Play services > Storage > Clear data and Clear cache
2. Settings > Security and location > Location Off
3. Soft reset: Press and hold at the same time Power key and Volume Up for Only 10 sec, until short phone vibration and Powered by Android message. Your phone will restart, without deleting your data.
4. Please remove the phone SIM card. (Also you can try it with SIM card from another operator)
5. After that, please check for the update availability via Wi-Fi network: Settings > System > System update > Check for update
Click to collapse
This didn't work. They have also suggested trying a SIM from another operator or doing a factory reset, neither of which I have tried yet. I will try another SIM when I get chance, but for me the factory reset is a the almost last resort - the last one is sending for repair under warranty, which I will wait until the last minute to do.
The step above about clearing the cache made me wonder - could the fact that I have previously downloaded but not installed an update be blocking the process? Where would this downloaded update be stored and how would I clear it? Is it in the cache or data of an app?
I will also try booting into recovery and clearing the cache partition, but my phone won't boot into recovery using buttons, I have to use ADB, which I cannot do right now.
Any suggestions welcome.
Cheers

Another XDA member by the handle THMSP posted the Internal OTA for Android PIE in the main "Android 9 PIE Updates" forum, on page 42 to be precise. You could try to download the OTA and "flash" it manually using a dialer code THMSP included in his inital post

Thanks for the tip. I didn't want to go down that road of sideloading updates from unknown sources, but it's good to know the option is there.
As it was, I tried an old SIM from a previous contract (therefore the SIM was no longer valid) and the phone immediately showed me the update. This is a tip worth knowing for anyone else that gets stuck (it was actually support which told me to try it, but I was skeptical and now please to see it worked).
Cheers
