Make sure drivers are installed like previously mentioned. Also run as administrator or make sure one click has admin rights.

second download this superoneclick: http://www.mediafire.com/?n7gd7ju2c5rbkt9
connect phone to pc on charge mode
if you have w xp you must install manually the x8 drivers(Google it)
when the root is done reboot the phone

Yep yep
Dont forget to install x8 driver and gordons gates
Use flashtool if SOC didnt work
Install driver from flashtool\driver
Make sure if your phone detected..
Finally
Click on padlock icon from flash tool
Done!

just install pccompanion to your computer!

.
I'm not a noob, so i just used flashtool instead

Man use superoneclick then connect your phone and install adb drivers...then root

Dell Steak 7 not rooting

Trying to get this rooted for a friend.. no luck thus far.
Also, not 100% sure, but I think the DS7 may be unmounting internal storage upon usb connection, WITHOUT me asking it to.

killing adbd. (should restart in a second or two)
The most trouble I had with mine when rooting was getting the adb drivers installed. Check in the device manager and make sure it shows as an adb device or superoneclick will not work.
Alternatively you could flash CWM and flash a superuser.pkg
Either way you need adb drivers obviously
I think its right..
This is what I'm seeing in Device manager.. (see pictures)
If I need to change the driver a link would be awesome.

I have rooted tons of devices before and none gave me more trouble then the DS7.
First copy the drivers from your internal SD card and extract them to a folder ADB on your C: drive.
Download the recovery also found somewhere in this forum. Then rename it to recovery.img and save it to your ADB folder on C:
Make sure you have the device in USB mode (off then hold volume down and power) till you get a screen with some white and some red text. Download the Fastboot and ADB drivers found elsewhere on this forum and extract all of those to the same folder. Depending on your computer x86/64 copy drivers from the folder Win32 to the ADB folder. Also copy the fastboot and all other associated files to the ADB folder. Now plug in you DS7 to your computer, you should see something pop up to try and install drivers if it doesn't find them go to the device manager right click and direct it to look in your adb folder on C.
Now you should bring up a command prompt and type C:\adb
Then type fastboot devices
you should get a ? fastboot
if you get this you should be fine now to flash the recovery
Type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
It took me like 5 days to figure this out. HOpe this doesn't sound to convoluted.

These instructions look accurate to me.
As it stands now it looks like the adb driver is installed. I would just try putting it in fastboot and type the adb devices command and see if it finds the device. If it does then flash the recovery and proceed to flash SU.
Sooo.... I cheated.
I backed up his user apps (he didn't have any super sensitive information on the device that he couldn't lose), factory reset, and used Gingerbreak, which immediately rooted it.
Going to start flashing ROMs now, but thanks for all the help. Normally I would try adb methods, but I don't have a ton of time to throw at this, as its not my device.
Good to hear you got it.
My personal preference in the newest Dell factory HC ROM. My DS7 didn't run very stable with any of DJ_Steve's builds unfortunately even though they were faster. Also for me Netflix was broken on those builds.
Good luck!

[Problem] when rooting it says i dont have some files on phone

I use this tutorial to root my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=921652
But when i clicke Root on Super one click it stopped after a minute or two when i clicked root for the first time. later i clicked unroot and again root and than it stops at the same code but faster than the first time. Is phone rooted than or why is now the process faster?
After it stops writing code, the code looks so:
http://shrani.si/f/1q/wn/1Bu7Tc5t/root-problem.png
the whole code on right side looks so:
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *

rooting problem
I think some file for your superoneclick has deleted by antivirus
1. try re-download the superoneclick
2. disable antivirus for 10 minutes
3. extract the file
3. run superoneclick again.. i hope it success
or just use x8 toolbox to rooting x8, its easily
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117100
reply
disabling antivirus didnt work, i will try the toolbox now, but i dont understand totally what i have to do here.
I have downloaded driver and toolbox, installed driver, but what do i do with toolbox?
Easiest way to root is flashtool no files needed just adb drivers and finger to click root...
Sent from my E15i using XDA
I think you dont have drivers installed
Check it with flashtool....

1. install x8 adb (skip if already installed)
2. run the x8toolbox.cmd
3. type 1 then enter to select root/unroot menu
4. type 1 then enter to select root
5. connect your phone with usb debugging enabled
6. wait after rooting process done
For superoneclick you have to have pc companion installed in your computer (*for the drivers)
But I think you are rooted. Have you checked?

I cant find superuser on my phone so phone can be rooted without showing superuser?

try to root with Flashtool!
just click on PADLOCK icon..

Ok guys. There is still problem
I have restored my phone by PCC and then tried to root but is doesn't change anything.
Also, when i try to root by x8toolbox i have error like this:
"
processing command . . .
waiting for device . . .
running psneuter exploit on device . . .
Unable to chmod /data/local/tmp/psneuter: No such file or directory
device not exploited ! ! !
"
Please Help!
Turn off your antivirus program and try again.
Better yet, turn off your antivirus program, download whichever tool you want and, then, try again.
Thx mate a lot! It works now! Thank you !
So far all I am getting is errors after errors
I've done a full wipe to the Sony Tablet S but still no go!
