No matter what i do, i can't find a way to root or unlock my Samsung captivate running android 2.2.
I've download so many programs and nothing seems to work. Most of them say adb server is out of date and cant seem to find what that means.
Heres my log from superoneclick, can someone please help me.

Just flash speedmod kernel with Odin and you will have root.

Try superoneclick before v1.9. Don't use psneuter, use the other one

Dell Streak 7 - Android 2.2.2 (T-Mobile Version)
Baseband Version 11.810.09.60.00

USB Debugging enabled, obviously.
Trying to get this rooted for a friend.. no luck thus far.
Also, not 100% sure, but I think the DS7 may be unmounting internal storage upon usb connection, WITHOUT me asking it to.

killing adbd. (should restart in a second or two)
The most trouble I had with mine when rooting was getting the adb drivers installed. Check in the device manager and make sure it shows as an adb device or superoneclick will not work.
Alternatively you could flash CWM and flash a superuser.pkg
Either way you need adb drivers obviously
I think its right..
This is what I'm seeing in Device manager.. (see pictures)
If I need to change the driver a link would be awesome.
Root

I have rooted tons of devices before and none gave me more trouble then the DS7.
First copy the drivers from your internal SD card and extract them to a folder ADB on your C: drive.
Download the recovery also found somewhere in this forum. Then rename it to recovery.img and save it to your ADB folder on C:
Make sure you have the device in USB mode (off then hold volume down and power) till you get a screen with some white and some red text. Download the Fastboot and ADB drivers found elsewhere on this forum and extract all of those to the same folder. Depending on your computer x86/64 copy drivers from the folder Win32 to the ADB folder. Also copy the fastboot and all other associated files to the ADB folder. Now plug in you DS7 to your computer, you should see something pop up to try and install drivers if it doesn't find them go to the device manager right click and direct it to look in your adb folder on C.
Now you should bring up a command prompt and type C:\adb
Then type fastboot devices
you should get a ? fastboot
if you get this you should be fine now to flash the recovery
Type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
It took me like 5 days to figure this out. HOpe this doesn't sound to convoluted.

These instructions look accurate to me.
As it stands now it looks like the adb driver is installed. I would just try putting it in fastboot and type the adb devices command and see if it finds the device. If it does then flash the recovery and proceed to flash SU.
Sooo.... I cheated.
I backed up his user apps (he didn't have any super sensitive information on the device that he couldn't lose), factory reset, and used Gingerbreak, which immediately rooted it.
Going to start flashing ROMs now, but thanks for all the help. Normally I would try adb methods, but I don't have a ton of time to throw at this, as its not my device.
Good to hear you got it.
My personal preference in the newest Dell factory HC ROM. My DS7 didn't run very stable with any of DJ_Steve's builds unfortunately even though they were faster. Also for me Netflix was broken on those builds.
Good luck!
Hey guys. I'm trying yo root my x8, but it doesn't work.
I've highlighted what I think the prob. is, but how do I solve it then??

Make sure drivers are installed like previously mentioned. Also run as administrator or make sure one click has admin rights.

first settings/applications/and enable usb debugging
second download this superoneclick: http://www.mediafire.com/?n7gd7ju2c5rbkt9
connect phone to pc on charge mode
if you have w xp you must install manually the x8 drivers(Google it)
when the root is done reboot the phone
Yep yep
Dont forget to install x8 driver and gordons gates
Use flashtool if SOC didnt work
Install driver from flashtool\driver
Make sure if your phone detected..
Finally
Click on padlock icon from flash tool
Done!
Sent from my E15i using xda app-developers app
just install pccompanion to your computer!
.
I'm not a noob, so i just used flashtool instead
Man use superoneclick then connect your phone and install adb drivers...then root
Sent from my E15i using Tapatalk 2
yep yep..
but remember if you want to Unlock Bootloader
Kill the adb services..if you're using s1tool

Hi there brothers!!
I recently decided that I want to root my phone and to put ICS or any other rom on it..like zeus or cm...the only problem is that I cannot root it.
I have tried gingerbreak and superoneclick but it did not work. I get ''false'' everytime I try to root it. I tried to make shell root first than root than shell root again and so on but it did not work. I watched this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJIV8F2SwTo. I think it should work but I have read other's comments and that worried me... . I saw comments like: '' I cannot install any app or when I do it, it reboots automatically'' and that scared me to death lol....I really want to do this lol.
This is what I get : * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *

Just search about smartflash tool in XDA
Download patched V20S version ROM or some version that is patched
Just flash with smartflash tool then you have rooted phone just in 3 mins.
Then if you can install Zeus 6.39 ROM...that will be awesome ROM and you will be surprised of that features

I think it should work but I have read other's comments and that worried me... . I saw comments like: '' I cannot install any app or when I do it, it reboots automatically'' and that scared me to death lol....I really want to do this lol.

hi dude, it would be nice if you could shorten your post. know that all rooting attemps by software method fail, except for 3 lucky guys in the world, so the log won't help in any way. GB is patched against all known exploits. that's a fact.
use smartflash. there is a pinned thread here which explains everything

Hi man! tnx for the assitance. I had seen your video but there is a problem...as I read through posts/comments on xda and youtube I saw that many ob users have a problem : whenever they try to dl a game, their phone restarts..and that scares me. Well, my question is: if I install another ROM, will this problem go away? xD Thanks
yes it will, don't forget to make a factory reset, btw the video is not mine, it belongs to wagstuff13
