Thanks for the response, I am going to exchange my phone. I keep getting autodownloading apps when I sign into my wifi and the phone asks for my simcode or gives me the circle with line through it saying there is no sim installed.
So I had a good working simcard with AT&T service. Like a paid service with a number and everything. And now it doesnt work. On my phone when I start it, It says NO SIM CARD FOUND. Even though my sim card is in the phone.
Ive earlier was stuck in the HTC boot screen mode. I tried to factory reset and wiped sd card and messed around in partition sd card.. But nothing worked. So i downloaded the old RUU and it restarted everything. And i got out of that. and thats when it said no sim card or Sd card found...
PLEASE HELP ME!

You can try by formating your sd card once and flashing the rom again. This might work for you.

I've been reading several threads and tried the work around being posted but none of them worked. My n7000 still recognizes my old sim, i want to replace a new sim card to get a bit of privacy but when i inserted a new sim card i get the "insert sim card" prompt and only have emergency calls and wifi. I even tried several roms including the original JB update we have on our country but none of them solved my problem. I would like to seek for an advice on what to do so i can change a new sim.
I hope you guys here can help me out.

Yes i even tried it on other phones and its working fine.
Okay, I posted this question in the I9300 Q&A section by accident (was a bit distraught, didn't read the section title properly), but for some reason a mod appears to have deleted the thread instead of moving it, so here it is again in the correct section.
So after using my I9305 for about 8-9 months now, I woke up this morning to find my phone nonoperational. The phone requests on boot a "SIM network unlock PIN". If this window is dismissed, the pulldown notifications drawer states "Invalid SIM card" with subtitle "Network locked SIM card inserted". Quick Googling reveals that these notifications and errors typically show that a phone is locked to a specific carrier. Now that's understandable, but this phone is unlocked, and I hadn't even taken the SIM card out until this error occurred. The SIM card works just fine in another phone.
I've tried rebooting the phone (first port of call), and using the code *#197328640# in the dialer to SIM unlock as per this post (but I didn't have "[4] NW LOCK NV Data INNITIALLIZ" as an option). I tried using "busybox chown 1001:1001 /efs/nv_data.bin" in terminal emulator as root, after seeing this post, but it came with an error of "chown: /efs/nv_data.bin: NO such file or directory". So... how bad do things look? And no... I don't have a backup of my efs. =[

Since then, I also tried *#06# in the dialer, and my IMEI is intact.
Try another sim first

Nope, no dice.
Are you totally stock rom or custom?
Stock standard 4.1.2, with CF-Auto-Root.

Maybe try flash a stock pre-rooted rom by lriquidperfection with odin and try the *# again?
Tried various different stock ROMs and factory resets, nothing.
You need to flash a 4.1.1 ROM, or at least a modem from such a ROM.

Tried flashing several 4.1.1 stock ROMs, no luck either.

Not sure why doing anything with the battery would be in any way related with the SIM. I also forgot to mention that I had already tried cleaning the SIM card at the start with alcohol. In any case, the SIM card works fine in another phone, so it appears that there isn't problem with the SIM card. In any case, I managed to RMA the phone, now the long wait to get it back...

Got my phone back from the shop today. Kept an eye on the shipping tracking when I sent it out, and they sent it back out half a day after they took delivery, so I'm guessing they used a SIM unlock code since it's definitely my phone that I got back. Didn't have to pay anything, so I'm happy. Still not sure why/how the phone decided to lock itself though...
