Mr. Sahilarora2003 guide will be the best and safer way to downgrade to gb.
After downgrade to gb, you will facing some fc problem when setting up the phone at 1st boot. Dont panic, just turn off the phone, boot into stock recovery and do full wipe, then you will be fine. Good luck mate.

Gb roms are safe to flash... Ics comes with bricks. Never ever wipe with stock ics kernel.. Since u want to downgrade u have to use odin as it is the safest way to flash.

[Q] How do I safely revert to GB from ICS without bricking

Hi there,
The recent rash of hard bricks and fried eMMC chips experienced in ICS roms based on leaked ICS binaries has got me spooked. I want to revert to Gingerbread in a safe way.
Current rom setup is: LP5 base, LP5 kernel, LP6 baseband and imilka's CM9 v3.
Current options at my disposal:
Nandroid backup Gingerbread 2.3.6 DarkyROM v3.3 accessible through CWM
Mobile Odin, for flashing stock .tar's
Other? Open to suggestions
Various users have reported hard bricks after invoking the full wipe command in CWM on leaked binary kernels. I believe my options displayed above are fairly safe but can someone confirm this, has anyone succesfully reverted to GB after flashing a .tar in Odin or using a nandroid backup?
Many thanks,
mcmaddcatt

That's all fine. But what do we do if we are on ICS and want to go back to Gingerbread when we don't have a Gingerbread backup from earlier?

1. Download any custom GB Rom (Darky, Cassie, whatever)
2. Flash Abyss 4.2
3. Reload recovery
4. Do your wipes
5. Flash your custom GB
The safe way would be to flash a stock ROM with PC Odin, or flash a safe kernel with PC Odin and do your flashing with that. The methods outlined above don't sound very safe to me, but maybe I'm wrong.

From what I understand, flashing anything with the leaked kernels is not safe.

I thought the problem was flashing anything with the leaked repack ICS kernels was where the risk of frying your emmc came from, so wouldn't flashing abysskernel from an ICS recovery carry that same risk, hence the recommendations to flash a GB ROM via PC Odin?
Or have I missed a step somewhere ...

Your drivers are not installed properly. If you are on cm10 rooted you could always flash stock tar with.mobile odin

Yes mobile odin is safe to flash
Copy the rom into your sdcard
Install mobile odin pro and select "open file" option
Then select the rom,if you need to be rooted, then select "ever root" option
If you were about to flash a gb rom, then select both the wipes and select "flash firmware"
And you are done:good:

You Can use odin but be mindful because you might end up bricking your phone its better to flash first dbdata.rfs....before flashing it to stock gingerbread rom

Actually, no, it doesn't matter in which order you flash it in. You can flash the stock GB rom first- you'll just end up in a bootloop. Then just pull the battery, insert and get into download, flash in dbsdata.rfs.tar.

So cm 10 then flash custom gb then bootloop then flash .tar and everything ok?

Not sure about going straight to custom GB- but sice they're just modified stock roms, yes, I believe it should work.

I have done this few times... just flash CM7 over any JB rom, reboot recovery and then flash CM7 again.. after that you can go to any other rom you want.. :good:

[Q] Note Stock restore

Hello, I'm currently using a G Note on [email protected] ICS, Build Number IMM76D.XXLRK.
I'm thinking about updating to the JB leak for The G Note but im worried about bricking my phone can anyone tell me what the chance of it bricking is? and how id go about changing my firmware from this rom?
Thankyou.
Flash Philz kernel.
Full wipe and flash whichever ROM you want.....
Also, use search as this question has been asked many times in the past
If you have speedmod kernel the chance of bricking its 0... And if you want the ODIN official JB leak just go Odin mode power+home+volume down then flash.. You don't need to wipe going from Ics to JB TW

So its just a case of finding the JB leak i want then, putting it on SD card and flashing using mobile ODIN?

No, you should allways follow the installation instructions in the specific thread for the JB Custom Rom you want.
If you choose the XXLSA leak from sammobile.com (that was the base leak for all following XXLSA/C Custom Roms) then you can use Mobile Odin - I did this many times without problems.
OK thankyou

Go here and download the version you want
http://live.samsung-updates.com/index.php?device=GT-N7000
Second download odin from here or you can even use this stock rooted version
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2035127
I went for straight stock then rooted after but everyone has thier own ideas!
Ok thankyou I already have ODIN on my phone. Is it safer too use the PC Odin?

Mobile odin and pc odin is similar.
The only different from what I know is.... with mobile odin you can keep ur root, and flash custom kernel.
Whereby with pc odin, all will be brand new. No root, stock kernel.
If ur device is rooted alrd, and u have cwm recovery installed, why don't u choose custom rom, and just flash it from cwm recovery?
Easier, fast, no headache.
Custom rom has some tweaks that might improve performance.
But choice is urs. Good luck mate.

I prefer Mobile odin if already rooted as this way we can change the kernel at the time of flash to be safe

Downgrade from JB to GB

I need to downgrade my Note from stock JB (N7000OXALSZ Germany) to a rooted GB and then upgrade to another version of JB (N7000OJPLSA UAE) to make my phone localized and rooted. I need step by step guide.
My phone is not rooted and doesn't have safe kernel(I've tried to flash a GB rom with pc Odin and got bootloop after that).

I saw that thread but i couldn't find downgrading method(s) there. he just mentioned we should downgrade but didn't specify how to downgrade. and as i said my effort to downgrade was unsuccessful.
Easiest way if you can't figure it out is just use mobile Odin...

I Can't. because my phone is not rooted and mobile odin need rooted device.
Why don't you flash philz kernel for your current ROM(LSZ),do the wipes, and then move on to UAE?
AW: Downgrade from JB to GB
Than use odin for pc to flash GB.
Oh sorry, I have just seen you have already tried this. But maybe you have taken the wrong file.,. Or simply root your phone with Philz and flash the rom you want. No need to go back to GB in my opinion.

Have your flashing to GB was successful?
Anyway reboot to recovery and check how you can make selection of choice, if it is gb recovery then you have to select file using home button while on ics and jb it uses power button.
So if your flash to GB successful and recovery is gb then wipe cache and data. It should boot normally
After this update to jb with odin

Thanks for replies,
I've just flash stock GB(from your list), not a safe kernel or anything else and it was unsuccessful(got bootloop). then i re-flash JB(Germany) to make the phone alive again(and it was successful, so i'm on JB right now), after all of this i decide to ask you what should i do for safe and successful downgrading to have rooted device on JB(UAE)?
Successful means odin was successful to flash it. Don't worry about bootloop, it's common after downgrade. So Reflash gb, if it remains successful to flash then reboot to recovery and wipe cache and data (you can confirm gb recovery by trick said in previous msg)
But if you just want to update other gb rom, then no need to go for gb, just flash jb rom of your choice, don't worry for bootloop
Flash safe kernel
Wipe cache and data
