Cannot update Polish Note in the US? - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I imported a GN when it first came out. I am in the US. I use it as a mini tab no SIM.
If I try to update the firmware over wifi it says "no sim" or something. No upgrade.
So I try in Kies and it says something like Kies doesn't support firmware updates for this device or something similar.
So how can i update this? I don't know why they won't let me do it but it is irritating to say the least.
I am not good with odin and rooting and flashing leaks or custom ROMS, I just want a stock normal update? Anyway to do this?

check your csc if there is a update for your gnote.
dial *#06# for emei, write down
then dial *#272*emeinumberhere* and check which csc is selected. Can you post that here?
dont post your emei here btw, just csc code

It is very old, what ever it was when it came out (I think gingerbread), it is not ICS and that is what I wanted to upgrade to.

A US service center will update a device I am not supposed to have(import)? Something tells me no. They will just tell me to get the authorized device (crap slow ATT version) for my region.
So I guess there is no way to do it at all? I guess that is what we get for importing, they refuse to let you make any updates. Damn Samsung!

As above poster said, check your csc. Then you can download a corresponding or different csc, such as American and install any official rom such as ics via pc odin.

Easiest way to do it is still via ODIN - Check out Dr. K's thread, there's a complete walk through..

It doesn't give me the CSC. I got the other but it does nothing when I type in all of that plus my imei. Yes I checked the number a few times to make sure I didn't get it wrong.

sorry made error code should be *#272*imei# my bad. Be careful changing it on ics kernel due to brickbug as it triggers factory reset/wipe.
pc odin is good alternative, then you can update to whatever you want as Jim said. It might be wise before to root so you can backup efs partition thought. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606012 Rooting can be done via dr Ketans thread also.

Entering that code on your dialler will show you a list of csc codes installed on your device. If you change from the one currently applied it will perform a full wipe of device, on ics that's dangerous. So if you want to change csc, need to flash gb rom first then change csc before upgrading back to ics.

OK if I do this it gives me a "sales code KOR" then install or cancel. The build number is gingerbread.xxkj4
I am on GB, should I change this? I really don't have much set up on this yet to worry about wipe, as long as it doesn't brick.

So that's a Korean csc I believe, it's worth checking your settings in about phone, post what firmware version your on and model of device.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

Every rom has a default csc it defaults to if the previous selected csc is not in that rom. You can change it. But beware, be sure you are on safe kernel cause changing csc triggers a wipe, so you will lose data when doing that.
Also if not done already do efs backup, see dr ketans thread on that.

[Q] Can't unroot Galaxy S

I roooted my galaxy s some months ago to apply the one click lag fix (Super One Click, v1.6 i think, tho not sure about the version number).
I have since removed the lag-fix and unrooted. The whole process completed without any problems. However, when i tried to update to Gingerbread, it tells me my software version cannot be updated.
When i checked the software details on the phone it has the Kernal as 2.6.32.9 [email protected]8#1
Im pretty sure this still identifies the phone as being rooted.
I tried rooting and unrooting again (this time using v1.9), as before the whole process completed as it should, but nothing has changed on the phone.
I understand that if I flashed the firmware, it would remove the rooting, but would prefer to avoid this route if possible.
The phone is running stock froyo - PDA:JP7 / PHONE: JP3 / CSC: JP5 (TMU)
Any advice on this would be appreciated

Actually the bolded line doesn't indicate whether you're rooted or not. Once you have flash a stock rom via Odin, you're good to go without any root access.
Sorry if I'm being a bit dim... but what holder line?
I'm pretty certain the phone is no longer rooted, but as long as it still has this root kernel on it Kies won't allow it to update.

Need URGENT help please

Hi guys.
It's 2 in the morning here in the U.K and I have to get up at 7:30, still racking my brain...
I wanted a standard ROM so I uninstalled root. I then did a factory reset, now my samsung keyboard just types as null null null...
I can only use ODIN now to flash, I have no CWM. I have no way of using Mobile ODIN either as I have no root.
What do I do? I have Baseband version N7000XXLRB. With Build Number IMM76D.XXLRG
I have gone on to the main rom page and just downloaded the first U.K one I saw. Is this okay? I'm running stock ICS and stock recovery.
Also when I open up standard recovery instead of the little green droid with the shape in his tummy, theres now a droid laying down with his tummy open with a little red warning triangle?
So the bottom line is, how can I fix it so that when I type it doesn't say null null null. I need my phone desperately and I need all the help I can get.
Thanks in advance.
Oli
Just try flashing the ROM again dude... if the problem persist, got rooted then install RootExplorer go to system/app folder and delete AxT9IME.odex file then flash the ROM again by Odin..

Nothing To Worry. Do this
Just Open PCOdin. Put your phone in Download Mode. Connect it to PC using USB Cable.Select the same rom file which you have on your phone now under CSC tab instead of PDA tab and flash. It will solve your problem
Here you can find all roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Okay I downloaded N7000XXLQ2_N7000XEULP4_XEU... even though my ROM is LRB, would this work? As LP4 was the first U.K ROM there is? The first LRB ROM was German and I can't see an LRB ROM from the U.K there? Or does anyone have any suggested ROMs for me to flash?
As a temporary fix I switched to Swype, then downloaded JB keyboard from the Play Store, but ideally would like to have this sorted.
Thanks again

Root current and backup efs on multiple locations, note down original csc. That way you can always go back to original situation, plus you have a fallback in case efs gets corrupted from flashing different kinds of csc roms
Most dont say this, but it is the most valuable advice if you dont want to loose imei, service, warrantee, ota/kies updatability (when back on original csc roms), value when selling phone, etc

Hi there,
My best bet on the stock ROM your gonna use would be this one - > N7000XXLRK---4.0.4/12.07.24-N7000XEULP5, look and download it from here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 (courtesy of Doc Ketan)
There's instructions on that thread as well on how to flash the ROM.
EDIT: On the setup stage (after you've flash it), you will be prompted on which Language your going to use, Look for English (United Kingdom) and follow the steps from there (clicking 'Next' from thereon)
Thank you very much I will try this when I'm at my dads in an hour or so. I'll also thank your post

If he has been flashing the phone and you have null imei and baseband, chances are that he also tried to root and flashed the package intended for the i9300.

Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
did you checked your Baseband version in settings-> about phone: Baseband?
If it is unknown, then try to flash a modem on top. Depending on what rom you came before, SLIM does not provide a modem within its rom.zip.
And what imei is showing in settings->about phone->status: IMEI?
a number beginning with 0049xxxx or something like that is only a pseudo imei and you have lost your original imei (do not post your complete emei here for safety issus)
You Must Install Stock ROM ( 3 Files ) and when you install 3 files ROM , Every things Should be OK.
To get the imei back: yes.
But if the IMEI is ok, flashing a modem should be enough....

[Q] GT-P1000N (Latin Model)

Hi everyone,
As i stated, I have the gt-p1000n running stock GB 2.3.3
All info is in attached screenshots
My tab has been bricked and resurrected.
My problem is, the network capabilities are gone.
Will not recognize sim, yet will reboot when removed or inserted
I have read previous threads and searched, but the N model is hard to find for.
As i found in other threads, I have tried flashing: JP3 Modem (Gingerbread) 2.3.3 for P1000N by HumerOS but still doesnt work.
Should I flash a different modem.bin?
Will it brick me again?
Any and all help appreciated
Please help........someone.......anyone???
People use the word brick lightly.
You can brick your tab if you flash a Rom made for another device.
Or if the flashing was interrupted when it was writing the bootloader.
There is no way you brick your tab by flashing different modem.
Just go ahead and flash as many modems as you like.

Ok So i think i know what the problem is. When I checked the IMEI using *#06# it showed a different number than the number on the back casing. I think they (repair shop) might have changed my IMEI after JTAG??
Also, EFS backup shows different IMEI (same as in *#06#) and Serial number than on unit.
Suggestions?
the IMEI you posted earlier looks legit.
Could they have changed the back cover of your unit or the motherboard?
Usually, flashing a stock ROM from Samsung using Odin will restore your IMEI.

I cant say for sure about the MB, but I doubt they would replace the MB for free. The back cover is mine. There are distinct markings on it that I confirm it.
Now I remember, I also had this problem. My IMEI was also changed after flashing a ROM and I lost my network service, I think it was a CM nightly as well. I remember just getting the next nightly and it was fixed.

Yeah, what I'm saying is that maybe flashing a new ROM might solve it. I don't think you've got anything to lose now, right?
Ok so as the screenshot shows I have a new nightly Rom, updated and all, yet the IMEI is the same (not the correct one), and the S/N changed yet again to a different number.
Im lost
